Looks like Kogan just had another price drop on this, at this price it won't last!
Be quick guys!

Credit goes to OzBargain user: tongyun for telling us about it :)

Update: Kogan has tweeted that this was not a price error, however this has since been quickly removed and it is unknown if orders will be honoured.

      • It's controlled supply and demand. Sell at maximum price for a while to make big margins from people willing to spend a premium, and then lower the price for the rest of the non pro-sumer demographic.

This is the biggest bargain ever!

  • +1

This is interesting, but I'm waiting for nexus 5..

  • +4

Pounced, should be a nice upgrade from my S1 !

    • 3 generation jump, indeed it will be a major upgrade.

  • It did say special offers in link. I added 2 years extended warranty for $45. still good value for under $500.

    • Yeah I did the same going the 3yr warranty for an extra $45.. However, this is my first experience buying from Kogan and I couldn't find anywhere what their warranty ACTUALLY covers. Plenty of information about warranty…??

Anyone know if the warranty is half decent?

      • +1

From my personal experience. I bought two s3 from kogan last year, one for me and one for my mum. both had issues, my phone kept on turning on and off after 8 months of use. I got in contact with them, after describing the issue in detail then trying to fix it by resetting. they emailed me a prepaid aus post voucher for the phone to be inspected by their technicians in port melbourne. after a month of any news, they sent me a replacement from hong kong.

As for my mums phone, the screen won't turn on a month after my phone's issue were resolved. same process, however after a week they ask me whether I knew about some deep scratches on bottom right of the screen. I didn't realise at the time as it was under the screen protector. they said these scratches caused the issue and that's not cover by warranty. They asked me for to pay $38 for postage to and for and even waived the inspection fees as good well or they won't send me the phone back. Which I did pay, but it's just paper weight now.

I think same will go for the three year warranty, they will cover factory deflects but don't count on them to cover the phone from abuse use.

        • thanks Sophie for sharing your experience - I didn't expect them to be anything special.

        • Is that you GOD? ;p

OK, I'm officially in trouble now
didn't bought the Mrs. a pack of Coca Powder from supermarket because it wasn't on sale (to my defense, she doesn't need coca powder to bake cakes ;))
Now she is demanding an explanation: ~$450 against $4.50 :P

    Ahem Ahem…

    • +3

      Off to the couch.

    • +16

You can now afford to buy the full priced Coca powder because you saved so much on an S4!

    • +1

lol she does if she's making chocolate cakes ;0P

  • Just hope they won't send us email like DX.com they over sold and cancel our orders without authorization.

    • For reals?

        • +1

Don't think you can price match grey imports…

        • +1

Man. I just went to office works and it didn't work. Please Black badge this guy mod, terrible troll.

        • Come on guys, that was just a joke. That was a joke because I thought everyone should know OW do not match Kogan prices. Feel free to neg me but why are you so serious?

        • -1

I'll neg you if I get the chance.

        • jokes are meant to be funny

    • +2

Hard to believe. OW don't price match Kogan.

      • Yeah I called my local OW and spoke to my guy who price matches everything (have never tried Kogan price match) and he said that it has come from Head Office that they don't price match Kogan products.

    • Legit?

    • *** UPDATE OIC Joking.

which OW do ya go to?
The one near me sucks :(

    • +3

OW only price matches aus stock - kogan is grey import

  • Ha, just purchased one, I'll ask questions later lol :)

  • +2

hope this is not a pricing error.. was bitten by the amazon pricing bug!

    • +1

Its a win win really :P if its a pricing error you get your money back on a compulsive buy, and if it isn't… well you're up a new phone for the price of a slightly older one

      • You may have forgot also selling it for a tasty profit.

  • +1

100% convinced this is an error, but hell - ordered one anyway!!

  • +1

Picked 1, might sell it when the price of Note III gets stable.

  • +1

Your credit has been charged slightly less than original price to verify the purchase please enter the amount charged. Saved another 20c!

    • Saved 34c here :)

  • +2

Planning ahead - does anyone trust Techno Buffalo on how to turn this phone into a Google Play edition?

    http://www.technobuffalo.com/videos/how-to-turn-a-galaxy-s4-…

    • I haven't looked at that link but XDA should have guides… assuming these guys followed that then should be right

    • +1

Yes that's how you do it, I followed the same procedure just slightly different (used a different rom, made a backup of stock first). IMO GPE is superior to the stock firmware in many ways.

