Anything in there about Watchdogs for the PS4/X1 ?

    • +1

just get it from dse for $65 I dont think big w can beat that

      • +1

well they proved me wrong its $64 at big w but I think it could be $60 at dse cos in the other thread this guy was told it will be the same as wolfenstein price which ended up been $60 even though catalogue says $65

  • +2

Awesome price, good to see brick and mortar competing with the online stores

  • Very good deal, wonder if JB will be able to match or beat this one

  • +8

Great price, especially when combined with the free game offer - http://www.gamesites.nintendo.com.au/mk8_bonus/

  • And I had just bought it from Gamesmen too. But I guess $68 express delivered isn't too bad.

  • Nvm

  • Sweet! $58 for Mario Kart and download copy of Wind Waker HD (for me) is a very good deal!! Between these two plus the $36 Monster Hunter I picked up the other day at EB for $36, I'm set for the next few months.

    • +16

How much was Monster Hunter again?

      • +2
      • +1

You can also get it preowned for 28 too!

Other notables include sonic transformed NEW for 28, rayman PO for 19, dark siders 2 PO for 9, deus ex NEW for 19, splinter cell NEW for 19.

There was a couple of copies last time I was there'

        • +1

19 for deus ex? Instant buy man.

  • $58 and a free game too! Woo!

  • Wow! Maybe I should just forget about the special edition that I preordered and get this instead! Hmmm

    It's just a blue shell statue….

    thanks op!!

Edit : nvm about the catalogue link

    • I just cancelled my limited edition preordered from EB yesterday and placed an order from gamesmen for $64. I should have wait 1 more day for this one. Sigh… I could have get it for $58 - 5% my mate's staff discount. Anyhow, this a fantastic deal OP, thanks.

      • +1

At least you are guaranteed to get it. With Big W you might show up and find that all copies have been sold.

        • Even more so now that this ad is out. Ppl are going to be waiting in front of the stores before they open, then stampede to the games dep.

        • heh, I doubt it. Target has those Wii U demo machines with playable MK8 demo, and there's been minimal amount of people that pay attention to it.

        • Fair enough, just like today I had to go to 3 of their stores to score an iPad mini.

    • Yeah, I cancelled my Blue Shell Edition as well. As much as I'd like to own that, it's far too pricey just for the shell.

      • Think I will cancel mine as well. Wait for the "Back for a limited time" on EB's website soon ;)

  • This is great.
I walked into EB games a couple of weeks back asking if they would price match when I pre-ordered. They said no and gave me a spill about still being able to pre-order and match on the day, which essentially translates to "If there are no copies at Big W, you pay our price".
I think it was still $78 at the time, and would have happily paid it. For $58 I'm happy to wait on a back order if I don't manage to get a copy on Saturday.

  • Fantastic deal, sad that Big W's construction in Launceston is taking forever…

  • +2

    I love you, BIG W!!!

  • +3

The hype is building…5 days to go…

    must contain myselfeep nerdgasm O_o

In the meantime play the intro theme on a loop. Amazeballs!

  • Fountain Gate EbGames would entertain the idea of matching Big W Pre Order price (because it's within the shopping centre). I knew this because I asked about it yesterday. Lucky I didn't go for it, but now I will… :-)

  • No…I have pre-ordered this game through EB Games for 79.95! They just deducted the money from my account! What can I do?

    • +4

Raise hell instore and stop when they give you your refund.

    • +1

learn to never buy from EB online. Can't understand why people ever do, you are forced to pay rrp and then have to pay for postage!

      • It's actual 10 deposit plus 73… OMG!

    • Just realize there are "Two Random Mario Kart K'Nex Figures" coming with the pre-order, that will even the difference I guess!

  • What are peoples thoughts on a digital download of Mario Kart 8 to avoid any disc issues and smoother load times? I am guessing it will probably be around the $80 mark. I would hope the game won't have issues in loading but you never know..also I know this game will get thrashed over the years so I am trying to avoid ruining my disc reader.
    Any thoughts?

