Plant based 🙄. People, Don't pay extra for plastic products with such marketing. Almost all plastics are made from plant compounds these days, unless it specifically states biodegradable

      • Ah yeah, I didn't look properly and thought it was biodegradable.

No prob with mobileciti (many of the phone deals have come from them)
That Amazon link is sold and shipped by them anyway, about the same price once you add delivery (and can get Express for pretty much same price) but can pickup in store if you are in NSW.

    • +2

Unless someone needs it, I probably wouldn't buy the cable, was $19 at Mwave not too long ago

    • In case anyone is wondering why Beyerdynamic make an (expensive) USB-C cable, here is what it actually is:
      · USB-C to 3-pin mini XLR (lockable)
      · Direct connection between headphones and compatible USB-C devices
      · Professional audio quality due to high-end DAC
      · Including remote control and integrated condenser microphone
      · Splash-proof (IP65 certification)

Price and specs much too good to pass up in the current laptop market, so upgrading my 2080 laptop

    • +1

      Little bit expensive?

      • Unfortunately it is the case with laptops in the gaming segment.

Cheapest non refurb with this spec has been 3,000 at a quick look.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/874368

Without the code it's a bit less of a deal but prices have only gone up as well with the 50 series too for not much of a uplift in raw performance.

        https://technical.city/en/video/GeForce-RTX-4080-mobile-vs-G…

There aren't many deals out there for previous gen or current gen models if you want 80 series like performance or above at anything that isn't an astronomical price and a complete ripoff.

The 4090m mainly has extra vram and a slight uplift in Performance over the 4080m series so commands a massive premium because they can charge what they like.

    • 6 available, glad someone found it useful.

While the eofy code has expired this one works and also takes 10%off i.e still $2888.10

      NATION10

      • nice - not going to pull the trigger but I'd be tempted if there was a better eofy/discount code

        • I wouldn't be mad if it went down in price and others scored a better deal either.

I don't think this is likely in the current market but happy to be proven wrong.

      • Looks like it is now OOS.

    • This is gorgeous. Screen size, ports, and grunt all look excellent. I loved this review in PC-Welt:

The Omen 17 is clearly a desktop laptop. Weighing over six pounds, it can only be used on the move within your own four walls, especially as the power supply weighs just under another 2.8 pounds and the battery life is under three hours.

I still love it. Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing wrong with my current laptop so I can't justify the price, but I'll be keeping an eye on this one for the future.

The ProPilot X Calibre 400 follows in a long line of Oris pilot’s watches going back to the early 1900s, but its power lies beyond its associations: it’s a mechanical joy machine. • Worth getting? Or better handhelds out there?

      • There are so many second hands out there it kinda says something. I think it depends what you are looking for. It seems SteamDeck or Legion Go S + Steamdeck OS is better for grab and go gaming device.

        • what does "something" say? for a second generation PC handheld, Legion Go is still consistently being mentioned the most amongst others especially that official steamdeck support is out now.

          • @meong: It just means there are people who prefer something else over this. In comparison, there are less number of second hand SteamDeck. At least this is based on my recent research anyway. Also my understanding is that SteamDeck OS is officially supported for Legion Go S, not the OG Legion Go.. this is what SteamDeck website says.

            • @John: interesting, i thought when i saw the instructions on Steam's website on how to install SteamOS on Legion Go it means that its officially supported…

    • Very bad experience with Crapdragon, unstable, crashes. Battery life is not much better than AMD/Intel.

      • I thumbs up

      • Very good experience with Snapdragon. Perfectly stable, no crashes. Battery life absolutely kicks my HP Elite Dragonfly G3 with 12th gen Intel processor down the hill and into the next town. It also doesn't wake itself up in my bag and drain the battery, and it resumes instantly when the lid is opened.

      • Windows ARM say no more 🤮

    • Why this is a good deal. Please explain. The processor is not not strong and have compatibility issues

      • I've been using a Snapdragon laptop since mid last year and all the programs I use work perfectly fine. The battery life is excellent, it doesn't wake itself up in my bag and drain the battery, and it resumes instantly when I open the screen just like a phone.

What compatibility issues have you experienced?

        • I watched online youtube reviews. Were most negatives of snapdrag. 3.4ghz not sure how powerful this processor is. When i am using 7945 amd can go above 5.1ghz and fast

          • @Zeee:

            Were most negatives of snapdrag.

I think it's important to watch a variety of reviews from different levels of creators. Being a new platform, reviews that are negative brings in the clicks because it'd be seen as the 'cool thing' to dump on the new platform that everyone is praising. That means there will be a number of content creators who use clickbait titles or produce reviews that only focus on negatives to draw in clicks because they supposedly know something no one else is talking about.

It is also human nature to remember the negatives. If someone watches 5 reviews where 4 are good and 1 is bad, some people will mainly remember the 1 that is bad even if the review might be unbalanced.

Having used Intel laptops forever, I kept my Intel HP Elite Dragonfly G3 when I bought the Surface Laptop 7 last year just in case I have to run programs that don't run on the Surface. I never had to switch back; the HP has been sitting idle since.

If you run any unusual programs it'd be worth googling to see if anyone has any problems. I was pleasantly surprised when even Fusion 360 ran fine under emulation.
