        • Purchase a large still/kettle from a homebrew shop (or on line) + large plastic container with a tap attached to brew the initial mix which needs to ferment with yeast until the air aerator at the top stops "glugging" - usually about a week, depending on the temperature. This is then transferred into the still/kettle & drawn off, charcoal filtered, alcohol content adjusted down to apx.40% & should end up with apx. 10 lts. of pure spirit which can then be put into 1125ml. bottles with your flavour mix added of your choice i.e. scotch, vodka or even liquors. The process takes a while to do properly & the initial layout is expensive - but the cost per 1125ml bottle works out to about $15.00. For many this will be in the too hard basket as it does take time & effort. Your local homebrew shop can give all info. We've had ours for about 8 yrs. & have saved so much - far cheaper than buying or even duty free + tastes better.

  • OP you've done an excellent job! You know how to make business :) Keep it up!

  • +1

This deal has more votes than their facebook likes haha! awesome deal, thanks OP!!

    200+'s in only 3 hours! wowsers…

I'm tempted to try these guys out but twice now I've applied for sample proteins from previous offers from two different vendors on ozbargain and twice received zilch in the post so I'll pass.. I still have a few kilos left from my latest bulk nutrients order (switched over from No Bull after that proteingate incident)…

From what I can see, price wise these guys look very reasonable, but I'd suggest photoshopping the product images to remove the 1kg text - initially looking someone might assume the price listed is related to the weight of the product displayed (even if it does say from)

  • Learning a lot about nutrients theory at the moment, wouldn't mind some tasting! Cheers.

  • +12

This deserves to be deal of the month just based off OPs generosity and effective communication.

  • why do i get the feeling we will actually receive these in 6-12 months time or not at all

    • +1

Still waiting for my Bulk Nutrients samples !!!!

But in this case for Bulk Proteins there are 304+ Positive vote and 112 comments. I will expect a bit of delay, which they have indicated on their site anyway.

Bulk Protein looks like they are setting themselves up as a competitor to Bulk Nutrients. BN was pretty much the best in price and after the Protein scandal across many companies they were also the number 1 in reliability. Hopefully BP will also be 100% reliable with their products.

Anyone done some home testing yet ?

    • Editing a silly comment

  • Thanks, ordered, never tried pea or rice protein before!

    • Free lunch for a week! :P

  • Great looking site, great rep. See how these bad boys go.

  • I ordered a sample and made a purchase :)

    Thanks!

  • +1

I'm glad you had this deal. I've seen your offers on OB and been tempted to buy but have been stung before by horrible tasting protein (mixed with water). If they taste good you'll definitely see future orders from me.

    • +1

If you only base your purchase on taste, you're vulnerable to being ripped off.

  • Great idea to gain orders. Sample ordered to test the water - WPI/WPC unflavoured to see how it sits with the missus and one for me to trial.

OP - is there scope to nominate a mix of flavours when ordering? Eg. Buying 5kg - can I buy 5 different flavours or does it have to be 5kg of the same flavour?

    Thanks

    • +1

Yes see previous post in this

  • +20

This comment is going to be negged into oblivion, but while people here point out 'marketing 101' I'll point out 'economics 101' - when something is FREE there will be wastage.

$1 or 80c per sample is too much, but say 10c each would stop the 50%+ of orders that these guys will get from people who have probably never even bought protein before or know what it is! 30c for 3 samples is still a bargain.

I love OzB but I hate the 'freebie' wastage, it ruins the bargains for the rest of us (both bargain hunters and bargain suppliers).

    • +9

I completely agree with you. As demonstrated by a user on the first page that had absolutely no idea what the deal was, but still ordered – these kind of orders may only cause the legit samples to be delayed, and in the meantime my money will have gone to Venom or BN. Brings me back to a couple of months ago when there was a free baby bottle deal which dozens of users posted “Ordered, dunno wtf I’m gonna do with it.”, whilst myself with a newborn missed out! :|

    • Which part of the Bargain is ruined for the rest of us ?

      • +3

        Ahhhh…. short term thinking.

I'm saying it will ruin things for us bargain hunters in the future because companies give up on these types of promotions due to their high cost and low hit rate.

