[Pre Order] $250 GC + $300 Trade in Coupon with Google Pixel 8, $350 GC + $300 Trade in Coupon with Pixel 8 Pro @ JB Hi-Fi

1260

JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will be sent out two weeks after order is placed online or will be available when collecting the device for in-store orders. Offer ends 12 October 2023.

$300 bonus discount coupon applies to Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro order when you trade in an eligible device via SquareTrade by 25 October 2023. This is in addition to the credit for your trade-in device.

For example, if you were to trade in a device with a trade-in credit value of $1:

  • Pixel 8 128GB $1,199 - ($300 bonus coupon + $1 trade-in credit) = $898 upfront. You then receive a $250 Gift Card effectively making it $648 (depending on what you do with the Gift Card).
  • Pixel 8 Pro 128GB $1,699 - ($300 bonus coupon + $1 trade-in credit) = $1,398 upfront. You then receive a $350 Gift Card effectively making it $1,048 (depending on what you do with the Gift Card).

May be a more worthwhile deal compared to the $250 Pixel 8/$400 Pixel 8 Pro bonus credit offer via Google Store, if you have an eligible device to trade in.

There's also a bonus JB Hi-Fi Gift Card offer if you pre-order both Pixel and Pixel Watch 2 devices in the same transaction:
- Pixel 8 + Pixel Watch 2 from $1,748 = $450 Gift Card
- Pixel 8 Pro + Pixel Watch 2 from $2,248 = $550 Gift Card

Why does the deal expire at 8am on Thu 12th Oct instead of end of day. Google store pre order deals last on launch day. Every time we usually get to double dip and thats where JB and Google gets the volume, the additional $100-$150 off which sucks in the people on the edges. I would say wait on the pre-order and if demand is not good, Google/JB Hi-Fi will throw a sweetener like last year. Expect upping of the JB Hi-Fi GC to match google store ones ($350 to $400 for the Pixel 8 Pro :D, additional $200 for the wartch)

DONT put in your pre-orders till the morning of Thu 12th Oct :D or can put it through just as clocks ticks over on Wed 11th Oct past midnight
$850-$900 net cost incl JB Gift cards, 15% off Ultimate GCs (like the Optus deal) is what is a good launch buy price, anything more you are paying more than an Ozbargainer would pay

    • I'm confused by your post? It IS $350 + $200 with JBHifi for the Pro now if you do Pro + Watch?

Only difference sounds like $50 more if they make it $400 instead of $350?

      • yep if $50 doesn't sound much, people here throw a war for $1. Understand for some folks, getting on launch day at 8/9am is more important to have their toy and set it up than anything else.

  • This is slightly off-topic, but I used square trade up for a new Samsung phone back in April.

Got the trade in discounts and all that, I emailed them saying I won't be trading in my old phone and they acknowledged my reply and deleted my credit card details.

Now in October square trade up sent me an email with a link to pay the amount for my old phone, and apologised for the inconvenience caused when they were supposed to deduct my old phone value back in April which apparently they didn't do.

Do I need to pay the amount even though they made the mistake almost 6 months ago?

    • +1

Did they supply you with a JB Giftcard\Voucher for the amount of trade in and was it cancelled as well as removing your Cr/Card details? If not cancelled, then I would think they would be entitled to charge you if item wasn't returned. It was part of the T&Cs.

      • -1

Yea they did, just a bit annoying that I had to go back 6 months to check my record of payment to be sure of the right amount.

    • +1

Yes, do the right thing and pay.

Better to have clear conscience than worries and stress

      • Paid after confirming my records 👍

        • What did they ask you to pay? The value of the phone you traded? or plus the bonus value when trading in this case $300?
As my galaxy s10 is $0 value if craked but is $5 if sever scratches and it might be closer to crack?

          • @huntabargain: Just the value of the old phone chosen for trade in. In my case I didn't trade in my old iPhone 11 which was worth $300, so I had to pay $300 as I already had that amount discounted off the new phone. Kept the bonus discount codes.

