Looks like Kogan just had another price drop on this, at this price it won't last!
Be quick guys!

Credit goes to OzBargain user: tongyun for telling us about it :)

Update: Kogan has tweeted that this was not a price error, however this has since been quickly removed and it is unknown if orders will be honoured.

    • Not me, would not have bought yesterday if it was $500 but $409 is just too good to let go. Was actually waiting for Honami, G2 or GN3 as my next phone but who knows, may end up with a S4 instead.

  • anybody remember the "set top box" incident with kogan long ago?, feels like deja vu!

    • +3

Kogan did honor it though :)

  • +2

I see no reason for Kogan to honour the deal. If $429.99 is far below cost price + actual shipping price, then they stand to lose quite a bit of money from this deal. Of course, they'd probably have someone on retainer calculating how much business they'd expect to lose from the negative publicity, especially since this has been a much more public deal than the previous (whirlpool post link). If A is greater than B, then definitely no hope. Unless, of course, they also factor in positive publicity gained by honouring the deal and expected profit generated by this.

I think the smart move that Kogan make is not to completely negate this deal, nor to completely honour it. I think offering those who bought it the option to buy it at a further discounted price (ideally be cost price + shipping & handling).

Edit: Unless it really was a ploy to hedge the S4 incase the 5C was dirt cheap. If so, then well played Ruslan, well played

  • +13

We all should treat Kogan as we treat COTD

    • Which still get posted (and upvoted to the eyebrows) when there are, the very seldom, great deals from them.

So treat Kogan like every other site/retailer then?

  • -6

    I blame Filipino Jesus

  • +2

    I really want a s4 now T.T

I WILL NOT PURCHASE IT FROM KOGAN EVEN IF IT IS $30 CHEAPER.

  • +21

We should all ditch Kogan. Even if they sell stuff cheaper. At OZB, we get enough opportunity to SAVE a lot of $$$, we should be able to make up for it here. I call for everyone to not post Kogan deals here on Ozb, if this deal is not honoured.

    • Yeah! Let's not post any bargains to a bargain aggregating site!

  • +15

    Neg for kogan

  • +12

Well put it this way, if Kogan choose not to honour this deal, then they shouldn't show their face on here anymore…that's one big advertising medium down the drain for them.

    • +4

Shouldn't show their face? There are Kogan reps here? This is insane thinking anyway. You would all buy from Kogan again even if there's a good chance it's a too good to be true situation. Sony RX-100 for $250? Don't care - buy now think later, and get refund even later when it turns out to be another pricing error.

Kogan's reputation will not be affected in the slightest by this debacle, same as Amazon with their Samsung SSD deal.

      • I sort of agree. Just like the Fishpond Game of Thrones Blue rays deal. People said bad bad things about Fishpond, but still threw money into that deal and guess what? It was a legit deal.

What i'm saying is, regardless of what company, if it is a bargain to be had, everyone is going to jump on it.

  • Why are people negging a pricing error? Because you couldn't buy the phone under priced?

    • +2

because Kogan said they will honour it and then they flip back 180 degrees

    • Because they said it is not the price error before SEE THE TWITTER PIC!!!!

  • +1

Someone in Hope Valley bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 4G LTE i9505 (16GB, Black).

    • +13

Someone obviously doesn't know OzBargain exists lol

  • +2

All these comments remind me of this movie scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPkWr2VOTws

  • +9

Just called Kogan, the stuff didn't confirm but advised we will be contacted (by today) regarding their decision…

    • +1

      so there is still hope!
no news is a good news~!

      • +3

Unless if there's no news till next week while they're holding our money

      • Not possible for them to honour it, they may have sold 10,000 units and each $50 less than cost as some said before.

        10,000 x 50 = 500,000 ….. what do you think?

        • You need to fix your link.

        • ah, who know their real cost.. also, really 10,000 individuals? hmm.. probably not.
unless some brogans bought 100 each.
and kogan is big enough to lose $500,000 and still make big profit in a year

        • .

