      • Weird. I had P7’s on a Ford Focus several years back that did ~70,000km.

        • +1

23k on my 2016 Focus for the P7 and they're down to a few mm now too, rotated every 6k too. Usually 36psi too.

    • +2

pirelli does not have sizes in shitty non performance cars ie. camry corollas

They don't want their tyres seen on such cars. Same as high end fashion designers don't make dresses for larger women.

      • +3

Balenciaga boutiques shoot on sight if you rock up in a Toyota or Kia.

    • they have some for $179 today to suit my camry 205/65/15's

    • +1

Not for my 'shitty' old Corolla, Powergy got my size and its just $92 a pop per corner, cheapest ever I paid for replacement.

  • +2

    Website is already struggling lol…

  • +4

Can't seem to add in car details or anything. Is the site already down?

    • yes, i have been checking website for any hints over the last 2 days and it has been working until now

  • Asked about this a few weeks ago at my local MyCar after a servicing. Apparently this year, they're going to do things a bit different where stores will only sell what they have in-stock and won't order in anything they don't have.

Anything they don't carry/have in-stock will need to be ordered via the website.

If it's a true, I'm a bit gutted as the size I need are only available online.

    • +5

Hopefully that is just one store's approach and maybe experience on the day will be different. Maybe it could be different for regularly stocked sizes.

I took up this great deal last year. I walked into the store and the tyres I wanted were in stock. They said it was OK to defer fitting them. So I booked a date in January. No payment up front and I could cancel with no penalty. In the end I decided on a change in size and they still honoured the deal.

    • It's free delivery to the store anyway

Order it,get it shipped to ur local store installs included

  • Need new tyres badly so took up the Bridgestone offer instead. There's usually a delay in getting them fitted right?

  • Oh wow

  • It was a waste of time trying to secure a set online last year - great deal for local residents.

  • +1

Can you just buy the tyres without getting them fitted?

      • +9

        lol wut

    • +2

      Yep!
Source: I bought 4, fitted 2, stored the other 2 for a year.

Which Pirellis are best for a Tesla ?

    • +3

Dunno why you’re being negged. We’ve all saved enough from the Boost profits.

      • +1

        Dunno why you’re being negged.

        It's all the Tesla haters

    • I'm here snooping around for potential new 19" tyres for my Model Y myself… not sure if they'll wear too fast from what I've read so far though.

      • Y u not use same tyre as OG?

        • Whodat? I'm going with almost identical tyres the car came with for $406 ea fitted. Getting two for now, and keeping the two on the front.

Tesla quoted… wait for it… $2655 for 4 =-D The almost $260 Tesla service premium per tyre is remarkable.

          • +1

@JownehFixIT: I have to ask… Who the f goes to the manufacturer for tyres? I've never heard of anyone doing that for any other make. Maybe if it was very specialised, but that does not describe a Tesla

            • @trotsky: It's just what heaps of new owners seem to do. Like there's something special about all the traditional car parts on a Tesla. Yes, the tyres are engineered slightly differently for use on EVs, but many tyre shops can stock them for way cheaper. Same with a puncture repair. $40 at Hackett's vs $120 at Tesla. No, they're not a tyre specialist. I think it's the ease of just booking a service in the app. Maybe 🤷‍♂️

  • +2

Last year I got Jax Tyres to match it and they included fitting and balancing into the 50% off when I paid. Someone messed up, might try again this year

    • +1

Do you mean they added fit and balance after the 50% off? My understanding is it's 50% off tyres include fit and balance

      • +3

Yeah. Fitting and balancing is always included in the price

        • +1

Yep, it's included in the price at Mycar and Jax.
Fit and balance not to be confused with a wheel alignment which isn't included in the price, if you got 50% off that as well then nice one.

          • @Brick50: What about cost of disposing of old used tyres, often that is extra.

