[iOS, macOS] Netflix Standard Plan INR₹499 (~A$9.12) via iTunes India Vouchers @ Netflix India (No VPN Required)

1122

Tested working. Full credit to Merb0786 @ HUKD for the deal and the steps below.

Why does this method work?

No VPN required.
Payments are made with iTunes vouchers, which reduces the risk of Netflix detecting or blocking your account.
Works on any device after initial activation.
It is a stable method that takes advantage of the regional price difference between Apple Store and Netflix in India.
You will have access to the normal UK Netflix catalogue.

Total cost:

Monthly: 499 INR ≈ A$9.19 / Annual: = Approx. $111
By comparison, the same plan in AU costs $18.99 per month , which is $228 per year - you save more than $100.

Prerequisites:

An Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac).
Create an Apple ID account via the India region .
Buy iTunes India vouchers (you can do this from Amazon India).

The steps outlined below involves signing into the App Store, downloading a specific game and subscribing to Netflix through the game itself which allows you to pay using your iTunes vouchers. Once you're done signing up, you'll be able to access your Netflix account from any device: smart TV, PC, iPhone, Android, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Create a new Apple Account here or directly with your Apple Device (Country: UK) - use an e-mail address that is not associated with any other Apple account. Next, enter either your real information or a random UK address. (You can use the same number used for your existing UK Apple ID). Once done, sign-in to your iPhone with this account.

Note: Remember to log-out of any existing account on the Apple device for now.

  1. Log-in with your UK Amazon account at the following pageand then add an Indian address to your account and set as default temporarily. (address generator). I used the following phone number: 1548389891

  2. Buy an iTunes gift card worth 499 INR via Amazon India. To do so, log in to the following page with your UK Amazon account: Amazon India - iTunes gift card (Sent by email | Payment with UK a UK card). Note - The Indian iTunes voucher will only be displayed if you are logged in and your address has been set to India as above. Once order is placed, will take approx. 5 minutes to arrive via e-mail. Note:You can purchase the entire years worth in one go - you will need 6000 INR to cover the entire year. (Approx. $110).

  3. Open the App Store and tap your profile picture at the top. Click your name and go to "Change country/region". Select "India" and enter an Indian address to confirm the change. You can use the same one as what you used via Amazon.

  4. Tap your profile picture again and select "Redeem gift card or code". Then click "You can also enter your code manually". Now enter the 16-digit code that you received from Amazon via email. (I believe you can also use iTunes to redeem as well).

  5. Go on the App Store and search for Stranger Things: 1984 and install this game. Run the game and it will ask you to either sign-in to Netflix or sign-up. Choose the sign-up option.

  6. Sign-up with an e-mail account / password and you will see the option for the "Netflix Standard Plan" for 499 INR. Hit subscribe and it will process the payment using your iTunes voucher amount.

  7. Sign out of the Apple account created in the first step and log into the one you use normally (if you wish to do so) - YouTube Premium subscription will still appear.

To log back in with your normal Apple ID (if you wish to do so): Open the App Store on your device, click on your profile picture in the top right corner, scroll down and sign out of your Indian Apple ID and then log back into your normal Apple ID. Netflix will still work as the app has nothing to do with Apple directly. You can also use Netflix normally on your PC, TV or Android phone from this point onwards.

Note: Remember to keep your account topped up with iTunes vouchers and that will ensure the subscription remains active - it does not matter whether the Indian account is logged in or not all the time.

Standard HD 1080p Plan (No Ads)

  • Unlimited advert-free movies, TV shows, and mobile games
  • Watch on 2 supported devices at a time
  • Watch in Full HD Download on 2 supported devices at a time
  • Option to add 1 extra member who doesn't live with you

Does it have to be UK or because this write up is from UK forums?

    • +2

it will give you the Aus catalog based on your ip address, assume this is just taken from the UK write up. Given netflix had a huge crackdown on the Turkey sub I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes too popular they will do the same

How does Youtube revanced replace Netflix? Have not tried revanced, but does it allow you to see all Netflix content as well?

Must have caught it watching a Quentin Torrentio film :p

Rule 1 -> Don't talk about "Fight Club".
        Sheesh!

    • Brave browser has been giving me grief with youtube ads lately. Videos play for a minute or two and at the point where they want to play a video there's a grey error instead and the video stops playing. Turning off shields gets the video to play but then I see ads and that's too retro for me.

      • what device do you use?

        • It's giving grief on a mac.

  • +4

Been using it for a while now.
    Works like a charm.
    Same for YT Premium

    • how much is YTP there?

