QIDI X-Max 3 3D Filament Printer $1239 Delivered from AU Warehouse @ QIDI Tech, China

180

This is a whole lot of printer for a great price, I paid $1600. Delivery may not be free to rural areas.
Fully enclosed Core XY printer with an active chamber heater and a build volume of 325x325x315
Nozzle temp up to 350c, bed temp up to 120c and chamber temp of 65c you can print a lot more exotic filaments
I've had mine for since 9/23 and love it. Qidi support is as good as people say it is.
Why? - Bambu and Creality were not big enough, or hot enough. Voron build was tempting but way more expensive and probably frustrating.
Yes you can print a full size helmet on this. No, it's not a Bambu. Yes, it runs Klipper. No, it does not have an AMS.
Ok release the Bambu fanboys now.

Edit: If you nearly complete a purchase but abort QIDI will email a discount voucher of $10
credit to @bamzero - the popup on visiting the page for 5% discount code for email signup appears to work, didn't complete checkout but applied code for a $61.95 discount bringing it down to $1177.05

  • have you had bambu before? how do these compare im looking for something along side my a1

    • Knowing what you want out of the printer would help people recommend something suitable. More print volume? Chamber heater? Just need more print capacity without any extra fuss?

This Qidi machine would suit the first two requirements, if you simply want an enclosure and the A1 is cutting the mustard otherwise you might just want to grab a cheap enclosure from eBay etc.

      • business is going well and im ready for a 2nd printer. i dont print abs yet but would like to be able to in the future. but after watching reviews on the qidi itll be a hard pass. i think i should just stick to bambu

        • +1

The initial pre-release had issues, they recalled it and modified it. Make sure you are not looking at those reviews.

    • I've got the Plus 3, which is the little brother of this one, and IMHO its the equal of the P1S in every way except for the AMS.

Print quality is fantastic, incredibly fast and pretty much set and forget so far (I've put about 5kg through it so far).

    • If your only experience of 3D printing is Bambus you’re better off sticking with them as it’s easy. There’s a bit extra to know with tuning and maintenance to get good and keep results from other printers. The Qidi is a great printer though… probably one of (if not) the best off the shelf enthusiast options.

Reckon I would have bought one of these if not the P1S. Looks like a good unit.

    • +1

the build size is making it very tempting.

      • agreed - apparently also a very good printer

    $30 or so dollars off

  • Tempting

  • I got the X-Plus 3 last December and have been super happy with it. Super fast and reliable prints, very much the equal of a P1S in my opinion. A nice thing with these is that they come with the hardened hot end too, which is an extra cost on the Bambu's, so if CF or other engineering materials are on your list then that's a consideration.

    • +1

Yeah I can vouch for the x-plus 3. It's a beast. Prints everything I've thrown at it so far with ease. PLA, PETG, TPU, ASA, ABS.
      Heated chamber really helps.
And the x-max is just a carbon copy in a bigger size.

Customer service is unreal as well. Responsive and will ship you parts basically no questions asked.

Just be warned. This thing is a behemoth!

  • Looks good mate

  • How does this compare to the K1 max and is it open source?

    • Generally this is everything the K1 printers should have been and better for warp prone and exotic filaments.

      • What about the K1 Max. It is a much better printer than the K1

  • Damn the Q1 Pro looks kinda epic for the price point too. Is it essentially a smaller version of this one or is there a lot of major differences? Seems to offer a lot of value for money!

    • Yeah, it's hard to go past if you don't need a bigger bed.
Basically a smaller version of this with some upgrades like auto z-offset and looks to potentially be setting up for an AMS system (poop bucket and nozzle cleaner)

  • +1

Man, tempting… if I hadn't recently bought a Neptune 4 Plus (though got that for just over $400 so still a big price difference.) I really did want a corexy though. Does this run bog standard Klipper or did they mess with it for no real reason like Elegoo?

PS, the popup on visiting the page for 5% discount code for email signup appears to work, didn't complete checkout but applied code for a $61.95 discount bringing it down to $1177.05.

Does this run bog standard Klipper or did they mess with it for no real reason like Elegoo?

Messed with a little bit. But not too hard to put vanilla klipper on it instead, but you lose the screen. At least for now. The community is working on fixing that too.

  • im revisiting this im nearly sold. On the Wiki page for the max 3 theres 2 emails down the bottom for support. does anyone know if they have plans for a ams?

    • Here someone said they were told by support that a multicolour system was in the works. No details or timeframe though so if I was purchasing today I'd be under the assumption there wasn't going to be one.

  • Received another abandoned cart email offering 3% discount. Wonder if they'll beat the 5% signup offer if left long enough :D
