If you get a pixel 8 pro 256gb you get a $1700 gift card. Source: me, I am getting it right now

    • +1

So how does this work? You sign up in-store and then they give you $1400 GC and when you go to buy the pixel 8 pro they give you $400 off?

As pixel 8 pro 256gb is $1799 so please explain…

  • If I’m currently locked in on another jb plan and I commence a new service am I eligible for the GC?

    • +1

If you get a new number, yes.

  • @despavr, @KH234
What does "Data sharing with other JB Mobile plans" means
    Thanks

    • +2

It means any JB hifi postpaid sim will data share and pool the data together. So if you get this $99 sim and a $52 month to month sim you’ll have 360gb to use across both numbers. (60gb from the $52 and 300gb from the $99)

      • Wow! That's great, can replace as home broadband

        • +3

Yes, for home broadband, you can get the $99 24 month sim and the $19 m2m mobile broadband sim to use in your home broadband for roughly 325gb total.

          • @despavr: You are a legend @despavr - helping everyone out with super helpful comments. Thanks on behalf of the ozb community.

  • I got this today with a $19/month shared data sim. I use Mobile Broadband at home and 325GB (25GB extra from the data sim) is heaps for the month.

Really happy with the offer. I can now finally upgrade my gadgets around the house :)

  • Can I port from boost to telstra via this offer and will I still be eligible for this offer?

  • Does switching to belong count as a carrier switch over for these plans ? I work remote so ideally need telstra reception for the time I'm away, unless I get a secondary Telstra simcard whilst switching phone number

  • Is it a physical gift card or egift card? Do you get it straight away?

    • Physical GC without expiry

  • +1

I walked into JB today and signed up easy, gift card straight away, immediate port from Optus eSim. JB set up a new Telstra eSim in store. Apple Watch sim share also set up no problems.

Has anyone tried to get the $10 or $20 off per month via Telstra chat recently?

  • +3

The cancellation cost is actually $766.59 - You will get an invoice from Telstra with 2 weeks to pay.
No need to port in, just ask for a new sim from JB.
Get the $1400 gift card straight away.
$99 charged to your credit card - no refund.
Basically $1400 JB gift card for $865.59 (766.59+99).
Spend the GC at JB anyway to like it now or wait til Black Friday…

    • +1

If you cancel right away you don’t need to pay the $99. Only $799.92

      • +2

You will have to pay the $99 upfront if you do not have an active service with Telstra already.

        • Ah okay thanks for the info

        • What do you mean active service? Like have a Telstra account with any of their products such as their NBN plan?

          • @davicta: Yes, like an active mobile number or nbn etc.

            • @despavr: If I got like a Telstra $2 SIM ahead of time on their cheapest prepaid plan, would that count?

              • +2

@davicta: It won't charge you upfront because its related to trying to match up with the billing cycle of your current services. If you really wanted to, then try get the $1 first month 5g home internet. I don't know if it will work but its the cheapest upfront postpaid billed service. A prepaid wont do anything because the sim has no billing cycle to match up to.

                • @despavr: You are a legend.

                  • @DandenongBad: i try for the ozbargainers lol. more people signing up = more chance of me getting connects and commissions hehe

                    • @despavr: @despavr Telstra support team refusing to give $10 monthly credit for these plan. last year i got it but now they are refusing. any suggestions? will jbhifi team will help to get credit if i go to store?

                      • @Ozfanmel: we don’t have a way to do that in store unfortunately

                      • @Ozfanmel: Only time they’ve ever agreed for me was when it was set up as part of plan initially. Never had luck getting it added through Telstra unlike some others.

  • So if I’m on boost pre paid I can’t get this deal right ?

    • +1

Just get a new sim then cancel

  • will a Port in from Belong (owned by Telstra) be eligible for this offer?

    • Yes

      • Is this allowed for new customers or only port in customer?

        • Port in and also new numbers are eligible.

      • Thanks. Would coming from belong which technically may be viewed as a postpaid service help skip the $99 upfront fee?

        • +1

No it’s not managed through Telstra portal currently

        • +1

          No. It won't work. I'm 99% sure.

  • Can i combine with $500 bonus trade-in credit for a Samsung S23 Ultra?

    • +2

Yeah definitely because that one is buying a phone not connected with signing up on this plan.

      • Although, you shouldn't really buy a Samsung S23 Ultra at this point. It will be losing $500 value anyway.

The next Samsung S24 Ultra will be unveiled and released soon. Any current S23 Ultra will have been discontinued and reduced stock, usually at big discounts. Never buy an iPhone at regular price just before the release of a new model, that also applies to Samsung but the asset value drop isn't as severe I guess.

  • DUnno if this is common knowledge but .. JB HiFi mobile is not Telstra. They use the Telstra network, same as boost and woolies.. but they're not Telstra. I am a FIFO worker and some sites do not have reception for Boost, Woolies, nor, JB.. but is ok with Telstra. That was a fun 2 weeks for me.

    • They used to be pure Telstra but I suspect from what you're saying JB HiFi have become an MVNO themselves now

  • after today 1000s of optus customers will take up this deal :D Telstra to the rescue!!

  • Anyone got $800 bill yet ?

  • Do you have to cancel the very first day on sign up? What if cancel 2nd or 3rd day? Would it charge/ cost you $99 regardless or is it daily pro rata?

    • No, cancelling on the first day and 1 day before your next billing cycle will cost you $99 regardless.

      • I don’t think that’s the case for existing customers,I have my final bill, no $99 charge.

        • Did you cancel on the very first day or some time before your billing period? Also anyway to cancel online by yourself? It seem you have to call them or chat with them during working hours..

        • I got charged $99 on the day I sign up, there's no way to refund that. Are you sure you're not charged $99 when you sign up to the plan?

          • @yummypinacolada: If you already have a Telstra account with a current billing cycle, sometimes the upfront portion is not applicable.
If you are a new customer, you will get the first bill charged on the day you sign up.

            • @Mattycee: That make sense. Do you know if we can sign up for 2 or more plan(new numbers) on the same day? I reckon this is the cheapest way to get jb gift card if we can do it.

  • how do i cancel the plan and still retain the number?

Can i port it out to any other provider and will it be automatically cancelled? Do i need to do anything with Telstra first?

  • Is it only this plan? or can I get a lower plan+lower gift card? and is the phone network locked?

Are the above posts indicating that the phone can be had for $1199 instead of $1799 for a 256g P8P?

    $1799 - $1400 = $399
then cancel the service straight away = -$800

    so $399 (difference from voucher)+$800 (cancellation fee) = $1199?

  • I was trying to get $10 credit but no success. Anyone has success?

  • Hi mates, Any new offer like this ?

    • Current offer is $89/month with a $1,100 GC or $69/month with a $500 GC. Ends 29 Nov - details here

I've noticed that these offers keep changing periodically, which makes it difficult to time if you're trying to port in from another service (which is necessary unless you don't plan on keeping an existing number)

      • Thanks a lot for the input. The 1400 GC was better I think.