If you assume a 50% 'freebie abuser' rate (i.e. people who just order because it's free, with zero chance of ever becoming a customer - as in the baby bottle example above), if companies adopted the 'nominal fee' model then companies could do 2-3x as many of these promotions! Wouldn't that be awesome!

Do you even lift, bro? :)

        • And yet after many decades of freebie promotions companies are still doing them. I really have no idea how long free samples have been offered to obtain new customers - 50 years? 100? - but I hardly think this is a new occurrence and it likely wouldve stopped decades ago if it lost money for businesses.

I can only assume based on what actually happens in the real world that it makes more money to offer it this way rather than charge a nominal fee which is an impediment to people trying the product.

I know if I was walking through Coles and someone offered me a sample for say 10 cents I'd just say forget it.

        • True, however things are a little different these days with the internet, us 'professional' shoppers and our culture of 'just getting one because it's free'. Think of the baby bottle promotion, what a waste of money for that company! (while the real potential customers miss out!).

Handing out products at a train station, at a Supermarket or whatever is more targeted… (i.e. with the train station you have busy people who have jobs / money, in a high income area, rather than all the students here on this site that would never buy anything, for example).

A real potential high quality customer, one that you would actually want (and has at least some interest in your product) should have no problem paying a extremely nominal amount for a decent sized sample (depending on the product, of course).

We can agree to disagree, although I believe it would be a more effective way of running promotions as you could run many many more promotions and your sample stock will go much futher. I would say it's up to 9-10x.

    • +15

We are not going to let it ruin anything. We are aiming to have all the samples out this week and next. We know a lot of people want to try and get them before the sale ends and we are going to aim to do that for everyone.

      • I hope the people like myself who bought kg lots in the sale don't get their orders delayed to much?

        • +1

These samples won't affect any orders. We hope to have all orders that are currently backlogged cleared by the end of the week.

  • Thanks OP! Looking forward to receive this!

  • +1

We wonder if you are on course to having cleared half of the orders, by Wednesday , and, has others received their paid orders from this new group &supply chain.

Been disappointed b4, & no goodwill until proven _ either way<>, as youll appreciate.

  • Anyone having any trouble purchasing via paypal? On my screen, it says the merchant doesnt't offer this payment option.

  • +1

why does the unflavoured whey isolate have 4.8gr of complex carbohydrates…. the only carbohydrate in whey is lactose, which is a sugar (simple carb)

    are there any other ingredients?

  • I think I read it somewhere on your site but what is the sweetner that you use? If it isn't Sucralose then that is definitely something that you had over BN

    • +2

      Natvia

      • that's good….prefer it over Chlorine (Sucralose).

        • Interesting you say that because I found that Stevia adds an odd taste to my coffee (comparatively speaking)than Splenda and equal.

For me Splenda is the best followed by Equal. Both varieties of Stevia ive tried make the beverage taste odd.

In saying that, the Splenda tablets aren't as good as the powdered granules. I don't remember which form of the Stevias I've tried so it could be that.

        • +2

This is something the big soft drink manufacturers are trying to solve. Some of the population get an odd after taste from stevia, otherwise it would be used in every commercial product available. I doubt it will be long before they figure out a formulation that avoids it.

        • I bought some lime cordial the other day with only 2% sugar and the rest Stevia. Couldn't taste the difference. They are getting better at it.

    • +2

We are unsure why companies use Sucralose, the only thing we can come up with is because it increases profit margain and it doesn't show up on the Protein Tests these companies give out. As we are an Australian company and Stevia is approved as a food additive we see no reason to use any of these other artificial sugars as it is natural and provides no changes in nutritional values and yet still provides a sweet flavour.

      • Hmmm, I've seen somewhere that stevia can poisonous?

        • +13

Probably ACA and today tonight. Wait 6 months and they'll now tell you it's the miracle cure that saved some poor womans life who got obese off sugar.

        • +7

That depends on whether you have coffee with Walter White or not :p

        • breaking bad joke :)

  • I wonder if op get 4000 orders.

