Does anyone know if tyres that appear as limited availability on the website are usually available in person? There are virtually zero Pirelli tyres listed in stock anywhere through SA in the touring ranges like P1/P4/P6 etc

  • +1

Website already showing no stock (Availability:LIMITED) for Scorpion Verde in my size around me. Closest 5 stores. Is therefore the only way to order them on the day on the phone?

  • +2

Just went in store today. Placed an order for next friday to have the tyres ready on the day. The staff already aware of the promotion.

    • +1

      Which branch was this? thanks

  • I tried to ring their 13 number and asked to place an order and they just said that they couldnt and didnt know anything about the sale and until the sale is confirmed there was nothing they could do. I then asked if it was confirmed could they offer the deal early as last year the website kept crashing and was difficult to get through. They said that they couldnt offer any deal until the day of the sale.

    Anyone else have better luck?

  • +1

Called and was told no information on this sale at the moment but to keep a look out for the deal.

  • +1

such a great promo last year. I paid with afterpay and was charged full price $1400. contacted customer service the same day and they refunded the full payment 3 weeks later. My tyres were fitted and on that day I was charged a grand total of $350 for 4 pirelli scorpion all terrain plus.

  • -2

chatted with online agent and said no deal

  • +4

so with the 50% discount they will be about in line with how much they are from a tyre shop that doesn't rip you off?

    • Not even close. It will be 2-300$ cheaper.

      • +1

I got my 4 tyres replaced last year for less than $400 with amex $100 off $400. Hoping they do same deal this year so i can replace my tyres and sell the 1 year old ones on marketplace

        • Thats what i'll be doing, no amex unfortunately but selling my 30-50% tread tyres on marketplace and will probably pay for half the new tyres

          • +1

@Brick50: Amex offer usually comes in between nov and jan.

Otherwise afterpay have been doing $100 off $400

        • Do you have to ask for the old tyres?

          • @impoze: Yep. Tell them you want them & to keep them on the side. I would also mark them to make sure they dont swap them

  • +1

I thought the $100 off logbook service is a separate deal, looks like you have to purchase the tyer to be eligible for the logbook service deal.

    Website now live for 2023

    https://www.mycar.com.au/blackfriday

    • +1

Thanks, I’ve updated the deal description

  • Nice

  • "Offer Tyres must be booked to be fitted on a date between Monday 4 December and Tuesday 19 December 2023 or between Wednesday 3 January and Wednesday 31 January 2024. If Offer Tyres are fitted outside of these fitment periods, the full cost of all the tyres in the transaction will be payable."

Huh? So it can't be done on the day itself, only booked?

Also: "Previously fitted Tyre Care Plan tyre/s may not be exchanged for Offer Tyres on 24 November 2023."

    • +3

Can you imagine how many people would be trying to get tyres fitted that day, the stores will be busy enough just trying to stay on top of the phone calls

  • +1

Decided i'm going to pass until next year atleast, I have some Kuhmo's on my SUV at the moment down to 5mm tread, when new they are 11mm tread.

Based on the research I have done brand new Pirelli Scorpion SUV tyres only come with 7.9mm tread when new, which makes sense when people say they don't seem to last very long.

If your tyres are worn down to minimum this would be a great deal, but if you have some life left in them it might be worth waiting or getting some longer lasting tyres

  • Any Amex deal this year for mycar?

  • +2

Don't forget that Bridgestone also did a 50% off last year. Hopefully they will match this year as I would rather get a set of those than the Pirelli's.

    https://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/offers/blackfriday

    • it started 1 november last year and ended on BF, so it doesnt look like it.

    • Damn 50% off on TS+ would be awesome

  • Which pirelli would you recommend for a Mazda 3 sedan MY 2019? Tyre size is 205/60R16. Thanks.

    • +1

      I have the powergy

      • How long have they lasted for you so far? Reviews seem to point towards low milage on em.

        • +1

Nearly 12 months (25000km) so far and has plenty of life on them.
Going to sell them and get new ones

  • No tyres for my lil mirage rip

  • I have an old car that needs 185/65R15 tyres, and no store anywhere close has Pirelli tyres in stock, unfortunately. MyCar is showing Kumho tyres for $125 each (and two other cheaper, unknown brands). Whereas Bridgestone has Bridgestone Ecopia for $129 each (with their current 'Buy 3, Get 4th Tyre Free' deal). Not sure if the $4 saving per tyre from MyCar is worth it, or whether I should go for the trusty Bridgestone brand. Decisions!