    • Can't be good tyres if they only last a year /s

    • +1

I did the same last year. Got sick of waiting in the virtual queue, called Jax tyres they matched no problems

  • Which Pirellis are best for an i30 ?

    • +2

Depends what wheels you have on the car

      • 225/40r18 SR Premium i30

        • Pzeros in that size will be about $640 after discount

          • @Matt P: Thanks for the reply. Possible to link or advise which one is better?
            P7, P0 or powergy?

            • @dn4hc: PZ4 for around the same price is a no-brainer. The OG P0 pattern is ancient and mediocre in comparison.

          • @Matt P: P Zeros are a very highly rated tyre and are OEM figment on my high performance cars and even some Supercars. They will be super grippy, at the expense of longevity.

        • P Zeros are a very highly rated tyre and are OEM figment on my high performance cars and even some Supercars. They will be super grippy, at the expense of longevity.

        • I've had p zeros on that car and they're awesome.

    • Its an i30, Pirelli anything will be fine but make sure you get a proper wheel alignment.
lots of places stuff these up due to the 4 wheel adjustments, it needs both front and rear.

  • They matched a deal when I was looking, but there was a 2 week wait and they offered me their performance tyres.

Unfortunately, they're loud as! Compared to the Michelin's I had on there, road noise was like double!

50% off is pretty awesome tho!

    • Which tyres in particular, out of curiosity?

  • I need some new tyres for a trusty 2015 Camry, currently has:

    Bridgestone
    Turanza ER33
    215 55 R17 94V

Can anyone advise whether the Pirelli Powergy 94V is better/worse from experience?

    • If it is on ozbargin as a deal. you can trust to say its good

  • Unfortunately no Pirelli tyre for 225/55 19 inch wheel

    • -5

      Get them custom built…

    • Which SUV?

  • +6

I can't believe they're even more expensive than Bob Jane or Jax. Their normal Pirelli tyre prices are about 50% higher than some retailers, making 50% off more like 25% off elsewhere… nothing to write home about.

    • +2

Exactly. I needed some Pirellis earlier this year, they were >$800 each at MyCar and <$500 elsewhere

      • -1

So is it a case of them marking everything up and then doing a big discount special?

      • Do you mean each? If it's for 4, then that's cheap. I got 4 tyres for RAV4 for $600 odd so your $500 is awesome for Pirelli.

        • Each.

    • Where do you reccomend people look instead…?

      • +2

        Tyroola or Tyresales

        • +3

I’ve never seen decent pricing from Tyroola or Tyresales once you factor in fitment and shipping costs. Same as Costco which gets thrown around a bit as “good value.” but then adds $19.99 per tyre fitment.

Better off checking all the retailers until you find a decent Buy 3 Get 1 Free.

          • @AusNugz: Should’ve specified Tyroola when they have discount offers. Typically cheaper than the physical stores even when you factor in fitting

      • +1

Get some quotes from your local independents or there's Tempe Tyres if you're in Sydney.

Check out https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/ for alternatives as Pirellis are overpriced in Australia imo. You can get better treads for the money from Continental, Goodyear and Hankook here.

    • Yeah the real discount is about 25%.

Worth checking what JAX offer up at the same time, got a good deal on Michel PS4s a previous year this was on.

    • +2

realizes this. I looked at Tempe. My tyer is $399 at the moment in Tempe but Mycar sells it as $759. Am I missing anything here?

      https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyreproducts?pirelli-2954021-1…

      • +1

Nope. Check out Tempe Tyres on eBay with this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/809600

        • exactly, works out even cheaper! thanks.
          any way to un-upvote here?

        • Beware of Tempe Tyres. They sell old batches, sometimes expired ones.

          • @spy: Tyres do not expire… but I do get what you're trying to get at.

All retailers on the market will sell tyres with production dates older than the current year due to supply and demand. Anything up to 5 years old will be perfectly fine.