      • +1

        ~$4.30/month via Turkey iOS IAP

    • Been using it for a while now.

How long have you been using it?

      • I've been using it for over a year.

    • Works for NBA league pass too

    • It would be great if you spare some time and explain the steps to get YTP from India..🙏🏽

    iOS in title please

    • +3

iOS is only on iPhone or iPad, macOS is on Mac laptops.

Thanks for the correction! Shows that I'm not in the ecosystem haha

If you want to be really technical, it's not called iOS on iPads anymore, it's iPadOS now :)

        • And even more technical, you can run MacOS on a Windows PC

I have stremio but im actually thinking about this cos the ui layout and finding things to watch is better on netflix.

      • +1

The home categories are customisable so..

        • What add on do you use for that?

          • @MeesusEff: I use Cyberflix but there’s a bunch of others out there too

            • @TheFreaK: Ah yeah i have cyberflix. I wanted a category that bases it on stuff similar to what ive watched.

              • @MeesusEff: The Couchmoney addon integrates with Trakt for recommendations

    • Is it 4k content?

Why does running Stranger Things 1984 ask you to sign up for Netflix?

  • Any help for the turkish Disney plus? Just got an email that it will be 3499 Turkish liah in may…. Which is like 110% increase almost same price as australia

    • They are trying to tell you to use Stremio

  • I'm still paying $13.05 on the Premium Plan via Turkey (payment via Macquarie Debit card). Not sure if its possible to sign up for that any more.

    • That's pretty good. I was on that deal until they revoked my visa. Signed up again and only lasted a week.

    • Little bit cheaper with gift cards. ~$12.40 for premium.

  • I pay mine $7.99$ per month in Australia, is it any benefit to get this from India? Thanks

    • what netflix plan is $7.99?

      • Standard with ads?

        • oh yes my bad didn't realise :)

          • +1

@prankster: Can I ask how many ads you see per episode? is it similar to Amazon Prime?

            • +3

@kalakaar: tbh I don't see alot of ads on netflix to notice compared to amazon prime and when I do, then I'd just go e.g. get a glass of water

              • +2

@prankster: I just download my prime episodes to my device then turn off wifi and watch it offline then no ad's… but yeh not ideal for watching on TV via fire stick etc

            • +2

@kalakaar: From memory its maybe 2x 30 second ones, not always at the start

            • +2

@kalakaar: depends on titles but it' really not that bad. Found it quite annoying at first but quickly got used to it and now I embrace it for a quick stretching/toilet run/check on phone etc.

      • +3

The ads version. Honestly after messing about so much with Turkey, Argentina, India, and all of them eventually being banned I just couldn’t be bothered.

I paid for the ads version and without trying to shill the company because I think it’s (profanity) stupid we are full circle and now back to paying to watch movies with ads in-between, the ads that Netflix does actually show are very few indeed. Usually only a 15 second ad maybe 3-4 times in a movie from my experience.

It’s MUCH MUCH less intrusive than Prime’s 2 minute ad breaks they will run. By the time I realise a Netflix ad has popped up, it’s usually already gone.

That being said, it’s only me in the household as well so I’m not sure on multiple devices.

        • yeah true the ads haven't been that annoying as say like youtube ads lol

plus to get around it especially when on mobile, just close the ad video and then click on what you were watching and it plays straight away

so nice of netflix to not spam ad the shit out for now

        • Think the problem with Ads is content limitations.. there is content that is not available on ad-based subscription.

      • Find someone who already pays the full amount and you just pay the extra household member price. Which is $5.99 with ads or $7.99 without ads.

        • Just setup a vpn to their house. If they are using chromecasts its pretty easy to do. They only need to connect the vpn once every few months for it to think you are in their house.

  • +1

Does it work with Turkey apple account? I already have Turkish apple account + credit for youtuble premium and NBA league pass

  • does this method work for 4K plan (premium) plan?

    • -1

      Yes

      • +1

        How much?

        • It’s 649 Indian Rupees ~ 12 AUD a month. (144$ annually)

I’ve got this plan and share it with my friends so I end up paying 3 AUD (36$ annually) a month.

      • Currently trying this through Turkey (as I already have a funded iTunes account established). I only see an option when signing up for the standard plan (229.99 Turkish Lira, so ~$9.50) - do you sign up for this and then upgrade via the Netflix app?

EDIT: Can confirm that there is no option to change the subscription (other than cancelling) after it has commenced.

      • How? I get as far as downloading the game to my Indian Apple ID, signing in with a new Netflix account, but then it only offers the Standard plan for 499 rupees, with no option for 4K. Anyone managed to sign up for a higher tier using OP's method?

