PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 XT Reaper 16GB Graphics Card $1139 + Delivery ($0 MEL C&C) @ PC Case Gear

2082

Seems to be the only msrp model since PCCaseGear got their cards straight from powercolor, you can see the price now by googling the model at PCCaseGear

“ Stock levels are excellent - this is the best GPU launch availability we've ever seen for a GPU. We still have some shipments rolling in, so there may be further stock available the following days/weeks - we'll update this space if all our launch stock is sold out and we need to manage some timed releases, but we're hoping that will not be necessary.” - from https://www.pccasegear.com/rx9000

  • SITE DOWN and sold out……..not sure WTF was going on as I was able to enter the checkout page but the submit order button simple didn't response…

  • is it worth pair with 5900x? i play on 1440p

  • +2

Had one in cart going through checkout…sold out :(

    • same here

  • Looks like I placed an order, I have one in my account, but it is listed as "Pending", so perhaps I was too slow  If I don't get it, Umart seem to have (had?) some Sapphire cards, so might try there in the morning.

Edit: Just got the email confirmation, guess that means I got one.

    • Did you end up getting a tracking number? I finally got one but its still on the “Label created by sender” stage which has me worried because I did place my order late like you

      • I did, yes. Had an issue with fraud detection, cleared that up, and then got a startrack tracking number a bit later on in the day. Not sure if they've picked it up yet, but hope it'll arrive next week some time (I'm in Hobart).

  • +1

For those looking, Centrecom still have some decent stock: https://www.centrecom.com.au/amd-radeon-rx-9000-series-graph…

  • Managed to get one with a lot of refreshing the website and patience. I was also looking at all the other stores. Noticed only PC Case Gear had the only model at MSRP. Apparently Scorptec were expecting 800 or so of the 9070xt so the fact they still all sold out is pretty amazing for an AMD card.

  • Thats crazy, scorptec was sold out in 1 minute
PCCG sold out in 10 because the site was down for ages
Got one from centrecom which looks to have worked

  • -3

Whats funny is all the vendors bragging about stock and price then people just believed them

  • Centrecom still has stocks, but a bit expensive + surcharges.
Ended up getting powercolor hellhound at $1239+surcharge, as somehow their reaper was $1199+surcharge.

    • +5

they updated price to 1139 AFTER it's sold out lmao

      • lol dang it!

      • wtf how is that legal?

  • Reaper sold out on multiple sites within minutes sigh.

  • I think I got a sapphire pulse through PCCG. Took about 5 attempts checking out with Paypal. Went out of stock a couple minutes after i finally got an order confirmation. I really hope they didnt over sell and start cancelling orders..

    • If you're worried, Centre Com still have them in stock at the same price. Pathetically, the Sapphire Pulse was meant to be one of the MSRP models, but the Australian distributors were having none of that. Absolute scumbags!

  • +1

Yeah I got a conf email for the reaper xt from pccg. Hope it's legit and they didn't oversell or dupe, bank account has been debited. Was rushing and picked standard instead of express post lol.

    • +1

Same. I had it in my cart really quickly, but then took ages to actually get the checkout to process, so not sure if it'll actually be honoured. Email came through at 01:09, so pretty late in the queue :-/

      • +1

Exact same here in every respect. Gl. I actually didn't want to risk changing the postage selection in case it needed further loading and gave me another "maintenance" page lol.

  • -1

Comments are odd saying all sold out. After 20 mins PCCG still has 3/11 models in stock
    and Scorptec still has 4/14.

    • +3

The in stock cards are $200 or something more. Ridiculous.

  • +3

Website really failed me and I missed out on this card which would actually fit my SFF build. Pretty devastated.

    • +1

I did some research and had a couple lined up, but steel legend was my goal. That was sold out within 20 seconds I think.

    • I managed to grab a Sapphire Pulse 9070xt which looks like it will fit in my wifes A4-H2O. I was originally going to try get the Reaper, but Im glad i didnt, because that seems to have been way more popular. It sold out while i was still screwing around with the PCCG checkout page.
The Sapphire has 2 HDMI ports which will come in handy for me anyway..

    • +2

there's more stock coming, i wouldnt be too cut. hopefully itll be at or near msrp.

  • +1

anyone want to swap my hellhound for reaper lol, realised hellhound doesnt fit in my case

    • Where abouts are you? Victoria?