    • +1

69.55 AUD if you previously bought Mario Kart SNES on VC. I'm going digital too.

      • Don't forget all the credits you receive if you have a Wii U premium. And paying it all with a Citibank cc thinks its an os transaction.

  • Hopefully target match the price online, i have a $10 off when you spend $60 online voucher that expires 31/05

    • if you match it then you wont be spending $60

  • Damn. I already preordered this for $68 from BigW. Think they'll refund me the tenner? Or should I cancel and re-order?

    • I did the same thing. Even if they don't refund, return it unopened and then buy it again.

    • I also pre-ordered.

Contacted their customer support and confirmed this is an in-store offer only.

Personally I think it's better if you cancel the pre-order and get it in store, but there's nothing wrong with refunding an unopened game either.

AWWWW YEAHHH amazing deal! Can't wait for Krack Kart!

  • Guys, when do we have to redeem the bonus game by?

I don't have a Wii U just yet, but perhaps I could buy Mario Kart 8 now since it's cheap, then a Wii U console around Christmas and then download Wind Waker HD?

    • +1

By the end of June I think it was.

      • +2

        Steps:
-Buy game & register game PIN code by 31st July
-Claim game DL code by 31st Aug
-Use DL code by 30th Sep expiry.

        All info outlined here.

perhaps I could buy Mario Kart 8 now since it's cheap, then a Wii U console around Christmas and then download Wind Waker HD

Yes for MK8, but you'd have to buy a Wii-U sometime in Sep to DL/attach the game to your account.

        • Thanks Elijha and grab_ur_freebies, much appreciated!

      • edit: dupe. Whats with the site lag?

  • I was swinging towards going digital on this item just so if I drag the wii to someone elses place I don't have to worry about the disc … I think the only thing that would get me to buy a physical version is a (pro) controller bundle as I need more of these and they don't seem to be cheap…. though this is very tempting.

  • +1

I'm another one going digital - can't stand the constant noise from the Wii U disc drive. Until they allow us to install games I have no choice but digital. As mentioned above, at least digital owners get Super Mario Kart for free. Also Nintendo Network Premium members (buyers of the black WiiU) get around $7 extra off.

    • Constant noise ? Maybe you have a problem with your WiiU

      • Nothing abnormal- just that it spins the disc constantly whether it needs to read it or not (even in the non-gaming menus or when you're playing another installed digital game). Grows tiresome. I read that one of the reasons Nintendo went for such a modest spec (Wii U) was that they wanted to avoid noise and heat. Shame that they forgot about installing discs.

        • One thing is for sure, next gen (6-7yrs later) will highly likely go full digital distribution route & use SSD as storage. By that time large capacity SSDs should be cheap as there will be some new storage medium to replace it.

  • -7

Does this include the Wii U console??

    • -1

      Really??!

      Nope

      • -7

Damn I thought maybe they werent doing well and selling at the above price now cause I bought regular wii with mario kart + wheel for $89 2 n 1/2 years ago. Plus xbox360 & 3 games for $69 the last boxing day. Grrr

        • +2

Ah, another one spoiled by OzB thriftiness. 'Cheap' expectations!

        • I bought regular wii with mario kart + wheel for $89 2 n 1/2 years ago

The Wii came out in 2006… That was 6 or so years of competition before it was discounted to anywhere approaching that.

        • $69 for the 360?? That's insane even for boxing day. Where was that?

        • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127696, only 2 games not 3.. my bad

        • Actually you are unknowingly right. GoW3 came with a free DL code for GoW1 (if you chose GoW3 as one of the 2 games in bundle).

        • Damn, I remember seeing that but the title was confusing. I thought I'd have to pay $269 and then get a $100 rebate, which didn't seem worth the trouble.

  • For someone that has access to the physical catalogue: Are there any good Wii U bundles on different pages of this Big W catalogue? Or is the EB games deal better?

