• Amazon.com.au Gift Cards are subject to the Amazon.com.au Gift Card Terms and Conditions.
• For Qualifying Purchases, a promotional credit of $5 will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com.au account that was used to make the Qualifying Purchase within two (2) business days after your order is shipped (for physical gift cards) or within two (2) business days after your order is completed (for electronic gift cards). An email notification will be sent to the primary email address associated with the Amazon.com.au account used to make the Qualifying Purchase within two (2) business days of the Qualifying Purchase being shipped or completed (as applicable) to confirm that the promotional code has been applied to the relevant account.
• You must use the $5 promotional credit by 11:59PM (AEST) on 31 March 2025.
• This Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
• Delivery fees, taxes, shipping and handling, and gift wrap charges, if applicable, do not apply when determining the minimum purchase amount. • If you remove Qualifying Purchases from your shopping cart, so that the combined purchase value of the remaining purchases at checkout falls below $200, this Offer will cease to apply.
• If you cancel part of your order for Qualifying Purchases, so that the combined purchase value of the remaining purchases falls below $200, this Offer will cease to apply.
• If you return a Qualifying Purchase, so that the combined purchase value of the purchases you retain falls below $200, Amazon reserves the right to:
• remove any unused promotional credit you received as part of the Offer from your account without further notice; and
• charge you (using the payment method you used for the original order and without further notice) for the promotional credit you received as part of the Offer which you have used.
• This promotional credit can be used towards a future purchase of “eligible items” shipped and sold by Amazon AU and will be automatically applied to your next purchase of eligible item(s). “Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global Store) and Amazon UK even if fulfilled by Amazon AU, digital purchases such as e-books, products that are not in new condition such as renewed products, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, any gift cards and postage or delivery rates.
• The promotional credit can be used across multiple purchases of eligible items until it is exhausted.
• The promotional credit will be allocated proportionally among all eligible items in your order.
• This Offer and the promotional credit cannot be used on existing orders.
• Amazon AU’s standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to this Offer.
• If you use Amazon’s 1-Click ordering method, any promotional credit will not apply to your order.
• The promotional credit is not transferable and may not be resold, redeemed for cash or applied toward the purchase of any gift cards sold at Amazon.com.au.
• If you return any item purchased using the promotional credit, Amazon AU will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the promotional credit) and the promotional credit will be invalidated and cannot be refunded or re-used.
• If you violate any of these terms, this Offer will be invalid.
• Amazon.com.au’s Conditions of Use and Sale apply.

I really don't understand why this is even a deal. Might as well just keep the money in savings and spend it wherever you want

      • If you are going to buy something from Amazon anyway, why not buy the gift card first and get the credit back? For example, I am going to buy the Meta Quest 3 from this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/831182

You can do the same at a higher discount rate, and for a gift card instead of a promo credit, eg 6.25% off via this deal instead of 2.5%.

If you still need more there are other sources of ongoing discounted gift cards here up to 4% off.

          • @hamza23: Thanks, I didn't know those deals. I will check it out.

        • Also promo credits are not refunded if you have issues with your item. So even if i want to buy something anyways, still wouldn't bother

          • @fuzor: Hmm. Australian Consumer Law requires a full refund if the goods are faulty and returned.

          • @fuzor: I know what you mean but in this case the credit is YOURS as soon as you purchase the card. Whether the product you subsequently buy is faulty or not is immaterial.

As xlynx said, and invariably(?) happens with faulty Amazon purchases ime, you're entitled to a full refund PLUS recompense for any return postage costs usually. Sometimes Amazon will tell you to keep the item. They appear to operate on good faith and the assumption that the vast majority of their customers are honest. No doubt they write off a proportion of their income to theft and fraud, by customers mainly but also within the delivery chain. I've had direct experience with the latter.

            • @Igaf: This was a personal experience so I know they dont get refunded and I know that Amazon normally have the best customer experience of any large company.
If you are very firm believer of ACL and dont think this could possibly occur, you're welcome to try return something small that was bought using credit and see how you go.

My first downvote! Not for OP but for the deal being terrible - please, no one buy this. Amazon have been steadily increasing the spend for these offers and they need to get the message that this is now completely crap. Promo credit is already a terrible “bonus”, but at 2.5% it’s pathetic.

  • 2.5% max. How do they do it!

The Prezzee deals are better… convert those GCs to Uncle Bezos Bucks

    • Yep, exactly what I did. 6.7% for $150. Not a great saving but still far better than any Az offer.

This might be nothing but it has prompted me to make sure I don't have Prezee card balances:

      https://www.afr.com/companies/retail/shaun-bonett-s-prezzee-….

Note this: Internal company data showed that unless a card was used in the first four months, it was unlikely to be used, a person familiar with the company said.