            • @Handymancan: hmmm tempted to keep the P7 now

              • @bisaya: It's fine, old mates case shouldn't deter you as he was never charged when should have been.

  • Anyone who bought / pre-order the phone, what would be the total amount shown on the invoice for GST claim purpose? I have $5 valued Galaxy S10 phone. Thanks

    • Last time my p7 was $699, there was a $300 instant discount. The tax invoice didnt take into account the SquareTradeup discount but see how you go. I could still do a price protection claim down to $500 later.

  • +3

Time to wait 2 months for the dust to settle then pick up a good deal during black friday sales and after a bug patch or two

    • This is technically a good deal, it's $650 off or $550 off.

      • How is it $650 or $550 off. Are you factoring in the GV? If so, the GV is not a price reduction. I'm just curious that's all

      • At the end of the day you dont "save money" unless you "need" to buy something with the GV. To think your saving money in this deal, shows a great level of financial illiteracy and a big win for the marketing dept at google and/or Jb hifi not the consumer.

I just want a phone to replace my tired old S8 - thats all, I dont need some other "thing" to drain my wallet

Plus I wana claim the tax back when going overseas with the fam, so I needa wait for the 60day point

    • But then it's almost time for S24U .. if you're on the 6 mth upgrade cycle like myself

  • Can someone please explain this deal in simple terms. Please bear with me as I'm new here. I have a pixel 6a which is giving me a trading value of $150. How much is the standard Pixel 8 going to cost me? Excluding the gift voucher which is clearly not a price reduction. Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to clarify that.

    • +8

      Pixel 8 128gb is $1199 - $150 (trade in amount) - $300 (trade in bonus) = $749

You will pay $749 and receive Pixel 8 128gb and $250 JB gift card

      • Thanks so much for the clarification much appreciated.

  • +2

Telstra is offering a free pixel watch 2! Probably a better deal

    • +1

Yeah that's a good deal as well. Cheers

    • +1

This deal is $650 off in theory?

    • It is tempting to wonder if you could sell the pixel watch 2 unopened for say $600 and you end up with a bloody cheap Pixel 8/Pro.

    • Check out the Telstra upgrade and protect deal also

  • Just hope they add in other google products to sweeten the deal alot more like last years Pixel 7's (google nest and chromecast)

For me, I would have to pay out of pocket $899 just to upgrade to a Pixel 8 Pro 128Gb. That's not including the $350 JB GC which you can't redeem to pay for this purchase. Last year I'm pretty sure I only paid $600 out of pocket which wasn't so bad. Maybe should have kept the JB GC from last year to pay for this year's Pixel.

  • Wow, the pixel 8 base price is so much more than pixel 7 at launch

  • +1

I think i am gonna take the plunge, i got the pixel 7 at 355 coz of JB hi fi deal a few days ago. While the phone is great, it feels too blocky. pixel 8 is close to the screen size and feel (with rounded of edges) to pixel 5, which i believe was perfect size

    • +1

Best thing is Pixel 7 128gb is valued at $375 ahaha

      • Yep its like $20 profit straight up. I might even give them the pixel 5 this time for $50+300 discount and sell off 7 someplace else

      • Man makes the upgrade from 7 to 8 only $274, if you value the gift card at $1 per $1.

        Almost tempting

        • +1

How only $274 keeping in mind one had to pay $$ for initial Pixel 7. Any outlay for it has to also be factored in surely?

          • @Borg:

if you value the gift card at $1 per $1.

            $1199 - 375 - 300 - 250 = $274

I understand how they got the maths, but personally I do not value gift card at $1 per $1 like they do.

            • @CodeXD: But the $375 part is only achieved if one trades in the Pixel 7. What was the outlay for it as am sure wasn't $0.00.