    • FWIW I went with the $378 Wii U Premium Bundle, price-matched at JB Hifi. Getting this on top of that gives me 4 games for $438 without the Wii Remote Plus, but you can play everything using the GamePad.

    • The current online deal at Big W for a Wii U Premium with New Super Mario Bros + New Super Luigi is pretty decent. Toss in Mario Kart plus the free game and it's about the best you can get.

      • I went to price match i JB cause it was closer, and was told that they didn't have it in stock in that store - and couldn't either as it was a bundle that was not going to be offered any more.

        • They must have caught on. =) Price matched in JB Hifi in the CBD on Saturday afternoon.

        • Nah he said he would do it and that the other JB a while away had it and I could go their .. but the point was it was closer. Ended up getting it click and collect from BW which is near my home also .. just had to wait a weekish to get it.

    • +5

      First off, Thanks OP!

The catalogue only has the MK8 Bundle in the top left for $398. No other Wii U bundles in the cat.

I think we need a MK8 Buyers check list ;)

Need a console? EB Games Wii U Basic Bundle $278 with MK8, Skylanders and Free Digital game.
Just the game? Big W $58 awesomeness.
Pro Controller? If you don't mind white go Targets $49 in store or price match using the webpage.
Food? Coles/Bi-Lo CC's 175g $1.59 (you may need to buy a few bags)

      :D

    • +7

Wow, so you pirated some NDS games, awesome story.

    • +2

Possibly the most ignorant thing I've ever read on these boards.

  • +1

Gosh, this plus Watchdogs (wish wii u version is out too!) 58+64 = 122 total or mk8 special edition for 100????!!!

    • I heard we won't know the Wii-U release date until E3. Siiiiiiiigh. That's SO LONG!

      Don't forget to get MH3U for $34!

  • +1

I'm glad to see a special price on the Peach/Yoshi Wii Remotes, I was thinking this week how I'd like to have the set of four, hopefully Mario and Luigi are discounted as well.

    • I have been hanging out for the Peach/Yoshi Wii Motes as well. The Mario & Luigi ones are really cool and $58 is the cheapest I have seen them at the moment.
I am going to be so broke by Saturday!

    • I don't even care it's pink, my precious!!

  • Damn, I caved in believing there wouldn't be launch discount and preordered from Dungeon Crawl ($64, which was already way better than anywhere else!) Well, they have that policy of always pay their lowest price, so if they decided to compete with this price I'll get the discount.

  • Hey OP, You may wanna change the promo for the free games to 10 titles to choose from.

  • Yay, pricematch at Kmart or Target will mean I can use my 5% employee discount= $55.1

    • You're not meant to get staff discount at Kmart and Target if you price match a price outside of the Coles group.

      • Well you can

        • You should probably read the terms and conditions of the card.

          Discount is not available:
Where prices are reduced to meet competitors prices

But I did work for a Kmart, so I know it's not as well enforced as it probably should be.

        • The average cashier will not know that.

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145645#comment-2008198. Same price without the hassle of trying to get a price match.

      • I suspect Ajax will get it for that price from Kmart or Target anyway because they usually preemptively price match, which may be why the bundle is in the Kmart catalogue but the game is not.

        • Kmart is so easy with pricematching. I managed to get a wii u basic for $170 when dicksmith had their clearance, with no questions asked.

        • +2

Also I suspect Big W will sell out within half an hour of opening

        • I would go to Target next because I went past Kmart today and asked them to search for the game in the computer and it only came up with the bundle.

        • Correction Kmart will sell it but it is set at $79 at the moment, and my local Kmart was only getting 9 copies.

  • any idea if this is able to purchased online (at this price) as well or is it only in-store?

    • They'll probably update the online price after release for the first week

  • Oh yeah, see you online!!

    • Not if I see you first :O

Feel free to add my NNID folks: BhaskarMC

By the looks of all the OzBargainers hitting up MK8 we'll have a pretty decent local presence.

    • Yep. 'OzB'er only' tournaments. Anyone game enough?