    • For those of you that came in late (like myself)…

When the Samsung Galaxy S4 was released, it came out with Two versions, the other one bearing stock Android version of the OS, and called the "Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition". The following link reviews the two phones. To sum it all up, the "Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition" scores more on the benchmarking tests, while the standard version with the TouchWiz provides a lot of apps.

If you are the kind of user that considers all those apps under the TouchWiz to be bloatware, you should be pursuing the above mentioned techbuffalo link or this link. TouchWiz is the thing that network operators customise on the phones they distribute on contracts. That is where the unwanted Telstra/Optus bloatware gets added. Also, any new updates to the OS would need the network carriers to test and upgrade their bloatware before they release a stable over the air release for us hapless people.

    • Thanks for the link Paul.

Price has gone up to $429 + delivery

    Please update the title!!

    • +6

      Its $409 for me

      • ditto

    • Ups my bad…yeah its still 409.

Can someone remove my previous comment?

  • Bought one..

but very doubtful I'll get it..

    :(

  • Even cheaper than S4 Mini not possible.

  • Bought one. Thx. This deal is going to hit 150+ in an hour.

  • +5

Yeah rang local Officeworks and they said no to pricematch cause its Kogan.

  • can you claim TRS refund on Kogan?

    • +2

No, because you don't pay tax on the purchase in the first place, so there is nothing to refund.

  • OW here I come!

  • there's no way I'm gonna miss out!

  • I've been monitoring the prices of the note II and s3 for a while now and they all have decreased in price by $10-$30. So I have a feeling it's a pricing error, meant to be $609 possibly. But fingers crossed they honour this deal!

    • the fact that the s3 4g is also priced at 409 makes me agree… but hey got to try

  • +1

    Freight protection worth it?

    • +3

I got it just in case Kogan "lose" my phone.. =P

      • +1

same only $5 and phone is $100 cheaper then anyone else so….
went paypal option - extra level of protection
        hopefully order gets fulfilled…

wanted a note3 but until price/phone comes out this should be good
and if note3 price is decent i would be able to sell the S4 for $400 easily :)
        win:win

*above all assume kogan delivers and not ask for more $$$ haha

  • Damnn…Can't resist the temptation…got 1..fingers crossed

  • +1

Why did I buy a phone AGAIN??? even the LG Optimus F5 $149received today is a spare-spare phone

  • +2

I already have a white S3, but can't resist at this price. Worth a punt!

And there I was, after owning a S1, S2, and S3, saying 'Yeah I'm not buying another Galaxy'

    FML

    • I hate TouchWiz but you can stick the Google Edition rom on there for legit stock 4.3 :D

      • How's the camera on the Google Edition ROM though? One of the reasons why I choose a Touchwiz based ROM over CM.

        • Follow this link and the camera comparison is on page 2, I think.

  • Well ordered one. Now to wait and see if it gets shipped, then figure out where to sell my S3.

  • Definitely price error.

  • Bought one. Now I have two S4. Wonder how many people bought this phone deal and also the Amazon UK ssd pricing error "deal".

  • Bought one. Questions later. Once(if) I get the shipping confirmation will either try to send the nexus 4 back or sell it.

  • +25

It seems they applied $180 discounnt twice. I received an email this morning it's $589 till midnight today.

    Anyway. I bought one

    • +11

This is the most logical answer in the thread.

    • Sounds like an explanation …

    • +3

what would happen if kogan billed all of us now - and didnt deliver goods / refunded in say a week later?
how much $$$ would they have gained by putting all the 'presales' into the bank + interest gained…

      • +2

        Not much.

        Let's say 500 bought @ $430

        That's $215k

Somewhere around $26 per day at 4.5% interest

        • -1

They can speculate in overnight markets, which can double their money at positive expected values.

        • If they did a price error for the cash then it's highly unlikely they are doing it for the negligible about of interest.
It would be more likely that they were having cash flow issues due to all of the refunds they've had to give out from Kogan Mobile having to shut down while they haven't received any refund from ISPone.

It's not my opinion that this is the cash but far more plausible than trying to cash in on interest.

    • +2

You are right, on the page with all the phones, for the S4 it says:

      $589 crossed out
      $409
      Save $180

And in another place on the website, the saving is $360
