im quite impressed with moto consistently putting out bangers of deals and they frequently make top of ozb choice of phones

    • -3

      I'm hanging out for S24 of Pixel 8 deal…

      • What deal was that ?

        • A deal that's cataclysmic !

    • +5

Ever since Ozb talked about moto g5plus. I've always been getting moto gxx

My only complaint is the camera quality is not so great.

I really love the chop and twist gestures

      • +5

Just install gcam mod (google camera) for most android phones. It could improve the photo quality.

        Get it from here:
        celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

One of the most popular mod is from BSG. There are settings that need to be changed for better photo quality.

      • +1

Its why Ive still got my 6 year old lgV30. Great camera and 3.5mm port but the irreplacable thing is the quad DAC. For people with wired headphones, I think they will be valuable as fulltime music players.

    • $15 drops in 24 hours, tomorrow should be sub $300??

  • I would be all over this if it had a glass or aluminium body/back instead of vegan leather/plastic.

    • +4

      You like heavy phones?

      • +4

coz its vegan leather, we want meat leather.

      • +10

Yes, I'd like my phone to be heavier and more brittle thankyou! I want to make sure that no matter which way I drop my phone something breaks.

The good thing about the plastic backs is that you actually can remove them pretty easily if you need to (pretty easily as in putting a shim under it and peeling the glue away). Try that with a glass back and it will break.

    • +12

When you slap on a case, you don't even notice.

      • +6

        Just get a glass case!

    • +2

      MIL-STD 810H
      Military grade-certified

Imagine when you drop a glass/aluminium phone case. It's a matter of when, not if.

Maybe that's the reason why Moto chose vegan leather/plastic back.

Samsung S25 Ultra for example is much more expensive and it doesn't have MIL-STD 810H certification.

Most people put a phone case anyway …

  • +1

Just placed an order on JB hifi, $349 plus $6.99 delivery. Applied birthday $10 and $300 gift card with 10% off. This deal is still better and easier.

  • +1

does WW ER extra members' 10% off apply here?

    • +4

XMAR2025 this code is what 10% for WW ER extra you are talking about

      • The extra off if you have mobile service with Woolies

  • +3

Thanks! Bought one. 5% further off if you have access to rewardgateway to buy bigw gift card.

    • +5

and check for ER boosters.. I had 7x points for BigW, so a $300 spend gives over 2000 pts = over $10

  • +15

This is a very large phone.
    166.1 x 77.2 x 8.3 mm, 6.8 inch screen.
If you end up putting a case on it, it will be a few millimetres larger in all dimensions.
Bear that in mind if you prefer smaller devices.

It also has no headphone jack, if you prefer wired 3.5mm audio.

    • Tell that to Samsung S25 Ultra buyers :P as the phone is heavier (218 g) and it's 6.9 inch …

      • +2

S25 Ultra has a larger screen, but the physical dimensions are actually smaller.

Thickness is within 0.1mm, width is within 0.4mm, but the G75 is 3.3mm taller thanks to its larger bezels, especially on the bottom.

        https://www.gsmarena.com/size-compare-3d.php3?idPhone1=13322…

This is also bearing in mind that the S25 Ultra has to sacrifice a bit of internal space for that pen slot.

      • I have S23U which is bigger than the S25U slightly. The Moto G75 is bigger than my S23U (taller)!

  • +4

Wow. It was a good deal when I bought it yesterday from mobileciti. Yet this is an even better deal AND I could have used my bigw gift cards. I feel kinda bad.

    • See dealer1's post below. You might get a refund also.

    • Don't worry. I bought from Officeworks for $399.

It went down last night to $347 and was able to claim price protection on it. Hopefully OW will drop further.

      • What's your thoughts on the phone so far? Happy with it?

        • +1

Yeah stoked. I've been on the Xiaomi Redmi note series for years due to the camera quality. The camera is fine on this. It's quick and not bloated. But the best parts so far are the little things like shaking to access torch and double clicking power button or flip the phone twice to open camera. Moto buds are great in that people can hear me clearly on phone calls.

          • +1

@OldBugger: Awesome! Thanks for your review.

I'm actually upgrading from a Redmi Note 10 Pro because it just randomly restarts and keeps boot looping so I'm over Xiaomi.

