My phone will be getting discharged a lot this weekend. Still, thanks OP and Vodafone.

  • What happens with a $2 sim can you just buy a data pack and it will work ? (for calls)

    • Yes, for existing Postpaid and Prepaid customers. If you join us on or before 19 October, you can still take advantage of our free call offer.

  • Free calls start at 00:01am AEDT on Saturday and finish 18 October and 11:59pm

join Vodafone on or before 19 October, to take advantage of the free call offer

Something is not quite right, unless time travel is involved ;-)
But thanks for letting us know about this Normie :-)

EDIT : It is much clearer in the Vodafone FAQs

      Hi oz-dave,
Its my first day here :)

  • Beautifully done Vf, you've done it again (although more coul've probably used AU calls).

Anyway, easily appraise it for a worth of 30 cents .. as I set forth to commence a $56-world pack/skype subscription, $56/pa; $0.15 day(Voip;-). Ha!

    • Assuming, you will be able to get through with your overseas call during the promotion period!

      • heheh, perhaps perhaps. Would be fun if net did trump pstn QoS on this freebie-event. Assuming no-crimes-against 'neutrality voda, stays true.

Speaking of Vodafone been in Australia for 21 years, does anyone remember the old Vodafone ads on tv with Kramer from Seinfeld? Or am I showing my age?

  • Is Ireland included? It's not part of the UK and it's not listed…

    • +2

Given it's not part of the UK, why would you think it's included?

      • But as Belfast Northern Ireland is a part of the UK it should be included.

  • What about corporate plans and accounts? Do they work

    • I have the same question.
      Anyone know the answer?

    • Every active Vodafone service will be good to go.

  • Makes me want to call the "talking clock" in London for two days

    • +1

as per the fair use policy:
      2. It is unreasonable use of a Fair Use Promotion where Your participation in a Fair Use Promotion is reasonably considered by Vodafone to be fraudulent or to adversely affect the Vodafone network or another Vodafone customer's use of or access to a Vodafone service or the Vodafone network.

      • +2

OK I will call New York talking clock as well

No love for the rest of the world?

    • Yes, very "selected".

    • +2

      It's free! Can't complain!

  • This should be a permanent feature

  • Hi Rep. I am using Justmobile which is on Vodafone network. Will this promotion work for me?

  • +1

    No Canada. Disappointing… :(
Nice for those with loved ones in the selected countries though.

Times like these.. an Ozbargainer needs to learn how to
      Hangout

  • +1

Sweet, I have unlimited international calls on my bday =)

Now if only i actually liked talking on the phone…

    -EDIT-

Actually, what happens if I'm on the $50 Red plan… does this eat into my 300 free minutes before getting free international or does this bypass the free 300 minutes?

  • +7

Wow India is included - MISTAKE! Lol that'll cost them.
Never seen an Indian without a phone welded to his head.

      • More of an observation with a Lol.

        • Isn't that what that suspended Sydney Uni Professor tried to use as an excuse … ;-)

        • @Wally:
Apparently he was playing a "whimsical linguistic game" with a friend.

    • Errr… I have… plenty actually…

      • +1

Oh boy, probably didn't make myself clear, I've seen plenty of Indians without a phone welded to their heads… hell plenty of my friends ARE Indian

        Seriously, no racism intended before.

        • -2

it's still a novelty for them to hear a phone ring in a rural Indian village

    • +1

students in general (both international and local) seem to be glued to their phones. sometimes i'll pop into the library at uni, come back out 30 minutes later and see the same person still talking on their phone. sheesh.

    • +2

avoid taxis this weekend, more likely to be distracted and crash

      • lol with the way the majority of taxi drivers drive, they're just accidents waiting to happen as it is

    • super true

    • @King Tightarse, never mind…

You did point it right though, the sheer volume of Business that Vodafone India generates, outstrips that of many countries combined..

      • This is a FREEBIE. Total profit=negative.

        • Not really…most callers will be advertising for Vodafone this weekend and it looks like the selected countries has vodafone as a service provider

  • i just so happened to port out of vodafone. damn it.

    • +1

I think it works with a $2 prepaid SIM. Easy to rejoin if you like.

  • USA but not Canada? :-(

  • +1

Anyone know the number for the head chef of India? Want to call and thank them for their cuisine.

  • Was told you cannot just buy a $2 Sim activate then do the free deal was told you still need minimum $10 recharge regardless so really not free if you are thinking activation of $2 Sim means you can enjoy this deal.
Was told by their India call center.

  • People still use pstn for intl calls these days?

  • It's too bad no unmetered 2+GB $un-days /
