  • -6

I was going to price match it with office works tomorrow but the deal just end :(
    I am so sad now

    • +7

Sigh. You cannot price match at Officeworks with Kogan.

      • -2

u can price match Kogan with office works.
I did it for my iPad 4 32gb and the price reduce to$ 531.
        Someone did it too.
Lots of people did a price match with Kogan at ow to buying a iPad mini and Samsung galaxy s3

So can someone post their receipt here please ? :)
Let me try and price it again :)

        • can you show your receipt (your ipad4) of price matching OW with kogan??

        • -1

If I post my receipt here, will u post urs ?
Anyways, ow don't do price match with receipt
I just want to prove myself that I am right and show u guys that ow do price match with kogan but it is not consistent, sometimes they do it, sometimes they don't.

          PS
U guys are not true ozbargainers

        • +2

This is probably the thousandth time that has been explained on OzBargain.

Kogan is based in Hong Kong and all their products are grey import. This means the products do not include manufacturer's one year warranty.

Officeworks' price match policy only applies to Australian businesses. Note that while Kogan has a .com.au domain, it does not have an ABN and that is also why the products do not include GST. This means you are not supposed to price match at Officeworks.

Having said that, yes there have been cases where people have successfully price matched their iPads over the phone and even the S3 using Kogan. However this is due to bad training of some team members. Since March, they have tightened their price matching with the S3 by requiring the manager's approval. So yes, while you can try your luck to find an incompetent team member to put through the price match with Kogan, you are abusing the price match policy which I find unethical.

    • Ask someone to post their invoice if you still wanna give it a go. Can't see it happening as everyone knows Kogan sells grey imports and don't have any physical stores though.

      • -1

Can u post it invoice here please ? :)

    PRICE NOW $629!

    • Geez now I'm really not confident about initial pricing.

    • +1

also no sale banner anymore :)

  • -8

pretty much price error as price raise to $629 now.

    Kogan == Hardly Normal

    • it saying "END MIDNIGHT!"

  • Thank bejesus I didn't see this earlier.
"She" would have killed me for buying yet another smartfone

    • -3

Sounds like a "He" to me.

      See what I did there?

  • White colour is $599 though. Maybe it is automated when sold certain amount price will adjust itself therefore black is now more expensive than white?
I guess if Kogan honours it whenever you see someone is using a black s4 it is safe to assume it is an ozbargain member.

  • Professionals are back. Was so tempted to buy 2, one for me and my sister but thinking back to the Harvey Norman bs decided its not worth waiting for my refund. Good luck fellow Ozbargainers who bit the bullet

600 +ves. I feel an avalanche of negs coming.

    • Deals get moved to forums if there known to be price errors

    • It will just get moved to the forums if its a pricing error.

  • +1

has kogan ever had a price error?

    • +1

      yeah some mug thing once.

      • to make an error that BIG is highly doubtful in my eyes, but we'll have to see.

  • +2

Didn't buy one as I don't really need it, but now the price has gone back up I'm kicking myself for not getting one! Rggg

    • -1

Don't stress. Think if you really want one for that price while its higher so you don't jump on it later, Galaxy's drop in price very fast compared to almost all other electronics. It won't be too long until it hits this price again, a month or two tops.

    • +1

i didn't even know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and my wife needs a new phone… i'm now officially depressed!

  • Oh man.. what did I miss :(

Don't worry guys, if SGS3 history holds up, a big sale will happen when iPhone 5S/6 launches which should be soon.

  • NVM, I found the other post. Hopefully we don't get cancellation email.

  • +1

I was an apple hardcore fan but after today I can say that I was. Iphone 5C rap and Iphone 5S-hit are are absolutely dissappointing. Thanks for this amazing post. Time to Ditch iphones and samsung S4 here I come.

    • Not to mention we have to pay $138 for the exact same phone as America in the 16gb iPhone 5c and $159 more for the 32gb.

No induction charging, no major camera upgrade (lumina 1020 I'm looking at you) and no game controller case.

      No sale apple.

      • +1

In the US, with contracts, you still have to pay $200 for the phone. Here we get it free. Their unlocked prices are about the same as ours.

I don't think they have a better deal than we do.

Also, the prices on 5S and 5C (unlocked) are expensive.

        • +2

Free my ass. U still pay the $200. It's just 7$ a month extra not a lump some. Plus USA contracts would be cheaper. Not standard 70$ plans

        • There are plenty of phones on $60 plan with no handset repayment. Of course, it is arbitrary how they want to "sell" this to you. You might simply be getting less call value on the plan compared to one that has a handset repayment.

Also, their plans are not cheaper at all:

          http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/plans/individualplans.html

          450 minutes for $40 a month.
          900 minutes for $60.
          Unlimited for $70.

$60 a month (total) here gets you a high end phone. How many minutes you get varies. Caps can be around $700 but of course you need to check call rates.

      • +3

Are you factoring that US prices don't include sales tax in their listed prices (Most states 10%) and that the US dollar is currently around 8% higher than the Australian dollar.

        • +4

Apt that you talk about 'retards mouthing off' and then you link to a terrible article in which they compare Australian outright costs with American contract costs.

