    • It is a special package we have been able to negotiate after the discussions in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76847. We wanted to put together something that was going to be of interest but also that was a limited time pre-launch offer to reward those who signed up 'early on'.

  • Ridiculous, not eligible for Extreme Bundle. but able to get all other Bundle’s. Makes no sense.

    • The Platinum ADSL 2+ bundles which you may be referring to are on the Telstra network whilst the Extreme/Ultimate are on the Optus network. If you want to email [email protected] your address/phone we can double check for you and also offer you discounted/custom alternative if you can't get this particular offer.

      • Thanks for the reply i have sent an E-mail to sales team, my neighbors on the Optus ADSL 2+ network, so im hopping this means i can get this offer, probably not as simple as that, i know i cant get TPG here.
This is a Good Deal if i can get it.

        • Thanks, we'll check it out and come back to you.

  • I have TPG 500gb plan. Aside from the obvious benefits of the bundled phone and mobile calls how is this likely to measure up? Speed? Reliably?

  • What are cancelation charges say if i cancel in 6 months. Cause we gonna move to different property at the end of the year or 6 months.

    • The coupon code will also make you eligible for a $65 relocation fee if you need to relocate during the contract.

    • FYI "The coupon code will also make you eligible for a $65 relocation fee if you need to relocate during the contract."

  • All seems good here except one thing - what happens after the 500GB data limit is exceeded? Is it a capped plan, or are there excess data charges?

My parents view most of their TV through on-demand HD streaming, so this is quite important as those streams seriously suck up bandwidth quickly!

    • Confirming the speed is shaped to 72kbps and no additional charges apply.

  • +1

with calls to mobiles included it is an excellent deal…

  • I'd like to know what happens if you exceed the data limits?.. That being said, the most data use I have in last 18 months is around 320 gb.

Also what is the fair use policy on calls? Currently use pennytel voip crazytalk plan, which is supposedly 2000 minutes per a month.

  • they have peak and off-peak, •All plans include both peak and off-peak data of equal value. Off-peak data is between 1am and 8am AEST

    • Not the new deal, the rep said this deal has all-time data.

    • Confirming this plan has no peak/off-peak, it is just 500GB.

  • I'm just surprised no one had asked this yet.

Does this offer include a wireless router, do you have to purchase one from you or can we use our existing one?

main reason for me to switch is being sick of my dodgy ISP router and have crap VOIP calls.

    • Same here. I have completed a 2 year Fusion 109 optus plan and would like to know if the same wireless modem will work on this service.

    • The offer doesn't include any hardware so you could either use your existing one (as long as it is ADSL 2+ compatible and not locked to current provider) or we could sell you a Netcomm NB604N ADSL 2+ Modem/Wireless Router/4 Port Switch for $119 plus $22.50 delivery with the unit being pre-configured. You are of course welcome to source your own modem/router if you do need a new one but at this price we unfortunately can't include one.

  • Id like to see how TPG is going to respond to this offer !!

  • shucks

Signed up with TPG only last week! And my home phone is still not working!

    • you can follow the installation on the tpg website using your account details, my bet is that they are waiting for telstra to do something, it happened to me and it was out of their hands it was much longer than a week for me a few years back. I have been with tpg since before they were called tpg… i honestly have never had major issues with them but i know some who have, service (as in helpdesk etc) will never be amazing but you can tell that from the prices of their packages.. :)

  • Blasted bad luck - I'm on iinet naked with free VoIP home phone. The last thing I want to do is revert to POTS, otherwise I'd have been very interested.

No option for a VoIP service instead?

    • Sorry not on this particular offer but we'll keep your request in mind for the future if we can do anything.

  • wow, seems a pretty good deal

  • Good deal but I'm with a few others in that it's a pity that 13/1300 numbers aren't included. I'd be interested in knowing the reason behind it though given it's basically a local or national landline behind that number.

    • The only reason they aren't included is we can't get that from our supplier so therefore we aren't in a position to offer them at no cost as part of the plan. I do understand your frustration, even looking at our VoIP plans for comparison it costs us substantially more for a 1300 call compared to a 'local/national' call (and hence the higher charge to customers on the VoIP plans). Sorry we can't do anything on these calls for this bundle at the moment.

  • Says my number can get every bundle including the Extreme.

Seriously considering it because I have been with iiNet for over 6 years (TPG ADSL2+ not available on my exchange) and on average I pay $50 for 200GB, $30 Line Rental, $20-30 Phone Calls.

Cannot find ACE on the whirlpool forums so Quick questions
    1) We can keep our home phone number?
    2) Is ACE a normal ADSL2 provider like an iiNet or something like a Vivid Wireless (Want to avoid that)
    3) If streaming an external hard drive over wifi to a WDTV Live Streaming Media Player for example, does this use uploads/downloads as currently on iiNet it has been fine.

    Saving $40-50 is definitely tempting.

    Any advice appreciated.

    • Thanks for the questions. Answers below:

      1. Best way for me to check this / advise your options in this situation is if you can email [email protected] your number/address and we'll check it out and come back to you.

