I was doing a lot of research for a good quality work/travel laptop backpack, not too big, not too small, and not screaming "I am a luxury brand " attracting unwanted attention.
Eventually found this one at a bargain price worth sharing.
Everki is a well know US laptop bags and backpacks maker. Watch the demo video here.

Amazon is selling it for $249.
Googling for the next cheapest price is still over $150!

Don't forget to activate CashRewards 2.1% cash back.

Capacity: 21.5L. External bag dimensions 16.5 x 12 x 7.5 inch. Accommodates laptops/notebooks up to 14.3 x 10.1 x 1.5 inch

Good find mate, also after THE functional forever bag instead of drowning in like 20 bags like I am now and wondering if I should just bite the bullet and get a peak design… then which one… zip 20l ? The tote one? Smh so many choices

    • +2

Have a look at the ULA ultra dragonfly.

      • Yeah one of reddits favs but no Australian supplier? Same with Tom binhs

    • +2

I got the PD 30L. Been awesome.

Plenty of room. I'm using one divider with commonly used stuff on top and less commonly needed things in the lower compartment. The latch is convenient compared to a zipper.

It's definitely not a 1 bag type bag and I wouldn't take it on a hike but it serves its purpose well. All that said, I was happy with my previous Dell backpack - mainly wanted a bit of extra room to carry other Ozbargain purchases.

  • Would this make a good bike to work back pack? Currently using a random Nike one lol

    • +2

I use Osprey Radial 26 with my bike—much better shoulder support.

    • +1

You should consider backpacks with a ventilated mesh back if you are riding hard and sweat alot. They basically keep the backpack itself off your back and allow fresh air to flow through to keep you cool.

      • -2

Will you also get a spotted mesh tan as well if ya riding shirtless

  • +1

Would be perfect if it can fit MacBook 16

    • +1

Check your size. The current 16" measures 35.57 x 24.81 x 1.68 cm so should fit

      Laptop pocket 36.4 x 25.7 x 3.9 cm

  • +3

I have an Everki Backpack. They're really well made. Feel very premium.

    • +1

I have an Everki Atlas. Excellent quality.

  • I got an old one different style. It is a great bag.

  • +4

I own the previous model of the same bag, 16" MBP fits without issues. This is an awesome bag and for the price, I'm considering a $50 backup for "some time in future, I'm an OzBargainer and buy things"

    • Don't they come with a lifetime warranty though, why would you need a backup?

  • Whats the code to save an extra $10?

    • I think it's a unique new user sign up code.

      • Bloody hell how did I miss that

        • They would have sent this to you by email after you subscribe.

          • @Buy2Much: Mistakes were made…

Buy another and cancel the first? 😂

          • @Buy2Much: Was that subscribing to their Newsletter or Digiclub? Thanks!

            • +1

@donamique: There should be an ad pop up when you open their web site. I don’t remember which as I subscribed to them over a year ago…it might have placed a cookie in my machine so no longer show up.
I had a search. Could be this $10 Email Signup.

            • @donamique: Also just received $10 coupon for joining DigiClub, 3 days later…

      • Do they send straight away?

        • +3

          no, haven't got mine yet

          • +1

@Kooratz: Just received my $10 digiclub coupon code, 3 days later.

    • +1

Signed up and waited half an hour and didn't receive one. Bought without it because I didn't want to miss out.

  • +1

I dont need this .. but bought this anyway…

  • +9

It's quite heavy at 1.6 kg and size looks quite bulky on the model.

  • +8

    Bag weight 1.64kg… no thanks

    • Yes thinking the same… Will be very sturdy (I imagine), but way too heavy.

  • Don't need it, but I am a sucker for a deal….Thanks OP!

  • Refer to earlier comments for feedback on Everki products. They used to also provide lifetime guarantee.

    • +1

The Versa2 is in their "premium" range and RRP is over double the price of the one in that post.

  • +2

Have had Everki Titan for about the last 10 years and is genuinely still as good as new. Only got daily use for about 2 of those years but has been my go to travel bag since then and been all over the world since then.

  • I’m not buying it. I’m not buying it.

    I must resist this temptation.

    • +2

      It is ok to fail!

  • +1

    It retails for $329

    cough, choke, splutter

  • +3

I have an Everki Flight back pack. Bought around 2011 from a physical Dick Smith store.

It has a lifetime warranty and I actually had it replaced for free once in Dec 2014, due to wear and tear. Absolutely recommend. Still have it and still good.

Not sure if all / still have this warranty.

Paid around $60 on special, similar to this old GG deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162103

    • +2

This warranty "does not apply to normal wear and tear, accidental damage, abuse, misuse, alterations or cosmetic damages (like scratches or stained fabrics)."

  • +2

bought a few backpacks and typically find they don't cut it with all the needed compartments; like somewhere for shades and an easy place for travel docs … this seems to have the full set!! side water bottle pocket and all. And for this price, I bought 2! nice share, thanks OP!!

Not sure why but this image cracked me up I almost woke the neighbours. My guy staring ominously at an oversized backpack.

  • I have two everki. One for travel and one for work. They are stunning, durable and functional. Grab them

  • They definitely have lifetime warranty.

    https://www.everki.com/au_en/warranty

They have Aus Contact details too.

I've owned multiple bags and used them daily pre-Covid. Most schools use Everki bags for MacBooks and Chromebooks.

It says "AWAITING STOCK". Does it mean that it's been sold out?

    • Saw it after I paid

  • NB: this bag is for laptop up to 14"

  • Does this backpack defend against bullies?

  • +1

Invoice read 0 qty, should have read 2.
    Email sent.

