  • Has anyone had OW deny a costco price beat?

    • +2

just did a min ago by calling them, $1098.

      • So did I. Unfortunately 256GB was not available in Teal or Ultramarine so I bought 128GB after I endured a small sales pitch to buy Pro.

    • +2

      but iphone 16e is cheaper?

      • -3

        Not cheaper than Galaxy A55 $5.6 * 24m = <$135 (with better AI than next year's iPhone) on Voda plan I had (additional device & just finished paying TCL 20 R 5G for 80c * 24 ~$20 ;)

        • +3

android phones are not iOS phones.

its a bit pointless comparing that. especially that most people now invest in the eco system not the device.

        • Link?

right now i am trying to tell myself to resist the temptation….

    • +10

      Buy now and resist after.

      • +2

buy in haste, repent at leisure …

  • Is the pro model worth extra or is this okay?

    • +1

Outside of the third camera I feel the difference for day to day use is minimal.

      • +4

60Hz screen is big for many people

        • +3

Agree. If you have been using better screens, you will feel the difference if you go back to 60hz

        • it's like telling someone who's only seen 1080p that 4k is better

        • +2

IMO I don't think "many" is the right word, but "some" is better.

I think in tech circles we like to shake out fists in anger when we see obscene amounts being charged for a 60Hz screen, seeing a 60Hz screen in 2025 when Samsung does cheap phones with 120Hz, but honestly my wife and many others like her could not care less.

Personally the 120Hz matters to me, I let my wife choose and she didn't care, said they were both acceptable.

To answer the question from Punkel - iPhone 15/15 Pro (what we have) is a little different given 6GB vs 8GB of RAM, but honestly going back and forth between devices - the standard model is great and the extra money in the 16 series probably isn't worth it.

          • +1

@Apostle0748: I definitely do have a sample selection bias.
60Hz is rough for me and most people I ask. But we all use 120Hz min for phones and PCs.

My girlfriend said she can notice the difference but doesn't care.

            • @Mr Awesome: Fair.

My girlfriend said she can notice the difference but doesn't care.

I think this would be how most feel.

          • +1

@Apostle0748: Honestly, I regularly use my partner's iPhone 12 Mini (60Hz) screen and can hardly tell the difference between hers and my iPhone 16 Pro 120Hz. I have excellent eyesight and work in tech

    • Yes

  • +3

So they add 128gb of storage and that equates to a price increase of $200??

    • that's for iRipOff :(

    • The apple's law is charging $200 in USD extra. This $200 in AUD might be considered a deal ;)

This is desperate iPhone sale off - in the age of MAGA - Make Asia-pacific century Great As it was. Even iPhones are manufactured in AP, soon will be indiaPhone (good luck with quality ;)
128GB vs 1TB+ on most Asain phones with microSD card video/photo/music backup? 20min 8K video on 128GB :(

    • is this the supply that can't be sold in the US since the 134% tariff markup for US customers ?

      • Down to 30% after a deal made last night.

Also the fall in sales in China from top 1 to top 5.

Apple's in-app extra charge profit margin is 30% which is 3x Colesworths' and 2x Bunnings'. They got fined in EU and are now in court in US.

    • Gawd, taki makes it into every Apple thread. What a pitiful existence.

Never buying 1999 tech 60Hz display in 2025.
Sorry, that's my way of saying "you can do Better"

    • +1

If you want 1999 tech I think you can still buy a Nokia 3210

    • +1

The Razer Phone was probably the first phone with a high refresh rate screen. It came out in 2017.

      • The first 60Hz monitor as we know it, meaning a monitor designed with a refresh rate of 60Hz, likely existed before 1950 when television technology became widespread. 60Hz refresh rate became a standard for CRT monitors and early LCD monitors.

  • +4

IMHO, $1,098 (with OW price match) still doesn’t justify a 128gb phone with 60hz display. Some will definitely still buy but not good value for money.

    • if the condition is I have to get an iphone, would then this deal be a good deal is the question.

      • Thats a different perspective then. If you “have to get an iphone” then deal or no deal doesn’t matter. Just get it 😅

  • +4

Just got officeworks to pricebeat for me over the phone. Came down to $1092.50 delivered tomorrow.

    • Do you pay deposit on phone to reserve the prices

      • +2

You pay the full amount over the phone. You need to enter in your credit card number.

  • Save more with 10% off via GC at officeworks

    • they wont take gc over the phone

      • +1

Price match at store and pay using 10% off GC

  • Iphone 17 is on the way. Looks like much better than 16.

    • +4

      iphone 18 will be better

      • +3

And it will be an adult!

      • +1

Why not wait for 19 for future proofing 😬

    • +1

There hasnt been a "much better" yearly iphone for about 10 years

      • +1

The iPhone X came out in 2017 and was much better than the 8. The 12 came out 4 years ago was much better than the 11. Since then there's been mostly incremental improvements.

    • Air will be thinner

  • What avenues are available for Gift cards through officeworks? Can you only price match over the phone? Can you not use the gift cards over the phone? can you even get the gift cards currently?

    • You can use certain ultimate gift cards in officeworks.
You can price match over the phone or in person. However if you price match over the phone you cannot use gift cards. Only in person.

    • Coles offer is running currently, but not for variable load so you'd need to buy lots to make this work - max 5 per transaction though, so I think the effort is not worth the additional 10%.

1282.49 price beat done with OW for IP16 256GB. Thanks OP

  • +1

Got an iPhone 16 Plus 256GB Ultramarine from Officeworks for $1453.49 after price beat against Costco. The OW sales person on the call was very nice. Thanks guys!

  • Kicking myself for missing the JB deal earlier. Damn!

  • Thanks OP, just copped one at OW. I was gonna pick up a 16e for the missus but for an extra 100, this is way better value.

    • +1

16e at Costco is 949, so if you pm with OW, it comes down to $901, which is $200 difference when you buy 16 for $1098.

      • +1

Damn, didn’t see that, oh well. Already purchased and she’s happy. The 16e only looked decent at the time compared to the 16 because the gap was 400, but at 200 not so much.

        • +2

I think you made the right choice - for $200 she'll get much more out of the device in the long run.

  • nice one OP, copped :)

  • OW have now dropped their price to $1149

  • iphone 16 256GB at officeworks after price match is $1282
using 10% off gift card from coles to pay , end up $1153.8 out of pocket for iPhone 16 256GB
that's discounted iphone 16e price (costco) for an iPhone 16
don't need one but got one ….too bad I'm not planning going overseas within 60 days otherwise ….$1037

    • is the 10% gift cards offer live?

  • +1

1139 at Costco now. So can price beat at officeworks

  • This is $10 cheaper than the week before deal, which is not marked as expired yet.

They do this so people can price beat at OW again? and post again? lol