  • +2

I hope you ship the free samples before the sale ends! :)

  • Hi Rep, do you have any micellar casein? I am looking for a slow digesting lowest carb possible source of protein.

    • To add to this, I was wondering if you guys plan to expand the range of aminos etc in the future?

If the Creatine is neutral tasting and isn't too gritty, and you guys also start offering L-Glutamine. I know I'd be a guaranteed customer for those.

The jury on the proteins taste is still out :p

      • +1

We just received a shipment of L-Glutamine today. We will be loading it up shortly.

        • Sweet. Might grab 500g of that and another few samples I wanted to try.

    • +1

We are just finalising an order of Calcium Caseinate and other Caseins. Will let people know when its available.

  • REP… soooo technically some shops could purchase direct from you and you can deliver straight to customer considering the logo options?

I'll sign up for a sample as i'm keen to buy a couple of your 500g deal (postage saving)… about time I got off Humapro and back to real protein.

Also, what is ETA on delivery to Brisbane… keen to try out before your other deal ends!

    • Yes we have a few people who use our website as a drop shipping service. We have many ways of accepting orders, for instance many e-commerce platforms allow an automatic email to go to drop ship suppliers and our system will import it. Other personal trainers sometimes take bulk orders from clients add it to an excel spreadsheet and send us a weekly order.

      • Our service is changing slightly as we are moving to full colour labels on the sachets now as it speeds up production. With this option the whole label and bag colour is customisable.

  • thank you heaps, i always wanted to try some of your products as the packaging looks amazing

  • Hey Rep…. do you plan on making any batches of Rice Protein Isolate soon ??

    • +1

Yes we are as our manufacturer does make a 90%+ Isolate. We will let everybody know as soon as we get it in.

  • Awesome deal, thanks rep. Bit of a shame that so many people ordering have no idea what this is for and have no intention of ordering protein in the future, ah well.

  • Looking forward to trying this out. Will buy if good.

    • Same here - thanks Rep for this.

  • Yay now I can try the three flavours of protein I didn't order when the sale started!

Definitely grabbing another 500g and samples with my pay tomorrow.

Thanks for being so active on ozb too :)

  • Thanks Rep,

will order more if i like….

  • +1

I purchased some from the deal you had last week. Glad to get the samples as well, but I really hope you ship out the purchased orders from before first (I think you said you'd do that on today). Thanks.

  • Rep, are your no wheat products Gluten free?

  • Appreciate it rep. After only recently learning about nobull I will be looking for a new brand to order from. Great idea with the samples - if they mix well and taste ok I'll be ordering from you. Keep up the great work!

  • +1

Any luck with any tests yet?

  • +1

Great, was going to ask for sample, I've got a few testing kits so when they arrive, I'll give them a test.

  • Do the sample pack's come with scoops?

Have no idea how the hell else I will measure out the ALCAR (first time I've tried it). Have plenty of protein scoops lying around, but 1g servings? I don't think my kitchen scales would even notice that.

I've noticed that other retailers offer ALCAR in capsules which might be easier, is this something Bulkproteins can manufacture?

    • No sorry they don't. ALCAR is a painful one to measure. We are looking at capsules but it is behind a few other things we have coming.

    • A metric teaspoon (ie, 5ml) is ~ 3.5g of alcar. A standard set of measuring spoons should have a quarter teaspoon measure (it's pretty common in baking), so that's about .875g.

      Close enough is good enough.

(but you really should just buy some micro scales from the ebays or jaycar)

  • Any chance of offering the 20% on first order rather than just until the end of the month? Not ready to buy up big this month unless the samples arrive and meet all my expectations.

Or possibly offer a 20% off voucher with samples this month only?

    • +9

We are currently discussing what we are going to do about this. I guess it all depends how long the samples take for us to send out. We may extend the promotion just a little longer.

  • +1

I noticed that your carbohydrates are 1.7g for every 30g serve. From my past purchases from other brands, yours appears to be about 3-4x theirs and standard WPI's I've seen. I'm no guru with the nutritional info side of things, but why does yours have more carbohydrates then the other WPI's products, and does it really matter/is it relevant?

