SYD/MEL/BRIS to LAX $444USD (~$576AU) or NY $605USD (~$786AU) Return w/ Qantas + Europe on Sale

2930

EDIT: Looks like most of the great deals are gone. Though there are still a few around apparently. Keep an eye on the comments.

Crazy cheap price to LA from Sydney or Melbourne (and Brisbane as commented below)

I've plugged in a few dates and seems that there are fares available for most of October and November 2015. Also getting reports for fares this cheap in December and January.

Also, awesome prices to New York, had to work a little harder to find dates for that one.

Adelaide to LA is coming in at about $786AU.

Other reports of fares to London / Paris / San Fran are mentioned in the comments for under $1000.

Try using the search function at http://www.skyscanner.com/ the ability to search the whole month makes it a little easier to find the cheap fares.

UPDATE 2:

2/7 4:40PM:

Hi everyone, just an update following yesterday’s glitch where mistake fares were incorrectly offered for sale by some US based online travel agents.

Apologies for the confusion. The glitch was fixed at 11:30am AEST, however I'm pleased to let you know that Qantas will honour the bookings in this case.

Woo hoo!

UPDATE:

12:58PM:

An update for you savvy AFFers celebrating Xmas in July with these mistake fares: they’re not valid and have been removed from sale. We’re currently following up affected bookings.

Expect bookings to be cancelled shortly.

Not to ruin the party, but you maybe dissapointed when on the day of departure, Qantas says that they are overbooked and you have to take another flight. Hope that I am wrong.

    • +1

How is that going to be an issue, its a full service airline, you get accommodation and compensation

    • Check in earlier to avoid any overbooking

  • +1

Just got an email from BYOJet:

    Thank you for choosing BYOjet.

In this instance your booking is not able to be confirmed by the airline and cannot be ticketed.

There are a few factors that may influence availability and pricing. A major factor may include dynamic pricing by the airlines and this can change at any moment during the booking process. Another factor is that many airlines are now using cached data for quicker fare responses and this may affect up to date availability. Once availability is affected this will influence the fare that was displayed to you and hence may require a higher fare to be chosen.

As we are unable to find any fares in a similar price range since this fare is not valid, we shall cancel this booking request. Your card has not been charged for this booking

Kindly be advised that this fare is not valid so please do not attempt to book this again as this is an error caused by Sky Scanner

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Thank you for choosing BYOJET.

    • what did you book?

      • MEL-LAX October 28th to November 7th.

        • Our tickets on Expedia have been confirmed, and It shows it on the Qantas website now under my Frequent Flyer card

        • thanks, so you went through skyscanner not priceline? how many people?

        • @mayo88: I hope I didn't miss out! I'll try Expedia now.

        • @richmond12: Just me! Ya, booked through skyscanner. Trying to book through priceline now but having issues.

        • @dan1985:

Dan you may have I think they've realized there error now. Im just hoping they dont cancel our booking.

Has anyone flown on price errors before??

        • @mayo88: How does your name show up on the Qantas website? Mine has first name and middle name all in one then surname. Hopefully not an issue

        • @Mrlai2:

Our names are first middle and last like below:
          " John Robert Smith"

So no issues with our names on the site

        • @mayo88: Have def missed out. I've tried to book about 4 more but they all go back to normal fares. Oh well, next time..

        • @dan1985:
Not to worry, I think ours will all be cancelled anyway.

    • +1

      any dates please? thanks

      • 1 March - 31 March is coming up as $579. If you check the whole month view on SkyScanner there's other dates to choose from.

        • thanks very much, nothing was showing for me

        • did it work? month view looks like it just caches the results

        • @richmond12: Link from SkyScanner goes to CheapoAir and seems to still be available: https://www.cheapoair.com/fpnextau/Payment/Air/s/1

        • @Berecca13: tanks
          nah not working

        • @Berecca13: not anymore.

    • which site should i be using?

      • +1

        Try going through orbitz

      • +1

        SkyScanner - select month view.

        • but then the links do not show the cheap prices once you click on them on Skyscanner

        • @Zinger: Yeah, I have the same thing. It seems they don't have many seats available

        • @Zinger: Some of them have worked for me when I've clicked through to CheapO Air, but some have updated prices. Try a few different dates.

        • @Berecca13:

i just tried changing the times. it worked. i put in my credit card details etc and then the price changed to $4500 for 2 ppl! Gutted!

  • Am I to late??? Just got to work after being in meetings all morning :(

  • -1

So guys, how much is it normally to LAX/NYC and back? I believe the price works out to be around $800-850rtn for this deal.

  • Damn ! some of the deals are very good but they don't book tickets for infants :-(
