      Sorry bro, i let u down. :(

      • +1

People let themselves down here, everyone wanted to believe. Hopefully we've all learnt a valuable lesson.

  • +2

I noticed the OP hasn't commented today even though he's been logged into OB.

    • +3

Really sorry for letting u guys down. :(

      • You were so certain about the date man, I think that's what got people.

      • +2

Don't be sorry, it's still better to have some inside knowledge of upcoming deals even if things change (as they can). Thanks, and hopefully Telstra does announce it soon.

  • +3

Ok, it's official. I'm going to cry my self to sleep, this is a major first world problem. NO FREE APPLE MUSIC FOR A YEAR! For shame OP, for Shame.

  • +3

Seemed like OP was genuine about it, so genuinely thanks for the good intentions, if I could ask one thing just please put it in a new post 'when' it does happen, cheers!

  • -6

Telstra might've caught on to this and pushed the date. But I really can't understand why… it's a great offer.

  • Until it's a deal vapourware

  • +2

I've heard the date is August 4th for this promo….

  • We'll have to wait and see… fingers crossed I can get it on my corporate plan. Thanks anyway for sharing AustinZ.

Maybe it's time we clearly differentiate between deals which are live vs. [rumour].

  • The Apple Music information that was leaked here is under a non-disclosure agreement and Telstra are aware of this post

    • +3

I would hope something is happening for us MOG users that are still paying for a substandard service.

    • are you a telstra employee?

      • No, but my wife is

        • ah, OK. just strange you made an account just after this post appeared and only made a comment to say about the ND but you aren't telstra.

        • +1

          Op's profile has been disabled.

        • @matth_yo: Last i heard corp security were investigating OP

  • Looks like us MOG users are going to be screwed by Telstra.
Should we really of expected any better?

    http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Telstra-Product-Exits/…

  • MOG users aren't being 'screwed by Telstra',..it was'nt a fault of there's that Apple bought BEATS, closed down MOG US and then rolled BEATS into Apple Music. How fast was Telstra supposed to react or even be held responsible.

Under the circumstances,..it appears that Apple Music was the priority for Apple, but Telstra customers may in fact be a winner. The Telstra message that appeared day 1 of Apple Music & the fact that MOG is officially closing may be a clue….Stay Tuned :-)

    • I hope you're right. To get a message today that the service will cease in a few weeks is disappointing.

Like many MOG users, I only signed up due to their connection with Telstra.

Telstra has had a lot of time to sort an alternative out for us MOG/Telstra users. There is not even any mention so far of a recommended alternative, or a free trial of Spple Music or any other unmetered service.

Telstra have had a lot of time to work on this and they are a company big enough to be helpful and professional.

    • I should add, my major concern is the lack of communication from MOG and Telstra.

We are a group of customers that have shown a willingness to pay for a streaming service. It is unwise to give paying customers a reason to look at competitors products.

  • Hoping for free streaming with Apple Music. Will be happy with a one year free trial.

As the basis for the catalog is MOG, Ive been enjoying the 3 month free trial thus far.
Only possible deal breaker between Apple Music and Spotify is the lack of integration with DJ programs like Djay2.
Would be awesome to be able to relive my past and fart around DJing songs on the train without having to buy them.

  • I really hope Telstra put something together to replace MOG.

  • Latest Apple Music (RUMOUR):

    • Telstra are working on giving 12Months free access to Apple Music if you sign on to a 24 month mobile contract

    • Apparently the offer will be available in September. And yes, Apple Music data will count towards your cap.

  • Looks like it's for new plans only: https://www.telstra.com.au/applemusic

  • Confirmed:

For iPhone 12 or 24 months Telstra plans, you will receive 12 months of free Apple Music. Telstra

For existing subscribers (post paid) go to My Account, Plans And Usage, Add Ons, and add Apple Music 12 month subscription there.

    • I did this, but I received an SMS saying they weren't able to process it.

      • Same with me. I then rang Telstra and got the usual runaround. I think we should check later. Moderator?

        • Yeah rang them too and they said the system wasn't released yet or something. Now my button is stuck on 'pending'. Hopefully they remedy it later.

Edit: Never mind it says it's applied now.

        • @kheob: I was allowed to add it again. It now says "pending", and I haven't received an SMS telling me that it can't be processed. Fingers crossed.

        • +1

@barryquinn: Mine says it's been applied now but I still don't know how it links with my Apple account.

        • @kheob: Telstra now invites me to add the 12 month offer, but bombs each time with
"Unfortunately we weren’t able to add Apple Music to your account. Please try again or contact us." starts a new tab and puts up a blank page.

        • @barryquinn: Maybe they're overloaded with activation requests or something. Mine doesn't seem to have gone through successfully so I'll just try again later.

        • @kheob: Worked it out yet?

        • @unity1: Yeah. Did it as Hirolol described below. I'm still on the free 3 months from Apple so it didn't let me add it though.

        • @kheob: So did you end up receiving the SMS?

