JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will be sent out two weeks after order is placed online or will be available when collecting the device for in-store orders. Offer ends 12 October 2023.

$300 bonus discount coupon applies to Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro order when you trade in an eligible device via SquareTrade by 25 October 2023. This is in addition to the credit for your trade-in device.

For example, if you were to trade in a device with a trade-in credit value of $1:

  • Pixel 8 128GB $1,199 - ($300 bonus coupon + $1 trade-in credit) = $898 upfront. You then receive a $250 Gift Card effectively making it $648 (depending on what you do with the Gift Card).

      Sounds complicated, just decide if you want it first.
      $375 is a decent price, p5 trade in was $220 (but now $50). They go for up to $500 used on eBay.

      Easier buying outright and get a boost 365 day Sim.
      Another reason I like the P vs P pro, it's very affordable after discounts and vouchers.

          Then it doesn't have to be the Pixel 8 Pro, you can also buy the Pixel 8 and sell it off.

          I reckon marketplace will be full of people tryna flog off P8P from the HN deal so I would not recommend buying the P8P from JB just to resell.

            @CodeXD: Yes , plan is to buy the P8Pro from HN offer and pre-order pixel 8 with trade-in P7 and bonus trade in. Not sure hows the return and refund works with JB , do they offer full refund or partial refund + GV as I used the bonus gift voucher + trade-in credit.

              @listenam: It won't be full refund. They will refund what ever you paid in cash/card and return the trade in value via gift cards.

              At least that's what JB has told me in the past with similar deals to this.

    Anyone been told if there's a chance we can grab it in store on Wednesday?

    I was told Thursday by the store staff but seen posts in other years about getting theirs delivered the day before release. This is 1st time I'm doing a JB pre-order and pickup at store

      Devices might be embargoed til 12th. If so, JB can't release the phone early - this doesn't always stop all managers though….

      If Google allow an early release they will notify JB and then its up to stores to notify customers.

    did any of you with trade-ins have your credit card debited for the amount of the trade in? in my case it was $50 which was for the pixel and when i logged on to my credit card statement i noticed they have taken the $50 off..
    i was under the assumption that it was only to be taken IF i did not send in the phone

      it should be a pre-auth transaction, which essentially lock up the funds, in case they need to charge it later. it should come up as pending or something in your account rather than as an actual charge.

    Anyone bothering to sell P7 on ebay instead of trading? $375 is pretty good for zero effort, may get up to $500 - fees on ebay (shame the current promo isn't that great and discounted insertion fees caps out at $25 (~$150 worth). Still may get up to $100 extra with some accessories bundled in. Prob trade I guess.

    ps. the phones were on display in store.

    Emailing SquareTradeup is useless so far, in store can't do anything. Would even just sell the phone on eBay but need $300 off voucher at least. May have to wait a few months for other deals and just price protect claim it.

            It's got the history of transactions from last time. I did trade then changed my mind then they sent the phone back and charged the card $220 so all good. Maybe made things harder this time but was all above board.

        Not everyone who pre-ordered would have gotten in on the first wave. So there's a chance someone will go and not be allocated day 1 stock, it happens all the time. Customers have been told to wait till HN contact them first.

        Even less chance for those who didn't pre-order and want it on day 1.

          maybe, last year was able to pick up the pre-order on release day at about 9am (after receiving the email).
          Just finally ordered then and it said pick up availbale on release day (i'm sure they'd have a few there, not everyone is a pixel fan).

          When did you order ? I ordered on 8th night, no email other than the order confirmation which read "We'll let you know by 12 Oct 2023 when your pre-order can be collected". Order still show up as processing on the website. The product page shows the item as in stock at the store I have chosen to pick up, so hopefully I'll be able to pick mine up tomorrow.

      Usually happens when you do not correctly authenticate the security popup window triggered by 3D secure. Disable popup blockers if you have any or try with a different browser.

            You get the 3ds code sent to the number registered with your bank.
            I always get it with my NAB visa card.

            Definately check for the popup on a browser. Always fails on mobile

            I was having issues after the ID verification, hit next on the browser and it would give an error.
            They reset something and it worked this morning.

      Up to $500 on eBay perhaps minus at least $50-75 in fees. Personally not worth all FB marketplace messages and low ballers so think the trade in is easy and reasonable (but also agree they are worth a bit more). Mine doesn't owe me anything really so don't mind.

    Had preordered it instore couple of days ago, went in and collected it. Any one waiting to switch over from pixel 5, just do it, you would feel right at home with the form factor and single handed use, phone feels slightly lighter than pixel 7 too.

    Face unlock works for banking apps, the data transfer was a lil bit of wizardry. I just switched on the new phone and it automatically prompted me to transfer data over from pixel 7, and woke up my pixel 7 camera (despite having pixel 5 and 2 on in same room).

    Quite happy with the purchase and happy to let the pixel 7 go. Only wish they had the blue 8pro color on regular 8. Hazel looks nice, but nothing special compared to unique colors i had on my other pixel phones so far

          yeah, i was told by the store i will receive a text, but i did not receive any as well. Just walked in after calling. I think they have made a mistake with my invoice tho, it shows total price as 0 but shows the GST paid component. This was my first pre order through Jb Hi fi, is the tax invoice supposed to be like this?

    Did the pre-order of the base 8 and picked it up from JB, gift card was not given. I asked them to double-check, apparently it gets emailed within 24 hours of order completion if you pick it up. Anyone else picking up got issued their GC on the spot?

      If you pre-ordered online, you will receive it in email 2 weeks after pickup. Unless you preordered in-store then you get it on spot.

              @G-rig: To me, definitely the 8. Face unlock on banking and payment app feels much better. Plus the fingerprint scanner is definitely improved from 7, still optical I know, but better. 120hz,brighter etc.

                My pixel 7 fingerprint got better after doing all the tricks , and after some updates. Still, the 8 should be good will grab mine Sunday. Very marginal gains these days.