            • @Junk Sifter: Not at all suggesting this is the case but is it possible they are OEM tyres? I have heard some tyres are made for brand new cars and don't have the tread depth of normal tyres.

I think Tempe sell grey import tyres made for different markets, may or may not have the same tread depth as mycar?

    • Yeah the price for my tyres is $295 at MyCar vs $193 at other retailers. Still a decent saving, but closer to a 10-20% off rather than 50%.

  • +1

We have these tyes on out tourag with the scorpions

for the price, best you will find

Done over 45k on them and they still look brand new.

    • -3

Which tyres? Pirelli is a brand

      • +4

He stated Scorpion. That is an SUV tyre (also has an A/T variant).

  • +1

How is myCar for logbook service?

I have yet to find a reliable honest mechanic who won't charge unreasonably and then add "highly recommended" extras.

    • I can recommend Midas in South Melbourne.

    • +2

      DIY

  • +15

$100 logbook is totally useless. I.e. quote from authorise dealer service - $418 vs Mycar logbook - $940

    • Agree, done a number of quotes and only once has it been worth it. Kia sportage both my car and Kia quoted $320 and mycar had $100 discount

      Still didn’t do it anyway

  • +8

Would 100% not do logbook servicing at Mycar. They gave me BS quote for wheel bearing replacement that was significantly more expensive than a toyota dealer. I higly recommend everyone to search for highly rated independent mechanics and support small businesses. The tyre deal is worth it though

    • +5

I higly recommend everyone to search for highly rated independent mechanics and support small businesses.

you get ripped off on new tyres at independent mechanics though.

      • +2

Very much so. Not so much at independent tyre retailers though.

        I can't believe I've + voted a jv comment.

    • If it was significantly more expensive than a dealer, then the dealership is very reasonable. So why keep on looking for independents?

  • +4

just checked pricing for 225/55/18 per tyre:

$200 VIKING TeraTech HT FR 98V.
    $240 GOODYEAR OPTILIFE 3 SUV 98V
    $240 KUMHO KL33 98H
    $270 CONTI TechContact TC6 SUV FR 98V
$315 PIRELLI SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON 98H

I would definitely cop the Pirelli's at 50% off

    • +3

But you are incorrectly comparing mycar to mycar.
Tempe tyres do the kumho for 165.
Having had both the kumho and pirelli previously, I would take the kumho every day. Pirelli wear out in half the kms. YMMV.

  • +1

To be honest, pirelli p7 only lasts 22000kms on my lancer but Bridgestone ep300 lasts at least 40000kms. Better performance for pirelli especially on rainy day, however I’ll go for Bridgestone for better value.

    • Yeah the p7 cinturatos on my now sold 2016 Focus got to 23k and there's only a few mm left on the tread. this is rotating every 6k too.

  • Good for AWD kluger?

  • Let's hope Jax gonna price match them again.

    • +1

      Jax gonna price match

      They will price Jax

  • +8

I got in the deal last year, and went to get the free tyre rotation done this year. My local myCar kept my car for one hour and asked me to pick up. Then I realised one of the wheels which has a unique scuff mark is still at the same position!

I asked the manager if the rotation was done and he confidently (and shamelessly) said yes, until I told him that one of the wheels has a unique scuff mark, then he apologized and got the rotation done, plus free alignment.

I would definitely not do my logbook service there.

  • Any pirelli? Or certain ones only like previous?

  • +5

Anything more official or just something one guy at one store mentioned?

    • +2

      Trust me bro

  • What do people recommend for a basic Mazda 3?

Their website suggests the "PIRELLI POWERGY 91V" and the reviews look alright. Anyone got experience with those tyres?

    • Those also were the only ones that came up for our 2014 Corolla - but also the most expensive ones too. Gonna do some research on those tyres now.

      • How much we talkin'?

        • $209 each… or $104.50 after 50% off.

          • @Mingles: Cheers..$104 is about right I guess. That's fitted/ balanced..done?
