  • Optus network?

    • Yes it is on the Optus network.

      • +6

Are you just using Optus' ADSL hardware, or are you reselling their network as well?

Because if you're reselling Optus' network, here's a a 200+ post thread on why customers might not want to use Optus' network to access the Internet:
        http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1786597&p…

        • +1

Isnt that cable Internet tho? Which is shared. And this is ADSL

        • +1

depends where you live really. if you have cable, you'll get better speeds than most people even during peak times

        • A) It's ADSL and Cable,
          B) The link is about International traffic - i.e. it's not just local congestion on a shared cable.

        • My understanding is most 3rd party ISP uses optus network. sometimes there are area where there is no ports or you cannot get optus, but those areas are serviced by the 3rd party ISP.
Altona meadows is an example. I could not get optus. not even a landline. so I have telstra landline and tpg(off-net) internet.

  • +1

ohhhh, 59.95 / month for the first 12 months, but only a 12 month contract … sounds liek quite the deal … cancel before it bumps up to 69.95 on the 2nd year

    • I can't speculate for 12 months down the track but we would hope that in 12 months time we will have a new offer for those coming out of contract but at this point in time it would bump up the $10 but still be $10 cheaper than the 'retail' offer.

  • Good deal.. how's the reliability on the internet connection and phone line though? Is it just as good as the "Optus Fusion" deal?

    • From a reliability point of view the service should definitely be comparable to that of the 'Optus Fusion', we don't currently have any concerns with customers on other plans with us on that network

  • +2

Looks good on paper but I am sure it has its hitches, there is bugger all trouble shooting info on their website.
I suspect you would be better off with a mynetfone Naked Deal with a voip account.
    https://www.mynetfone.com.au/Residential/Home-Internet/Naked…

    • We have our knowledge base online at http://www.acecommunications.com.au/ace-solutions-knowledge-… and customers can lodge cases with our support team either by phone/through self service portal. As a customer there really shouldn't be a lot of troubleshooting, once the service is up and running it should (and normally does!) just work. Obviously if you have any problems we are here to help and can lodge faults etc. on the service.

    • $99 setup fee on a 12 month contract

      • +2

You might be looking at a different plan/product. This offer is $0 connection/set-up fee and a 12 month contract.

        • +2

I meant $99 setup fee on the Mynetfone deal that sonicentropy referred to.

        • Sorry Holysmoke, misread what you were referring to! Thanks for clarifying.

        • lakemba not available.
pity as I would like to change from iinet naked dsl

    • I wish I could get naked adsl… I'll be lucky if I get fibre to my house in the next 5 years

    • I'm faced with exactly this choice right now, with both deals at $59.95 - Naked ADSL2+ with mynetphone (250/250, uploads not counted but $99 setup on 12 month contract), and this one - not naked but free landline and free calls.
Does it come down to the quality/reliability of Optus ADSL2+? Otherwise it seems like a no-brainer?

      Cheers!

  • -4

-ve for both Uploads and Downloads counted . Exetel 300GB peak & 600GB 12 months contract without connection fee is at 54.50 + 10$ for 9000 local & optus calls

    • +5

We understand some deals with other providers may work better for some customers, as far as I can see with Exetel you still have to then pay for your mobile calls on top so their plans are a bit different.

      • a good deal except I am on naked dsl which breaks this one with home phone rental

    • I'm on this plan but without the unlimited call option. I did pay $40 setup fee. This was back in june and back then it was 300gb/300gb but got upgraded to 300/600.

  • +3

    Exetel doesn't include mobile calls?

  • -8

•All local, national and calls to Australian mobiles included (excludes satellite phones)
should really read "Calls to Ace Mobiles unlimited*"
    as found at http://www.acecommunications.com.au/residential/extreme-adsl…

Not quite the same as all mobile calls being included.

Since this is a pre-launch, I may be mistaken in the details, although I have been deceived by an optus reseller previously about this very detail.

There are similar or better deals out there from more established businesses if you look after a cursory glance over the available offers

    • -8

Not quite the same as all mobile calls being included.

      Agreed

      • +8

The offer you are looking at online is a different package.

This new package which isn't officially launched does include mobiles to all carriers, not just Ace/Optus mobiles.

        • +4

          Thank for clearing that up.

        • By 'Includes' does this unlimited mobile/landline calls within Australia? (no 1900/13 numbers etc.) As with iinet atm i get unlimited landline calls aus wide but not mobile, and its naked so its voip calls. Might have been answered but 'calls included' sounds like a loop hole to say 'yeh calls are included, but you have to pay $1 per min'

Otherwise why doesnt it say 'UNLIMITED' calls to numbers in aus?