Hopefully Motorola comes through with the 5yrs of updates

            • +2

@montorola: I had the RM 9 Pro then they cut off 3g and I was stranded. I forgot, the best thing about the moto is the side fingerprint reader. Just like my old Xiaomi.

  • Hmm, whether to use 5% off ww egift cards or whether to price protect it by buying on credit card…

  • You are welcome

  • +1

Can’t add to cart for me. Based in WA.

  • +6

    Rang mobiciti, refunded $30😀

    • +2

Thanks for this, was considering the change of mind option for $10 return. Called after I saw this and they didn't seem to have an issue just refunding the difference.
If it comes through great and awesome service, if not o well.

      • +6

+1 for mobiciti - I didn't buy from them but I will in the future based on this interaction you guys had

      • +1

        Refund confirmed
        - Nice job Mobileciti

        • What did you tell them? Just asked if they could refund the difference?

          • +1

@gaber: Said I ordered the phone online recently, provided order number, and that I'd seen a better price come out. They checked their price, but I mentioned it was through Big W and having a Rewards discount. Stated they would need to discuss with team, but came back and said we'll match and refund the difference. Took 2-3 hours for the refund notice to come through.

Thought the code was XMAS2025 🎄

    • +2

Thats coming. In a few months.

      • Will wait for the boxing day sale then

    • +1

      Christmas in March

  • Great , thanks , just purchased one.

  • +1

Thanks. Bought as my oppo phone doesn't have NPC. Its only when you lose access to tap and pay do you realize how much you use it.

    • Careful with this, apparently this phone's NFC isn't a specific type of secure NFC and some applications don't support. Haven't got it yet to verify, but will likely be a return if it doesn't work.

      • I had a quick look and you may be right. That's pretty shirt.. =/

      • +1

It works with common payment systems - and that's all most people will use. As long as it works on eftpos terminals, and Squares then most people don't need anything else.

        • +1

Including Google Pay (if you use it)?

        • That's good to hear, the question has been asked on most G75 sales, but no answer

        • So where wouldn't it work basically?

  • +1

    Thanks bought two

  • Local store has no stock and it won't let me add to cart (even for delivery or delayed C&C). Not sure whats up with that, for all 3 colors.

    • +1

log off, add to cart, view cart and log in when prompted and it will be in your cart.

  • thanks OP i purchased one

  • +1

Should I move from xiaomi 11 5g NE to this one?

    • +1

      You won't regret it.

      • No longer available?

    • +2

IMO wouldn't bother unless something about the Xiaomi is bothering you.

      • Nokia G42 vs?

        • +1

vs the G75 I assume? If so then the G75 is considerably better than the Nokia.

  • How's the camera? I'm using the G54 and the night shots are atrocious

    • Would like to know too. I’ve got a Google 6a and it’s been pretty good. Wondering whether the camera is better and if it’s worth an upgrade.

  • Anybody else having trouble linking their Everyday Rewards account? I just get in an endless loop where it doesn't give an error but it doesn't link. Tried two browsers and the Big W app.

  • anyone know how many battery cycles this g75 is rated for, theres no point in long updates if theres low cycle count

    • +1

I've been using a moto G9+ since 11/20. Battery life appears to be the same.
I have dropped it so many times, its time for a new one otherwise i'd stick with it.

      • +1

Wow, that's a good battery then. Were you a medium user with only charging once per day (and sometimes a

small top up maybe), or heavy user with 2 charges per day?

        • +1

Once per day, i dont play games on it. i do read and use for audio a fair bit. Stream audio 6hrs/day at work.

          • @Arnor: That makes sense then, still a decent battery all the same. Were you careful not to let the

phone go below 10% charge or flat often, and maybe also not charge to 100% every time?

            • +1

@ozhunter68: I havent taken any care in maintaining the battery. Always charge to 100%, it has run out very rarely 1-5 times.
I have had MOTOS for ~10 years. the batteries are always great.

              • @Arnor:

I've been using a moto G9+ since 11/20. Battery life appears to be the same.

pls consider installing AccuBattery-APP & advise the Battery-health % as per estimated, say 85%

                Your model is 5000mAh AU-Model XT2087-2, right ? https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/motorola-g9-plus-there-is-life-…

Feel free to advise any other behaviour NOT-mentioned here? Thanks

                • +1

@ab c: I installed that app yesterday at about 1-2pm. Battery was at ~80% , its now 22% at 6am. Waiting for it to go under 15% so i can charge it and get the health reading.
I even tried to speed it up , running some games, for not long though.