    • thats pretty fair for WPI youre still getting 90%+ of the isolate compare to WPC 70 to 80% which is within standard

though probably 1g per 30g is ideal on a stricter basis, wouldn't worry its so little difference, bit of carb is actually good and would burn like nothing.

    • Your right it is high and after double checking the website and our product labels we can confirm its a typo on our web developers part. We have just had it fixed to be the correct value.

  • +1

To those that are familiar with this stuff, I assume unflavored is always the HEALTHIEST option? in terms of being more natural, no colorings / additives etc?

    Can anyone confirm.

Complete newbie in this area, thanks!

    • in terms of being more natural, no colorings / additives etc?

If you're talking about protein - I don't think anyone cares too much about the colour of the powder..
Unflavoured just means there's no flavouring - i.e. no sugar/chocolate powder
Additives = it' just flavouring (so there will be sugar to make it sweeter, pleasing to your mouth)

    • +2

We are getting close to having all our nutritional labels converted to a web format. We will then load up the flavour ingredients and nutritional panels. Until then though Chocolate, Coffee (Coming Next Week) and Mango are 100% Natural products including flavours and sweeteners. Strawberry, Vanilla and Banana use Artificial flavours and natural sweeteners.

      • Thanks for info

  • ah.. anyone figure out how to add more than 1 sample? the add to cart disappears once you have one sample.

Very finicky to try to add samples.. Seems to only want to give me 1

ah figured it out, not sure if it was a chrome issue but I just had to wait a few minutes for the add to cart to appear again

    • +1

They have a 20-30 second timer for adding more samples or you can 'like' the Facebook page.

      • ah thanks. I should like their page since they give us free samples and shipping.

        Only 1k likes on facebook.

I use my gamer facebook profile for liking

  • Anyone got their free samples? Any feedback about the taste? My protein is running low now and this is just in time to get another batch from OP. But free samples not arriving yet.

    • Mine's yet to be fulfilled. :(

  • +1

Heard your ad on radio yesterday (Nova in Perth) - nice work OP

  • If it doesn't contain meth, HGH or testosterone you might as well eat a couple eggs or drink a glass of milk.

    • The cost per weight unit of protein is much cheaper for WPC than for eggs or milk. It's also much more convenient.

  • +1

Just received confirmation that my order has been dispatched. Also checked the website - now offering a flat $4.95 across all orders. That is tremendous value. If the Protein is ok, might have to place a larger order. Rep, how long will the shipping be offered at this discount rate?

    • +7

The new shipping rates are not limited. It is an ongoing price.

  • Hi Evulse,

Firstly, one of your earlier posts says the 20% off is on for all of October.
The website today shows the 20% sale is finished?

Secondly, the shipping rate of 4,95 has also changed to 12 again.

Are both of these expired or can I still get 20% off and 4.95 postage (which would make be buy some stuff today).

    Thanks

    • I checked the site and it's still showing 20 percent off and 4.95 shipping

  • My apologises, I got BulkProteins and BulkNutrients mixed up.

  • +1

Order placed and confirmed on the 13th.. still have no update.. status is "unfulfilled".

  • +5

Ordered a 500g sample from your original post of 20% off storewide.

    Order placed 10/10.

    Order Shipped 18/10.

    Still haven't received product.

500g is 16 serves, I would be more than half way through the order by now, so if I did want to restock on this product, I would need to put in an order today for it to come in on time and this is assuming that the package arrives tomorrow.

This was before you posted the free sample deal as well and before you posted that there may be a delay on orders, this is totally bullshit.

    • +2

Don't even bother with these guys anymore mate. I ordered the day before you, shipped apparently the same day 18/10, and I selected express post which should be next business day delivery. tomorrow will be 3 business days later and still nothing.

Will not buy from again. Bulk Nutrients or Bulk Powders have pretty much same pricing anyway, and are reliable.

      • We are open to admit the shipping delays are unacceptable, We can't go back, all we can do is make sure this doesn't happen in the future which is why we have introduced the new guarantees. We plan on doing even bigger promotions in the future and the one thing this sale did accomplish was to help us identify our bottlenecks and improve them to withstand massive sale events.
