        Good point… Will wait

and series 11 is rumoured to be "Ground-Breaking" (compared to Series 6)

        • +4

Series 11 will be a portable excavator

          • @SlappersOnly: It is an invisible one according to insiders.

            • +1

@Wiser: My current watch is also invisible. It keeps disappearing whenever I go to put it on

            • @Wiser: It will be subcutaneous. With the Apple mark on the skin surface.

              Alternative placement in the forehead.

@SlappersOnly: “Series 11 will be a portable excavator”

            Good one lol

        • Blood pressure sensor would be pretty groundbreaking. Also a good excuse for Apple to finally update the band clasp.

          "Our best watch yet".

      • +4

I'm waiting for the series 100 centenary edition. Rumoured to come with the new holographic touch time-portal AI vector matrix features alongside Steve Jobs animatronic dungeon experience (apparently pre-orders also get Tim Cook and Johnny Ives expansion packs free rather than 500,000 Australian-Yuan cost)

Welcome to Apple. There's always something better on the horizon. Probably the best time to buy is after a major refresh, so you can enjoy the latest and greatest for the longest time. But you may as well buy now, what are you going to do, leave your wrist naked for 11 months? Or 23 months if next year is just an incremental update..

      • leave your wrist naked for 11 months?

Won't be getting one until the battery life significantly improves…
It currently doesn't even last 1 day.

        • Get the ultra?

          • @Clain: My accountant says no…

        • Exactly, it's a no for me especially when Garmin's venu 3 is now like 10 day plus which I got in the recent deal here! First smart watch for me!

  • Hi OP, are you be able to advise, how do you get $497.82?

    Apple watch $616.55

Price match officeworks by 5% $585.73

    10% ultimate $527.xx

Pls correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

whats the point of these when battery lasts 18 hrs? when do you charge it? while sleeping? in the morning?
    pointless but sells i guess

    • +2

after waking up (such that you record sleep data) but before leaving the house for the day

      • +4

Series 7+ has fast charge so gets 85% in 45 mins. Take it off when you get into the shower in the morning and will be full by the time you leave.

    • About as pointless as tracking your sleep.

      • +4

sleep tracking and hear rate variation during sleep is the best tool that helps you stay at peak performance my friend.
not on apple thought, Garmin - with 2 week battery life….

        • I'm not an elite athlete, probably get a hundred k's of running, a couple hundred cycling in each month, 50-55 CTL and have a sub 45 resting heart rate..

That said, my fitness has dwindled since I've started trying to utilise watch data. I'd like to say I've just plateaued but honestly I think sticking to a good 80/20 plan with nothing but heart rate tracking during exercise is better for me personally.

I know a few guys who use their Garmins to what they think is great advantage but, I also feel like they'd be just as fit without. Just my two cents though… probably better to spend the apple watch money on a cycle of PEDs.

          • +2

@Assburg: during exercise hear rate is all you need yes and if your real serious - you need a strap as well.

I dont really rely on Garmin sleep data as much to tell me how to train though, but say the stress function is very good, if thats off during sleep for eg and its high , there is something going on - like your sick or getting sick, then I do take it easy
sleep data is not 100% i dont think

I would definitely pay $600 for a Fenix watch any day over Apple thought

        • Yep got the venu 3 for the battery! It's been pretty smooth for me but nothing to compare as it's my first smart watch!

      • +2

        What's wrong with sleep tracking?

    • I kept my old one to wear when sleeping, and I wear the new one in the day. If I’m going to get sweaty or dirty I’ll put the old one on too.

      • Get out of here ? Why?
Do you have all the apple ecosystem

        • I suppose I do. I can't think what I'm missing in the ecosystem, so I guess I do have it all.

I had the smaller original aluminium wifi Apple Watch. Gave the old one to a kid nephew, who gave it to his friend regrettably, buying friends with used watches smh. I later upgraded to the series 5 small aluminium wifi. I wanted stainless steel, cellular, and blood oxygen but didn't want to spend like a thousand bucks, so I bought a used one. I wanted stainless steel gold but settled on a cheap large series 6 silver stainless steel cellular. Wasn't sure what to do with the old series 5 so I just wear it at night when sleeping. It's nice having Siri on your watch too, can say "Siri, turn light off" or "Siri, turn fan on". I suppose I could say that to my phone next to my bed too.