      2. We are a normal ADSL 2+ provider.

      3. Sounds likes this is just data across your local network so therefore it won't count towards your Internet usage.

      • Thanks. Will email now.

  • Wish Optus resold their cable too for offers like this…

  • I'm currently on the optus cable premium speed pack which is giving great speeds most of the time. Do you plan to release plans that will match those speeds?

    • Unfortunately we can't offer services on the cable network so it would be at ADSL 2+ speeds which of course can vary depending on how far you are from the exchange etc.

  • damn no coverage in Ryde, Sydney area? i was seriously thinking about changing from TPG. disappointed.

    • If you want us to do an address check for you to make sure the check online was accurate please email [email protected] and we'll double check before you rule it out.

  • How long does it take to switch if I'm already currently with Optus and also Optus land line?

    • I have the exact same question. Hopefully the rep can advise on changeover timing/days.

      • The 'estimated' timeframe for transfer is 10 to 12 business days officially however the last Optus to Ace transfer we did I think went through in about 2-3 business days.

        • +1

Sounds good. Just signed up as my contract with Optus has expired and I will facing increased pricing from next month.

  • +1

Not Eligible :-( wish I was. Good deal and a very patient and helpful rep !

  • I'm a bit confused so I'm going to email you guys regarding the availability.

  • How long does it takes from placing an order and get it available at home?

    • As long as there has been a line connected previously the estimated timeframe for connection is 10-12 business days.

  • Is it quicker if you are churning from another isp or is it the same irrespective?

    • +1

We quote the same irrespective to play it safe but we have found if coming from Optus it normally goes through quicker.

  • Hi Rep - im currently on optus cable with home phone and am considering taking this up

What would be required to change over from optus cable to your adsl? New modem, router, home phone, installation? I currently have a cable 4200 surfboard modem (which I assume I cant use for adsl) and a linksys router connected to it

    • +1

You would need a new modem but you could keep using the Linksys router behind it. You could either source your own modem (as this offer doesn't include hardware) or we could sell you a Netcomm NB604N ADSL 2+ Modem/Wireless Router/4 Port Switch for $119 plus $22.50 delivery with the unit being pre-configured.

In regards to line connection the safest bet would be to email [email protected] your address details along with what your situation is and we can confirm what is required and that you can get the service.

  • Do you offer add on home phone services such as silent number and CND?

    • By default there is no listing on the number, if you want a Whitepages listing there is a cost of $2.20 per month.

I just want to double check something re the charge for CND, I'll let you know ASAP.

      • My understanding is that silent number and unlisted number are two different things - silent number is when outgoing caller ID from the landline phone is blocked/hidden.

Would you be able to provide clarification as to whether the landline phone number with Ace is silent by default, or if there are any associated costs?

        • I'll double check for you and confirm just to make sure I can clarify all in one hit.

        • Thanks mate.

    • Just letting you know I haven't forgotten about this, just waiting on a response from someone re the CND.

    • Just letting you know that Calling Number Display (display the number of the person calling you) is charged at $2.20 per month and must be requested after activation.

  • I've Telstra cable broadband. Is the modem included in the monthly plan?

    • Unfortunately we can't include a modem on this offer. You would need an ADSL modem which you could either source your own or we could sell you a Netcomm NB604N ADSL 2+ Modem/Wireless Router/4 Port Switch for $119 plus $22.50 delivery with the unit being pre-configured.

  • Hi, Just would like to know the traffic shaping of your ADSL 2+ service in terms of download and upload speed. Thanks.

    • Do you mean once you hit your data limit?

  • Hi rep, any support for Telstra feature of Faxstream Duet? I'm considering disabling Faxstream Duet but last I checked the Telstra guy said it might take 1-2 weeks. Can I get in on time?

    • Unfortunately no support on Telstra Duet as we are using the Optus network for this offer. If you lodge the order even with Fax duet on the line still we'll honour the price even if we have to wait for Telstra to disconnect it for you.

  • Also with data throttling when 500GB is exceeded is it 72kbps up and down?

    • It is 72kbps both up and down.

  • Just checked my number, can't get the Extreme Bundle! =(

Must be cause of Hell$tra and the RIM that I'm on….fail.

  • How do Optus Cable speeds compare to ADSL 2+ if you're a few KM away from the signal tower? I'm on Optus Cable 120GB free calls ~ $80/mth atm..I want to be convinced its worth the change!!!

    • Honestly it is really hard to answer that as different houses in different areas will be getting different cable speeds and without you being on ADSL 2+ we don't know what sort of sync speed you are going to get. Only thing I can suggest is if you could find a neighbour on ADSL 2+ and see what their speed is like and use that to give you a 'rough idea'.

  • I have a phone number on the Optus HFC network. Am i able to port this number to you?

    • Unfortunately we have no way to transfer that number from the cable network to PSTN for you. Sorry.

  • Sounds like a great deal ACE, will give it some thought. Jut wondering, do you cancel my current provider for me (like a mobile phone churn) or do I need to contact them myself?