        • There is another page online at http://www.acecommunications.com.au/ultimate-bundle-pre-laun… which also specifies the offer. It does include at no cost calls to Australian mobiles (excluding satellite mobile phones), there is no loophole to then be able to charge you for those calls because we have used the word included.

Not using the word unlimited is just a choice of words for the offer nothing to do with trying to charge you for calls.

        • Included is a given/obvious word and im splitting hairs cos ive copped 4k phone bills in the past for not doing my due dilligence. Included to me says just that, you have the ability to make phone calls, where as unlimited like the iinet plans is finite (they have their fair use policy though).

Anyway doesnt matter to me as it seems you dont service Brunswick in melb. metro.

        • great deal
just can't get it in lakemba

  • -7

also, only unlimited call to ACE Moblies (not all other networks).

    • -6

sorry mate…hit -ve instead of +ve..!!

      • +1

Click votes and you can at least revoke the -ve, may not be able to click +ve after though.

    • Good pickup

    • +5

Confirming this package definitely includes calls to all mobiles, not just Ace mobiles. The description put in the post and also online at http://www.acecommunications.com.au/ultimate-bundle-pre-laun… is correct. We aren't trying to trick anyone with what the inclusions are.

  • -4

I think the club telco is by far the best in the market @ da moment which is $52.50 unlimited ADSL2+ and line rental and $50 annual membership without any contracts so it turns out to be $56.66/mth for 12 months.
Although it has to be in the local zone. Anyother suggestions or can beat it..?! I had it for 5 months so far all good.

    Happy to hear criticisms…!!

    • +2

Yeah but, who is actually in their extremely limited local area? So far I haven't heard from a single person who's able to get that price.

      • Not comparing ClubTelco to this deal but I thought I would be one of the first you hear of that gets that price haha.

I have been with ClubTelco for over 10 months now and am loving it.

For anyone that is interested.. Yes, it is completely Unlimited. I download anywhere from 600GB to 1.75TB a month.

I have a land line with them that I don't use. It is just so I can use the net.

        I pay $52.25 total a month + the $50 annual fee.

A couple more reasons I like them is its month to month and they also don't charge you any fees for relocation.

I really would recommend them to anyone that can get it =)

      • I can get the ClubTelco price as I'm in the 'local area', so it is definitely available to people.

Yet for this AceCommunications deal, I can't get any of the packages at my house (says to refer to mobile broadband instead, and even that isn't available!)

For my parents house, I can only get the Platinum packages (with platinum pricing).

So whilst the deal itself seems great and I'd like to sign up, unfortunately it is no good for me.

    • But ClubTelso does not include umlimited local/national/mobile calls! Different kettle of fish, hardly neg worthy.

  • +2

    16s slower than Colinjames, damn

  • can you use back-to-base alarm on telephone line?

    • It is a normal PSTN/landline so the back to base alarm should work fine.

  • +2

Just what the utterly swamped and completely oversubscribed Optus network needs, more leeches with 500 gigs a month to burn through.

  • -5

Provide ADSL2+ service in my area but unable to offer bundle because of regional areaa…

    • Rep…any good deals for our Ozbargainers in "regional areas"??

      • To not confuse offers if you can send an email to [email protected] with your phone number/or address (if you don't have a phone line connected) and advising that you are in a regional area we'll see what custom package we can put together for you comparable to this offer.

        • will do

    • +1

Just because you can't get it doesn't mean you should neg it… Unless you feel that the deal itself is bad.

  • +6

Just to confirm for everyone reading this.

This pre-launch package definitely includes calls to ** all AU mobiles **, not just Ace mobiles. The description put in the post and also the link is correct. We aren't trying to trick anyone with what the inclusions are.

    • +1

      just a quick question:

it says this in the addition fees section for the "69.95 extreme plan":

      "Connection Fee – 12 Month Contract $0
Static IP (monthly fee) $4.95 per month"

is the "static IP" fee also charged for those that take up this special pre-launch offer thing? In other words will the monthly bills be $59.95 or $64.90??

      • The static IP is optional, if you would like to add a static IP you can which is $4.95 per month but it isn't mandatory. So the monthly bills will only be $59.95 (as long as you don't make any types of calls that aren't included and don't require a static IP.

  • +5

Why all the neg's? This doesnt look like a bad deal seeing that the mobile calls confusion has been cleared up.

