Could be many reasons, shipped to him using Australia post click and send service or sold something to him and paid for the shipping via paypal ?

I wouldn't like my address posted.. I would edit it.

      • I opened in a new browser and it is still showing his address as mine?

        wtf

I didn't use the link! I went to officeworks.com.au and searched for the drive manually and it still comes up with his details??

        • Just double check your PayPal addresses, as a precaution.
Otherwise, it is something goofy with Office works check out

    • Potentially hacked??

Bought one an hour ago but didn't get confirmation so bought another one on back order delivered in 14-18 days but still no confirmation lol.

    • +13

Buy a 3rd one, just to be sure.

      • Any one else's say rejected in their account

  • +1

Hope it doesn't end up like this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/177605

  • My personal favourite so far:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118375

    • Lol I finally used mine for the first time last month while overseas.

    • I am still using it, was even playing it with my car dashcam with it just the other day..

  • I ordered one and paid thru' paypal, thanks OP.

  • Whats TBC in delivery mean?

    • To Be Confirmed

  • Just got one for pick up.
    Thanks Op!

Anyone know if you can take the drive out and use it in your pc?

    • Probably means "to be confirmed". It should go along with the backorder status.

Internal drive should be a SMR SATA HDD. You should be able to crack the case open and extract the drive.

    • Probably good but its probably 5200..

      • so usb 3 is still going to be quicker than internal drive?

        • +1

no. 5200rpm is the bottleneck whichever way you connect it. sata will always be faster than usb3 under 99% of circumstances

  • Bought 1, thanks op.

    No confirmation email though

    • Just got a confirmation email about store prepping… isn't these on backorder?

btw, paypal took the money straight away, so that's something to consider as someone below asked.

  • +1

    Ordered 1, thanks OP

  • Got one with Delivery, thank OP.

  • +1

Didn't work on mobile, checkout said "an item is out of stock and was removed from your cart" after clicking the payment button.
Works fine on chrome via PC, I received the paypal confirmation but nothing from officeworks??
It doesn't show up in "My Orders" on the officeworks site either….

Edit: Just got email confirmation, the site may be a bit overloded :)

  • Got the conformation email from Paypal and Office works in about 1 minute.

    Order Confirmation

The team at Officeworks would like to thank you for shopping with us online. You will find your order confirmation attached to this email for your reference.

    • According to OW's T&C, that's "offer received" confirmation, not "offer accepted".

  • Ordered with free same day delivery. Let's see how this goes.

  • +7

Thx Trent, have ordered now like everyone else with no issues and paid with PayPal. Will wait patiently for refund.

  • Thanks OP. Just ordered one.

  • ordered, confirmed. Now I'm waiting for pick up confirmation

  • Thanks. Ordered one via mobile. For some reason took forever to go through the checkout process but got same day delivery!
    Also received email confirmation.

  • Great. Time to upgrade the drives in the hp microserver.

  • Bought and confirmed with status backordered

  • On board, we'll see where this one ends up.

  • I currently have a Qnap 2 bay NAS with 3TB capacity, no redundancy.
Since I only use it to access content through the NUC media centre, can someone convince me why I shouldn't switch to this USB HDD as my main media storage solution and sell the NAS?

    • NAS is a standalone network accessible storage, if you want to solely use USB storage you would need to slave it off a PC for network access. I guess you would always direct connect it to your media centre if that's the sole purpose. NAS is also generally faster at serving up data.

  • Is our credit card going to be charged on delivery or upfront?

    • My CC has been charged

      • dam.

  • +1

Bought a 4TB backup plus during the 20% ebay sale and just impulsed this when i only have 2TB worth of data on my computer. WHYYY MUSHH I RACKK DISHIPINE!!!

  • Better to wait for an 8tb deal?

  • -4

I will wait for a 8tb or even 10tb deal, currently using 4x4tb drives, so this wont give much benefits to me.

    • +1

A NAS is not a backup; unless it's backing up another NAS. ;)

      • Agreed. Even RAID isn't bulletproof so I have my NAS which each of the internal drives are periodically backed up to external drives so there's two points of failure.

        • i did that too until my house got broke into and stole my 2 points of failure!

i now have 2 NASs, one is packed away in a wardrobe in the other side of the house, always on and my main nas backs up to this one constantly.

        • @xEnt:

At list the crims have a reliable backup system they can have faith in. :)

I store my externals in a travel bag in my warddrobe, so the biggest risk to my data is when I travel because I'm using both sets of data.

        • I plan to slave this drive off my Synology NAS for periodic backup of critical data.

        • @CLoSeR:

Did you steal xEnt's NAS and backups?

