Thanks good deal. May need to confirm chuck size, as the website mentions both 10mm and 13mm chuck size.

    • Pretty sure it's 13

      • No it's 10mm

        • +4

          no its becky

        • Yeah, you're right. It's the older cdd18v2 drill. I thought it was the newer rcd1802. It's 10mm chuck.

        • @truemana:

          No this is Patrick!

  • Looks like a good deal, but wonder when their linked page price will be updated to reflect this

  • +1

… Must resist. Already have 2 drills. Have a feeling it may be 3 tomorrow

    • +18

Only two? You must be new here.

      • +14

can someone show johnno1987 around? his 1st day here, toilets, canteen etc.

        • +3

Alright, you've talked me into it.
Been a part of the community a long time. It's definitely an addiction. I have 4 drills already, I just dont count the 909s as they are useless.

        • +1

          @johnno1987:

          How about Eneloops? Chromecast?

        • +4

@dhie20: 3 chromecast, 1 Apple tv. Not too many eneloops. 16aa and 16aaa chocolates. Heaps of those cheap dick Smith batteries floating around in the plastic still haha.

        • @johnno1987:
          How's your wine collection?

        • +2

@cymon: Dont drink wine, however managed to get a couple of bottles of this

        • @johnno1987: hows the SSDs/microSDs?

        • Make sure you get a couple CREE LED Torches, its a compulsory OZbargainer item, we really should restrict users until they have shown purchases of these torches.

  • +4

Ran the exact same deal around the same time last year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/157266

    • +11

When this was posted a year back it has fetched 12 votes in 4 days. When the exact same item for the same price posted this time it fetched 38 votes in just 90 minutes.
ozbargainers these days.. no consistency at all :)

      • +1

        Must be that damn inflation.

      • +11

        All about the timing.
Friday night, couple of drinks (Winemarket cheapos), feel relaxed……. Need to buy a drill

      • It was bad then and is bad now.

  • +2

I've got enough drills but have always been interested in the other gadgets that work off the One+ batteries. This might be a cheap way to buy in to it.

  • +3

    I'm a sucker for a cheap drill!

    • +21

      thats what she said

    • +1

I spat out my beer at that hahaha

    • I was worried for a sec!
      My dentist is DrKovarik

  • Off to bunnies tomorrow.

  • Thanks, gonna check it out tomorrow. My ni-cad Bosch is destined for the bin unfortunately.

    • You have been bloody good to me mate, but it's time to move on…

  • Wow this is a nice drop from the usual price. I'm down for one, again, not because this particular drill is sensational but because the one+ package offers a lot of options

  • +3

This has to be a pricing error as its 99 on front page yet the link says 299?

    • +1

Interesting that Masters are advertising their Impact Drill & Angle Grinder deal @ $99 tonight, and now this pops up. Surely they've advertised the wrong product @ $99 ?!? If not, this is one hell of a discount !!!

Edit - screenshot of search results … http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/16708/32775/untitled.pn… … shows as $99 in the search results, but when you click the item it shows as $299 on the item details page.

    • Shit loads at my local bunnings, still on a pallet outside the tool store. Normal price still ticketed at $179 but scans at 99. Chick said cant get rid of them quick enough.

  • Sorry, might be a dumb question but would this be suitable to drill into steel frames houses? Cheers

    • +1

Yes. Depending on thickness of steel, might not be the quickest, but will get there eventually.

Remember to buy the right bits.

      • Cheers mate!

        • Yup, decent bits make all the difference. Dont buy a $4.95 drill set and expect to do anything with it.

    • +1

How many holes are you drilling?

A 240 volt drill will do a lot better.

Though main thing is to buy good quality drill bits.

  • +1

Worth it just for the battery packs and charger. I've been looking to grab one of those Airstrike brad nailers, since Dewalt are dragging their heels on bringing out their own, but the price of batteries/chargers was putting me off.

    • +16

Exactly what I was initially thinking… but then looking closer you can see these are the older batteries (the one without the charge level indicator on the front).

For $100 this is a good starter system if you intend to build a One 'system', but just be aware that the batteries and the charger that come with this pack are inferior to the other starter packs (ie this one). http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-compact-drill-drive…
Note the difference in the other bits and in the drill itself (much better).

I've got the polisher, impact drill, and impact driver wrench thing of the Ryobi One system and love them all.
But the batteries that you notice a difference in performance on are definitely the indicator ones (where you press a button to see its charge level- a very handy feature IMO).

BUT I CALL BULLCRAP ON THE $299 ORIGINAL PRICE BTW!!!

I bought this One start up pack- http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-impact-dri…

Which has a superior drill, superior batteries, and better charger for $249.
The claimed $299 original price of the above pack is not its normal price. 100% promise you on that.

The One system is a great package, dont get me wrong. But as Bunnings is the only seller of this product, dont believe the marketing pricing they are quoting here. You really need to think hard on which packs to buy, and which 'skins' (the machines themselves) to buy on their own.

Look carefully at the batteries and charger that come with the above unit.
If you want the better value imo, you're still better off getting a different starter pack with the upgraded batteries and charger.

