mitsubishi do the same thing
i get they want to lock you into servicing with them for a decade HOWEVER they both publish fixed priced servicing tables so you can see what you're in for over 10yrs
for budgeting and espeically business financing this makes all the difference
They will increase the fixed pricing every year, it will not be fixed. And give you a new fixed increase price. I owned Nissan and serviced at Nissan dealerships when they said fixed it only fixed for sometimes NOT for 10 years. It is NOT a contract agreement they just saying fixed unless they put in writing then that is different story. So be careful with what they say fixed price service.
Not sure with others but when I bought my Outlander PHEV, they did include the Fixed Price Schedule as part of the separate Terms and Condition and they explained to me these are the cost of servicing for the next 10 years or 150k.
-1 wtf?
he's never heard of an indepedent mechanic
indepedent mechanic
I've never heard of them either to be fair.
The whole point of it is so that people get their servicing done at Nissan dealers and not their competition.
Why would their competition want people to get services at nissan dealers?
What are you talking about?
The deal is from Nissan. The services are at Nissan. Nissan's competition is nowhere in this deal.
Good chance Nissan won't be around in 10 years
Like every other non Chinese brand?
tbf not every chinese brand will be here either
the market just isnt big enough and not all their cars are good enough
There is a new brand every few months almost, I follow car stuff here and there and someone mentioned Zeekr and I was like what the hell is that.
The market is going to get flooded, holding off on replacing my car.
@ldd-mn: stupid ass name but i think they have some innovative cars
it'll be a cold day in hell when my neighbour goes… "check out that Zeekr!"
@ldd-mn: Says they launched last year in Australia and 180 total sold as of last month. I guess a year is long time in Chinese brands.
@Kommodore: Current product is a "same as everyone else". With a bit of luck they'll launch the 7GT wagon here. I'll be first in line if the expected pricing holds out
@Kommodore: Wait till the Xiaomi cars start showing up. So you will be able to sync your car with your robot vacuum and automatic blind shutters all on the same app.
@Kiato: "Just popping down to the shops for some food. Back soon"

with Trump breathing fire it is possible there won’t be any competitiveness left in Chinese industries, they will be out of action for a decade atleast once Trump leaves.
BYD will be one that stays
They had a 0% interest offer late last year
they still have zero interest from the buyers
😂😂
Comment of the year
they still have zero interest from the buyers
Nissan sold 45,284 vehicles last year up 15% from the previous year.
Where does one find pricing of the models without requesting a quote
Car sales 🙂
Just click on the homepage and click on vehicles. All the prices and models are listed there.
it isnt bad if you got a bit of existing debt
Nissan CVT is a ticking timebomb around 10 years. May the odds be in your favour.
Yep, agreed with this comment 100%, if you are looking for long run then better skip Nissan. Just google Nissan CVT it is known issue. Australia Nissan ignore and reject warranty. In US, customers class action won but not Australia.
Direct from Nissan dealership service centre.
Additional Work Summary
CVT transmission
Whining noise noted from transmission, found CVT transmission shudder on road test, transmission fluid worn & containing metallic particles. Requires CVT transmission replacing.
(Recommended)Total (inc GST) $16,600.00
looking at their shit it seems like the only car worth looking at is the navara and there's already plenty of 4x4 diesels to choose from
i know it isnt on this deal but the Patrol is decent if you like camping
dont they have a 5.6 v8? they are decent if you like your local servo
if i could afford a $100k suv i'd just camp out at the 5 star
I want a manual warrior but they're hard to find.
Too bad they discontinued their best car (the Altima V6).
these shat cvts before 60,000km
they do excellent one legg peelers up until then though
No other car gives you that Big Altima Energy
The CVT will sht itself so you will need every minute of the 10 year warranty .
Mate is already selling his Toyota and cancelling the Toyota finance lol
Genuine question - What the issue with Nissan CVT autos?
I have a 2013 Nissan Dualis that I purchased new with a CVT and it’s done well over 100k and the transmission is fine.
Thanks for reminding me , wifey’s cvt died, not covered by warranty for some reason, but replaced under good faith but took months, had to buy a new car anyway, so tempting but will avoid
have a talk with your local auto transmission repair place and ask them
Me too. Exact same car and kms. This car has prompted me to stay with Nissan. Not sure why all the hate. I've been very happy with it.
My 2013 Xtrail CVT just gave up two days ago without any warning. They’re very expensive to replace too
It generally comes back to them be sold as a "sealed for life" kind of deal but that couldn't be further from the truth, essentially they end up cooking themselves to death from the oil going bad.
Because of the way these transmissions work (it's a large chain/s that are constantly sliding between two cones effectively), the shearing action created by the chain just degrades the oils lubricating ability very rapidly whichs lends to the oil and CVT to start heating up more and more until they eventually fail.
These transmissions need to be serviced at least every 50,000Km if not 30,000Km just to try and prolong them.Honda have their CVTs down for a service every 40k and they seem to hold up much better. Even then the oil comes out smelling rather bad.
I mean most people aren't going to have any transmission problems, it's just that a significant % do. It's not worth buying into such an unreliable product with iffy resale value and terrible long term ownership prospects - especially when Nissan itself is withering away and there so many reliable cars to pick from.