    • My invoice also has quantity - 0, but I have paid for 1. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

      • +2

"Thanks for your email. Please disregard the 0 quantity in the confirmation email. We are working on resolving that system issue at the moment. We are sorry for the confusion this may have caused."

      • Order cancelled :(

  • +1

Can testify to some other comments, got an EVERKI bag after I came to Australia about 10 years ago, and there were only minor scratches on some parts after 6 years of abuse (I often even used it for groceries worth 10 kg when I was a student…). The sturdiest bag I have ever owned.

  • Think it's out of stock as can't add to cart.

  • Looks amazing but probably wont fit my HP Zbook Fury? Or Lenovo P1. Also looks like sold out waiting for stock?

  • Can add to cart but cant checkout, was trying to purchase another

  • Did anyone receive an order confirmation email?

    • Your request (393xxx) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff.

    • Yep, ordered 9pm last night and got a confirmation email.

  • +2

Good bag I bought few years ago from SaveOnIt for $20, every year for a Boxing Day they selling this bag for a similar price

  • Had one for years, great bag and still going strong…the zip open and lay flat to get through customs claim they made was BS…always had to pull laptop and tablet out regardless of which airport I was flying from.

    • Yeah that's an old airport security myth that just won't die. Laptops always need to be placed inside a tray and scanned independently from the bag. It's convenient to lay flat at times, but they definitely have very little benefit at an airport security screening.

    • Surprisingly, Perth and possibly 1 other location has no requirement to remove laptops from bags. Sydney surprised me when I was chastised for not also removing a tablet from my bag. When asking when they would be upgrading to new technology scanners, I was told that structural mods were required to support the weight of the new machines. Hopefully that happens some time soon.

  • +1

I ordered 3 on my mobile and the payment went through so lets see if it get fufilled. Laptop dimensions seem tight but says it will fit.

    Thanks OP great deal.

  • Thank you for your order.
Due to your ordered item being out of stock, we will have our supplier ship one out to us.
It generally takes 7-14 business days for stock to arrive at our stores. However, please keep in mind that this is subject to supplier stock availability.

  • +1

It's currently listed as Awaiting Stock BUT still available to purchase, so not OOS.

I've dealt with DigiDirect a lot the last 3 years and they have been REALLY good with customer service, even when you grab crazy bargains from them, and then things get put on backorder, they call you up and let you know what's going on (usually ordered promptly from supplier like someone elses quote comment) and happy to answer even more questions if asked. Once contacted aswell, they'll send email updates (via a real employee) on orders once or twice a week depending on how your order progresses.

I snapped one up anyway because I know Everki has generally, really decent stuff. I doubt my ROG Zephyrus 15.6 would fit though..

    • +2

      Check your size.

      Laptop pocket 36.4 x 25.7 x 3.9 cm

I also had a camera back order that took several weeks to arrive.
They gave me a $50 code for the delay, which I used to pay for this bag. Winner! 😜

      • I've got like .4cm on length, .75cm on width and about 1.7cm on height.

I MAY get away with it actually. The extra height may cover the width and the strap should flex a little if it does poke out the top.

Edit: Hey nice one! Did you already grab a good bargain on the camera?

I think one time I grabbed a camera hiking bag on crazy clearance (like 33% cheaper than anywhere else) they called me up and explained it was unfortunately backordered but they were in contact with supplier to get it in within a week to store, then onward onto me. I think they might have even upgraded to express shipping to minimise the delay.

        • +1

Yes it was in DD's EOFY 5% off sitewide that I posted, stack on top of already sale prices on cameras. I have not seen them reaching that low since hence did not cancel.
Camera finally arrived over a month later. They did send a courtesy email every fortnight to update me though.
So because of that deal, I now also got a premium backpack that costs me almost nothing (thanks to their $50 sorry-for-the-delay voucher). Double fist-pump moment 😀

  • Damn! Missed this great deal.

Product that you are trying to add is not available.

  • +1

    My order was cancelled

    • Mine had been shipped, but I bought before the “awaiting stock” message. I guess it was ozbargained and they could not get anymore from the distributor…

  • Ordered cancelled. Email said the bag has been discontinued

  • Same here, they said bag is discontinued

    • +1 offered credits

  • +1

I regret to inform you we have been given information with our supplier that the
EVERKI Premium Travel Friendly Laptop Backpack, up to 14" is now discontinued and cant be fulfilled, we apologies for the inconvenience this has caused, if you would like to cancel your order or arrange credit for a future purchase please reply to inform us of your decision, Kind Regards.-KP

  • What a shame, been refunded.

  • +1

It's unfortunate not everyone ordered in time before stock ran out.
I have just received it today and it was as good as I expect. High quality look and feel, thick fabric and zippers, and plenty of compartments for all sort of things. Which explains why it is heavier than some other backpacks. If you do see it on clearance at other stores, consider it.
My only regret is that I did not order a second one for my partner…

    • 100% agree, it's beautiful and feels so premium

The discontinued is probably a standard statement as buying them from the supplier is more than they sold them for

  • If anyone gets one that they regret ordering I would be interested.

  • yep … order cancelled

  • +1

Got an email that mine's been shipped

  • I waited for the goddamn $10 coupon code, should have just purchased while in stock

    • Same, still havent got the coupon and missed out lol

  • If you missed out don't feel bad:

EVERKI Premium Travel Friendly Laptop Backpack

So, what is the successor of this model? Versa 2 still shows up as a current model in other stores.

      • +1

I'm checking this as well. Not too happy that the order was actually placed.

  • I ordered around 10am on Saturday and got an order confirmation email but haven't got any communication since. I'm hoping it's not cancelled. I'll email them Monday next week if I haven't heard anything.

    • Got my shipping notification :)

    • I haven't heard anything either, did you get an update from them?
