  • thats awkward - its already sold out - must have gotten a pretty big popularity lately

  • its on backorder

    • yup :S
the email I got at 1:30ish said there were 50 or so available

  • +1

Be very careful with hobbyking, they are liars, and they ripped me off. I will never deal with them.

  • +3

It seems that HobbyKing gets mixed reviews here. I've personally never had a problem with them. I bought four of these last year which brought them down to under $20 each inc postage and they all arrived within a couple of weeks so absolutely no complaints from me however I can understand why others would be upset if they didn't get theirs or even an explanation or whatever.

Luck of the draw I guess.

  • +2

My first negative vote! Was bound to happen sooner or later. BUYER BEWARE!

  • Out of stock but the popup still let me order.. did it anyway, don't mind waiting a few weeks.

    • -3

Lots of luck with 'a few weeks', I have been waiting for mine since November 2012!!!!! This has been on BACK ORDER for months. So really it is fraudulent to advertise here without stock.

      • +1

How is someone posting a bargain fraudulent advertising ?

        • -2

If you do not have stock then it is fraud as you have an expectation of purchasing and receiving the goods in a reasonable time frame. As they do not have stock and have not had stock for several months = fraud trading. They have your money and you have NOTHING!!!!!

      • It's a PRE-ORDER. The nature of a pre-order means you wait until it's available. If the seller does not say how long you can expect to wait, and receiving the item in a timely manner is important in this particular transaction, then it's your duty to ask them. Otherwise they are well and truly entitled to take your money and wait for stock to arrive (which you have given them permission to do in making the pre-order). If it's been two or three months and you're not happy, message them and get your money back. If you still want the item because it's a good price (which it is) then send them a polite email reminding them of your order and ask if they have any further information.

And also they aren't advertising here - it's just a post by an Ozbargain user.

Whichever way you look at it, it's patently not fraud.

Thank you for your advice. Actually it is a BACK ORDER and NOT a 'PRE ORDER' as you have tried to state, see their web pages. and it has been so for several months.

I have actually spoken to them and they say it is a computer glitch. Yeh right. I don't think anything is a bargain if it is not readily available.

There is NOTHING to say that this is a pre oreder so it should not have been posted. By the way have you purchased one?? Or are you just the type of person who likes to stick his nose in to every posting, I see you have been very active with your opinions. What I would like to know is do you personally have experience with THIS company or not.

We are both entitled to our opinions but I thought others may like to hear of one person's REAL experience with this company. You obviously have a different opinion, that's fine. BUT don't neg ME because of it, okay. I believe it to be fraud and you do not, fine.

          1. If you simply substitute the word "BACK" for all the instances of the prefix "PRE" in my comment it's still the same deal, Reddog. Actually - it's a little different. A pre-order normally has a release date, whereas a back-order means they are out of stock and will fulfill their orders when it comes in - there is commonly not a re-supply date with back-orders. The nature of a back-order is you'll get it when you get it. They can't send you one if they don't have it.

          2. I re-iterate: if you don't want to wait, contact them to cancel your order and get a refund. If they refuse to do this, then you have a right to complain. If you didn't want to wait for the kit at this excellent price, you would have done this already.

          3. Yes I have purchased one - in October last year.

          4. My experience was that it arrived very quickly.

          5. It's not about believing whether it's fraud or not. It is objectively not fraud.

  • Bugger I clicked the popup to get the back order went to pay tried to log in and lost my cart :(
Should have paid by paypal… you cant back order just adding it to the cart.

    • Bought one anyway (used IE instead and the popup appeared hehe) but postage was a lot :0

Bought few months back n received within 3-4days.
Used once and im super happy with it! Feels solid good build n works great!!

    • Yeah, they're pretty good irons although the tip is a bit too sharp to be used across lots of different work. I'm yet to buy some generic replacements in different sizes to see how they perform but the standard one is good enough for now. Rapid heatup and feels just as good as my 15 year old genuine Hakko that cost well over $300 back in the day.

  • on back order for mine as well, i can wait, in no rush for it…

  • +1

This has been on back order for months. I would like to know from the vendor when I will receive my order from November 2012???? Thanks

    • +3

Not sure the vendor is present to hear your complaint.

      • -1

Why not most other vendors are interested in their reputation, if they are in fact reputable ……

        • +1

because this deal wasnt posted by a rep, nor are they probably even aware of this thread post, nor have they even posted a comment in this thread…

what even makes you think they would be watching this thread?

    • +1

Have you contacted them? It's unlikely they have time to check every comment made on every forum on the net.

    • i ordered mine after that and got it in about a week, pretty unlucky for you…

    • What is your point?? It shows -13 units i.e. on back order has been for months.

      • I ordered one of these a month or so ago and received it ok. My last order for some AA batts stalled as they didn't receive the Paypal notification of payment. Online chat with their customer service staff fixed that very quickly.

You remind me of the Whirlpool loosers who complain on the forums about their ISP without contacting them first.

        Contact them.

        • If you had read my earlier post I actually said I had contacted them, thanks. Very poor response.

And by the way my comment on which you made yours, was a statement of fact, i.e. the back order is 13 units, i.e. out of stock and has been so for months.

  • +2

I got one of these in the last batch… Good piece of kit for the price.

  • is this HANKO knock off? looks the same including the number "936"
    HANKO 936

    • Yeah - it's a Hakko clone.

Not the same quality of course but fine for hobbyist use.