              • @Borg: I got my pixel 7 for $349 from previous JB deal

                • @CodeXD: Exactly. So it cost you $349 hence one has to add this to the price of what you end up paying for the P8 (assuming you trade it in for $375) = $623 :-)

              • @Borg: Right, it would be upgrading my 7 which I've had for a year or what ever, for $274. The real downside is the gift card, as I don't buy much from jb

                • @Pacify: Ah fair enough if over a year old, perhaps $375 isn't too bad as a trade in.
Just checking it wasn't related to the recent deal that CodeXD (above) noted which in that case the $349 paid recently had to be added to total.

      • it was 350 in the earily morning when i frist saw this post and checked the trade in value. don't know why it went up. good thing anyway.

  • no wooden dummy in the store to touch feel and play with so don't know what it looks like especially the quality of the screen

    • Just go look at a pixel 7

      • but I'm not interested in a pixel 7
need to see the new curved design the new actua screen

        • You're not meant for pre-orders I'm afraid! I can't imagine they'll have demo Pixel 8's in store 'til Oct 12 at the earliest. I'm way too trusting, Google have earned that from me over the years with their Pixel range.
Mind you I've even bought my last 3 cars without ever sitting in a demo let alone test driving 'em, so maybe I'm way too trusting all 'round. I do spend a lot of time researching both journo and end user reviews…although that's not exactly possible with something like an unreleased phone.

          • @juzdownunder: I just bought my car without sitting and testing too all it took aas 1 glance at the traffic light and i was hooked 6 months later i bought it. Funny the stars lined up too, i came to an amount of money.

        • I'm unclear how a dummy phone would assist you then anyway.

          • @drprox: justifies to myself that at the very least I got to see and touch the wooden version better than justifying the purchase with pictures I see on the website

        • +1

need to see the new curved design the new actua screen

What phone and screen is that?
          PIxel 8 pro =LTPO OLED , Pixel 8 OLED

i noticed someone else said the 8P is now flat screen, not curved like the 7 which is good!

    • +1

I went to Canberra City JB hifi and they have a real one out for people to play with.

      • Jbb in sydney still displaying 7a like it was the future. Tragic

        • Oh but it is…..as I grabbed one last week (with fhe $300 off) as a future spare.

  • +1

Just went through the process, very swift and painless. Used both coupon, gift card from trade-in plus Ultimate gift card for the balance on JBhifi online.
Day and night difference compared to Officeworks trade-in process.

    • Just to clarify, you got a trade in balance ($x), and also used the bonus gift card from trade in on the purchase? If so, how? Hasn't the messaging been that the bonus gift card is sent after purchase?

      • The $300 bonus is provided via coupon code, the other $250/350 gift card will be provided after order. I used ultimate card I bought before for the balance.

  • I just went through the online trade in process, put in my bank details and got charged $500. I got the gift card and coupon in my email, but still the $500 hasn't been returned yet, is it going to be returned when they receive the phone?

    • Was ur trade in device worth 500$ or they have started pre authing the coupon value as well?

      • +1

        device was worth $500

    • it is a pre-auth. It will be released once device is returned, inspected and accepted. Fair enough as they give you the cash/voucher up front.

  • I'm sorry for the dumb question but how does the $300 bonus discount coupon work with Pre-orders, I see mention of the instant quote and credit, I'm just trying to understand if I can hold onto my old Pixel device until my Pixel 8 is received and then return it, but still use the credit towards this device as I don't have access to another phone I can use in the interim.

  • im only seeing the $50 credit for my phone applied in the cart..havent proceeded any further just yet but when does the $300 then get added on?

    • You should've received an email soon after completing the tradeup transaction. Received mine after initially receiving 3 or 4 other emails from SquareTrade. Thanks

    • Do the deal and process, then get a stack of confusing emails with coupons :)

  • Anyone else having issues with the ID verification? After returning from the mobile app to the website I'm getting an error saying ID verification was unsuccessful…

    • yes same

      • I guess I'll try it again in the morning…. No great rush!

        • No problem here. Traded and just bought 8 pro.

