does this come with a US plug?

    • +7

If u dont use the adapters, its already a US plug.

      • I have similar and one day went to Japan and thought oh no I forgot to bring the attachments! But just take all and voila, Japan prongs

      • sweet ty

    • Yes

This looks good but need it for this weekend, don't think it'll arrive by Friday, next time I guess

Judging by the comments in this thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/831128, seems like someones 140w caught on fire, yikes!

    • Yep, not great comments about shorting out, burny smells and catching fire on other threads for this.

      Not worth the risk imo

    • Thanks mate helped me dodge a bullet.

    • I have a few zyron chargers, never had any problem and they do not get as hot as my satechi charger. I only have one of these. I mostly use it for iPhone and iPad and only use it for charging a laptop when travelling. No problems. I do not have a laptop that uses a lot of charge all at once though, it’s a HP dragonfly.

That link is to a different charger, a 100w version.

    • +2

Yeah this was the exact model I had that burnt out. Refunded and went with other alternatives as didn't want to risk it again based on my experience.

      • By exact model do you mean the GaN3 powerpod 140W? I have the original powerpod 140W so just want to make sure.

        • Model: ZY-WC-140W-2C1A to be exact. Not sure if the original one has the same model number.

    • Yep, these are likely the same internal design as the Heymix chargers that have a pretty bad rap around this place. Likely manufactured in the same factory.

Too bad people who comment "fire hurr hurr" on the Heymix posts are more interested in the memes than actually warning consumers of safety risks, otherwise they'd be here too. Don't fall for the whole "support an Aussie brand" shtick. These are basically just branded and drop-shipped from a Chinese factory without any quality control.

You're better off going with a real brand that does their own internal engineering (e.g. Apple, Samsung…etc.), or someone who has a presence locally in China to do all of the QC of the stuff coming out of the factories (e.g. Anker, UGREEN…etc.)

  • Just received mine yesterday. Very nice bit of kit.

    • Can I ask how long does it take for them to ship to you? I'm going os next Sat and not sure if it arrives on time.

      • +1

Considering it takes about a week on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com.au/Charger-Smallest-Adapter-Compatibl…) from the same supplier, no way you're getting it before Saturday 2nd March - you will probably get it before Sat 9th March, though.

      • Ordered on 26/2 at 11am. 12pm shipped out.

        Received in Melbourne on 28/2

  • Can anyone who has this confirm if the adapters can be used on/with the extension cord? Not entirely clear from the pictures.

    • +2

      Yes they can.

      • Can the adapters/extension cord be used with the older Zyron chargers? They looks almost identical. I am aware the website says they aren't, but they don't specify why.

  • +3

I have the 100w one and it's been excellent during my europe travels :D

  • Wondering if this will also work in Japan and Egypt?

  • Can confirm - I took my 140W all over europe, Uk and Vietnam and it worked flawlessly .. well except in vietnam where the plugs were mostly very loose (so the heavy brick hung somewhat precariously - but still worked)

    • This is why the extension cord is useful, though I can understand why you wouldn't want to carry around an extra cable.

  • Disappointed that the Zyron pre-order was months late. And now only a few weeks later, it's RRP is the same as Pre-order price —- and the sale price is far cheaper still.

  • FYI, Only 12 months warranty on their Powerpod range compared to 24 months warranty for their other chargers. I've just had a Powastone die on my after 18 months of low usage.

    • +1

Only 12 months warranty on their Powerpod range

That appears to be the 'old' Powerpod range. This one specifically states 24 months warranty on the product details page.

All Zyron products, including fast chargers, power banks, and USB-C cables, are covered by a comprehensive 2-year warranty from the date of purchase except 12 months for the old Powerpod 66, Powerpod 100, Powerpod PRO and Powerpod 140. This warranty covers manufacturing defects and faulty workmanship, providing you with peace of mind when you choose our products.

I have 2 of the 67W version and took it for 6 weeks travel in Asia. They work well with daily use and have no issue with using it for charging laptop/iphones/ipod.

  • Will this charge an Imac Pro through USB C?

    • I wish there was an iMac Pro.

  • Can this charge a dell xps 15 via usb c?
Laptop came with a 130w dell charger

    • You should check the voltage that the charger uses (see the small writing on the brick). If it matches any of:

5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, 20V5A, 28V5A (140W Max), then it wont be an issue. However, if its 20V 6.5A, it might not be able to supply more than 100W.

      • Thank you for answering!
        Dell says 19.5V 6.67A

        • +2

My suspicion is that the charger cant supply more than 5A, which means you won't be able to negotiate more than 97.5W from the charger.

From a quick google search, it seems Dell did a custom implementation to get 130W.

That being said, unless you are gaming and using all 130W, a slower charger might be better for the health of your battery.

          • @ATangk: This is correct. I have the same laptop and it will charge at max 100W with my other Zyron chargers.

When Dell designed their charger they allowed ~6.7A which exceeded the maximum 5A of the 100W USB-PD spec at the time.

To get above 100W nowadays requires a device that can accept 28V, 36V, or 48V.

            • @sickburn: @ChatCPT FYI

              • @ATangk: Thank you. So I can use this one it will just run at 100w instead. Charging a little slower but healthier

                • @ChatCPT: Just one last thing of note.

These chargers will renegotiate power every time you plug in/out something. Also, the only way to still get 100W on the main output is to only use one of C1/C2 and the USB A power port. If you use both usb C outputs, you will only get 65W out of both.

See the product specifications in the product page where it shows something like the below.

                  USB-C1/C2 + USB-A 140W+18W

The price is good but some users commented on this charger caught on fire in another deal made me worry.

    • Same, I don't know why the other fella got downvoted early on for providing details pertaining to the brand. Being an informed potential customer is usually always a good thing

Anyway other people had good experience with this but all it takes is more than 1 reported fire/electrical issue, personally wouldnt risk it now

  • I have a Heymix that looks very similar - presumably the same factory or design…
Except it doesn't have the adaptors. Anyone know how to order the adaptors separately?
I've emailed Heymix but they wouldn't sell or point me towards a supplier…

    • +1

which adapters? the plug types, or the extension cord?

You can buy the adapters separately, I can't remember if I picked some up on amazon, ebay or aliexpress (I bought some to pull one apart and make into an IEC8 adapter). But the adapter design is pretty generic (thoughs adly not as generic as the IEC8? duck plug on an Apple or many other modular chargers). The adapters on the dark Zyrons are slightly diffferent, they have a little locking button that locks the plug converter into the charger - I've never needed the locking on either of my Heymix or Zyron charger that use the same converter design (tbh they look like whitelabels of the same thing). For $20 on amazon you can get another charger that comes with the adapters.

      • Thx for your reply. I meant the plugs. Yes, I noticed the little locking button which is different. I was hoping to pick up some international adaptors for a few bucks. Will be on the lookout for a cheap charger. :)

  • with discount only goes down to $120 not 80? D:

  • just got exact one but 67w ($45) version with multiple changing heads for travel, its solid with a carry case