Also the used series 6 I bought came with a genuine Milanese loop. I used a knockoff previously. Honestly can't tell the difference between them, but it's nice knowing it's genuine anyway. The series 6 is a bit brighter in always on mode too which is nice.

Keep wanting to upgrade from series 0 but still haven't pulled the trigger.

  • I have been holding out for a 45mm gps + cellular to go on sale for 4 months now :\ Its always the gps only models that go on sale. Dont care if its an older 8 model or the 9, I'd even mug a grandma if it meant I could get a discounted 45mm gps + cellular model

    • Bruh, I posted this not long ago: https://ozb.me/o/3N90?u=em

      • how did that slip through the cracks f me dead that deal was perfect for me

        • Subscribe to the model or any future model you want and you'll never miss it in the future. I jumped onto the recent Venu 3 immediately when I got the notification

    • +2

Hey mate, if you're after one, I'd recommend buying directly from Apple's refurbished store. They come with the same warranty as a new Apple watch and are brand-new product, just come in a box that says it's "Certified Refurbished".

      https://www.apple.com/au/shop/refurbished/watch/apple-watch-…
      https://www.apple.com/au/shop/refurbished/watch/apple-watch-…

Plenty to be saved if you go this route. Your configuration may not be in stock but keep an eye out for it. I also recommend googling your exact model and so you can add it to your favorites to make it easier to check. Also, there's stock discrepancies; sometimes they do not appear on the Apple Store app but are on the website, and vice versa.

Tell me how you go :)

      Edit: They have 45mm S8 GPS + Cellular in-stock for $659! https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/FNK43ZP/A/refurbished-…

Brought an s8 41mm gps the other week for under 500 from Apple refurbished. Couldn't tell it wasn’t new. 100% battery health and not a mark on it.

      • Thank you for this information! Will definitely check this out

    • LTE version cannot be used with prepay services it has to be the expensive PostPay plans where it leaves a dirty mark on your credit history

      • from the looks of it, as im with telstra all I need is this:

        https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/one-number

am I correct or is there something else that is expensive that I require which you are alluding to?

        • If you’re already with a PostPay plan than you just add some more to activate the data on your watch and it will share your existing number however this will not work if you only have a prepaid plan.

          • @paloverde88: Thankfully I am on a PostPay plan. Thank you for the insightful information boss

  • Estimated Battery Life (h): 18

    W, T, F???

    • How long are you awake for…

      • -1

Exactly, how hard is it to plug it when you don't need it.

    • +1

      that will be $500 thx,

  • Loved the conveniance of having an apple watch, was brilliant.
Shame theyre so ugly and need charging so often.

    • +3

Charging once a day is a real pain. I just lost five seconds slapping mine on the charger. Multiply that by 365. That's half an hour a year. Don't I value my time more than that?

        • I do believe Daabido was being sarcastic.

      • Only charge it when I take a shower by the time the talcum powder is sprinkled it’s already 100% full

    • Ugly? As opposed to what? Please don't say the Galaxy Watch.

      • +1

Android watches are the worse looking

      • I have the Garmin Fenix and its sexy AF IMO

  • +1

    18 hours battery life 😂

  • Can anyone share the link for ultimate gift card deal cant find it here

  • Are there any officeworks that stock this in store? I can’t seems I find any around me…

  • +1

upgraded from 7 to 9. Apart from Gestures tap, nothing different (nothing improved: battery life, speed etc)

    • Processor is new?

      • yes, but you can't feel the difference. The new os10 is not lagging S7 at all.

        • +1

double the brightness on the screen but yeah not much else different

    • +1

I thought a few other things, but not worth upgrading from my 7 e.g offline siri, better finding of your iphone

    • +2

I got 8 from refurbished apple. Its looks totally brand new for straps and casing. The only difference is they slapped a Apple certified label at the front of the box.

    • So why did you upgrade then?

      • Kid needs an Apple Watch.

  • Thanks, just got one through OfficeWorks price beat plus ultimate gift cards.

Painfully, I had to go to multiple Coles stores to get enough gift cards.

    • is there a limit how many gift cards you could you on a purchase at officeworks

      • +1

I think there is over the phone but not instore