Not to be a hater/greedia shill here - but I'm not quite seeing how the 9070xt given current pricing is such a deal? For transparency sake, I am currently using a 4070ti super for 1289$ bought a year back, yet thats not the atl by far when I remember seeing quite a few 4070ti s deals edging around the price of this last year; and at least given from what im seeing from GN and hardware unboxed the 9070xt isnt not doing much above a 4070ti super in most games - or even beaten in a few to make this much of a deal given its 'a gen newer' at the same price - i guess you can argue that 4070ti supers arent onsale now so this would make a deal but given this is the msrp price surely we can do better because you are paying the same for little to no performance uplift now that we are a year down the line? Not trying to go all 'HODL' but given that we are promised sufficient supply for this gen surely this price should stay at the very least?

    • +5

Yeah I just got a 9070 xt reaper $1139 and I wish I'd just got a 4070 ti super at $1132 last November. Time's passed though and this is the closest I can get. There's probably a lot of people who feel the same as me in hindsight but were told to hodl by more knowledgeable peeps for the 50 series which ended up a disappointment.

      • +5

more knowledgeable peeps for the 50 series which ended up a disappointment

man was that a disappointment, probably even the biggest tech scam of all time, havent seen such a bs gen to gen ‘gain' in a long time but probably more of that to come

    • +4

It's funny because people were saying to HODL for the 50 series when those 4070ti super deals were on
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/879078
People have been saying HODL for like, 7 years consecutively now.
I assume NVIDIA is going to eventually return to mrsp they usually do, but maybe this time they won't.

      • Hindsights a wonderful thing. 980 Ti was worth HODL'ing for, 3080 series was worth HODL'ing for.

Nvidia are just boning everyone because all their efforts are selling AI chips at even bigger markups, and gaming division is just for show.

    • +15

It's a sign of the times. We're paying significantly more for less, and not just for video cards, but everything. The RX 9070 XT isn't a fantastic video card or a good deal on its own merit, but simply because Nvidia's current generation of video cards are such terrible value and can't be purchased at MSRP (although, as we've witnessed, this holds true for AMD as well). The RX 9070 XT shouldn't have been more than $1,050 with GST included, but the lowest price was $1,139 for the ASRock Steel Legend and PowerColor Reaper and they sold out instantly. Even worse, the Sapphire Pulse (which from all reports, had plentiful stock) was meant to be one of the video cards available at MSRP, and it was $1,299! Nothing about this is a good deal, but people are desperate.

      • Any idea why? Do people really buy each gen GPU? Amd is not that good for ai?

        • +1

We know amd has been getting market share in the last few years.

So both NVIDIA and AMD probably are happy with the situation. NVIDIA is selling overpriced GPU because their main market is the AI industry, and AMD is happy to pick up the gamers that NVIDIA is neglecting.

      • +1

I agree with you, if the 5070 was actually good, this should have been max $1000, to see the card the same price as 5070 made me question why even buy this besides FOMO. I had it in my cart and I didn’t feel excited at all, so I closed the browser and went to sleep with $1299 still in the bank. Thumbs down for Sapphire.

      • +1

In reality the best thing is for everyone to be grateful for what they have, not what the latest shiny thing is.

        e.g.
Buy that 7800XT for $700, play games on 1080p/1440p IPS monitor for $500

        instead of

Buying a 5080 to play games on a 4K OLED monitor, where your total system is a months wage

There's so many great games in the last decade or so that I bet people haven't played yet, and thats not even exploring emulation

    • +3

Unfortunately I need a video card for my wifes PC, and I have already made her wait months for the new gen that was coming out. I am kicking myself that I didnt get her a 4080S when I built her PC, but it would have been dumb to buy an end of life card when the 5080 was so close. Same reason I didnt get myself a 4090 at the same time. Well, hindsight is a bitch, and now Im stuck with my 3080Ti and she is getting this card which in the current market is considered good value.

    • yeah if you've been waiting to see how the 50 and 90 series turned out, now you know, wait just a little bit longer for another 4070 TiS deal (like me)

    • +3

Let me propose a question. Cast your mind back, let's say, six months:

NVIDIA and AMD are launching a new generation of GPUs. Do you assume they are going to be better, worse, or the same as what is currently on sale?