  • +6

I think this is a good deal, the rep seems to be honest

    • +6

Thanks Montorola, we've been in business over 10 years and we would never launch anything that attempts to 'trick' people . This offer was actually put together after gaining feedback from OzBargain members through the forums - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76847.

  • +3

I'll vote positive to try and even it out a bit. More competition can only be good for everyone. :)

  • +4

what's with the negs? i don't see anything wrong with this deal (at first glance). I'm currently on the $99 optus fusion plan and am seriously considering changing over to this (saving $40 per month or $480 an year!!! :O wow)…expires on september 30th?!? Better hurry up..

  • +3

This is a great deal! I'm currently on the Optus Fusion $79, with another 5 months on the contract, but by switching, I make back the cancellation fee in 5 months and I get more data + mobile calls. 12 month contract is also a plus. I think I'll go for it!

  • I'm on a grandfathered Optus plan from …umm…8 or 9 years ago for about 150GB which costs $80 I pay line rental of $36 per month and it's a business account(self employed). No upload counted on the old plan but I never use it all up since the kids left home and I curbed my piracy but I'm regional NSW the forgotten part of Australia.

Can this be used on the Far North Coast NSW?

(Yeah I'll check the website shortly, was just hoping for quick reply from Rep)

    • Sorry for delayed response Luc. I'm guessing you may have already checked and have your answer, if you do still need assistance working out if you can get it please email [email protected] with your details and we'll check it out for you and advise.

  • can I book it now and use it later? my property is not settle til november….

    • same my property will hopefully settle in november too… would like to know this too, anyone?

      • +1

Unfortunately for this offer it does need to be ordered and available for us to apply for the service before the end of the month.

That said I'd still love to help you out and do what we can for you when the time comes. Please email [email protected] a month out from when you settle with your new address details and referencing this offer.

  • +1

    Hi Rep

i'm on the naked optus adsl2+, can i churn to you seamlessly?

    • I'm on NakedADSL with TPG. Just to be clear, you guys will be paying for me to reconnect my phone line (previously had Telstra line)?

$0 Connection Fee (includes option of line being connected at no cost if a line has been active at the premises previously)

      • +1

cloud226 and thangcuoi - Both of these should he fine to churn and yes the connection fee covers activating a previously connected line. However to play it safe if you would like to email [email protected] your current address along with what service you have we can double check the churn should be able to proceed without any problems.

  • +2

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Good deal rep…thanks for posting

  • +3

    Hi Ace,
    Quick Question ,
Can you possibly make the 1300 number included, its for some horrible organisations like vicroads, medicare etc, who do not give out their standard 8 digit numbers.

Apart form that its a great deal

    • +4

And your own support number is a 1300.

      1300 223 266

      • +1

They also do list their standard phone number on their website: 03 8689 9200

        • +1

We would love to be able to make 1300 numbers included but unfortunately we just don't have that as an option with our wholesale supplier currently. As syba mentioned we do promote our 03 number so people can call that at no cost on this plan. I know it is impossible with some companies to get a standard 02/03 etc. number out of them to call but sometimes if you do ask they will give it to you (but just not publish it).

    • +2

      Medicare's number is 03 6222 3455
      Vicroads' number is 03 9854 7763

When I was on the TPG mobile plans that also excluded 1300 numbers, it became necessary to find these numbers out.

  • Hi Rep,
    I like the plan.
I am paying $99 per month to Optus with 1 TB broadband and unlimited calls to any landline or mobile. Only think I dont like about your plan is paid 1300 number calling. As it is a pity we have to call 1300 numbers for most of the support call centres and calls can have frustratingly long wait time, which in return is due to less support lines or too many support calls to call centres like Vodafone.

So a suggestion is to have a plan with unlimited calls and even 300 GB data for around $65. Otherwise, I am happy to stay with my $99 plan.
That said, its just a suggestion.

    • +1

Thanks for your feedback, we'll keep that in mind for future offers in case there is anything we can do along those lines.

      • I will wait for a free 1300 deal :)

  • +9

I have no affiliation with Ace, just my analysis and opinion

I think this is a good deal, there is no other deal in Australia that offers unlimited calls to mobile from a landline for less than $60 a month. You could get an unlimited mobile SIM that is about $40 per month but this does not include 500GB fixed (ADSL) data. ADSL has its issues but sure as hell beats 3G reliability and small data allowance that you get with a $40 voda/optus based SIM. Also with a Landline you can use it in many rooms at once. And it would be cheaper than a high usage mobile plan in addition to having ADSL at home for a high usage data allowance.

