Xbox Series S 512GB Console $349.00 Delivered @ Telstra (Telstra ID Required)

1580

Not much to explain except this is the cheapest I could find from a reputable seller and shows in stock.

Matches the ATL from six months ago and the deal was very popular last time but didn't include free shipping from JB.

People with Telstra ID and points may be able to use these as well but I didn't have an existing ID so couldn't use any. Enjoy!

Bring back XBMC!!, this would make an excellent media centre server.

    • +8

      It evolved into Kodi

      • +8

Which is available in the Microsoft store, so it's easier than it ever was to install.

        • True, but with limited functionality. Could never get it to properly passthrough audio and dolby vision.

Though its 120fps support is much better than Android version.

      • +1

yeah, but now it's made for Android and is fairly buggy on xbox and quite a few of the add-ons don't work.

      • 💯

    • -2

Agree entirely, XBMC was amazing for the time, imagine what could be done with this sort of hardware

      • -2

Kodi is XBMC. It already is on Xbox. No one needs to imagine. Spoiler: it’s not great on Xbox and you’re better off with a FireTV.

      • -1

Getting a neg for saying I liked XBMC 😂
Must triggering some childhhood trauma for somebody. I just wanna say "its not your fault".

    • +1

You must love under a rock

      • +4

well to be honest, when I'm with The Rock, he does let me climb on top sometimes But I really don't have a lot of say where I go or gow, he's the boss

      • Rocks, beds, sofas, anywhere really

  • +14

Pick these up pretty cheap ($175-$200) on marketplace etc these days

    • +12

Not bad for what will (most likely) be the cheapest way to play GTA 6 IMO.

    • +6

Been able to for ages. Got mine for $200 from a pawn shop 2, maybe 3 years ago. Great value with Games Pass. Got it on an older 40" 1080p TV in the study and it runs great.

      • -2

Game pass value isn't that great anymore, but that's because the Xbox AAA scene had been slow for the last few years, so alot of expensive games get discounted quite frequently. Not $10 cheap like physical copies, but much cheaper than spending 70 hours on game pass to get equivalent value.

Fortunately, Xbox store price is the same across the PC one, and steam keeps Xbox prices honest.

        • +4

I still find it great value honestly.

        • +6

Since CoD dropped last October, I think there's been a steady release of quality games.

Indiana Jones, Expedition 33 and Doom are my top 3 in the last 6 months.

        • If you use Bing search, you can get Microsoft Reward Points to redeem and get the Game Pass for free.

          • +2

@Coolkid21: How's the return on those? I've exchanged so much points over the years but I've stopped when they made changes for it taking longer and longer to max out points.

          • @Coolkid21: IF you spend a lot of real money for the points, if you just sit there doing the free shit daily it takes a long time. You'll get 1 free month every 3 months or so just doing the basic free stuff.

Still easier to get on Eneba and buy 6 months or 12 months of Live (whatever is best value at the time) and just convert it to Gamepass. I'm always paid ahead 3 years that way and costs very little compared to the full prices of Gamepass Ultimate.

            • @Darkness666: Am I mistaken?
On average it's 270 points daily with Xbox Core being 6800, it's 25 days for 1 month.
The PC Core Pass is 7750 so 29 days for 1 month.
And then if you save enough, there's a bit of discount for 3 months. And there are further ~10 point bonuses for playing the games daily and using the Xbox App.

Is this not a good deal for ozbargain? ~45 minutes daily?

      • +1

Sounds like my kind of study.

    • +1

Yeah I managed to get one near launch back in late 2020 early 2021 for $150. Used it a lot for a few months during various Xbox gamepass trials but haven't even turned it on in over 3 years.

    Tesla Telstra ID required

    Imagine lol

    • +2

I worked at Telstra when gaming was first introduced, and had a mate who was a massive Xbox fan on the team that brokered the deal. They did these as 24 month contracts (so it makes sense you are required to have a Telstra account) where you got EA Play + Xbox Game Pass and a console as one price. The idea was sound but not sure how successful it was as I left the company 2 or so years ago.

      • I did that because at the time it was the only way to secure a Series X and I would have bought gamepass anyway.

Jokes on Telstra though, because after I finished paying it off I cancelled my contract and they kept paying for my gamepass for another two years.

        • +2

My story was even dumber. I placed the order through the app, and noticed after the order went through that it had auto-applied an address i hadn't lived at for about 4 years to the delivery. Something to do with the way the ordering system matched the booking (was dumb and complex).

I got it corrected, but it sent two Xbox Series X to me - one to my current place, one to the post office near my old place. I didn't think anything of it, so never picked up the second one.

Product was sent back as not received, order was "cancelled" because both had the same order reference. Called support, they had no record of the Xbox i was using and had no way of solving it…

  • This was the price I got it for a few months after launch.

I'll just get it second hand at this point. They're usually dirt cheap.

  • If I have a PS5 and a Xbox One S and a switch. Do I need this?

    • +11

      idk, maybe. probably not

    • +5

need, no, but it if most of your Xbox gaming is digital and you maintain Game Pass then the upgrade from the One S will be noticeable. However, with a PS5 not likely much benefit I would suggest.

    • You won't be able to play a bunch of games on the Xbox One S, including things like GTA6 so is well worth it, things like quick resume and the SSD are worth the upgrade

    • +4

Do you have game pass?xss makes more sense when you have game pass and mostly play on 1080/1440p monitor.

    • +3

      No.

The series S is a huge upgrade over the one S, and I mean that in usability. I played far more games on the S than any older consoles.

Issue is that, you already have ps5, so why bother? If you do, just get a second hand one for like, $150 or something.

