Good timing. I'll be sending out a shipment from my Boxhop account in December too from my Black Friday shopping so that extra 25% off code will help.

    • where to insert 25% promo code ..new to boxhop ? advice

      • You will be prompted to enter the promo code during the shipping order checkout.

  • So total 45% discount till december with the coupon code? Whens the coupon expiry?

    • Well the OP said the extra 25% off shipping coupon code is good in December so i'd assume all of December.

    • +1

      Hi,

The extra 25% off any shipment coupon will expire at the end of December 2014.

Please email us with any additional inquires at [email protected]

  • Sounds like a good deal. I'll be looking into it tomorrow

  • Rep, does Boxhop offer a buying service for stores that require purchases to be made with a US credit card or debit card?

    • Hi there,

BoxHop does not offer a concierge shopping service at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

      Best regards,

      The BoxHop Team

    • Use Entropay or Shipito's affiliated US Unlocked service.

      • I used Price USA.

  • How do I add in the coupon code? Or is it auto added?

    • +1

The extra 25% off shipping discount code?. According to the description that the OP write that only applies for in December. It's not December yet so you wouldn't be able to use it right now.

    • Hi there,

You will be prompted to enter the promo code during the checkout process.

      Best regards,

      The BoxHop Team

  • Hi rep, i have pm'd you about some shipping costs, really heavy items 100-150lbs. pls check your messages, thanks

    • Hi there,

      • I got a quote a short while back for a large automotive jack which amazon won't ship internationally. 120lbs, 46 x 10 x 15” package. The quote came to $245 - plugging those figures into the link above gives a BoxHop quote of $383.78. Is that before the discount of 20% + a further potential 25%?

  • I wish you had posted this earlier…

  • +13

$25 for a very small parcel, size of a credit card!
More than $50 if I buy a motherboard or graphics card!
plus this joining fee and $7 monthly fee that you waived
No thank you for your kindness Sir, I enjoy the benefits of shopping locally

    • +2

      Yeah. Nice flag btw.

    • Hi There,

The prices and terms you have posted above are inaccurate.

For a Platinum member shipping a 1 lb package to Australia, we estimate shipping charges of $19.92 USD using our cheapest shipping option, this price could be reduced to $14.94 by utilizing the OZHOLIDAY promo code.

For a Platinum member shipping a 2 lbs package to Australia, we estimate shipping charges of $23.24 USD using our cheapest shipping option, this price could be reduced to $17.43 by utilizing the OZHOLIDAY promo code.

We believe that both of the weights we have provided shipping estimates for above would easily account for a combination motherboards and graphic cards.

Please feel free to use our shipping cost calculator below to accurately estimate BoxHop Shipping costs:

      https://www.boxhop.com/shippingtools

Additionally, there is no joining fee or membership fee for new users signing up through this special promotion or for new users signing up via referral links.

      • That's interesting, cheapest option for shipping an Amazon Fire TV is:
        1.2lbs/0.5kg - US$29.88 (US$22.41 after discount)

      • I can't see a box for promo code until checkout. Can you direct me where it is ? And i purchased sneaker from Amazon and estimate the cost using shipping tool it comes $19 but when i actually go there to do ready to ship it gives me shipping cost of $33. Can anyone explain me whats going on ?

Hopefully this 20 and 25% off make much chipper than other us forwarding company.

How does this compare to Australia Posts new service?

    • sorry i accidentally pressed neg when i tried to press the +. any idea how to undo it?

      • To revoke the negative vote, you can click on 'Votes' under the comment and then the red circle with a white line next to your name :)

Australia Post have a US virtual mail box forwarded? You seem confused.

    • +1

I find Boxhop to be a bit cheaper usually - especially with the premium rates.

    • Almost everything is better than Auspost. Shipito kills it by a lot.

  • +1

I had a lot of fun experiencing Black Friday last year in Hawaii. But with the dollar how it is, most of the bargains evaporate.

  • If they can take ~45% off their regular postage prices and still keep at a profit as I doubt they'll run at a deliberate loss for a promo like this, I suspect the regular prices are pretty high…

  • +4

i've done some comparison on the quoted shipping against Shipito(cheaper then shopmate). on a 3kg 25x25x10cm package its $47(shipito) compared to $36(BoxHop) *not including the 20% off code. i think we have a winner.

Looks like a pretty good deal but a few questions for rep here:

Do we need to pay sales tax as the local address is in Illinois?

Does the platinum membership gets automatically cancelled after one year or do we have to do this ourselves? Trying to avoid reoccurring fees here.

    • Hi there,

Whether or not sales tax is applied to your purchase depends on if the retailer you are transacting with has a physical presence in Illinois.

After your first year with BoxHop you will be given the option to cancel or renew your account via email.

