obviously because you cant afford a PS4 for $899

      • +55

        PS4 = $899
        PS2 = PS4 / 2 = $899 / 2 = $449.5
        We are saving $449.5 here!!!
        Yeepee~~

        • +8

          Firm logic!

    • +6

I want it for Final Fantasy VII. And VIII. And IX. And Tactics. And IV. And…You get the idea.
I've got a lot of games from a while back I want to play.

      • -3

All PS3s have backward compatibility for PS1 discs.

        • +2

Actually, most PS3s now don't have support for PS2 games. The first models that came out supported PS2 and PSX. 2nd gen didn't support it. From then onwards they had software emulation of PS2 games (not perfect).

        • +10

          He said ps1 :o

        • +1

Yeah he said PS1, but it's worth mentioning the PS3 can technically play all PS2 games.
It took Sony ages to figure it out, but they successfully made an emulator for the console so we can play PS2 games. but of course you can only play the ones they select and put on the PS Store.
The other method is the HD remasters. Problem with this is unlike the emulated games, they need to have the original source code for the game, which not all devs have.

but yeah, if you mean "PS2 games" as in the actual retail discs, there's not much you can do.

    • Ask "theearth"

  • +2

I dont think they will honor it.

    • +2

      probably a price mistake

      • +25

Yeah, it's probably around 10 times the listed price… :(

        • +14

          10 times is still 0 though…

        • lol , your right

          ….. plus gst

      • we will see tomorrow morning what will happen,
I will update after a visit to the store

  • +1

cheaper than a paperweight priced paperweight?

  • +7

Broden and all his relatives will be lining up tomorrow to grab one

    Stay tuned on ebay !!

    • +2

      Just one?

      • If you try to calculate how many you can fit into budget, you'll get divide by zero error! =)

      • Just one?

        Each !!

  • +8

    Will officeworks pricematch?

    • +7

they'll even beat it by 5% and give you 5 cents in change !!

      • Don't try dividing by 0!

        • +3

          You're not dividing by 0, you're multiplying by 0.

          5% off 0 is quite trivially 0.

        • +7

Yeah but it's 5% off, so it's still far better to pricematch.

        • -1

Well, if you are dumb like me.

You have a figure say, 20, divide by 100 and then times by 5 to see the discount off in percentage. That is how I do the maths without a calculator, maybe there is a smarter way.

So if I was to divide 0 by 100 like I normally do… end of the world. Which is a known fact.

        • That is not a known fact and you are indeed dumb.

0 divided by 100 is quite trivially 0.

To dumb it down for you:

If I have 0 whoppers and share them equally between 100 people, how many whoppers will each person receive? The answer is obviously 0 and there's nothing profound about it.

        • What if I have 1 Whopper and I want to divide by 100, that is a lot of small pieces of a Whopper and nobody wants a 1/100th of a Whopper?

Since I just made a silly light hearted comment, maybe you should cheer up a little? Considering your profile name is that of a child's cartoon character you'd think you wouldn't take this so seriously.

        • Mathematics is serious. There's no two ways about it, you're either right or wrong.

        • McDuck,

Say you are at the shops, you see a lovely cardigan you want to buy yourself for $87 dollars but it has 7% off, how do we know the real price. In your head, so no calculator or using pen and paper, how do you take that 7% off?

I divide by 100, to give 0.87 then times by 7, which is 0.49 and 5.6 added together to give you $6.09 discount with a total price of $80.91.

If you have an better way to get percentage off in your head, please let me know since that is the way I've been doing it for years. I didn't think I was dumb for doing it that way.

        • You called yourself dumb 5 posts up.

And you're still entirely missing the first point I made. So I will attempt to infer your state of delusion and correct it for you:

          a) x/0 is commonly known to be undefined for all x.

          b) 0/x on the other hand equals 0 for all x except x=0.

Theorem b) applies to the statement of "So if I was to divide 0 by 100 like I normally do" but I believe you have been conflating a) with b).

To dumb it down: Yes, you can't divide by zero. But you can multiply zero by something or divide zero by something other than zero.

This is entirely beside the point but I will now show that your method for calculating discounts works in this case. In your own words:

Say you are at the shops, you see a lovely PS2 you want to buy yourself for $0 dollars but it has 5% off, how do we know the real price. In your head, so no calculator or using pen and paper, how do you take that 5% off?

I divide by 100, to give 0 (if you don't trust me do 0 / 100 on your calculator) then times by 5, which is 0 (and 0) added together to give you $0 discount with a total price of $0.

          Calculations:

          $0 / 100 = $0
          $0 x 5 = $0
          $0 - $0 = $0

        • -1

          nah, its actually 0.5.

        • -1

I can do the math, it isn't difficult, can you not be a jerk? I bet you'd find that harder.

          -Edit-

For whatever reason you want to be literal, I said: "Don't try dividing by 0!" That doesn't mean, the answer is given by dividing by 0, it means, don't try dividing by 0!

If you want to infer something by it, infer this: I wasn't being serious. Or did you actually have Jessica Rabbit as your first girlfriend?

      • +17

The lack of numeracy skills displayed here is appalling.

        • +2

          @Scrooge McDuck

Yeah, a duck is a duck, whether you're 5% off or way off does not matter zilch.

