              I paid $405 Oct 2022, then price protected for $350 JB pricing error.

              Not everyone has an ABN and business account but at $385 I'd get new (or get momentum 4 for $100 less.

    Well it is now the superseded model, and arguably no better (probably worse) than the XM4 it replaced. These things probably cost a cool fiddy bucks to produce anyway.

      The XM5 is about 15% better than the XM4, look at the reviews. So it's not worth people usually upgrading unless they got for a great deal and sold lightly used XM4. Of course people that own XM4 and XM3 will say they are the best.

      The XM6 are meant to be pretty good but obviously not worth paying the high price for anything as soon as it is released.

      I wouldn't say it's worse, but it does make a few changes from the XM4 that some people didn't like.

      1. Does not fold anymore
      2. The automatic ANC thing
      3. Hinge mechanism is allegedly a bit prone to failure

      It did make a few improvements in other areas though.

      1. Switched the feedforward and feedback microphones to a somewhat more reliable and easier to replace design. (These were prone to fail on the XM4 depending on the storage/usage environment)
      2. I think these have LC3 support
      3. Number is biggerer.

      I believe they iterated on and reinforced the hinge (and they fold again) in the XM6, but the current RRP is an absolute scam.

        Depends what form factor U like, people say 4s are better if you have 4s. The XM5 sound a more natural, microphones work better for calls, they are lighter and more comfortable. Probably only 15% better. The XM4 people couldn't even hear me on phone calls so if you're using that it's a lot better.

        They fold flat instead of in a ball, just use the case they comes with it. I reckon people that like 4s throw them around and in bag without the case, I'll admit they seem more durable.

        Probably by claiming the XM3 are faulty. Sony are known to discount a new product instead of repairing or replacing the original if it has a fault. It’s a genius move for Sony, rather than attempt to comply with Australian Consumer Law and consumer guarantees, they simply offer a token discount.     I would not bother with the XM5s, they have a problem with the hinge breaking/snapping. You are much better off with an XM3/XM4 of the previous design or the newest XM6 that has a redesigned hinge.

    Not worth getting a XM5 that will break whenever.

      Depends if you look after your stuff in general or just throw them in your bag loose. Use the case that comes with them, never had an issue. I prefer the comfort and weight vs XM4, and they are two models old now.

      XM5 mic and noise isolation is much better than the XM4s. Use mine all the time in busy offices for work calls.

      I think the only thing people have complained about is me talking too loud as you're wearing noise cancelling headphones so can't hear your own voice as you would normally or using open backs.

      Can't recommend them enough for work.