  • +5

@Kogan ! How can they get it wrong so many times. . I hope their phones are going off with complaints. . The least they could do is acknowledge if it was a mistake . Their customers deserve to know. .
Very poor handling of the whole thing.

I noticed they have this don't call us we'll call you attitude.. Always in a hurry to get the customer off the phone without answering the question ..

  • +1

All i can say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH oh well..

  • +2

I have wasted so much time on this BS. If Kogan dose not honor this price, I might still use their website, but definitely they will not be the priority, I will avoid them anytime it is possible.

  • +4

OK Guys, more Kogan updates (as I was hassling Kogan by Twitting them and sending the screeshot from their Twitter page)

    The response is:
Hi XXXX, Our Team will be in touch regarding the S4 orders. If you placed an order you should get an email with all the info.

I think its the same template they are using for all the queries they received…

  • +1

Look on the bright side, you'll probably get some coupon for your next purchase, similar to when Grays Online stuffed up on their lenses.

  • +7

    Hello Everyone,

I've been told by a friend that if we live in NSW we can seek 'Fair Trading' via this GOV link https://www.cas.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/icms-public/complaint…

And attach our receipt as evident and they'll work for free on our behalf and tell KOGAN to uphold their side of the bargain.

It's pretty quick and I'm currently lodging a complaint now!.

If you guys can lodge one that would be great as it will put pressure and weight on the issue.

    • +3

      they'll do nothing.

      • free is the magic word :D

    • +4

      HI Prince

There is no need for you to repeat your inaccurate post on multiple occasions.
If its a price error then there is nothing fair trading can do about it as they have themselves covered.

Besides we should wait for an offical announcement that Kogan are not going to fulfill orders before you even waste your time and time of public servents arguing about something your are not entitled too!

      • yupe, so far they send an order confirmation email and an invoice, and so far that is what I am holding onto until they send me another email canceling the order.
as far as i am concern, my order has gone through.

edit: just received an email, it has been canceled, pricing error!

    • +1

And five times now you have made an identical post to the one above in this forum.

How many times have you complained directly to KOGAN?

Kogan are yet to confirm or deny whether anyone will be getting a bargain phone (I suspect we won't), so until then it is a bit premature to complain to Fair Trading.

You need to at least wait until KOGAN have officially confirmed the price error and they will not be honoring any orders.

Till then your only complaint is that you read a rumour on OzBargain that someone said it is a Pricing Error.

    • +1

      @69 - Prince
If you had a business and made a price error that would cost you millions would you honor it even when you terms and conditions say you dont have to? So long as they refund you the money you really cant complain. I know that we are all after a bargain but there is a point where its just becomes unreasonable that they have to honor something that will cost them money.

      • -2

you still do not get the point, you kept barking like a dog without food.
        1. if it was a price error, why it is more than 6 hour????
        2. the rep on twitter clearly said that it was not a price error even some one mention $409 suspect as a price error and he deny it. and then everyone on twitter who follow kogan start ordering as it is not PRICE ERROR (at that time see pic here http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/16843/18224/14buy5v_1.j…)

so please do not defend kogan by any chance. and stop saying they lost money and balblablablalbalblalbalbalbalbalbalbalbalblablablablalblbalalbalbalblabl for many many pages, you just waste a bandwidth here

        • +1

u sound like the one barking like a dog without food

  • +3

How can i ever buy anything with confidence in my life again, when whatever I bought can just be described as "price error"? Kogan is horrendously destroying consumer confidence and generating false hope.

    • +6

Sounds like you lost more than your online buying confidence there buddy.

  • Guys lets face it the price was too good to be true… You should have came into this deal expecting it to be a price error and that there was a high chance that they weren't gonna honour it. So let's not get your panties in a bunch and just move on.

    • +1

if they honor the deal its just the icing on top of cake, what we after are the thrill and suspense from it

  • if some people take this to ACA it could work as very powerfull positive or negative publicity whether they honour it.

  • If you want to read more about Fair Trading's description on false representation, see here: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/Consumers/Advertising_and_…

  • +1

I'm surprised it hasn't made the news already…unless the media is waiting to hear the outcome first too
