    Not a bad deal but bad brand. My last sony laptop used proprierty hardware so you cannot take out or remove the SSD drive.

    NOt only that but Sony had to release its own graphics drivers as it wasnt compatabile with intel / other drivers (been waiting 3 years and still no update).

    Also once your warrranty runs out they wanted $500 to look at my laptop.

    Spent $3000 on the Sony Vaio Z Won't be buying Sony ever again, swapped back to toshiba

      This information was well documented by users, and should have been checked up before buying if you wanted to upgrade the SSD. I have the Z as well, and I would never go back to another brand. You trade off the upgradability of the SSD for a laptop which is light, has an incredible screen, sheet battery, and carbon fiber body. Just because the laptop you bought didn't suit your particular use/desire doesn't make the brand bad. And $3000? eBay had them for $1700, and Sony have a worldwide warranty on the Zs.

        Everytime I vvisited a computer.shop.they said never.go sony, they are a pain to deal with.and break often. Neg the professionals if you think you know better, im not fussed

          So why did you buy it, then? And I didn't neg you, so settle down. I'm still not sure what your big issue is with the VAIOs apart from the video drivers (not really an issue unless you're a gamer, and even then..) and the SSD size (which if you bought the top of the line was 256GB).

          I've got a Z as well.I love it! My wife drop and throwed it three times and it'a only have 2 crack corners and a still working but nit easy ti open Dvd drive. Its works as my media player now and I still loving it.
          By the way I just came back with my daughter from the pool and tooked some under water pics using my Z1 ;)

          I loved the Z and knew about ssd, just telling you most people and computer.shops warn me off sony. Was also disappointed.with their after sales support.

          I understand where you're coming from, Mark. Hopefully you're happy with the Toshiba, and were able to get rid of the VAIO for a good price. If you still have it (and you have the BD burner PowerDock) I'd be keen to buy/swap the dock off you - my one is just the reader.

    Xperia Z Tablet at its lowest price so far I believe. I bought it recently after price matching with JB and I can confidently say it's been well worth it.

    I recommend it to anyone in the market for a multimedia tablet; fantastic for viewing videos, playing games, and reading books. It's insanely light and easy to hold, and the app market and tablet ecosystem for Android is a LOT better than I expected.

    Got the Sony Vaio pro 13 for a few months now. They are very light. Using it for work but windows 8 is not that good in screen size adjustment if you want to RDP to a workstation and lower the resolution. It just uses the resolution of your laptop which makes the RDP session hard to read. My laptop is in it's highest resolution but I am able to modify the text size to be bigger, it does not however do that on the RDP session.

    You can't upgrade the memory as it is soldered (as I read it on a site). Still I like the laptop. Touch screen is good if you are reading some documents.

    No Ethernet port, you will need to buy Sony's proprietary converter which I think is about $100.

    Also boots in around 8 seconds.

    In the item description on the store page it says the $200 voucher runs up until 24/12/13, but in the Sony T&Cs it says the promotion runs until the 31/12/13. Which is it, because I want to gift this for Christmas.

          That is the reduce special price some sony. I am just pointing out that SE regular price is cheaper than sony AU regular price. The SE price is this deal is still a lot cheaper than sony price right now. You cant expect their regular price to beat a special price from sony.

    Good price for the Pro 13. I bought this a few months ago, but returned it almost immediately. Wifi is a big issue if you are several metres away from the router. Look up Sony Community and you will find a lot of frustrating customers.

      There's an app called Xperia Privilege that only Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Tablet Z can download. Every so often, Sony gives away free promotions to people who have the Xperia Privilege app. You'll get the $200 voucher once you download and activate the Xperia Privilege app (as long as you do it before 31 December).

      Edit: After re-reading it, I think I see what everyone else is saying. You don't get $200 to spend on the SEN, you get $200 worth of stuff that's already been prepicked for you (5 movies plus Elysium blockbuster movie, 60 days free Music Unlimited, 10 Playstation for mobile games).

        You could but it is pain in the ass and after you unlock it you lose the camera functionality. What's the point of locking it in the first place? Why can't be left unlocked as with Samsung and Nexus devices?