                • +1

@ab c: Finally got below 15% and charged it, battery health says 71% in that app.

                  • +1

                    @Arnor: @Danzerman, @ozhunter68, @Arnor

battery health says 71% in that app (AccuBattery)…I've been using a moto G9+ since 11/20…i do read and use for audio a fair bit. Stream audio 6hrs/day at work

Your battery use is LOW & hence your comments 'Battery life appears to be the same'.

Those who does MORE video & search the internet using their phone won't last a day-use with a 5000mAh battery @ 71% battery-health.

Wait for clearance-sale, this phone likely to drop to a $200 ish, with-OUT earbuds…in a few months?

                    • @ab c: That's exactly what I'm waiting for as my mate wants something like this for under $300, preferably another top value Moto.

    • Li-ion batteries: 300 to 500 FULL-cycles, https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-808-how-to-prolong-…

Case 2: 75–25% SoC has 3,000 cycles (to 90% capacity) and delivers 150,000 EU. Utilizes 50% of battery. (EV battery, new.)
      https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-808-how-to-prolong-…

If LONGEVITY is important, research the above.

      You use 50% of the battery-capacity, carry a power-bank to target 75–25% SoC/battery-level.
Monitor your battery information using APP, eg AccuBattery.

I'm testing this claim with practices including,
      1.Mobile-phone on on usb-HUB SLOW-charging when @ home all-the-time & wall-charger when needed, 75% SoC ish
2.Summer months: mobile phone rest on a fan: to reduce 2-4°C…battery-temp rarely below 30°C
3.turn-on aeroplane-mode when not using phone, eg working & sleeping hrs
      4.Minimise FLAT & FULL-charge battery

Battery-usage: since Nov-24, my monthly-average 1000%, that's equivalent to using 100% of my battery 10 times, as per AccuBattery-APP. Low to medium usage?

EV applies battery-longevity-practice..more variables & complexity. EVs TRY to get 10+ years battery-life, https://batteryuniversity.com/article/why-mobile-phone-batte…

      • Thank you for your work. I have only been doing frequent charging and taking off when around 80% and making sure I don't go below 20%. So far 92% battery life on my purchased at release iPhone 13 Pro Max. Not sure how many cycles though haven't really plugged it into a computer to check.

        • Targeting 80–20% SoC is also great. 92% battery-life/health is proof that it works for a ~ 3.5 yr usage.

Not sure how many cycles though haven't really plugged it into a computer to check

          Reason?

          • @ab c: Just haven’t needed to. Everything is backed to cloud. Might need to do later, I am curious to know. Would imagine it would be at least 300 cycles.

            • @jlogic:

Would imagine it would be at least 300 cycles.

Feel free to check & advise.

My phone: AccuBattery noted '64.7c over 382d'

              • @ab c: Ok had a look using iMazing for PC. @ab c

Looks like it is traveling fine, fingers crossed.

                According to the stats:

Battery Design Max Charge: 4325 mAh
Battery Effective Max Charge: 4137 mAh (95.7%)
                Battery Charge Cycles: 746
                Battery Temperature: 32.9C
                Battery Average Temperature: 26.0C
                Battery Min. Temperature: 10.7C
                Battery Max. Temperature: 51.8C

                • @jlogic:

                  Battery Charge Cycles: 746

Your phone had the EQUIVALENT of 746 FULL-cycles from the partial charging & discharging, over ~ 3.5 yrs. This is because you were targeting 80–20% SoC. LOWER-voltage via lower battery-charge-level EXTEND battery-life.

If you were targeting 100-0% SoC (fully charge to 100% & use phone until flat-battery), you'd only get 300-500 FULL-cycles, ~ 1.5 yrs use.

                  92% battery life

Your phone still last whole day use, with minor-lost compare to new.

                  • @ab c: Thanks @ab c

So basically keep doing what I am doing. Happy with that. And yes it lasts a day if I am not gaming on it. Just general usage it can go from morning to bed time. I don’t leave it charging overnight. Just make sure I charge it periodically during the day if I am at my desk and at home next to bed but take it off charge.

Also never really use wireless charging as well.