So lets compare apples to apples instead of apples and oranges.

          iPhone 5C 16gb -

          Australia - $739AUD - $687.62USD Tax inclusive
          Oregan USA - $549USD + $0 Tax = $549USD
          California USA - $549USD + $49.85 = $598.85USD

Wow so that's the best and worst of American taxes and America gets it between $88.77USD and $138.62USD cheaper.

          iPhone 5S 64gb -

          Australia - $1129AUD - $1050.38USD Tax Inclusive
          Oregan USA - $849USD + $0 Tax = $849USD
          California USA - $849USD + $77.09 Tax =926.09USD

Again best and worst of American taxes, America gets it between $124.29USD and $201.38USD cheaper.

I never compared to the contract prices and I didn't mention that I was comparing outright with outright because I didn't realise that I had to dumb everything down, but there you go little tommy I've cut your steak for you.

        • And to make matters worse, they let you know they are taking the piss out of you, by selling it in a piss coloured version.

  • Hmm excellent price! But how long will we have to wait? Probs till the s5 is out lol

    • +1

it's 2-3 weeks from hongkong + 7 days metro delivery. It's either cheap and slow or fast and expensive, your pick.

  • Back up to $629 now….

    • +7

No shit. That's why it's been marked as expired since 12:53am.

  • Pheeeew, just pulled the trigger on Kogans shopping cart email…it worked and still $436.98.

    • really?

      • Yep, I was through to the payment screen last night and backed out. Kogan then sent an email -
"We've saved your order for a limited time. Be quick to secure this price."
Email cart link worked, and price still the same with Paypal payment.

Daughter has now decided it would be financially prudent to go S4 over the new IPhone offerings.

        • Yeah normally you'll be able to get it at that price (if you received the email & follow the link from it) for 5-7 days.

Same thing happened to me with the s3.

          Works like a raincheck.

        • I received an email to get the phone for 400 too. but the payment doesnt go through by credit card. I have tried 3 didderent cards now.

    • +1

I also have this email, but was waiting till today to pull the trigger to see if it was a pricing error.

      • +1

is it possible to share this email link?

        • It's a link to the persons shipping cart and it's individual. Sorry

        • I also got the email, and clicked and the price is still $409.

I already bought one. What happened was I used my generic (spam catcher) email address, but it didnt match my paypal email, so I tried to change it, but it went belly up, so I opened up a new browser window and started again with my real email.

So I bought one, and have a link to another.

        • could i have the other one?

        • that would be awesome. :o

      • Looks like it Legit, time to pull the trigger.

  • +5

comeon, from millions ozb member, no one has a family or friend or insider connection with kogan? share some info please

  • +2

Shhoooot. I had an SII in Japan and have been running a crappy Galaxy Ace back here in Aus waiting for the Note 3 and "low cost" iPhone announcement. $740 for the lowest iPhone = the buyers remorse for not grabbing this last night. Oh well, time for the Note.

  • +1

Wait a second. They said like 4 weeks delivery right, what's the 30 day interest rate on a few million worth? You know , when we finally get the "we tried and tried but can't do it" email.

  • And wasn't it also kogan that did a similar thing with the S2 back in the day? Keeping orders on hold for 8 weeks or something?

    • Nope that was ShoppingSquare

      • Ahh right yes SS it was. It didn't end well for them as I recall. Kogan better watch his step lol.

  • Missed this for a stupid reason (eye checkup drop/cant read due to blur).

Any good soul want to resell (sydney)?

    Thanks

    • +1

They don't even know whether they will finally get it or not yet.

      • -1

Yupe, still waiting for the all good to go email from Kogan

  • I just bought one at $431.99. Here is how: Last night I went to the checkout but didn't buy it, I received an email shortly afterwards that they had saved my order for a short time. This morning I decided to buy it (since no apple fanzies are going to match this beauty in foreseeable future). Clicked on the link in that email and paid through Paypal. Hope they honour it :)

    • hahahaha good luck dude … i hope you get it! i missed out n its ruined my day… shame on me for not checking ozbargain ever 30 mins! hehehe

      • +1

I still have two of those working links for $431.99 but they are pre-filling the forms with my personal details so can't share them :( but I could order one for you. pm me if you want one and we can sort out the payment if you are interested. Cheers

  • So glad i found this… I went onto ozbargain at 11pm last night…… Stoked, now apart of the android army

  • no way the Kogan site and Twitter were hacked right?

  • Even if they did mess up, good on Kogan for not calling us professionals and honouring this!

    • +1

HN on 3AW now getting canned for not honouring online price mistakes. They are talking about some wine fridge that they were selling online for $129 that was supposed to be $829. Neil Mitchell is going to talk to both HN and consumer affairs to get an answer. Any one got the article where Gerry called us professionals. I want to send a copy to Neil Mitchell

      • Time to get this case reviewed too.

      • Let us know what the outcome is. We want our ASUS tablets.

        • Nope, I no longer wants it even if $99, just bought the new Nexus 7 LTE for Shopping Express.

  • Ack! Missed this! Dammit!

My work colleague just called Kogan and they confirmed that it was a pricing error.. they even said if you pay the extra $200 odd and you can get the phone.. that's horrible. D:

Not sure what the whole twitter thing going around is though..

    • They confirmed on twitter it's real.

      • +8

The tweets confirming that there was no price error were deleted, so probably confirmed as a price error :(

        • Has anyone taken a screenshot of the Twitter post? I forgot!!

      • +1

        Twitter posts have been removed

Why is he being negged for giving information?

      • +6

If you have a look again, they've since removed those tweets.

Everyone is so quick to jump on the negs for providing information.. lol :)

      • yeah real is pricing error.

  • now what to do about my brand new nexus 4 :|