The natural assumption is better, of course. Why would they bother with a new generation otherwise? While we knew AMD were going to focus on mid-range cards for RDNA 4, nobody had any indication that Blackwell was going to be a gigantic flop that, at best, has merely maintained the kinds of price and performance we were already seeing with Lovelace (or worse, reset it).

And so many people chose to wait. Blackwell comes out and not only does it not live up to expectations, it's also basically impossible to buy unless you've got a lot of cash (and probably lube) spare. There's now a lot of pent up demand for GPUs in this performance tier, and nobody has a time machine to be able to go back 6/9/12 months and buy a 4070 Ti SUPER, 4080, or 4080 SUPER for arguably better prices.

In terms of the price for the 9070 XT itself, there's been a lot of people suggesting that the way AMD have hit their $600 USD MSRP (or $1140 AUD RRP based on the Reaper) is through a $50 USD rebate on the supply side, suggesting that a) their original target MSRP was $650 USD, and b) those rebates could end sooner rather than later, which will cause prices to increase in the near term.

People can only buy what is available to them, and with so much pent up demand, something like this is going to be pretty popular.

      • +1

yeh hindsight is a bitch… If only id bought a 4090 for myself and 4080s for my wifes PC… now im stuck with my 3080Ti and she at least gets a 9070xt..

    • +1

4070ti s is better as it uses DLSS 4, the GP card this year has gone up 25% for no reason, ppl just cant wait to buy a card?
9700 XT should have launched at $1k, it would be a steal and AMD would have made a lot of ground on Nvidia
it seems they released a mid range card for high range price to me, crazy times

      • I think GTX 1070s launched for the equivalent of like $1000 out here once adjusted for inflation.

These sorts of cards only increasingly look "mid-range" because the top of the line has exploded in die size and power; all of NVIDIA's top tier consumer GPUs were 250W cards from the 780 Ti through the 2080 Ti. Both the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT are ~300W (304W for the 9070 XT and 340W for certain partner OC models).

After the 2080 Ti, it only took us (well, it only took NVIDIA) three generations to go from 350W to 450W to 575W for its flagship - over double the power of the "high end" cards of yore. So yeah it probably makes some sense that cards in the 250-300W range are starting to look pretty mid-range in comparison.

I don't think anyone was expecting the 50 series to merely maintain essentially the same price vs performance vs power (supply/scalping notwithstanding) as the 40 series - that's highly atypical and has definitely led to these sorts of market conditions.

        • dont think so, I bought 1080ti for like $900

          • @botchie: From memory 1080 Tis launched for a quite a bit more than that, more like $1200+ ($1500 with inflation), and it was also close to a year after the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080, so not really comparable.

            • @tmr3: maybe, i dont buy cards at launch, few months in price used to drop like crazy but Nvidia now figured out how to hold on to value - release smaller batches, mid year changes etc. keep limited supply
they got good at screwing the consumer

    • If the 4070ti super was still available at $1100~, it wouldn't really be much a deal.

      But its not.

So realistically, this at $1100 is as good as it gets for you money

    • Ooh, good chance he won't be able to sell that. Models that overpriced are still in stock!

Fingers crossed all the scalpers get burnt!

    • +1

Who are the weirdos who would actually buy this, where it's advertised complete with the unscalped price? Is something wrong with them?

  • +13

Stock levels are sh*** and it doesn't count that there is 1 MSRP model and 9 others that are 200$+. Sorry no deal. The card is good BUT only at MSRP.

    • Why are you negging a post about this specific card which they seemingly had atleast 10 of (the ozbargain post guidelines only require 10) because other models arent MSRP?

This is a blatant misuse of the negative vote system.

      • +2

because MSRP isn't a deal to some? it's just the MSRP..

        • Exactly that. MSRP is not a deal. I don't get why people are throwing around thumbs up for something that isn't even available at the cheapest MSRP, but I can tell you that's why companies are increasing their prices gen on gen on gen.
There should be a different topic, maybe "FYI" for stuff that's about to be released "at msrp", that's it. The moment it goes one dollar above it's not even worth mentioning on a deals website.
Anyways still like ozbargain but good, real deals are getting rare these days.

