Committed cardinal sin of ozbargain and bought one at 3am today even though I didn't have an immediate need for this.

I paid via Paypal yesterday at 8:45am and got both PP and OW confirmation. They have also debited the amount off my account just last night.
I will +1 that. I paid CC and got confirmation straight away. They have also debited the CC already, which I think is a tad cheeky for something that won't be in for the next 2-3 weeks.

I paid with paypal and didnt get any sort of confirmation from officeworks, only a receipt through paypal. My money was refunded today.
I paid with paypal 2am friday, got paypal and officeworks email confirmation, the order appears in my officeworks account but it's been on "open" status ever since. no refund, update or any other correspondence. it does say on backorder in the order details though.
Really? I ordered it around that time as well, but there is absolutely no mention of my order on my officeworks account or anything.
I'd be pretty gutted if i missed out.
Don't feel gutted. None of us have actually got our hard drives yet. There's still plenty'o'cancellin' time :)
My order is still "awaiting allocation, please check again later." I'll be slightly disappointed if it drags out for a couple of weeks then eventually gets cancelled.
I've got a tax invoice for other item that I order on top of the hard drive. It says that my hard disk will be sent and invoiced separately. I then gave them a call asking when it will be delivered. They told me the hardisk is due to be sent on Monday and should arrive Tuesday. So looks like promising guys

I haven't received anything after the officeworks confirmation email and paypal receipt I received on 10/07. hoping that no news is good news.
For those who ordered, I bought this last Fri (10/7/2015). I called OW today and asked them about the next day delivery. The lady told me that it's out of stock and on backorder. She can see that 638 harddisks had been ordered and will arrive on 20/7/2015(Mon). It will take 2-3 business days for them to process and thus I should be able to receive mines by the end of next week. Sounds like they will honor the deal. Hope this helps.

Just got a call from OW, was told that the back order will take 2 to 3 weeks before stock will be available for pick up, I told her I'm willing to wait. Hopefully won't take that long since I ordered when there was like 200 clicks.
I just got a call from office works and they said they wouldn't be restocking the item so I had to get a refund.
When I called, they said it will take 22 business days to get it. They had no stock at all and had to contact the supplier or manufacturer to ship it.. I chose to not get a refund.

Just called them up to cancel it, and get the refund back into Paypal. Decided I didn't really need it when I found a couple of near empty 2TB HD's in my cupboard that I'd forgotten about. Hope the rest of you get one.
I received two messages on my phone today saying "They have to cancel the order and I have to be issued with a refund". When I called just now I stated that I don't want a refund and I am willing to wait a month if that's what it takes to restock. I was told "But they don't have stock".
I've worked in retail for quite a few years and the term "Backordered" is not foreign to me.
I am happy to wait for it but to be told "You have to take a refund" seems misleading to me.
Isn't it my right to wait for something I ordered and paid for ?

while that would seem like the fair thing, unfortunately the laws are written to only support the companies and not the public. even after taking your money they have no legal obligation to supply you with the goods, even if that ends up being months later till they decide to give you a refund….. so companies abuse it and get away with it
I have received no email or communication from Officeworks, only payment confirmation from Paypal. My order status is still stuck on 'Open'.
I would say the pickup orders entirely depend on the store manager, whether the store manager wanted to honour the deal to you or not….
Store manager can't control that, having worked in retail (for a franchise that's about half as big as Officeworks), I can say that whether the store gets stock or not is completely up to the EDI system and the warehouse. Some stores will get lots and some stores will get a few. So it's the luck of the draw really.
I got refunded due to no stock in the state. They wouldn't ship interstate either..

I'm guessing that it will be based on the order time. ie earlier the order, the more likely it will be honoured. The refunded ones are probably the excess that they cannot honour.
Ordered within 30mins of Deal being posted, got my confirmation at 12:35AM.
Called customer service and was told that the deal would not be honored as it was "human error" and they "don't have the stock"
Not sure which it is, but pretty disappointing.
Update: Just got a dispatch email after being told that, I refused the refund and decided to wait until I got the call for a cancellation. Looks like that paid off!
just gotta call asking if my order was correct because i ordered 2 of the same thing (2 orders of 1 drive each) and confirming that they should have stock monday or tuesday.
it seems that the people calling up are getting told no stock and having them canceled but the ones that are waiting patiently arent having that issue. just quit bugging them and let them process it. you are not going to make anything faster by bugging them for info you already should know (from reading the comments here IE htey are awaiting stock) and your just more likely to get your order cancelled.

im not saying its hte ultimate way to get your order but that it seems like when people call up to find out info they get cancelled (going by previous replies) so imo its probably more likely you will end up with something if you jsut let it play out.
I think it just depends who is working at the time imho.
Reading some of the posts at the top, it seems some people who called to ask what happening with their order got told both that they are getting a refund OR they are on backorder and will receive them eventually.I only received a paypal letter and money deducted from my account and now nothing else from them. I did their contact form around 5 days ago and still no e-mail, so i am on hold with them right now to discuss this with one of their reps…I think its fair for me to call them to check that they know about my order after almost a week with no contact what so ever.
So i just got a hold of them over the phone since i had no recieved a phone call or a email receipt just a deduction to my paypal account.
She said it was on backorder, then instantly said that oh wait no it was human error and they are refunding the item its just taking some time.
Then i tried to say well backorder means that the product is coming so i can wait? Then she was like nope it was human error and we arn't honoring that price and it's '
legal'.Then i said that my friend ordered it and called up and they told him he getting one on backorder from the, then she said they were honoring the first 200 or so orders because that is when they had stock…which is a bunch of bullcrap in my opinion, but as someone who works in retail i know that i'm not going to get anywhere talking to her so i just accepted the refund.
So maybe Nosdan is right, no point calling because they will refund you anyway. And if you were one of those '200' people, then you will get it. But if you just leave it, and they dont manage to call the apparent "thousands' of people who made the order and it comes back in stock, you may just get it. who knows.

Nice - is it easily removed and put into a Desktop? Do you have to break the case?
Slotted in a knife underneath and managed to take the backcover off without breaking it. Have no idea if I can put it together again, but from a quick glimpse, it looks possible.
I managed to get the HDD I took out of my desktop and into the case. Not as nicely put together as it came, but works fine.
read somewhere that they have firmware on them that makes them non stable as external drives, don't know how true it was…
If you keep reading the rest of that post, other people commented saying they have no problems. I wonder how many people have experienced problems.