But for $100, this is still a good starter/intro to One.

      • Thanks for the info!
As far as you remember, has any decent deal on the upgraded kit been proposed?

        • I good deal if you are after a Whipper Snipper is this…..
          http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-305mm-cut-cordless-…

For $90 over the skin price you get the 4Ah battery with power level and a quick charger.

You will notice a huge performance increase with the 4Ah batteries.

        • +1

          @deal88:

Agreed, the 4Ah batteries definitely boost the performance of the machines. Only thing is they quite a bit heavier.
I have two small batteries connected most of the time, and cycle them between the machine I'm using and the charger.
The 4Ah battery comes out when I know I'll be using it a long time (like with the polisher).

Next skin I'm looking to get is the jigsaw.
I have a corded jigsaw that is A PAIN to use with the power cord. Really looking forward to cordless cutting.

          @ Starflex:

Mate, very rare. As I mentioned earlier, Bunnings have exclusive selling rights to Ryobi One, so they can keep the prices where ever they like and people will buy. Best way to buy is a starter pack (hammer drill with two good batteries and quick charger), then skin the rest. I think by memory I went with the impact wrench/driver pack…. it had the same batteries and charger, but was $20 cheaper when compared to buying it as a skin. I then bought skins for the rest.

In terms of discounted pricing very rare. One way to get around it is to buy other branded giftcards when on sale, then use those discounted cards to buy Bunnings giftcards from Coles/Woolies whatever. It's been explained better previously here on OzBargain, but if you do it right you can get 10-20% off. And on say $400-500 worth of One skins and starter pack, you basically get a free skin. Just depends how committed you are :).

      • How would you rate the polisher?

        • Ive got the polisher and its pretty average. Its comfortable to use and its fairly light and portable. But no variable speed is by far and above the biggest problem, since it free spins at 4000rpm its too fast for automotive paintwork, burns and puts marrs into the clearcoat.

180 minutes charge time is a deal breaker for me.

    • My Ryobi 18v batteries don't take that long to charge

      You can't buy online?

      • OP provides a link, which for some reason shows $299 price. Click on Product Details, and it says 180 minutes charge time.

  • Don't ryobi make a quick charger?

    • They're not putting one in the box for this product, not even at $299 apparently.

  • I thought the $299 ver was normally an impact drill with 2 batts but one batt being a 4ah batt.

  • Such a shame, really wanted the 10v for this price…

    • +1

You want less for your money??
      Surely, that breaks OzB rules!

    • you trying to drill warm butter or something?

    • Ahhh… this is the Nicad batteries… not the Lithium one…

      • Ok all good

      • If search for "6210552" the product thumb is $99 for lithium

  • Any chance this is location based or has expired? showing as $299 for me…

  • The torque on this drill is only 45nm. Better than the ozito 18v cordless drill sold for $49 in June which has a torque of 30nm. The 18v Dewalt cordless drill (DCD995) is much more powerful with a max torque of 80nm

    • Exactly, the torque of this Ryobi 18v is about on par with the better 12v tools. As an example, the AEG 12V drill has 40NM, and can be had with an impact driver, a 4.0AH and a 2.0AH battery for $199. Not to mention much longer warranty.

  • Just be warned the charger won't work with the larger 5.0ah batteries.

  • +1

I've had 2 of these batteries fail on me, one regular size and the larger capacity one. Don't think I'd invest anymore in this line.

    • you didn't happen to buy them on ebay did you? A LOT of dodgy repacks with shit/soon to be faulty cells

      • No, all from Bunnings brand new.

  • +8

Not sure what all the excitement is about.

seems like a good price considering it was selling for $299

There is NO WAY that this product was $299 - that is laughable! You can get a proper Dewalt / Hitachi / AEG / Bosch DUAL pack (Drrill/Driver + Impact) with quick charger for that kind of money.
    eg: http://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-drill-driver-impact-dr…

Even the over-priced One+ 13mm hammer with the new batteries is $249…
    http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-impact-dri…

This deal is a cheap and nasty old model drill - it's the NiCD Drill with Lithium battery packs and a crappy charger. Bottom of the Ryobi range and that means only just above Ozito level.

same price, no details on AH but expect bottom of the range as well

    • I'm pretty sure that this is the Ni-Cad model (PSR 14.4) as compared to the Li-Ion model (PSR 14.4 LI-2)

  • Have had this one for more than 2 yrs. Pros: battery does not deplete even after months unused, reasonable power: Cons: slow speed, heavy duty drilling leads ti quick battery depletion, long charge time. Verdict: excellent for someone like me who uses a drill a few times a year but needs it to be ready when needed.

NB. Dont agree with above comment that its 'crap'. Its good for small/odd jobs, but then its not a $600 tradies tool.

    • +2

NB. Dont agree with above comment that its 'crap'. Its good for small/odd jobs, but then its not a $600 tradies tool.

It is a $100 drill. It's not any more crap than other $100 drills.

Any brand of $100 lithium drill will be "good for small/odd jobs".

