  • Is this good for written notes, and does it go full 360 rotate so you can lay it flat on desk and write on it?
    - i saw conflicting guidance about it rotating

    • +1

yes it goes full 360 like a lenova yoga does and goes into tablet mode. also comes with a stylus.

can confirm as my wife just bought one today.

      • Thanks for letting me know- ive heard some issues with palm rejection but cant find anything online about it:
        - do yas have any views about that?

        • sorry have not used it in the tablet mode extensively enough to comment. stylus still in wrap.

      • Random question but do you know where the stylus goes? It seems to be magnetic, but I'm not sure onto what.

        • Sorry no idea. Stylus still in the wrap, neither of us has bothered to use it.

          • @plentifoo: Does yours got any sleep problem which drains the battery and fan still running while slept?

            • @kaikor: Wife uses it mostly. She hasn't reported any issues. But she isn't what I call a techy person and won't be monitoring battery issues unless it's really significant

    13" immersion!

  • Looking for a low priced 120hz+ screen laptop. Any other suggestions?

  • I wouldn't recommend this due to the sleep issues and the weak cooling system. Bought one for work a while back (the same model but with a 3050). I would put the laptop to sleep, leave it in my bagpack and 20mins later it would be 90degrees inside the bag and the laptop battery would be down to 20% cus the laptop's CPU and fan would keep running while sleeping.

Assume the sleep issues is fixed, the processor in mine was constantly throttling in moderate workload because the heatsinks are tiny, and it gets very hot regardless of workload.

    • this model comes with igpu only - no dedicated gpu, that has an immense effect on operating temperature and having adequate cooling.

sleep issues are fixed so really none of your problems to report on this variation of the X13 ROG flow.

      • My work load was on igpu only doing chrome, word, emails etc. the dedicated gpu never turns until you play a game which I never got the chance because it ran so hot just doing work stuff.

        • odd - maybe you got a lemon - laptop is dead silent and zero heat issues doing the tasks you mentioned.

thats a windows issue not a ASUS issue, the trick is to unplug your charger and dock and wait for your device to understand that its off and then close the lid

prevents that issue most of the time but need windows 11 to fix it

  • So what’s the graphics card on this laptop? Is it. Egpu or just the gpu off the ryzen chip?

  • Good price for this feature set, probably need to up the RAM to 32Gb as 680M will take a chunk of usable memory.

  • Considering this for my son s gaming laptop + school. But he wants

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-rog-strix-g16-16-wux…

I'm not a gamer so any feedback? Thanks

    • Battery will be a problem. You better consider the Flow X13 or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/822654.

      • That is a G16 as well? I think my son cares more abt cpu/gpu performance. He will use it docked at home n won't game at school so may save battery life there. Thanks

        • Your one is ROG Strix, the one I recommended is ROG Zephyrus. So Strix battery won't last long for whole school time. I have one used to be my son's school laptop and it doesn't work.

          • @vihand: Ah right, thanks. The ROG flow x13 680M gpu, is it good enough or needs a dedicated one? Thanks

            • @Bargain-er: Definitely not for AAAs. Casual one should be fine. If you want 2 years future proved gaming laptop, X13 is not the one, especially without the dGPU.

        • But carrying a 16" back & forth between school & home will be so damn heavy, better stick with X13 for portability

          • @kaikor: Yea told him so but the 14yo thinks he s the incredible hulk

            • +1

@Bargain-er: Haha you better tell him to concentrate more on studying than playing games!

              • +1

                @kaikor: Told him… Like… 1000 times lol… Gently, firmly, and… Over firmly… It's his Xmas n Bday combined pressie + he needs a new laptop for school.

Why not just a desktop if it's just going to be static/at home.

  • This vs the Acer Swift Go of this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816906 for general tasks and use of Photoshop and Adobe suite?

    • Yh, I would have bought the acer swift go if not for the OLED screen

  • +1

So has anyone received one of these yet? Interested in feedback on performance.

  • Price has fluctuated over the past 48 hours. Original deal at $1197, 4th Jan went to $1397 and by evening of 4th, went down to $1297. I have bought two of these machines, pretty happy so far.

    • How are you finding the battery life so far? Any overheating to speak of?

  • The price is now 1297 at OW. Is this price still a good buy?
