[VIC, NSW] Switch to AGL Electricity Online, Staying for 150 Days & Get $200 Bill Credit @ AGL

200

$200 credit when you join AGL electricity online and stay for 150 days.
Credit offer for new and moving residential customers in NSW and VIC with selected plans.

It's always worthwhile checking underlying rates for your area / distributor. Generally the equivalent of $40 discount per month (paid after 5 months) outweighs more expensive rates - but make sure you check for your circumstances.

Can be stacked with other internet offers (e.g. NBN 100/20 for $65/month: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/907357)

Nice one. I signed up to the nbn 100/20 for $65, at the same time as signing up for this offer and the guy increased the sign up credit to $300.

    • Logged into my Westpac account and can't see the offer 😢

150 days is a frack-tonne of brand loyalty for energy slutters like me getting reamed by power companies. Pass.

    • How often do you change suppliers?

      • +7

        Every 2-3 months

        • Out of interest, have you ever had a provider you've churned back to refuse to pay the discount within 12 months?

          • +3

@financialminimalism: Haven't tried to churn back within 12 months, I used red energy, AGL, Geobird, Energy Australia, Engine, PowerShop.

@financialminimalism: No, I switched to AGL three times last year and received sign-up credits each time. It seems they're stricter about that now.

  • I was able to get extra $50 for gas by calling them.

Yep, I got $200 elec and $100 for nbn. Deals are to be had by speaking with their team. The Netflix plan for me wasn't bad either, yes you pay a higher daily charge, for me it worked out to be $1.80 per month for the $7.99 Netflix plan - so worth it.

      • I must be hopeless, I've tried on the phone and they just say do it online as it's cheaper than what they can give on the phone.

  • Is the EV Night Saver plan eligible to receive the $250 credit?

    • Yes.

      • -1

        were does it say this?

        • I called up AGL - they said the EV plan isn't eligible for the $200 switching promotion.

        • I chatted with them and confirmed before switching. Took a screenshot:

You will get a $200 for Electricity / $50 for Gas one-off credit. You must remain with AGL at the same address for 150 days from when your electricity/gas has switched to AGL to receive this credit. This credit is not transferable or refundable. AGL may exclude accounts from receiving more than one upfront credit per fuel in any 12-month period.

          • @sridhar: You sign up on the normal plan and then switch post connect.

            • @m2pic: IC. I signed up to EV Night Saver by chatting with their rep. Perhaps that is what the rep did internally?

              • @sridhar: I called up and was told the EV Night Saver plan is NOT included in the $200 credit.

I signed up to AGL in May on the Solar plan, and have to wait til October to get the $200 credit. I asked what if I want to switch to the EV plan now - was told that if I do that now then I lose the $200 credit because the EV plan is not eligible.

Was told that I would need to wait til after October (to fulfil my 150 days) before switching to the EV plan if I want to receive the $200 credit.

Check your email, I left AGL few months ago to EA, and they sent me an email to switch back and get $225 for electricity plus $225 Gas, total $450 if I stay for 150 days.

    • how long were you with EA before they sent you the email to switch back?

      and did you switch back?

    • Wow this is the biggest credit compare to other, how did you do it? on their website AGL can only offer $200 for electricity and $50 for gas. Please share who you deal with, many thanks!

  • i swtiched from them 6 months ago. Would I still be able to get this deal?

    • can't see why not. you are going back to them as a new customer technically

  • Just chated with agl and said ill be moving to another provider. They offered me $225 credit on electricity and gas on the spot. So no need to churn next qtr.

    • damn. was it $225 credit after staying with them for x days? or instant credit?

90 days but meter reads are done on day 91 to 94 so i should be ok and it should apply on next bill.

    • which team did you ask to speak to? thanks

      • Just the general chat in the app

  • I'm seeing $100 for electricity and $100 for gas, and it's 90 days stay instead of 150 days. Anyone else in the same boat?

Used up all Powershop credits so looking to churn.

    • try this welcome back offer link, $150 for elec and gas

      • Thanks, but I've signed up to Lumo as they had $150 CB on Cashrewards!

  • For anyone still with AGL (you probably are if you joined under this offer), like me you might have received notice of an increase in gas prices effective 1 August 2025.

Don't forget that you can go into the AGL account portal to see what other rates are available to you. I had a look and found that there was a tariff between my old rate and new rate.

Do nothing and you'll pay the higher new rate. Do something and you might marginally decrease your rates.

I had a look at the terms and conditions, and my view is that this tariff change doesn't preclude me from the '50 Days & Get $200 Bill Credit' offer.

I hope the above helps someone.