Optus and Telstra have unlimited calls to all mobiles/landlines/national starting at $129. There is a $79 price point on optus (And Exetel on $40) but this only includes OPTUS moiles. Its hard to tell whos who with mobile number portability and can easily be paying the expensive rates if you get it wrong.

As far as Optus oversubscribed for international traffic. I was of the understanding that Optus provides DSLAMs at the Exchange and backhaul to the resellers' POP (Point of Presence), then the reseller handles International backhaul with other networks from there, so using an Optus DSLAM does not necessarily mean that the ISP is using Optus International backhaul. At least this is the case for Exetel (from their network maps) I don't know for Ace if they are in a similar boat.

Also on top of this, the company I work for (an IT Consulting firm for small business) have MANY clients who use Ace, for internet and Office VOIP PBX Systems. Most of these clients have come to Ace because the company I work for recommends them.

The reason why the company I work for recommends Ace is because their service is the best we have ever come across. In all cases when dealing with our clients they have handled everything from start to finish. They do everything for you and won't stuff you around, none of our clients have had a single problem with them at all whatsoever.

We have two kinds of clients when it comes to Office moves. Client's who take our advice to go to Ace, and those who don't. Those who don't listen always have lots of problems, usually lasting for weeks. Those who do listen always have a smooth changeover.

They are without a shadow of a doubt more reliable than Telstra/Telstra Business and other big names when it comes to business and moving offices. If there is problem even if it is outside their control (eg: Telstra cutting the lines or not connecting in time for the move) they will find a workaround.

What I really like about their IP PBX system is that it will automatically divert everything (all user extensions and the main number) to the mobile phone of the user who would normally take the call until everything is running normally if Telstra take too long connecting the lines or there is an internet outage for some reason (eg: Telstra decides to cut the line). A hassle but doesn't cripple the business.

Calls through VOIP on Ace are cheaper than landline/ISDN too, call quality is perfect because they set up completely separate ADSL line for VOIP than for internet. And moving offices once already on Ace VOIP is as simple as plugging the handsets onto another internet connection (as the PBX is hosted this does not move).

Again, I have no affiliation, this is just the knowledge I have about them. They are a small company so people who might not of heard of them before should know that they aren't some dodgy startup trying to win customers with cheap prices to try and turn into a real ISP.

  • +1

If I churn back to Telstra after the 12 month contract is over, can I still keep my same telephone number?

    • No reason why not. Far as I know, you own the number until you decide to give it up.

    • TPG users on the unlimited internet/phone bundle have reported issues keeping their old number if they decide to leave.

    • +1

I can't really comment from experience and it would be something to clarify with Telstra but I can't see why Telstra couldn't take the number/line back. But best bet would be to double check with Telstra if you are concerned about this.

    • In my case it happens but it's other way around. I am currently having Telstra number and Ace Communications informed me that my number has to be changed when I moved from Telstra to Ace. They informed me after checking with Telstra.

  • Doh can't get the service… Figured as much.

  • i know it said Home Phone, just want to make sure rep, is that a real home phone number (can use as fax) or it is voip number like tpg? thx

    • from rep —> "It is a normal PSTN/landline"

but i'll stick to my TPG unlimited + mobile bundle

    • Confirming it is a standard PSTN line so you should be fine for fax.

  • G'day Rep, I'm currently with Optus if I come across to you guys would I be able to retain my old
    Optus telephone no.?

    • +1

There should be no reason you can't retain your phone number, however to play it safe if you can email [email protected] your current phone number and the question of retaining it we can double check for you.

  • +1

Not available here, must be using Optus DSLAMS, which have very limited coverage and also means you may not be able to Fast Transfer in future.

    • Confirming that it is using Optus DSLAMS.

  • -4

Don't you love it when the rep drops off the radar.
I wonder if it has anything to do with office hours?
Like the guys knocked off now…see you in the morning after nine…nah that's Telstra+Optus surely…

    • +2

Nothing to do with office hours Luc, just had something on tonight that I had to head out to which was organised months ago.

Back online now working through the many questions :)

      • Ah cool, sorry about that, it must be my whirlpool personality coming out…

        • No worries :)

  • Will I be able to use fax with this service?

    • +1

      yes it's a normal PSTN line…………………………….

    • Yes fax should be no problems.

  • Sooooo…. how do you manage to make it so cheap?

It all seems fairly legit apart from the unlimited calls to mobiles. How do you avoid the exposure of massive interchange charges?