        • +1

          @xEnt:

my parents house is my offsite storage

  • Paypal not working

    • Working for me with no problems

  • removed

  • Thanks OP, ordered 1 as a slave backup drive for my NAS. Perfect!

    • That is what we are planning to do with it.

  • Bought one and got confirmation that it is on backorder. Thanks OP!

    $26 delivery

    • I had a delivery fee earlier as well when I checked out via PayPal. What I did was cancel the payment confirmation via Paypal and redo it again, then delivery is now free.

      • Yeh I saw Paypal added $4.95 the first time I went to pay with mobile client; cancelled and switched to desktop site and it worked fine.

  • Will JB/ TGG price match…?

    • try it and tell us

    • +1

They won't. They will say it is below cost.

      • Yeah that's what I thought. Sometimes you can get lucky tho..

        • also one person might say yes

then when you go to the store
          they say

"no, it is below cost price"

    • +1

Doubt it.. just buy from Officeworks now before deal GONE!

      • Yeah I did buy it from OW but not sure if they will honour it.

  • Great deal! thanks.

  • Does OW honour price errors?

    Because 4tb is $219.00

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/seagate-4t…

  • Thanks OP. Ordered 2.

  • Bought 20 minutes ago and still no confirmation email…

  • Bought with CC and received confirmation email. Don't need it per se, but hey it's 5Tb!

  • Bought just now and got confirmation email almost immediately. On back order too

  • I just bought it and received confirmation

  • +1

Got 2 for click and collect - wowzer. Will probably crack emn open

edit: something weird going on - I paid via paypal and it has a completely wrong shipping address and name!

    • Be weary, there are some reports that Seagate has crippled the firmware on the drives to prevent this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=34052.0

      • +1

        that shit

        can someone confirm this…

cos I want to use as internal drive

        • Isnt the post mentioned it is ok to run as internal drive?
Just have certain % of the drive have problem running under raid array configuration

      • +1

Yes, but the post refers to the 5Tb Seagate Expansion drive. There was a reply from someone who had 9 of the 5TB Backup Plus Desktop (Last post on page 1) and did not have any of the problems.

        • Yeah there are mixed reports in that thread. The main concern area with RAID seems to be on rebuilds and the SMR tech killing performance. I found this thread about the 8TB drives (same SMR tech as this one):

          https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/seagate-8tb-arc…

User describes a rebuild on his 8 drive array w/ 2 drive redundancy and seems to have had no issues.

      • wow!

      • I used these in my synology with RAID with no issue

  • +2

Now we brace ourselves for the cancellation emails.

  • I bought it at 5 AM. Still no confirmation from Officeworks and no money deducted from bank account. Paypal has although sent the confirmation. Not a very good feeling.

    • +1

Yeah I'm in the same boat as you. Expecting a cancellation email instead now!

      Edit:
      Weird…I got charged 69.95

  • Ordered, thanks OP!

    Have received confirmation too…

  • +1

I don't know why it is marked as OUT OF STOCK. I was able to place my order successfully on mobile 5 mins ago. Thanks OP.

    • Cause they're on backorder I suspect.

  • I join the no email confirmation troops.

  • +3

Check back that page frequently and look at the Catalogue Number: SGBP5000GB, when it add with DD or D, your order will not fulfil. That's what happen last few times I order from OW, also it said 4 years of warranty in specifications tab not 3 years like the features tab.

They are getting really messy or just try to have fun with us.

  • Got email confirmation delivery date TBC for store collection

  • My view with this one is I will wait and see what happens. If I get it then "yippee" if I don't get it then I tried. My gut feel is they will back this one out as it is just too cheap, particularly as we are now in back orders. However, it has made my day just reading the comments here. You guys should go on the road.

  • Got email confirmation delivery date TBC.

  • Grabbed a couple to replace my 2TBs. The plan is to sell the old ones which makes this price even better. Gonna be a challenge to fill these up. Still no confirmation email either. Fingers crossed they don't cancel the orders. Thanks OP!

    • Order confirmation email now received.

  • +1

I put in the order at 10am, the site mustve been hammered or my work access is very slow. Accidentally kept adding a new one to my cart, had 4 at one stage til it clicked in my head to stop clicking on order.
Finally got the paypal confirmation, so hope its a nice surprise in a few weeks time when I forget I have already spent the money.

  • This is gonna be fun… I got order confirmation immediately.

  • +3

I'm calling price error, probably should be $249.

Hope I'm wrong and you get your drives eventually, but I think its in the "too good" category.

  • Anyone know if this external drive is compatible with ps4?

  • With 6677 clicks and counting OfficeWorks will order a shit ton of these, deal should go through.
Though I resisted at the PayPal screen had 2 in cart ready to go, already have 2 NAS's and don't keep movies, series or pron anymore. :( :)