Also, out of curiosity, do other providers offer cheaper options with no phone mins included? Don't really use the home phone, but it seems like other providers charge a similar amount without any phone allowance!

    • We would transfer the service to us which should result in your provider cancelling the service at that point. We do however recommend that you contact your provider after the transfer has gone through just to double check/make sure they have seen the transfer go through to us.

Not sure if second question was directed at us but in this case we could offer the same deal without phone line and no calls but the price wouldn't change so we though this offer was of better value :)

"Netcomm NB604N ADSL 2+ Modem/Wireless Router/4 Port Switch for $119 plus $22.50 delivery with the unit being pre-configured."

[Not trying to be controversial but you have decided to target Ozbargainers…]

OP, That model sells for $85 on MSY. You've marked it up 40% from that price.
I'm assuming you're trying to make money from the sale of net services not sale of Modems. Is AceCommunications seriously going to stick with $119 plus delivery?

And if so, can you please just post up configuration details here so it's possible for us to do our own configurations after buying the modem outside?

    • +3

Honestly we aren't in the business of selling hardware and the very high majority of our customers are BYO modems. You are correct that we make our money off the sale of net services compared to modems so if a customer does want a modem all pre-configured / delivered and bundled in with their order we can do it but because we use an external company for the config etc. it does cost us more.

We've got no problems with you sourcing the modem elsewhere and us providing you the details you need to configure it (although it is just the basic settings).

We were going to make this offer with no option of hardware at all but have that in there as an option if someone really wants one hassle free. Hope that explains :)

    • +2

$56.50 is a small premium to pay to have the modem preconfigured and delivered anywhere in Australia for someone who is uncomfortable to do this themselves. It could easily cost more than this to have a computer technician visit you to do the same.

If you have a friend or are comfortable in doing this yourself, you can get whatever modem you like from anywhere you want as Ace already stated that you are welcome to and the default option is to bring your own modem. Also MSY prices are often less than wholesale for everyone else so not a fair comparison, not everyone can compete with MSY's buying power

  • Do you offer unlisted/private numbers?

    • +1

The default option is an unlisted number, if you want Whitepages listing it is an extra fee of $2.20 per month.

  • What is the cancellation fee if you cancel within the 12 month contract?

    • The relocation fee is $65 and the cancellation/early termination fee (e.g. termination no new service being connected) is $220.

  • How long does it take after application to get a confirmation email?

    • We are going to send out custom ones to make sure people get confirmation they received the 'promo'. For the applications so far you should receive them today or tomorrow.

  • Just a heads up that we have received a massive amount of enquiries (thanks all for your support!) and are working to get back to everyone. For those we haven't yet spoken to / emailed back yet we will be back to you shortly.

  • Can I keep my existing phone number that I currently have if I sign up for this?

  • Hi Ace
I see this deal runs our at the end of Sept. Just wondering, what is the likely date that i old supplier will be notified and cancelled? Only reason is my contract runs out on the 3rd of next month with dodo, and so as to avoid a fee to break contract, it would be great to have it change after that date. Is this possible? Thanks

    • To play it safe when you lodge the order make a note for us not to lodge it before 3 October. It will take officially 10 to 12 business days to go through but in case it does go through quick we'd rather lodge it once you are out of contract. You can put that request in the comments section on the order.

      • well played sir. I notice you guys are predominately a b2b company, is this your first major foray into b2c? Seems like a great way to go about it. Only thing I would suggest is to get a better following/communication through whirlpool. Cheers

        • We've always provided consumer/home services (but as you said have a larger business customer base) and depending on the year/offer had varying success and interest but this would be one of our most aggressive offers from over the years. We do interact on Whirlpool from time to time mostly in regards to our VoIP services but do keep an eye overall in case people do have questions about ADSL/other services. Thanks for your feedback :)

  • When I used the Service Availability Check on the Ace website yesterday it said I was ineligible for the Extreme Adsl 2+ Home Bundle, but today it is coming up as eligible. Any reason this would be the case? I used the same landline phone number both times, obviously.

    • There is a chance that the exchange had no ports available as of yesterday but today has 1 port spare (or more). We actually had the reverse with another customer who the exchange had availability yesterday but today is listing no ports.

  • Hi rep, still waiting on a reply from [email protected] and I emailed last night.

    • We are working through them all still at the moment so hopefully should have the majority all responded to by the time we finish up later this evening.

If you want to private message me on here with your email address I can jump to yours (and also check that we received it OK).

  • +1

I'll sign up - if you include the wireless modem :P

  • +2

Here's a link to the FAQ page, in case anyone had anymore questions. I found this pretty useful, instead of asking the rep the same questions again and again. BTW, i wanna commend the rep on being patient, informative and honest.

  • Saying ineligible to only Extreme????
    Email sent to check?

    • Unfortunately probably means Optus doesn't have coverage in your area, the other bundles are using the Telstra network. We'll double check and advise.

  • Note that the plan is only available to those who can drive (can't create an account without a valid driving license for some reason).

    • If you don't have a drivers license please just put a comment in that field advising you don't have a drivers license.

      • Thanks and done. Please ignore my PM.
