Samsung Navibot SR8751 - Good Guys - $378

30

My Navibot SR8845 died after swallowing my cat's toy mouse (RIP). So I was looking for a new one which was cheap but at the same time worked well. I was happy with the Samsung so wanted to stick with it. So I settled on the SR8751.

I saw a few of these models on Ebay for $299 but they were refurbs. Good Guys popped up for $378. Comparitively, Applicances Online has it for $419. RRP is $599 (although it can generally be found for $499).

Remember to pick up your cat toys before running it kids!!!

  • Nice! I have been thinking about getting one of these but never considered how it would handle cat toys! now they just need to have a robot that picks up all the toys before the navibot/roomba comes around

    • Sounds like a winning idea!

  • Is this one any good for picking up cat hair? I was going to get the Roomba one designed for pets but it's silly money. :(

    • +3

Once your pets start riding it around the house, it somewhat pays for itself in laffs.

      • And Youtube hits :)
Unfortunately my girlfriends cat is 8.5kg so would probably squish it!

    • Can't speak for this model but I did have the SR8845 (almost the same thing) and it was great although every week you needed to unscrew the twirly brushes and take out the big brush and dehair them.

I found my wife's hair was more of an issue then the cat hair.

But after spending $700 three years ago on the other one, I don't want to drop that sort of cash again. Rumour is Roomba is developing a brushless version which would be the best idea.

Do they make one that will suck up a cat and eject a puff of cat hair?

    • +4

Yes, but these are marketed under the term "Garden Mulchers"

      • If your carpet is red, then you are good to go

  • I owned this model and found it was ok, but after issues (just wouldn't wake up or talk to base station) I went with the top line lg (which is now $699), and there's no comparison regarding battery, noise and intelligence. Cleaning is similar for both, but obviously the samsung means a lot more noise, recharging, and trouble with rooms/finding base.

Lot of tight arses here including me, but if recommend spending the extra $ on the lg.

Probably should not I have a large 4 bedroom open plan living area home, the intelligence issues should be less pronounced in smaller homes / units etc.

    • I have the LG. Mate has a Samsung. LG is much better in a number of areas but more expensive. He would buy LG if he had choice over again.

      • Yeah not spending $700 again on one. They drop in value too quickly.

        • What is the model number for the LG one? Just so I can see if I can find it cheap :)
There is a few different ones on the LG website.

        • I'll have to check tonight, but from memory the Good guys where I got it only stock 1 model lg at the top end (I think there's a newer square sided one that's superseded mime.

Was that price with a free gift.

    • Didnt see a mention of it. I'll find out when I get it I guess.

  • Better than the Aldi one?

  • Price and title has "8" and "7" swapped.

  • Has anybody bought the Hoover ones? I saw an advert on the Godfreys store on princess highway the other day for 99 bucks, could be worth a try if someone can say its decent for its price I guess…

    • Godfrey's Hoover brand is their own home brand. It's not the same as the English Hoover brand. I'd stay away from it.

  • Our son has Samsung - we have LG - prefer ours - if you're in Brisbane or Melbourne and don't mind "refurbished" try Smart Electrical Clearance Outlet - good savings compared to RRP

  • Got fusion (motor burn out) cover on your home and contents policy? (Or accidental breakage?)Might be worth claiming for your old one.

    • Not with the excess. Just not worth it.

  • Arrived home tonight and my wife had bought a Hoover from autobarn for $169.

it's charging as I type. charged it for 30 minutes and gve it a whirl earlier and it picked up some dirt and dust even though my wife had vacuum this afternoon.

  • Love our neato (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/123973) which happily sucks up Lego and other toys the kids leave on the floor…..