          • @Kepster: Still not working for me :(

            • @psmedley: got it working using my work iphone….. Now have the $500 gift card for my Pixel 7 Pro, and got the email with the $300 coupon, however there doesn't appear to be a valid coupon code in the email. The only number is an order number, which isn't recognised by the JB site <sigh>

              • @psmedley: You should've received an email containing the $300 voucher which you use before you checkout. Then another email with gift card which as you said is worth $500. You do this at the very end of payment where you have an option to use a GC.

                • @Kepster: where do you get $500 from?
The post says $350 GC + $300 Trade in Coupon with Pixel 8 Pro

                • @Kepster: The email with the coupon code seems to have a broken link for the coupon barcode….

                  $barcode3_tile_img

  • My plan

    1. Buy second hand xbox one series s for $120
    2. Trade in xbox for $40 plus $300 coupon
    3. Pre order pixel 8 for $1199 less trade in
    4. Recieve $250 gift card.

    Effectivley -120+340-1199+250= 729 for pixel 8.

Anyone see a better second hand option to buy for this deal?

    • +5

      Don't need to buy anything

Use Apple Watch 1st Gen 38mm Aluminum where serial no is optional - Trade in value $1. You are not going to use that $1 JB GC that squaretrade sends not care about the $1 preauth. Get the $300 trade in coupon and voila you are $299 in ahead.

Still recommend going through Google store with student beans/unidays 10% coupon + Google one 10% + $400 Google store credit. You can then use the Google store credit (it should arrive on 12th by mid-day) to buy another one from Google store and sell 1 of them on FB/Gumtree to even out the cost. But of a work, but should come out to about $850-$900 for the Pixel 8 Pro 256GB net

      • Any risk they chase you for the $300?

        • No, they don't. It's a GC/coupon from JB and not SquareTrade. They only chase you for the trade in value that's why they do a pre-auth on your CC.

    • Buy a smart watch for less than $100 then trade it in

  • +1

Just got my pixel 7 last month with JB trade in

The pixel 7 was $300 off RRP, so 699

Trade in 2 years old pixel 6 128g for $230 ,plus $300 trade in pixel phone discounts code .

End with $169 for pixel 7. One of JB staff keep told me to wait pixel 8, I told them pixel 8 will only have small upgrade and will cost at least $1100, even with pro order discount and trade in , it will still cost $550-$700.

$169 for pixel 7 is better value for me. Pixel always have discount, like $499 at Telstra 2 months ago.

    • Pixal 8 pro looks to be obtainable for $828 doing the Harvey Norman/cancel optus plan though

  • +1

Contemplating between this or the Telstra deal.
Got a pixel 6 and quite interested to upgrade my galaxy active watch

  • Another JB deal for Pixel 8, but not sure how the discount is applied and what way it would be calculated in cancelling plan early…

    https://imgur.com/j20Mmrx

    • Is it possible to stack that too??!

350 and 300 and 1000 somehow with mobile change too!?

      • +1

It says "or", so I assume it is not stackable. Sounds too good to be true too.

    • thats the same deal

      • I saw the $1000 off, but think in the end maybe the Optus HN deal works out cheaoer anyway.

    • Is that next weeks catalogue?

      • Yes, and it's also in the following weeks catalogue.

  • Has anyone pre-ordered in store and actually got the bonus GC on the spot? The wording on the JB site seems to suggest this is a possibility.

Pre-ordering in-store? Your gift card will be given at the time of order completion.

    • +1

Order completion = the time when they hand the phone over to you.

No customer is going to say the order is completed when they haven't received the phone yet.

  • +1

so sounds like you get the $350 gift card separately
but can I refund on the spot and use the $350 gift card and purchase again?
    Is that legit?

  • When do you receive the jbhifi bonus gift card $250 or $350 (depending on the model)?
I purchased online using the trade-in offer.
Do you receive gift card when you collect your Pixel phone?
Or is there a waiting period of some sort?
