  • Anyones name just come up as “Guest” without ability to edit despite popup?

    • It allowed me to change the name

  • For identification, easier to use the stock iPhone camera app itself. Or the Google app on iPhone

  • For IOS 15 and up

  • Seems a bit crap at identifying the indoor plants I have here.

    • Great lighting and uncluttered background I suspect is needed

Ie maybe try turning your lights all on and putting plant up against a blank wall

  • +1

Misidentifies plants in my garden and shows different results each time I take a photo of my mixed fruit yoghurt because of all the different colours haha

  • Got it to work. Just make sure in the App Store popup it actually says "Free for life" as the app name, and doesn't have the monthly/yearly subscription cost.

  • From my knowledge at looking at the developers other apps that these apps are using AI for the search results

  • I tried this app. Its plant recognition seems better than the top ranked "PictureThis", at least on Australian plants.

I have a few photos of "narrow-leaved drumsticks". In the beginning I didn't know its exact name, but PictureThis kept marking it as things completely irrelevant, even though I retried the identification for at least 10 times at different photos and different angles. Finally I described this plant using English and found its name through many, many Google searches.

Plant ID & Disease Identifier, in contrast, told me straightaway it was broad-leaved drumsticks. Not too far away, especially because my photo focused on the flower rather than the leaves.

Experimented on 6 photos of my plant photo library too, and it got the other plants all correct.

    • Tried this app as well on my wifes iphone 15 pro max then tried it for free on my pixel 8 pro google lens.. long story short we only have pixel now

  • Download and plan selection went smothly. but I get "Something went wrong, Please try again later" for all scans.. Does anyone else have the same issue?

  • The lifetime plan is showing up as $80 for me =/

  • Such an awesome find! Thanks, this app is brilliant and accurate.

    • I'm not sure its too accurate I took a picture of my daughters's toy hulk and it came back as Lycoperdon pratense. Just for reference the hulk was green and the thing returned was a white fungus looking ball.

  • It detected a weed and said it was a plant!

    • +2

A weed is simply a plant out of place.

  • Didn't need it. Got it. Thanks OP.

What is the meaning of this?

    • +1

Its a sincere question. Does anybody know what this means?

  • is this no longer free? Tried to press ‘free for lifetime’ however the options has greyed out and keeps on popping up the renewal subscription asking for payment : (

    • +1

I had to hold the button and got it. but then it kept popping up trying to charge. I killed the app and restarted and it seems to have worked but screw that shady behaviour i uninstalled it.

  • Might drag my old apple phone out of the junk box, at least it will be useful for something.

  • +1

    Not even remotely accurate

  • IDd my tomato plant as a Puccini and then a hibiscus …….

Got what I paid for !

  • +1

    Inaccurate and very slow UI

  • +1

I have a Calathea plant which was identified as Maranta Leuconeura by this app & Seek.
Tried it with Google Lens & PictureThis, both identified the plant correctly.

  • Thanks

  • Thought this was Plant3D

  • +1

Took a photo of some grass and it thought it was an aquatic plant of some sort. Not sure how accurate it is.

  • Thanks Op!

  • +2

this is useless, it identified by dog as a Psilocybin mushroom

    • My leatherman wave is Lactarius fungi

    • Have you tried licking your dog?

  • identified my johnny as cauliflower

  • You don't even need this app. iOS does this already.

    i.e.
    Take photo of tree/plant.
    Open photos, and find photo.
    Click on the (i) button.
    Click "Look up plant".

    • Whoa I didn't know this! I just tried it on a spider and it identified the spider species for me too!

  • Can confirm, this works on M1/2 Macs if you want to install it on your MBA or Studio.

  • +1

Apparently the lifetime option is no longer available… I can only see paid options.

    • Same. Just noticed in the version history there were bug fixes 1h ago with V 1.7.1. I wonder if that's the reason why?

    • Same :(

  • Looks like the app was updated 2 hours ago. Current offering is
    1) Yearly ($4.17/month) Not $99.99, $49.99 billed annually
    2) Weekly $9.99 billed weekly
There is also a toggle called 'Not sure yet? Enable free trial', which is actually a subscription to the yearly plan that starts billing in 7 days.

    • I got the same. Deals expired. App deleted.

  • lol the license has been reverted, it’s now asking me to pay for the diagnosis.