    • yes, 5% off too !!!!

    • +1

The likelihood of a black hole forming and devouring the universe when they attempt to reduce the price by a further 5% is relatively high.
Don't do it. It's not worth it!

      • That would definetly create a tear in the fabric of the universe

That would result in a parallel universe

        ….

        ..

        and a parallel ozbargain !!

        • +3

That would result in a parallel universe

it would be a universe of anti-particles, and anti-bargains… :O

        • A universe where iv doesn't make dad jokes.

        • Considering that this parallel universe would most likely (if comics are to be believed) would operate in the complete opposite of ours, then OzBargains would likely be labelled 'OzRipOffs'

        • +3

A universe where jv doesn't comment on every single deal.

        • Everything results in a parallel universe…

    • +2

      Hahahaha I love this site.

Love some bits in the 'Product overview':

Get ready for the next level of video gaming with Sony's PlayStation 2! This 128-bit, 32MEG RAM gaming machine will have you staring at your TV in amazement. This system has eye-popping graphics, blazing fast gameplay and silky smooth animations.

They got the "staring in amazement" bit right I guess!

    Interfaces: Optical Digital Output (1)
If you don't use digital output, your data will be converted to an analog signal and then be converted back to digital at the receiver.

So robots are able to hear it?

    Interfaces: USB Port (2)
USB enables you to connect any number of devices to your system with a high-speed data link.

Would "any" number be 2? (mouse/keyboard)

    Interfaces: I.Link (IEEE1394) (1)
You can expect that an enormous number of hardware devices will use this port including speakers, printers, and other like devices.

Could zero be classified as an enormous number at all?

Interfaces: Type III PCMCIA Card Slot.

Not sure there are many of those models around…

    • all these other games for 1-2 bucks !!

      ok, that settles it !!!

kids Xmas presents all sorted out now…

      • +8

        JV HAS KIDS? Oh my….

  • +23

I'm going to wait for it to get cheaper after the PS4 is released…

    • or when the $AU goes up again.

  • +41

I did some quick math and I found the following:

    1. No matter how many you buy, you still pay $0
    2. After adding GST, it is still $0
    3. If Officeworks price match, after 5% off, it is still $0
    4. On top of 3, pay with ING PayWave to get 5% rebate, it is still $0
    5. On top of 4, take it overseas within 30 days and claim 10% back from TRS, it is still $0
    6. You will not get divide by zero error whatsoever because 0 is at numerator not denominator
    7. No matter in which currency you pay, it is all the same - 0

Thank you EBGames, this is truly human equality

    • +10

      can't do TRS because $0 < $300

    • +3

You go and take your heathen magic elsewhere.

  • +3

    Obviously a mistake </partypooper>

    • Maybe more like no more stock? Not so obvious is it now..

    • +4

I went into EB games with intentions of purchasing singstar mics. I asked the guy if he sold any, he said he had some in the back and since they didn't pair with anything, he would give them to me for free. Got two wireless singstar mics for free.

So yes, EB games do give things for free.

      • +1

They would love to get rid of stuff clogging their storage space (but not popular enough to take up shelf space) :)

        • +1

Went in with $100, came out with $100 and Singstar mics. Didn't know how much they cost at the time so i was pretty happy the for rest of the day :P.

      • its a PS2, its worth 0 cents.

Will cost them to get rid of it, better off for them giving it away

  • +4

If I put two of these together, do I get a PS4?

    • +1

      Lets do the maths

      PS1 + PS2 = PS3
      PS2 + PS2 = PS4
      PS1 + PS3 = PS4
      PS2 + PS3 = PS5!!

        • well they are in fact like terms……..

      • wrong!
        IF PS1 + PS2 = PS3
        take PS3 to left side: PS1 + PS2 - PS3=0
        Take out common factor: PS(1+2-3)=0
        PS(0)=0
Thus the answer is as 'tg' said earlier … 0

        • +1

of course you're going to get an answer of 0 if you minus something from something that represents itself……..

  • +2

All of you folks may laugh, but I still have mine and it's still in excellent shape. (Up till six months ago, my son was still playing ratchet and clank and burnout on it!).
I have to have a huge power brick/transformer with mine though, because its 110v.

    • +1

I still have mine, but I wouldn't mind getting another one for free. So I can tell me all my imaginary friends that I got it for free :-).

      • +10

        you can tell us
        we are your friends

    • +4

Worth it alone for Crash Team Racing - arguably still the most entertaining racing game on the planet. Woompah! Comin' through!

  • Nearest store is 248.071km from me…road trip?

    • At roughly 9L/100km and 140c/L, it would cost about $62 there and back. Is it worth going now? Unless you take 4 friends :P

      • I would also be going on a road tip though…

  • I keep a ps2 for all my gta games and indigo prophecy

  • -6

    What's a ps2?

  • +2

Eb games site link down. :(

They are correcting it.. they are correcting it.. they are correcting it..

    • Do any one have screen shot so i can show eb games because online now showing for $59

      • I too would like a screen shot as well.

I remember seeing it last night that the $59 one that you are referring to is the PS2 Slim not the old Chunky one.

  • +2

WHERE IS BRODEN? Surely he is collecting them all and attempting to make a fortune on Ebay.

  • -8