Edit: On the original HotUKdeals thread linked above, OP has explicitly stated that the Premium plan is not available using this method.

  • Does India have the household restrictions? ie you can only watch from 1 IP address

Fair enough, thanks. Ill stay on Turkey then, $15AUDpm for the top plan.

        • Ill stay on Turkey then

          Still work?

          • +3

@superforever: Yeah, I just buy the Netflix gift cards from G2A so there's no payment method to verify my location. Been doing this for about 12 months.

Can get 500 TRY for about $24AUD, and the plan is 300 TRY/pm.

        • Coming out at TRY 299 / $13.05 for me - I guess you pay a slight premium for using the gift cards?

          • @gadgetguy: Nah no premium on redeeming gift cards, you're likely just buying them from somewhere cheaper.

Could you maybe link/PM the store you're getting that price at please? As long as they take Paypal

            • @Gracey: I'm paying on my Macquarie debit card - no gift cards involved.

              • @gadgetguy: Oh right, nice. I had my plan cancelled ages ago for using an aussie credit card

        • Hey Gracey, is this the family plan that allows up to 4 different IP address? If you pay with Turkey Netflix gift cards, they won't ban your family plan with different IP address?

          • +1

@arctan: Hi Arctan, long time no speak :)

I'm currently on turkey plan (using my Citibank credit) unfortunately Turkiye does not allow multi IP addresses.

            https://help.netflix.com/en/node/123279/tr

            • @starburstyellow: Thanks mate I was hoping they still work with the Netlfix Turkey gift card method.

            • +2

@starburstyellow: @starburstyellow You can get around this by setting up a VPN for those not in your house to your place. It only needs to be connected once every few months to fool it into thinking you are at the same address

              • @Geoff-bargain: Ah ok. So it's possible. But annoying as my parents are overseas and older. Not really tech savvy.

        • HI Team,, A newbee here. Does anyone have a link that explains how to get on the Turkey Bus for Netflix? I am using a TCL 4K TV [Google Android Based] and am an Android phone user, however I can get access to an old Apple 5S, be it I can hook it up to WIFI for access to get things started/signed up. I do have a MAC credit card. I currently use Netflix premium 4K and enjoy the higher quality so I would like to stick to that, but not wedded to it. Many thanks in advance.

          • @PW2272: @PW2272 First let your AU Netflix membership lapse. Then you have 2 options,

            1. Follow the instructions on this deal but purchase Turkish iTunes vouchers instead from somewhere like G2A This is the preferred option IMO as it allows you to subscribe to Youtube Premium for cheap, as well as a variety of other services

            2. Purchase Turkish Netflix gift cards from somewhere like G2A and redeem them via Netflix Turkey. You can re-use your existing Netflix account by making sure you're signed into Australia Netflix on your browser, then activating a VPN and visiting the Turkey link

            • @Gracey: I think I am on month to month, so I will check that out. Many thanks :-)

        • Doesn't that mean they don't limit it to 1 IP?

  • +4

Yeah nah, with the ad plan here being $8 its not worth the convoluted hassle.

  • +2

Yeah, get blocked in 10 days

    • There's no control to reconcile Apple store payment against the actual region the user is using the service - doubt the service provider can demand any evidence from Apple themselves.

Been using this for NBA Leaguepass and YT premium for a while now and it's really not so bad to use once set up just have to top up the apple credit every now and then

      • I use it for YT prem .. works well

      • -2

Does not need apple or samsung or whatever, Netflix GEOBLOCKING is in full swing. Why on earth you have INDIAN account when you are watching in Australia. Unless, you are at harris park, you might get away.

        • Wasn't aware of any geoblocking restrictions but seems like others in the thread don't have any issue?

        • I've been on Netflix Turkey for like 2 years bruh

  • +1

I have been using this for a long time. I pay INR 649 for the top package.

  • +1

Will Netflix get annoyed because you're 'travelling' so much?

  • Will it work if someone from there make an account. And use the login credentials without VPN?

  • +2

Why would you bother with this over Stremio?

  • Wow what a workaround.

Fortunately I don't have to do this as my cousin from Vietnam shares me an acc with no household restrictions :o

    • How much does it cost in VN?

      • Watch Netflix on your smartphone, tablet, Smart TV, laptop, or streaming device, all for one fixed monthly fee. Plans range from 70,000 ₫ to 260,000 ₫ a month. No extra costs, no contracts.

But I'm pretty sure my cousin buys it off something probably cheaper and it's shared across a lotta peeps lol