    • +1

For $4 per tyre go with Bridgestone.
The last cheap Kumhos I got from MyCar were made in China

      • Cheers. Yeah, decided to go with Bridgestone.

      • -1

Nothing wrong with tyres made in China. All tyre manufacturers have factories there to cater for the volume of the local market and export. The formula and the production process are identical.

  • Recommendation for a Mazda 6 MY14 Grand Touring? Stock wheels.
100% urban driving, roughly 15K KM per year.
    Powergy or Cinturato P7 ?

Currently running supercat, wet grip is awful!

    TIA

    • +2

I'm also looking to buy for Mazda6. Original tyres on this(Toyo Proxes T1 Sport) lasted 70000 km. Other brands doesn't seem to be anywhere close.
      https://tyregeek.com.au/pirelli-powergy-vs-cinturato

Powergy have been rated here better in performance, fuel efficiency, grip and all but also mentioned this

As per the UTQG guidelines, the Powergy tyres have a treadwear rating of 180, whereas the Cinturato P7 tyres have a rating of 260. This means that the Powergy tyres will theoretically last only 69% as long as the Cinturato P7 tyres

      • Can't make recommendations without the size…

But personally I'm watching these bad boys for my GH2: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185659413151

        • Standard size is 225/55R17 97V. I don't have any experience with Pirelli. I'm looking for Toyo or BS. Even at 50% off (which is actually only 25%off due to MyCar markup) is it worth it buying Pirelli if they'll need replacing after 20-30k KMs.

  • Got mixed views for Kumho here looking at the discussion.

Rang Mr Tyre, they recommended Kumho HP71 ($195 each for four all fitted and wheels rebalanced) for Forester 225/55/18

Jus curious how Kumho stack up with Bridgestone Ecopia (with 50% off) and Pirelli Cinturato P7 (with 50% off)?

    • +1

Where is bridgestone ecopia 50% off?

      • should clarify that I saw a comment of 50% from Bridgestone last year. Not sure about this year. I wonder if there is 50% discount. How does the 3 tyres stack up against each other; value vs cost.

        • +1

Last year it started on the 1st of November and ended black friday, so you can probably cross bridgestone off the list

I'm not an expert but I have kuhmo KL33's on one of my cars and I would say they would last a lot longer than the pirelli's, maybe at the expense of some dry grip but they are fine for a FWD suv.

  • Apparently, there is a "shared" stock for territory/state, as per MyCar agent.

Out of stock for my car and they have no idea if it will be in stock on Fri.

  • Buy from them, but don't get your car serviced by them.

No names or places, but not only did they get my car stuck on the hoist for 3 hours, they also didn't do the basics to check their work. Think wheel nuts coming off, brake line ripping etc.

  • You can also check beaurepaires, they currently have UP TO 60% OFF, but only on select tyres, and sizes…

  • +1

Bob Jane also doing a deal with 35% off some Pirelli, Dunlop or Yokohama:
    -Yokohama Tyres (Excluding Advan A052),
    -Pirelli 17” and above Tyres,
    -Dunlop SP SPORT FM800 Tyres

    https://www.bobjane.com.au/promo/black-tyre-sale-11-2023

    • +2

Their 35% off prices are the same as JAX everyday prices… At least for all the tyres I am looking at..

      • Are you sure? Final discount shown in checkout.

  • Any recommendations for a CRV 225/60R18?
Currently using ecopia and doesn't seem to last that long, maybe only about 30,000km…

  • Went to Bob Jane yesterday and asked if they could match the price, they didn't want to match the price let alone pay 10% of the difference.

    https://www.bobjane.com.au/promo/best-tyre-price-guarantee

    • Lol only ad gimmick. I sometimes cannot believe stores advertising that they will beat any other store prices and when we ask, they have lots of excuses not to even match it.

    • What excuse Bob Jane have to refuse price match?

      • No excuse, just said they can't match it.

