    hodl for deal on 3

    • Advice: Definately go for the 512gb. All of the big games are at least 20-30 GB. 128Gb is too small. 265gb might be perfect, but not offered.

      • "Advice: Definately go for the 512gb. All of the big games are at least 20-30 GB. 128Gb is too small."

yeah a lot of comments on previous deals saying 128GB is more than enough. but reading plenty of feedback online from months ago seems like bigger storage is the way to go.
firstly you are going to use the referral credit (comment below) and ongoing 25% off referral codes on games to install a lot of popular AA type (great graphics) games
such as Red matter 2, new Assassins Creed VR game, Asgard Wrath 2 (free with Quest 3 so guaranteed install right)" which take a lot of storage. second, if you like them you will leave them installed. I read a comment on previous deal saying "get 128GB, just uninstall games when you are low on space" but not everyone is going to do that. actually I expect most users to not manage their storage at all and just keep on installing things.

        • 128 GB is manageable, having 3-4 large games installed at once, but 512 GB is obviously going to be better on everything but price. Over time, 128 will become less manageable as universal packages will contain more HD content catering to higher end headsets.

Shame the Pico 5 has allegedly been scrapped.
Would have been real competition for the quest

  • @harshbdmmaster718 this

    • was expecting $100 promo credit. 😭 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14702601/redir

      • Maybe this can justify (need a few emails)

        • you need NAB card though.

I should have bought Quest 3 on launch when they offered the $50 off $750 GC at the time. I was going to buy GC 2 days after the GC deal was posted and because users found a loop hole and abused it (receive all credit combined when adding all to cart then remove all except $1000 GC) amazon literally pulled all higher promos and only $10 off $250 was left.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: Nah worked for me and others without a NAB card, about the same ~6% saving. To buy multiple, use guest checkout and change the sender email to bypass their 1 per user limitation. They still limit per card after a few orders tho good enough.

From my notice, they are happy with it all year round only the limitation to keep the deal alive.

  • this has got to be on clearance soon, surely

      Nope.
The quest 2 is going to continue being made as their entry level model.
      Quest 3 being mid tier.
Quest pro (and whatever proceeds it) being the higher end model.

Remember the $47 meta credit for new users referred to purchase a headset still works for headsets purchased on amazon
Go to this page https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/meta.com Click 'random' and you get a random ozbargainers referral link.

To accept the referral set up a meta account. If you’re buying it as a gift and want them to get the meta credit, they should create the account.
When the account logs into the headset you purchased on amazon, it will get the credit. You don't have to do it before you buy the headset, but you should do it before you activate the headset. If you have already activated it but only recently, some people have success doing a factory reset and trying to set it up from scratch again.

You can also get a 25% game discount via referrals at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/referral/oculus although you can't use them when a game is on sale, which is frustrating at times when a sale isn't very good and you have to wait till it is over for the better discount.

You can get a tiny bit more of a discount for the headset buying discounted amazon gift cards, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/818881 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810923 is a good starting place.

I don’t think you can get cashback on the headset at the moment as the Video Game category is at 0% on the cashback sites, but if that changed it should stack as well.

    • I purchased a $500 gift card to use for this and get this at checkout. So just to save someone the pain.

"Your gift card balance can’t be applied to orders that contain other Amazon.com.au gift cards."

      • I didn't buy anything, but I missed out on that info as well.

I noticed just now that the deal title says "+ $75 Amazon Giftcard" when previous deals were "+ $100 Amazon Promo credit" so before paying by giftcard wouldn't be a problem.

        • Ah yeah good point. This new deal stinks to high heaven then. I actually would've bought it if I could've used my GC.

But the fact that I couldn't made me decide to not go ahead with the purchase. I'm going to wait a few more months and see if we get any deals on the Quest 3 and maybe then will I use the balance of my GC. Or maybe if there's a better deal for the Q2.

          • @cornflakes: yeah the way I see it. probably costs amazon less to give out promo credit. compared to a giftcard. that's why the giftcard amount is less I assume.

    • Could this work if you picked up a second hand headset? Apologies if it's a dumb question, I don't know what the setup process is like

  • Is this sufficient enough over quest 3 if the main usage is not playing games?

    • Would be easier to answer if you specified what the main usage is!

  • I just picked up a 64gb second hand cheap, anyone got any advice on the first thing to do when getting started?