My mates Xtrail's CVT broke just after the warranty..he fought hard to get Nissan to repair it. Which they eventually did after heaps of dramas.
Change the gear juice and all will be fine.
CVT was died in 2021 after 139000km and it was 2012 TI model.
Have a 2012 Dualis ST model approaching 135K. Please pray for me. What were the signs when it died? Did it just stop working out of the blue or were there any early indicators.
I had a 2012 dualis. 300,000kms. Never 1 issue
Nice. That gives some reassurance.
I had Nissan Almera with renault CVT in that. While driving you can feel that transmission geting hard to charge the gears automatically and you can hear the noise but suddenly after a week it stopped on the red light.
Hmm thanks.
Thankfully have not noticed that. Infact mostly I can't even feel the transmission shifting, it's feels like it just speeds up the more I press the accelerator without feeling any shifting. Guessing that's because it's a CVT.@bigbadboogieman: The dualis is too heavy for the engine. Especially if
You have the +2 model like I did.But it was a great car for a long time. I also used 98 in it because I felt like it struggled in the summer months with the a/c on to get going. So for $10~ extra a tank it was worth it for me. + the 300,000 kms I got out of it may have been a factor in why it lasted so long. (Ps. It’s Still going)
Change the oil in it as soon as possible if you haven't had it serviced recently and keep getting the oil changed at least every 30k there after and just keep your fingers crossed 🤞
The X-Trail Epower is really great!! Get over 1000km with a single tank just in suburban area!!
Nissan servicing is a scam, would not recommand.
Didn't Holden do this before, well, yeah….
Nissan won't be missed either.
Is Nissan still a thing? Old days people drove Nissan for a taxi and transportation in some countries.
Meh.. It's Nissan.. Unless it's Skyline GTR
I still love my 350z
Look at their service fees, and you’d be out. Otherwise, you can also get a brand new MY2024 far cheaper if you sort out finance yourself. Plenty in stock
Waste of money.
Nah … Bad experience with nissan brand and dealers with my previous pathfinder cvt and stalling,
If you look at the new Pathfinder price is on rediculous price and the interior so standard . Like still stuck in 2010
No wonder Japanese cars phasing out.
In saying that Hyundai pretty shit too upgraded. Too many mechanism failure. Cheaply made may look good .
Got sucked in
Genuine question!! Was looking for a new 7 seater in the range of 45-50k!!
I was interested in outlander, xtrail and crv. Kluger is out of my budget.
My auto mechanic said to avoid mitsubhishi and nissan due to transmission issues. Is this the same as CVT? He said to buy kluger but its toobover budget.
Can anyone comment on honda cr-v?
I had a look at cherry and mahindra but was unsure due to it being new and not enough long term data.Any suggestions is appreciated!!
Gwm tank 500 ?
I have the LDV D90
Second generation is pretty good value for money and it's a proper 4wd
It was either that or a clapped out second hand prado. Still happy with my choice
Thanks will look into the LDV D90. It was not on my radar earlier but now I know will try to go for a test drive
Datsun?
Carlos Ghosn is driving a BMW these days. That speaks everything you need to know about nissan
Bought a Nissan Navara 5 years ago. My local Nissan dealership's customer service has been fairly woeful over the past few years so I couldn't recommend them
With the Plethora of Chinese vehicles and Nissan's woeful reliability rating with their cvts you'd have to be mad to take this up
A lot of Nissan drivers do seem a bit unhinged with how they drive. Let’s be real, if you bought a Nissan, chances are you didn’t do your homework and probably aren’t the sharpest tool in the shed.
How about Nissan X-Trail? Is CVT a problem?
Agree with all the comments that the Nissan dealer service is shite. I went to a big name Nissan dealer in Sydney that’s starts with an “S” with a huge number of locations. Serviced for 5 years under fixed price servicing and extended dealer warranty.
A few years into the servicing they tried to do various shonky things like do a 2nd coolant change 6 months - after the previous scheduled change. When I turned up to collect the car they tried to charge an extra $150. I guess most of their customers don’t check these details and get taken for a ride. I called them out on it. Next, they broke the car aerial because they didn’t take it out during the complementary car wash - seriously! Took over 6 months to get it replaced as they said the aerial was “out of stock”
The final straw was when their apprentice mechanic didn’t connect the spark plug leads back properly. On the way home the engine started misfiring. They admitted what happened, I took it to another dealer to get it fixed.
After all that drama started going to a great mechanic in inner Sydney. Never looked back.
Please talk to your local mechanics to confirm if Nissan really a good car to own compared to other Jap brands . My mechanic said NO.
The CVT in R52 Pathfinders and T32 X-Trails killed Nissan's name - like Mitsubishi in the Outlander (identical gearbox).
So far the new gen stuff seems to be completely redesigned and so far so good.
Note how Dualis/J11 Qashqai CVT failures don't really exist.
Added to all this, "seal for life" CVT fluid - bullshit, change it every 60-80KMs.
Or get a E-Power so it has no gearbox at all.
For the love of god though, don't buy a Juke (Clio)…..
Weird boast about the 10 year 300k warranty when servicing with nissan
Why would their competition want people to get services at nissan dealers?