    • +1

      I wudnt get this unless
      1) have game pass

      Or

      2) do other stuff with it such as run emulators on dev mode (no need for jailbreak)

    • Yeah, just get rid of the One S.

    • Definitely

    • +1

Not since you have the PS5.

  • I use my nephew's one from time to time. It's surprisingly good given how people keep complaining that it's underpowered. I'd probably pick one up used given the age of the thing but I'd rather a disk unit to use with my old 360 titles.

  • +6

    The little console that could

  • +13

One of the best use case for this is to enable Developer mode for an Emulation Galore

    • +1

Even better now that they've made it free to do so.

  • -1

Lol 1480 points is worth $3.69 off

  • At least this is an option, XSX is pretty expensive. I'd still get the XSX though.

    • +2

      Spoken like a true Austrian.

  • -3

If you have Game Pass Ultimate, a Fire TV + an Xbox Controller is a better option than this.

    • +1

FYI Xbox cloud gaming doesn't support local multiplayer!

      • +1

        Your pets game with you???

        • Yup

      • What games on Xbox even have local multiplayer anymore? They don't even allow Halo to do splitscreen.

        • Injustice 2 & Just Dance are quite popular in family!

  • +2

Telstra has been coming in with the goods lately, respect 👊

    • And I haven't managed to capitalize it yet!!

    • +7

Respect and Telstra in the same sentence. Never thought I'd see that.

    • +1

I suspect it's to keep you in the Telstra ecosystem. When your phone handset repayments are done after 24 months you might change to a cheaper provider, except you're in the middle of your Xbox and Switch 2 repayments so you can't. It's still nice to give you interest free repayments on consoles though.

  • These always run smoothly and priced at $350-400 is solid for most people

  • -2

Does the ps5 disk drive add on work with this?

    • +3

It should. I managed to get the Switch 2 joycons working on it.

      • +1

Neat, I’ve also got the 8bitdo universal adapter to use my ps4 controller on the switch - works a treat!

  • What's the cheapest way to get a Telstra ID? $2 prepaid SIM?

    • When I posted the deal, I did not mark Telstra ID as a requirement as it really isn't. This was added by one of the mods later. I did not have an active Telstra ID or a Telstra number and I still was able to buy it after going through the prompts in the checkout process. Try it if you really want it.

  • Good deal and would love to upgrade our old One S but we use the drive to play discs so digital just doesnt cut it for us.

  • Is this a 4k Blu Ray player?
Edit just realised this is digital only. I'll stick to my One S

  • +1

Save $0.04 by committing to a 12 or 24 month payment plan!

  • -1

I have 32k unused points but no passport or drivers license to sign up even though I'm with bigpond. Would have come to $268.xx. Maybe it's for the better as there's no 4K drive. I'll stick with my One S as well.

  • +1

512gb is painstakingly small considering there's around 370-400gbs of free storage space. I'm guessing you can fit roughly 4 games on here max depending on the game.

Personally I wouldn't bother, you need the 1tb at bare minimum.

Good price though I've you only play a couple games, SSD load times are great, and there's a few decent f2p games

    • +1

Yep and their first party proprietary expansion cards cost the same as another series s lol

      • That's the reason to go for the 1tb.at bare minimum.

When expansion card drops to $60 it would be worth buying. Maybe in another 20 years lol if we're lucky

    • -2

Do you really think the average gamer is playing more than four games at a time anyway?

I think the storage capacity is sufficient for what you're paying.

      • +3

        that's not the point,

not having the option to have extra storage via an m.2 or an external m.2 ssd to meet its pcie 4.0 speeds or whatever sucks.

ans say if u constantly uninstall and reinstall games it's not good for the drive plus that takes up a lot of time.

and internet downloads n uploads etc. nbn100 still pretty slow and I can't wait for the nbn upgrades in September hope they don't delay it again but still.

i wish it had a disc drive so i can buy xbox one discs to play and take advantage of that backwards compatibility as the series s is my first ever system.

        • You just plan ahead and download overnight. Or use the remote connection feature to uninstall and download games via the Xbox mobile app.

      • I said "IF". 🤦

        • You actually said "I've".

    • -2

Ps5 pro is more than 3 times the price

      • +2

They’re not talking about the Pro, read their comment again.

Edit: Voted down for correcting someone’s error. This place 🤦

    • +1

  • -3

    useable storage be like 384gb

discless makes it a useless brick.

i regret partiality spending $300 for one cause i literally don't use it.

  • +1

Not worth it imo, storage is expensive and the experience is subpar for the generation. MS made a bad decision with a two tier approach.

  • Was thinking about buying one for the playing Sonic Unleashed at 60fps, but since the recomp came out, I decided to just buy the game instead.

  • The 512GB for $350 seems like a much better steal than the 1TB at $500, but having to buy the proprietary storage when you run out of space, is the 1TB still the better choice? I have about 40k points to knock another $100 off

  • -7

Not a good value at all.
PS5 digital pros over shitbox :
    - Double the storage space
    - Far more graphical prowess
    - Superior controller in every way
    - Way better games
    - Future proof, meanwhile tax evasion/ monopoly of theft/ bribe tossers satanic$oft is exiting the hardware business and focusing on subscriptions
For an extra $200 it a no brainer! This uselessbox is a joke!!
And do the right thing for once in your pathetic sheepel life to boycott corrupt m$

    • -1

      sad

      • -4

Yeah I know, pity all those brainwashed xboT kids lame life.
How you kids live like this? So sad indeed

    • I agree, but why make the same comment twice?

      • Free time from not having any games to play probably.

  • Missing the days you buy a Xbox one S for $200, and telstra gave you 2 years of Game Pass Ultimate for free.

    • That's where I got my free gpu for 2 years

  • -1

How is this thing still above the $200???!!!