But like a $5 bottle of Red Wine, it's only "good" until you taste something better.

  • lol man don't really need so many drills just like woman don't really need so many pairs of shoes bahahahhaa

  • Crap this is a bargain :/

But I already have two ryobi drills and two of these batteries and a proper fast charger.

hmm this couldnt have been $299 as this is $199 http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-compact-dr…

  • I still use the cheap 10.8 volt from aldi for small jobs it is fine. Any drill at this end of market is fine providing is used for small jobs.

    Cordless drill nirvana:

    https://sydneytools.com.au/milwaukee-m18cpd-502c-18v-fuel-13…

Used one once, it was love at first touch. Had to buy one, there will never be another cordless drill :) words can't describe just how good, powerful, smooth, that these bad boys truly are.

Sometimes u get what u pay for. This is one of those times. I'd almost say that Yoda would trade in his light sabre for it :) "drill you must!!!" "May the screw be with you"

Nothing wrong with the Ryobi!! Fantastic for the price. BTW.

    • Couldn't agree more. After ryobi's and an embarrassingly brief flirt with a pathetic 24v Aldi Taurus I decided I was sick of playing around with cheap drills and bought one to last:

      https://sydneytools.com.au/milwaukee-m18cdd-202c-18v-2-0ah-f…

While batteries are only 2Ah they last a surprisingly long time, and with them fitted the drill is exceptionally light, which is great if you're using it for extended periods of time. I bought a 4Ah battery at the same time I bought the 2Ah kit, and I now wish I hadn't bothered because haven't had to use the larger battery yet.

For $249 it's an absolute bargain.

how about this one? It is Li-ion battery and same price, would this one the better buy than the Ni-cad kit?

    • +4

That's the one posted as the deal

  • Picked up one at Oxley, QLD. At least 10 left, no one else was interested in them while I was there.

There was also a 18v li-ion Bosch impact driver combo kit next to it for $199: http://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-1800-li-2-li-ion-cordless-d…

  • +2

If you're in Townsville none were delivered to Domayne, about 10 left at North Shore and they were delivered to Fairfield as well.

  • 7 at Artarmon

    • 4 left now. I wonder how many ozbargainers lurk around bunnings without my knowing. Someone should make an ozbargain sensor app. When you walk past a fellow ozbargain it beeps. Could be like nintendo. Ozbargain Battle!!!

  • +1

In SA, there were none at Windsor Gardens, Modbury, Prospect or Parafield Gardens. The three latter stores show stock but they say it's a stock discrepancy.

I don't think we should look at this product as if it was $299, much better drills have cheaper everyday prices than that, but $99 is a fair price.

    • +1

The guy working in the tool section told me they were delivered early to the stores so they jacked the price up to $299 so no one would buy them. Ryobi wanted them as a pre fathers day sale. There are better Ryobi drills with bigger batteries for around $199. Not bad for $99 , I grabbed one.

    • I went to Parafield had heaps left

      • Maybe the dude on the phone didn't know, system said 11 in the morning but he didn't know where they were… Anyway I was upsold to the hammer drill kit, sold it to me for $129 as he couldn't get me the $99 driver drill.

    • I went to Parafield had heaps left

    • Marion, plenty on shelf, no signage of discount. Staff member told me about the discounted price after I spent 5-10 minutes looking around trying to find the deal :)

  • +1

I have owned and still have and use this drill for everyday stuff around home and I can say you get more then what you pay for. I owned mine for over 2 years and it just works.
The one + range is fantastic as well.

I have the multi tool, blower, drill.

I also own a big kit of dewalt for work You can tell the difference between one that for handyman stuff and the other for heavy duty work so you can't really compare and the price reflects that.

I know a few fitters that use the one+ range and they say it's pretty good.

    • Agreed, the one+ range is great for the average joe around the house.

  • My Ozito 12v cordless on sale for $49 has done well well over the last year or so.

Time to go hunt me a Ryobi for the future.

  • Cranbourne (VIC) have about 5 left. Grabbed myself one I couldn't resist.

  • +1

Just bought one to go with all the other Ryobi lithium gear I have (blower, hedge trimmer, line trimmer)… it does the job for the average person around the house. If you are a tradie or have serious need for a drill obviously you probably want to look at something else.

  • This cordless drill may be alright for general home use.

    • +8

Are you sure? I swear I heard somewhere they were using this $99 drill for coal seam gas exploration.

  • +1

Nothing here in Rydalemere, computer says 11 in stock, staff can't find any. Grrrr not happy

    • +1

      You know the drill….
      OzB'd again

      • +1

It was 945am, i guess they were lining up this morning. I really need this drill instead of the ozito. But luck came my way, Went to seven hills, they had 15 hidden on the top shelf, sneaky staff. It's great, just started drilling holes for no reason.

  • -2

    1.3AH lol

    • I saw the same drill with instead of the 2x 1.3Ah it was 2x 1.5Ah plus 100pce drill set.. but $100 more..
You reckon the 1.3Ah isn't enough?