      Best regards,

      The BoxHop Team

      • Does Amazon fall in to this category?

        • +1

I've been shipping blu-ray movies/tv shows from Amazon and i have not been charged sales tax so looks like Amazon does not have a warehouse in Illinois. It means you'll be paying no sales tax from Amazon.

        • @hollykryten:
Apparently Amazon are opening warehouses in Illinois by 2016/17 and IL purchases will get sales tax then. But that's a fair while away now

      • +1

If I do not take any action with the email would it be cancelled by default? Trying to get the clarification as we are going to submit our credit card info when making a purchase.

        • Hi There,

If you do not take action with the email, your account would remain active by default.

          Bet regards,

          The BoxHop Team

        • @BoxHop: Hi Rep, thanks for the reply but I don't think you got my point. Let me put this a simple way, are we going to GET CHARGED $50 MEMBERSHIP FEE IF WE DO NOT TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE EMAIL ONE YEAR AFTER?

        • @maxhu: looks that way.

        • @maxhu:

          Hi MaxHu,

Yes, that's correct. To clarify, we will not cancel your account and delete your profile unless you request this of us.

To be sure, we are happy to help our customers cancel their accounts, but would only do so if requested.

Please email us at [email protected] with any other questions.

          Best Regards,

          The BoxHop Team

  • Link says OZHOLIDAY is 25% off the first shipment, whereas the post says 25% off any shipment in Dec. Which is correct?

And is it really only 25% off in Dec? Not much use for Black Friday sales then, is it…

    • I would like the rep to confirm this as well. he is not responding after posted the deal.

      • Now he's replied to every question except mine. Hrm.

    • Hi Folks,

Apologies for any confusion here, the OZHOLIDAY promo code is active now and will expire at the end of December 2014.

Please feel free to email us with any additional inquiries at [email protected]

Getting a referral from an existing member is a better deal than this. A referral will give you:

    • $15 credit (would work out better than 25% first order for most)
    • 1-year Platinum Membership
    • 20% Discount on postage for a year
    • All the other things mentioned at the top
    • +3

That doesn't seem like a valid reason for a neg to me. Referrals from existing members is surely only available to a small subset of potential customers, ie. those who know existing members who are willing to provide them with a referral.

Edit: I see a mod has now added a referral wiki.

  • +1

Hmmm I have to say their shipping prices seem very GOOD - as I was looking at buying from a US vendor who does offer postage to OZ BUT their rates (which are the EXACT USPS rates) are considerably higher than the BoxHop ones…….even more so if you take the extra 20% discount into account!

Not sure if I'm missing something - but essentially you're only having to pay for the shipping costs(no charges per order etc?)?

Seems too good to be true - I must be missing something here.

  • Referral links/codes are not permitted in comments. If you wish to add your referral link, do so ONLY in the Boxhop Referral Wiki.

    • Done and added mine :)

      • Added mine too. No worries :)

    • Update: Randomised user referral has been set up for BoxHop. Go to "My Account" -> "Settings" -> "referrals" and you'll find BoxHop there. Use that instead.

  • if you combine multiple purchases into one parcel, it would easily go over AUD1000. Would you have to pay tax then?

    • Hi there,

Any shipment with a declared value above $1000 AUD would be subject to Australian customs and duties.

      Best Regards,

      The BoxHop Team

  • Hi Rep,

Do you need us to provide you with ID, etc like other shipping companies?

It is a bit of a hassle when purchasing something small like 100-200$.

    Thanks,
    3rdEarth

I've used them twice - no ID required.

Good service - bit expensive without the 20% platinum though. Platinum brings it into line with the rest.

    • Hi There,

BoxHop does not require our customers to provide IDs at this time.

So I can use boxhop to purchase cosmetics from us to oz right? It's premitted?

    • We are currently able to ship many cosmetics products without issue. However, we are not able to ship fragrances/perfumes, nail polish, nail polish remover, or other flammable products. However, we hope to be able offer special handling for these type of items soon, which would permit us to ship them. We are working actively with our carriers to make this option available to customers in the future. You are able to find a list of restricted/ prohibited items on our sitehttps://www.boxhop.com/shippingtools/au.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions by emailing us directly at [email protected]
      Thank you,

  • Can anyone comment on how pricing compares with Amazon shipping costs to Australia?

The timing is great with the upcoming sales, but since Amazon don't list dimensions for their packages, or accurate weights for many items, it's tough to figure out how much competing services may compare.

Since Amazon jacked up their shipping prices around a year ago, I'm typically spending around 30% on top of my purchase price on toys, clothes, baby supplies etc. It's still cheaper than buying locally, but spending $100+ on $300 worth of toys or kids gear adds up quickly…

  • I used the Referral Link and I didn't get the option to get the free Platinum membership so I didn't go any further, but now when I try to use the "Go to Deal" link, I get told user already exists, even though I didn't complete my registration through the other link.

