    thanks for the workaround.

but still, too expensive for a 60hz phone

    • +2

I think so too but my iphone 12 pro max has both front and back screen broken. I can't see myself getting latest iPhone for $1285 anytime soon.

I also checked MacRumors here https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-16/ re iphone 16. It looks like most improvements are in the pro range (out of my budget) so I decided to pull the trigger on this one.

Imho iphones have barely changed since the 12.
        I would buy refurb

        • -4

I went from 12 Pro Max to 15 Pro. After selling my 12PM (in perfect condition mind you) and TRS, I got it for $750 for the upgrade.

      • May as well considering how much Apple want to repair that. Someone on eBay will buy it.

        • Apple said they will charge 1099 and give me a new phone (12 pro max). That was the repair option they had for phones with both front and back glasses broken.

          • @salehiam: That's worth it IMO.
Although, its also how much they were charging March last year for the same refurb phone when I got a quote.

@theguyrules: How is that worth it when you can get a 12 pro max for $770 on eBay in excellent condition and still keep you broken 12 pro max?
When you deal with Apple for repairs or refurb they don’t let you keep your phone.

              • +1

@Jenbrook: Brand new phone with full warranty.
When I looked last year, it was worth it compared to buying new/used.

                • @theguyrules: I’m led to believe when you get refurb in exchange for you broken iPhone the original warranty left is applied or 90 days, whichever is greater?

Surely too expensive for a phone with only 128GB capacity. Aimed at the streaming-only market?

      • -1

Aimed at the cult. Check the upvotes.

        • Correct. My OnePlus 11 is superior in every way & was $500 cheaper. I jumped from Apple after a decade & I'm not going back.

  • +2

And if u have signed up for $20 one pass, you could have got another $25 back as flybuys points with the 5X points at one pass Officeworks offer

Advice needed - I have an iphone8 64GB. got battery changed last year and the phone works fine. Major issues are, low storage, obv camera being shit compared to new models, a bit of lag due to heating.

Do i upgrade to a 15 pro or wait for 16.

    • +2

Quite a big jump between those phones. You will be happy with a refurb 12 or 13 pro. All depends on budget.
      16 will be overkill

      • +1

no issues with budget. I prefer to spend a bit and then use that phone for 5-6 years like I did with my 8. coming to aussie next month so can also claim gst return as i dont live there. hopefully a good deal comes through then and i get OW to price match. would be fantastic

    • +1

15 would be heaven and hell difference in my opinion , if you can afford id try and get a price beat with officeworks . Its worth a shot , and the 16 is a long way off.

If your budget is a tad more than the base model. I’d get the Plus model for the good battery life. The base range also have upgraded cameras which were a significant upgrade. I have the Pro Max but if I didn’t get the max I’d probably skip the pro and go down to the Plus. Sounds like you care for your phone quite well so it’s a worthy investment.

      • I have small hands lol, even the regular 8 that i have feels a bit big so dont want to go for the plus. Looking at 15 pro and then not wanting to change for another 5-6 years. Do you know how much the gst is on iphnes since i can claim it back at TRS.

        • Gst is 10% so divide any price by 1.1 to get the tax free price. The difference is the tax refund amount or divide by 11.

        • Check out the iPhone SE 2023 if you like the 8 form factor. The SE has the same shell as the 8, but the same cpu as the 12.
It’s also much cheaper, I think they’re $500 unlocked from amaysim.

      • I reckon that big an upgrade might as well go the full Monty and 15 Pro Max and keep it for years like they did the 8. Also get 256GB in base and a better camera.
Mrs Entropy just did that from an XS max. She is very happy. Happy wife, happy life.

  • Does OW usually price beat costco because of the membership requirement?

    • +1

dont know but most likely hit or miss

    • +2

YES - confirming that they do in Canberra from my experience

I have checked with two stores in ACT and they both said yes they do price match/beat Costco.

I have purchased 15 plus 256gb from Braddon Officeworks yesterday, paid $1615. (price beat gaurentee against current Costco price $1699.99)

  • +2

Just pricematched iPhone15 256Gb. Thank you OP

  • -3

Oh wow what an amazing bargain for an amazing phone! /s

  • +1

Cheers OP, was able to price beat over the phone with OW, have not rx'd invoice yet, but here is an order confirmation

    • Does office works match or beat the price match?

      • The beat the Costco price ($1699) by 5% ($1615)

    • Which store?

      • I got the price beat over the phone the customer service, pick up scheduled for Braddon (ACT).

  • Spotted that last night, just pulled the trigger on a Pro Max 512gb via OW PBG.

Went an purchased the gift cards at Coles per this thread (thanks OP!) and used the 10x flybuys promo at officeworks.

With magsafe case was $2,453.99 + 72.5k flybuys + 2450 amex points. Beyond blue also picked up $48 in donations via the gift cards!

  • Those who price matched with Officeworks over the phone, can you use gift cards as payment?

    • +1

Yep, I price matched over the phone and used gift cards for payment over the counter without any issues.

  • does anyone know if jb hifi accepting price match from Costco?

    • Looks like a no from JB Hifi.

Unfortunately, we can't match directly with Costco as they are a members only warehouse which goes against the terms of our price match policy.