  • I'm devastated. I tried so hard to get a card but sites kept crashing…

    • SAPPHIRE Pulse 1299 at centrecom and some other more expensive ones are still in stock if you are desperate…

Check the statement here, they'll have more arriving. Pccg will announce there when new stock will be listing, so keep an eye out on that page.

    • You probably dodged a bullet.

Nobody knows for sure in these crazy times, but chances are things will settle and these will be under a grand later this year.

    • Had the same thing happen back with the 6000 series release, sucks alright. Still cards around online though. CentreCom & JW has stock

  • +5

Graphics cards seem very polarizing based on the comments here.

Regardless of which vendor you prefer, we can all agree the current state of PC gaming is in a sad state, and anyone wanting to buy a GPU right now is getting screwed one way or another.

As I tell my coworkers (some of whom are Apple fanboys), be glad competition exists—without it, Apple would happily be charging twice as much for a new phone.

I’m thankful AMD and Intel (to some extent) are able to offer competition; otherwise, Ngreedia would have no qualms charging thousands for a new card… wait, what? oh…..

    • Yup Jensen's in mind everyone owns a USD $10,000 PC, so increasing GPU prices to make that a reality

  • +3

I would have upgraded to this from my 6800XT but wasn't going to wait till 1am to try and buy the single card they listed at MSRP … lol Mwave kept telling me sorry we can't tell you the MSRP in AUS we are under NDA … what a complete load of horse shit, AMD gave the MSRP in US so why the heck wouldn't it know what it should be in AUS, basically just Disto/Retailers seeing how much they can milk it in Aus…

    • +1

it was pretty obvious it would be this price, wouldn't undercut the 7900XT being a newer card…

      • Then just say it's "this price" not some horse crap about not being allowed… by the way Mwave do not have a single card at "MSRP", cheapest being $1300.

        • neither do any retailers for 50-series cards

        • +2

I don't think Mwave was lying, distributers can definitely screw them over with ridiculous terms like that.

  • +1

holy crap this is way cheaper than the 5070 TI I have damn!!

  • turns out though the 5070 TI is still better then the 9070 XT in performance and ray tracing. still though for the price its really good deal for the 9070 xt.

  • Found the scalper, they even have screenshots of the PC Case Gear page- https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/388041942692

    • what an absolute sh*t (profanity)

    • Aren't there better models in stock for less, still?

AMD didn't have enough stock for everyone to get a "cheap" one, but still plenty left under $1600.

Hopefully all the scalpers can't sell.

      • pretty much the same thing happened with the 5000 series of Nvidia. I ended up paying 1899 for a MSI 5070 TI on launch

    • WTAF… this hustle culture seriously.

  • The PowerColour Reaper is still available at CentreCom for C&C @ Clayton, VIC

    https://www.centrecom.com.au/powercolor-radeon-reaper-rx-907…

  • Too much FOMO going on right now. Been planning an upgrade for a while but willing to sit back and let things settle for a couple of months.

The fact that KCD2 decided to run at 60fps ultra on my 6700xt makes it easy enough to sit out.

    • Yeah wait it out, who knows later it’s possible, like in the past with AMD GPUs such as the 5700 (which could have its BIOS flashed to a 5700 XT or even AMD Vega 56 to 64), to perform a similar BIOS flash on the AMD 9000 series GPUs since they're the same die. Majority of the AMD 9070 has 2x8 PCIE and some model has 3x8 PCIE which is unusual for a card that's power efficient, maybe the power is locked via software.

      • Keep dreaming..

        Never going to happen..

the GPU manufacturers have been laser etching the CPU for more than the last decade to make sue this never happens again..
plus the power limits, are pretty locked down, with a combination of bios and hardware..

Most people of not willing to crossflash there backs to another bios and potential void warranty for the sake of a few percentage gains..

    • Yup, I have been sitting on the 6700 xt for awhile, there is no rush to get 9070 xt, we just wait for the FOMO to pass and get a bargain.

      • Bad move…

the initial cards.. have attracted a rebate from AMD to bring some cards down to MSRP..
Once these cards are gone.. no more rebate!!!

        • +1

          Nice try, AMD!

        • +1

But isn't the rebate only because they supplied then over a month ago at a 650 MSRP, hence giving back ~$50 for each MSRP card sold.

Surely, in a "fair" world, batch #2 of MSRP models will be supplied and sold again at this $1139 AUD price.