        • @unity1: Nope, no SMS. The Telstra guy did call me back to say it was working though (I rang them earlier).

    • +1

Note that t&c's say if you activate it it will void the remainder of your Apple 3 month trial - I'll be waiting until that trial is over before getting the 12 months from Telstra.

      • Yep, I can confirm it works too. I am on the $39 Staff Plan that came with the iPhone 5.

I logged in, clicked on my mobile plan, selected add-ons on the RHS navigation and the offer was there. Just waiting for the SMS to come through.

    • So, unconfirmed that this is available for existing postpaid users?

    • +3

I've been offered it on the staff cap plan. Yay!

      • It didn't seem to work on the new Staff Connect plans :(

      • How? I thought the cap plan didnt include Iphone 6?

        • Existing plans, even expired ones.

If this was unmetered i would actually be happy to pay for it, otherwise kinda meh
Can really only use it while at home and in that case id rather put on a playlist onyoutube or the radio on.
Still 12 months, i shouldnt be complaining but im an ozbargainer!
    Happy streaming!

    • but you can download music for offline use..

      • Well in that case its not so bad, but still i can connect my phone to iTunes and load music onto my phone.
but i would bet my left nut that its easier to do with the apple music app as iTunes is a real pain to use :/

  • Does anyone know how I can avail this on a corporate plan ?

  • +5

From the FAQ - 6mb per song streaming - ouch, can't see that data lasting long.

    http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Apple-Music/Apple-Musi…

"Data charges apply for downloading the Apple Music app and when using the app. Data usage is aprox 6mb per song when streaming music. You can estimate your monthly data usage at https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/plans-and-rates/dat… "

    • +1

You can download tracks for later listening, so load up the device while on WiFi and then in the My Music section of Apple Music click the Artist drop down near the top and then choose the 'Show Music Available Offline' option which will hide anything that hasn't been downloaded to the device and prevent you accidentally playing those tracks when you are limited to mobile networks.

Edit: You might also be able to restrict data use by going to Settings -> Cellular and in the Use Cellular Data For list disabling the Music app. I haven't tried doing it this way, but I imagine it should work.

    • Booo to this. Cmon Telstra - Free the stream, free the stream!

  • +1

Seriously Data Charges, Grrr… I was looking forward to a MOG type arrangement, but you're basically the cost of the Streaming Service in Data Charges. I'm better off staying with Amaysim and paying for the Plan as the extra costs of data offset any benefits of free service.

Pretty disappointed - was really looking forward to this :(

  • Sorry, we're unable to process your recent CREATE of Apple Music submitted on 2015-08-04 at 11:39:37+10:00. Please contact on 132200 for help.
Wow :/ good work hellstra (jokes i love you guys)

  • Just got the "Sorry, we're unable to process" message…

I'm already on the trial so I wonder if that's what is stopping it?

    • I'm not on the trial but got that SMS too.

  • +1

Hopefully this becomes available for business customers too!

    • Yep.
I am a long time MOG user and on a Telstra business plan.
I will be pushing Telstra to either give me the deal or change my Business plan.
Fact is i signed up to Telstra due to the MOG deal and they have now removed that service from me.

      • Any luck with getting this on a business plan?

  • I am in the minority and dont actually have any Apple devices. Is this of any use if I have an Android Phone?

    • +1

PC works. Android app due sometime within the next few months.

      • thanks. If I can wrangle iTunes on the PC - will it let me download and transfer songs onto the android or windows phone?

        • It's a streaming music service, you don't copy songs from device to device.

        • thanks. We found an old ipad which we I assume we can run it on in the house. Cheers

    • It will be before the years out.

  • Its not unmetered but seems like that there might be Bonus data
(for new and recontracting post-paid customer)

    • +1

Where did you hear about bonus data?

      • Can't disclose more but reliable source :)

  • Why did OP got disabled?

  • I tried to add mine via 24x7 Chat but rejected it based off my Android phone plan. Apparently once Apple Music is ready for Android they can offer the plan.

    • Rumors indicating that android Apple Music app will be available sometime in Sept or Oct, by then Apple Music 12 months free trial will be available to Android postpaid customers

  • I've been on a $45 post-paid account for years and… it worked great! Logged into My Account, went to the Add-ons and there it was. Added successfully. Thanks for the tip on this deal!

    • Yea, the subscription itself worth $11.99 so its a really good deal :)

  • +3

yeah good that its 12 months free but like others said, personally will be useless for me if the data is metered

    • +1

I mentioned it above, but you can download tracks to the phone for listening when not on a network. As such, download what you need while on WiFi and once you're done filter the My Music library to only list tracks that have been saved locally so you don't accidentally access tracks stored online (which will incur downloads).

Works for songs you own and have uploaded to the cloud, as well as anything in the Apple Music library that you'd have available for streaming.

Edit: You might also be able to restrict data use by going to Settings -> Cellular and in the Use Cellular Data For list disabling the Music app.