How do I get this deal now?

    • Hi Random451,

Please email us with the email you used to register at [email protected] and we will be happy to upgrade your account.

      Best Regards,

This is somewhat of a warning story for those considering dealing with BoxHop. I have just gone through one of my worst ever overseas buying experiences, and I’m a pretty seasoned overseas shopper.

So what happened? I ordered a swathe of goods off Amazon and had them sent to BoxHop. As part of this I ordered some external battery packs, for charging phones, tablets etc. They have a lithium battery in them, and this is where the problems started. They said they were restricted goods and would not ship them. I emailed to ask what their problem was, they said they just couldn't ship them. I knew that lithium batteries were a problem a couple of years ago, but these days they can be shipped, as long as there are not more than 2, that they are well packaged, in the original item etc. I even sent them DHL’s own requirements for shipping lithium batteries (this is the shipping company they were going to use). Still no luck. A big part of the problem was that they didn't respond to emails. At one stage I sent 4 emails, over 4 days, asking them to urgently respond so that this could be sorted. No response. To this day I don’t have a clear answer as to why they can’t send them according to DHL’s shipping requirements, or whey they can’t when other mail forwarders can (just that it’s something they hope to be able to do “in the future”).

Eventually I decided to have the external battery packs sent to a friend in the US and they would forward them through to me (what I should have done in the first place), but now an expensive option as I’ll have to pay for multiple shipments. I paid for each BoxHop shipment (the batteries through domestic post and the rest delivered to Australia), but received no email to say that my package has shipped even though BoxHop say you will receive one. It was only when I logged on the next day did I see that the quoted shipping price for Australia had risen by almost 50% from the quoted $105 to $154! Unbelievable. And yet there was no contact with me to confirm that I’d still like to go ahead with the shipment.

It was at this stage that I sent emails demanding answers as to what was happening (they had not responded to previous emails either), which they studiously ignored for 4 days afterwards. By this time the package had been sent, my credit card charged. The package arrived with the goods intact (no thanks to the flimsy box), but the box was 2/3’s empty!! (I’ll see if I can attach a photo). I couldn’t believe it. They have ripped me off on postage, but then sent a box that was pretty much empty. I sent them photos, and demanded they refund the additional shipping fees, with after a long email battle, they eventually agreed to.

The domestic shipping is still an ongoing issue. More than 2 weeks after the external battery packs should have been sent to my friend, there is still no confirmation that they have shipped. The tracking number they provided does not work. My friend has not received the goods. Boxhop have claimed a delay, but 4 days ago said the tracking number would be active in 48 hours. It still doesn’t work as of right now. So more than 2 weeks later I’m still not sure if it’s even been sent.

The company has disgraceful customer service, is incapable of sending items that other mail forwarders can (ie. lithium batteries), and is extremely slow responding to emails. Even when they do, they do not address the questions that have been asked, but usually choose just to simply ignore them. They claim to repackage your goods to reduce dimensional weight – but in my case no effort at all was made. In fact, the box used could been 2/3’s smaller. I will never deal with them again, and I hope you take this into consideration when looking at their deals. Sometimes a saving is just not worth it! This is not a bargain at any price. Just use Shipitto.

  • did anyone use this service yet with coupon/discount provided. What's the feedback? Thanks

  • I got a notification yesterday that an item was received and it will be available in my account shortly. Almost 24 hours has passed and I still can't see it in my account. Why does it take that long?

  • It was just cybermonday so suggest they would be flooded with packages.

    • Good point, I assumed since I received a notification email that the item has been handled once already and it wouldn't take long to be visible in my account. But I guess they have to get the dimensions and weight of the package (processing), so it's prob sitting in that queue now.

      • Well my item eventually showed up in my account. It's got the weight and declared value. But I still can't do anything with it, as the "items are being researched" to see if they can send it to me.

  • Seems like nobody actually used it. I will give it a go and post an update.

    • I'm using Boxhop at the moment just haven't made the first shipment yet.

What's strange though is that the system is claiming that a single blu-ray movie as weighing 0.5kg which i find extremely unlikely. And then there's times when they weigh other single blu-ray movies as 0.1kg which i think is more correct. Since when does a blu-ray movie case + disc + bubble wrap mailer envelope weigh half a kilo. I suspect that some of their weighing equipment might not be calibrated right.

  • It was just cybermonday so suggest they would be flooded with packages.

  • OK, so I ordered an Amazon Fire TV and the initial estimate was
    Total Weight: 1.2lbs / 0.5kgs
    Parcel Protection $0.00
    Globegistics $29.88 USD
    Promo Savings -$7.47 USD
    Estimated Total: $22.41 USD

However, when it actually shipped the cost went down to $17.43 USD.
So it's good that the price went down, but a bit concerning that it changed after I agreed to an amount if the actual cost could go up. Perhaps the shipping estimate is the maximum that you could pay?

