SYD/MEL/BRIS to LAX $444USD (~$576AU) or NY $605USD (~$786AU) Return w/ Qantas + Europe on Sale

2930

EDIT: Looks like most of the great deals are gone. Though there are still a few around apparently. Keep an eye on the comments.

Crazy cheap price to LA from Sydney or Melbourne (and Brisbane as commented below)

I've plugged in a few dates and seems that there are fares available for most of October and November 2015. Also getting reports for fares this cheap in December and January.

Also, awesome prices to New York, had to work a little harder to find dates for that one.

Adelaide to LA is coming in at about $786AU.

Other reports of fares to London / Paris / San Fran are mentioned in the comments for under $1000.

Try using the search function at http://www.skyscanner.com/ the ability to search the whole month makes it a little easier to find the cheap fares.

UPDATE 2:

2/7 4:40PM:

Hi everyone, just an update following yesterday’s glitch where mistake fares were incorrectly offered for sale by some US based online travel agents.

Apologies for the confusion. The glitch was fixed at 11:30am AEST, however I'm pleased to let you know that Qantas will honour the bookings in this case.

Woo hoo!

UPDATE:

12:58PM:

An update for you savvy AFFers celebrating Xmas in July with these mistake fares: they’re not valid and have been removed from sale. We’re currently following up affected bookings.

Expect bookings to be cancelled shortly.

  • Must resist… Going NZ in a few weeks my team leader is going to have a hissy fit if I book.

Booked for two to NY in March. All went through.

    • Same. 2 tickets $887.80 15/3 - 31/3. Weird thing is when i went to seat selection all the seats were taken, so hopefully ill get an upgrade to 1st class lol

      • What dates did you select?

Its also showing on my QFF account

It says ill be issued e-tickets

        • @easternculture:

How can you pull up your flights on QFF without a booking number?

        • @neil:

I logged in and saw it under bookings, is that normal ?

Its the first time i book with qantas BTW

        • @easternculture:

Ah, they sent a 2nd email with a Qantas Airways Record Locator, that made the flights show up.

Are you tying this in with your NY-Dubai trip?

        • @neil:

Did you book to the US too neil?

I cancelled that one. Cant go then :(. Now i wish i never cancelled it

        • @easternculture:

Ha. Now that was an epic deal.

Yes booked to LA (probably head down to San Diego) and will hop over to Florida. The majority of the US is miserably cold in Jan-March so the choices are fairly slim.

  • +1

Can confirm this is also happening with Expedia for return trips to London via Qantas and Emirates.

  • Sydney to Honolulu is $530 USD return in Jan next year as well

    • Any indicative dates?

  • can i book through this site and still use my qantas frequent flyer points to upgrade to business class?

    • +1

Cannot you are buying class O type which is deep discount economy

you need to buy Y class to eligible for upgrade

  • Wish I could use Qantas FF points for this!

    • +2

why would you want to use your QFF points for this?
isn't it better to pay with cash for cheap fares

      • +2

        Agreed.
If the fare is cheap (cash) then you wouldn't really want to pay with QFF points.

      • True but I have so many (boohoo) that I want to get rid of and rarely fly Qantas.

        • enable private message in your account settings. I'll buy em off u :P

        • can i buy from you QFF?

  • Just booked via Kayak, got email that said:

Thank you for choosing Vayama on KAYAK. We are currently processing your booking request. Once your payment has been authorized we will issue your ticket(s) and you will receive an "E-ticket Confirmation" email within one business day.

Worried it's going to get flagged within this 1 business day. Fingers crossed.

    • Yeah I've got the same thing. Do you reckon they'll cancel?

      • Not much we can do until we get a confirmation.

I wonder if Priceline and other sites have immediate confirmation?

  • Damn these are good, could almost just go for a week to see some basketball. Definitely going late April/early May next year, best I could find was $1013 with United. From Melbourne.

  • Wondering if either tax or fare component have been left of these prices. For this I blame last night's leap second :)

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-30/qantas-confident-reser…

    • +1

The leap second only happened 11minutes ago.

    • haha, how funny if this was the cause!

  • Has anyone found anything to LAX from MELB around Christmas time?

  • +1

Booked Jan 22 - Feb 12 2016 Melb - LAX, returrn NY - Melb - $1553 for two. Just received my confirmation and checked it on the Qantas website. Thank you so much.

    • How do you check on the Qantas site?

      • +1

Manage my booking > Enter Qantas conf from email + Surname

        • +1

Thanks for that. Did you book through cheapoair.com? The booking number I got from them is longer than the Qantas input, but I can't see another one in the endless

        • +1

@qube: Your email confirmation from them should also include a Qantas number. Good luck :)

  • +2

Wow. If Orbitz doesn't change the price you can go in August this year to LA for $444 USD. Amazingly cheap for summer season.

  • can anybody help me with rough dates? i'm struggling to find these deals

    • where to/from? It's been increasingly harder to find dates from melbourne. I'm still seeing plenty from Sydney.

    • if you are trying during any school holiday period you will be very unlikely to find any. Also start with mid week flights, these tend to be cheapest

  • I can't find any for 27th March from Brisbane to the USA (tried a few destinations). Damn, was hoping there would be some so I could book for my honeymoon! Must be out of the date limit.

    • heaps of dates in March 16 from Syd to London if that is an alternative, $745 USD return.

      • Great price! We've just come back from living in London though, so ideally wanted to head in the other direction! Thanks though :)

    • and SYD to JFK is still available in March 16. There is a +/- tool to click after your first search

  • Booked through Expedia.com for the same good deal because strangely Priceline didn't accept my credit card.