  • +1

I called mycar and he said he would order them in for friday for the missus car! can anyone talk to these? I have michelin pilot sport 4 on mine and they have been amazing)

    PIRELLI SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON
    https://www.mycar.com.au/tyres/pirelli/scorpion-verde-all-se…

    • That sounds good but keep in mind that the T&C states that "Offer Tyres must be booked to be fitted on a date between Monday 4 December and Tuesday 19 December 2023 or between Wednesday 3 January and Wednesday 31 January 2024. If Offer Tyres are fitted outside of these fitment periods, the full cost of all the tyres in the transaction will be payable." https://www.mycar.com.au/blackfriday

  • Seems like no Pirelli available for 2003 Camry. What a shame. Has anyone had experience with calling the store and checking if there are options to call it in?

  • Already getting the "Something Went Wrong, Please try again" when trying to add to cart. Same problem from last year a few encountered.

  • Im imagining people who have normal jobs before mycar opens and can't get on the phone until 4pm are screwed then? How fast until its all out of stock? 9:30am?

Heck, what are my chances when I finish work at 4am on the friday?

    • You'll be too early if you finish work at 4am on Friday

      • I meant to check the website, is everyone and their mum still going to be awake refreshing the frozen site even at that time?

        • +2

I have a "normal job" and was able to book a set of tyres over the phone last year about mid-morning, took all of 5mins. Plan to do the same on Friday.

          • +1

@WoodenSpoon: Cheers mate, that alliates my worries that if I ain't calling them up the minute they open in the morning I lose out. As you say, mid-morning tyres are still in stock.

  • I hope that they can order in stock not listed online. They seem pretty limited model available online.

    • second this. my tyres show as order in

      • +1

As the clock strikes midnight the stock levels will change.

  • +1

Do i need to replace a whole 4 tires? Or i can just replace 2 tires are needed the most?

    • You can replace two at a time however if you have FWD car it's imperative you have the best tyres (ironically) at the back for safety reasons. In some places it's even illegal to do it any other way.

  • Tyres were available last week, but today they're out of stock.
    What a pointless deal.

    • +1

Same here. I was checking my size just yesterday and there were a few models available. Now they are all gone!

  • +1

Proably warrants a separate post but i just saw Jax is doing 15% off on top of cashback and 4th tyre free deals. May work out better in some cases for similar tyres as the base price of the pirelli's seems to be up there.

  • Ordered ours in store today, and they priced the 50% off.
    Booked the cars in too.

    • you are lucky, my call still route back to the call centre and the girl said F no cant do 50% today, unless tell me to try my luck with my local MyCar shop which I won't able to make it

  • Does anyone know what "logbook service" is? Does it specifically mean those specified in the car's owner's manual at certain mileages or would Mycar just service our car regardless of whether it fits within the definition of logbook service? I just want them to change the oil and oil filter.

    • If I were you, won’t get MyCar for car servicing. Heard a number of negative feedbacks including not carrying out stated services on the invoice.

Logbook service means the mechanic carry out the servicing items listed in manufacturer’s log book by the recommended intervals (km or time based).

Only matters for cars within the warranty period. AU consumer law requires car manufacturer to honour warranty for logbook servicing by any registered mechanics (not just dealership)

  • +1

i need 4 tyres .. is it a requirement or recommendation to also have them do a wheel alignment as well, when they swap in new tyres? i see it's $89 extra.

    • +1

I'm definitely doing mine…especially since they're new tyres, I wanna make sure I get the most life out of them and best safety/performance as well.

I remember cheaping out on wheel allignments in my younger days and due to the sides/outer edges of the tyres wearing out quicker, the tyres only lasted me no more than 10,000kms lol.

      • fair advice, thanks for the comments!

    • No you do not need an alignment UNLESS there is a odd wear pattern on your old tires. The change of tyres/wheels has nothing to do with the alignment.

You do need a wheel balance, but that usually comes with the fitting..

  • did they jack up the prices already?

    • Really…. do they think we are that stupid?

    • The one that I am looking at is still the same. It's $200 cheaper than bob jane offer.

  • I have already booked for tomorrow

    • +1

how did the discount get applied to your order?

MY Car have the PIRELLI POWERGY XL 95Y 245/35 R20 95Y for $399 each upon check out making it $1,596
      whilst
Tyroola have the same ones for only $257 each making it $1,022 fitted at a local fitter

      • There’s also 15% off at Tyroola

        • Included in the price anove

  • +2

What a surpsie, the tyres I want are all of a sudden not in stock anymore.
