    • Likewise.. Click & Collect order changed to dispatched. - SYDNEY

      • Did you guys receive a "dispatched" email as well?

        • +2

No dispatched email, just the status in their website under my account.

        • There is no email for Dispatched; they'll email when ready for collection.

  • Picked mine up from the local country OW yesterday afternoon. Seems to be working but I haven't done a drive scan yet.

My status on Officeworks JUST changed to "dispatched" !!!!

Do I need to wait for an e-mail to advise when I can go pick it up or does that mean it's literally at the store for me right now to grab?

    I'm in Western Australia.

    • I tried and got turned away saying to wait for e-mail confirmation… even though their website reckons their store has stock of the 5TB drives too, boooo.

I'll head back this afternoon. I was told "dispatch" means it's on the truck but they haven't gotten it yet, but then all my previous Officework online orders still say dispatched despite being picked up years ago so whatev.

      • Got the e-mail telling me to go pick it up at 2pm! Finally!

        Sweet deal, thanks OzBargain'ers!

  • Just went and picked it up in Brisbane CBD, I did the click and collect, got order is ready to be picked up 2 days ago but only had time to pick it up today.

Paid with paypal and there was no order shown just like others within the OW website.

    Thanks OP

Got email dispatched at 3.16pm and received delivery at 4.39pm today (Sydney 2000 postcode).

  • I got a dispatch message, then a "sorry we missed you" message 10 mins later. Considering it's a work address, and I've been in the office all day, I find it a bit strange.

    • Reception signed for mine. Did you leave a message to allow them to leave with reception? It had to be signed for.

      • Mine wasn't signed for. Just left at the door. I didn't know it was there until I read the 'delivered' email an hour later.

      • I work in a serviced office, and my office door is right next to reception. So I would've seen it if someone came. A note wasn't even left.

Probably not a OW, might of been a courier issue.

    • I got the sorry we missed you email. When I got in to work, the hard drive was there. Strange.

  • Still no click and collect in Sydney CBD. Fail

  • I made my order on the morning of Friday 10th of July but haven't received the email or HDD.

    • Yep ordered mine on the Friday morning, and apparently just got it (got email saying delivered)

  • Received a tax invoice earlier at 9:55PM and it states that despatch date is 23.07.2015. Hoping to receive it tomorrow or by next week (or do I need an actual order confirmation?).

Don't forget you apparently get Free 2 Year access to One Drive
Here is a data sheet on the Drive
    http://www.seagate.com/www-content/product-content/backup-pl…

      • Must be activated by June 30, 2017

      No rush.

      • better do it now, in case you forget or Seagate or Microsoft change their policy. Second option has only 10% probability but first option has 90% probability.

  • back to officeworks mine goes..
arrived yesterday, trying to do a test format failed and a chkdsk threw up a heap of bad sectors..
and seagates own 'seatools' fails on the short test…

Now considering that the item is no longer listed on officeworks site Im going to assume there is no stock.. Hopefully they can organise a replacement rather than a refund

    • ahhh officeworks, always managing to succeed in meeting my underperforming expectations :)
Gave me the 'we don't sell this model anymore' and 'this was the last one we ever sold' and also were unable to offer to send back to Seagate on my behalf

Refund was the only option, so RMA back to Seagate via Sydney is the best alternative considering how much a new 5tb drive costs

      • what a bummer

        • $10 to ship it to Sydney still makes it a cheap drive… And I shouldn't complain about $10 as I spent more than that on a single bottle of beer at the bottle shop down the road from the office works (dealing with officeworks means I earned it) ;)

      • I thought they had to accept it under warranty under law. You can choose to go directly to Seagate, but they can't palm you off..

        • +1

Technically they offered a full refund, which fulfils their requirements.. Me not wanting a refund because it was a bargain probably doesn't work in the consumer laws ;)

        • +2

as far as i understood it they can offer you a replacement, refund or repair? in this case for them its better to offer refunds

      • +4

officeworks, always managing to succeed in meeting my underperforming expectations

Hang on a second, I can understand you're disappointed, but Officeworks came through on the deal and fulfilled a lot of our orders, including yours.

Seagate's Australian online store had stock at the start of this deal, then as everyone waited with baited breath expecting their orders to get cancelled, that stock status changed to "out of stock", and our orders and dreams were soon fulfilled. Seagate's store is still out of stock.

Now, you got yourself a dud drive. It hqppens. It's not Officework's fault. For the price we paid with free delivery, can anyone blame Officeworks for not wanting to spend more money dealing with warranty issues? ;)

They aren't stiffing you by offering a full refund. Your frustration should be directed at Seagate for shipping dud drives. :)

    • Did you run any tools?
Or just the full format and chkdsk?

      • format, chkdsk and then seagates "seatools"

I'm not running any kind of 'recovery' attempting software on a new drive.. One with this many issues out of the box is a 100% 'not worth my data' kind of thing

  • Does anyone's power supply have buzzing noise ?

    • -1

only time i have ever experienced that is when its not pushed into the socket properly (the 240v socket, be it a wall socket or a powerboard)

if it is buzzing certainly dont use it. hugely dangerous (caus fires etc)

      • -1

It could just be the transformer core vibrating as a result of poor construction (e.g. not enough glue). It's not dangerous, but can be annoying. It might change into a whine or disappear when put under load.

      • thanks for the replies, I'll do a bit more testing with your suggestions; othewise I'll contact seagate and see if I can get a replacement power supply.

  • Anyone still awaiting click-and-collect notification? I've only received an order confirmation email and recently a Tax Invoice email with a dispatch date of 23/7/15. Expecting to collect at Officeworks Guildford

  • Got my hard drive on weekend and got extra 200 Gb One drive space for 2 years by registering the product.

Is everyone using Seagate software to backup or any other software?

    • +1

I still use an extremely outdated piece of software called "create synchronicity" as a simple method of file syncing and backup tool.

      Really should update though.

Try Free File Sync, if you want to backup a large number of files, but don't need any additional compression. it's an open source SW but also be aware of additional bloat during installation.

For image file backups I'd probably go with Macrium Reflect Free.