Now will have to see how long this cheapest delivery option takes.

    • Have you received it yet? I just received an email that something has been delivered to me but it's not in my suite yet. Seems to take time> I'll post an update here when there is something to share…

      • It was only shipped out from BoxHop a few days ago.
Yeah that delay is what I wrote about earlier and you said it was probably due to Black Friday sales.

        • Yes, seems just to be their process. Actually shipper said it has been delivered 2 days ago. Then email from boxhop today something has arrived, probably another 24hrs until it is in my suite.

        • @drb: Yeah it's a bit strange it takes so long

  • My experience. I've been adding blu-ray movies/TV shows to my suite. But whoever has been initially rating some of the items is making mistakes because for example some one has rated Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs blu-ray (PG rated Cartoon movie) and The Office Season 8 blu-ray as Restricted/Prohibited Item which is completely not what the movie and TV show is. So keep reminding them if they incorrectly rate your items. In my experience it happens in quite a many of cases when it comes to movies and TV shows.

    • Yeah it's been sorted out now :)

  • My experience:
I've currently got 3 items in my virtual suite so far and waiting for the fourth item to be delivered (family members keep adding items).

It seems to take a day or two for the item to be listed in your suite after it's delivered. If the picking slip doesn't show the value of the item, you have to manually upload an invoice stating the value, I did this for a Prep Pad (Bluetooth scales for the kitchen) and it's status has been "item(s) being researched" for more than two days. If it's still that way then the other item arrives (USPS says tomorrow), I'll hassle them.

TLDR: So far the service is operating as advertised, just don't be in a hurry for anything.

    • My item arrived as it was supposed to.

I tried to send my order but as someone else commented, I couldn't send my ordered. I tried again over the weekend and managed to create the order.

The pricing wasn't what the quote said it was going to be, I worked out it was exactly 20% higher, so I am a platinum member but not getting the platinum pricing.

The parcel still hasn't been shipped, in short I reckon I've got a 0% chance of getting the order before Christmas.

TLDR: Packaged still hasn't shipped, got gouged on the shipping, won't use again.

      • My package is finally marked for pickup by the courier.

I'd like to amend that, once the item was ready for shipping, it was at the expected price.

  • This is such a slow service, don't bother. stopped my gear due to battery being a restricted item. Would never use these guys ever again. Nothing but problems.

    • baxter already posted about his experience with batteries.
      what was the item?

  • Is there a problem with the shipping order system. I'm trying to create a shipping order but it won't get past the create shipping order button just goes straight back to the default My Suite View and nothing happens. Was hoping to get the shipment order done today at the very latest before i start getting hit with $1 per parcel per day fees tomorrow. The very day i wanted to get the shipping order done by their shipping order system goes kaput.

And now their customer support is closed for their weekend. Great. And there doesn't seem to be any phone number to ring in any case. Even Shipito has a 24/7 live customer support and phone number.

    • OK they do have a phone number hidden away in their terms & conditions but it's only currently ringing to an answering machine saying that they're closed. Why do they have a phone number hidden in their terms & conditions but not have it shown on the Contact Us page?.

  • +1

This service is not for ozbargainers. Takes weeks extra, poor customer service or none. Stay away from it.

  • +1

Never using this service again! Ordered 2 items from different vendors and I got an email on the same day that they both arrived (2 hours apart). Not long after 1 item appeared in my suite. A whole week later the second appeared in my suite. Both in my suite ready for delivery I find out you can't ship 2 items if you're not a platinum member? -$7 for membership even though I thought I was getting it for free that's why I signed up ( desperate to get it on time for christmas). Oh I was also charged a dollar for storage fees. As I'm desperate I chose the fastest shipping possible which came to a total of $40~ US. I get the 20% off for being a platinum member and I find out the OZBARGAIN promo code doesn't work? A total of $30 US +$7 +$1 = $38. Would have liked to save a further 25% but I can't.
Oh and the customer service is s#!t. Don't recommend this company unless you're not in a hurry to get it.

  • Globegistics isn't too bad. Shipped from the USA on Tue 16/12/2014 Australia time and it's already arrived in Australia and processed through UNDERWOOD QLD mail centre today. A lot faster than i thought it would be.

    • Did you manage to get the 45% off? So angry because I paid extra for express and I found out by calling DHL that they made the paperwork on 17th (Wednesday) but didn't send it over to DHL till the 22nd (Monday). Won't be getting that onetime on for christmas..

      • Yes i got the full 45% off. My parcel won't be getting here before Christmas either since it didn't turn up on Parcel Collect today. Still on the way from Brisbane to Rockhampton through Australia Post.
