Breville The Dual Boiler Espresso Coffee Machine BES920 $1079.20 (C&C) @ TGG eBay

Breville BES920 Website

Had been interested in the deal going here for the Breville BES870 but knew I wanted to move towards a dual boiler model to be able to pull a shot and steam the milk at the same time etc.
Also from looking in store today before ordering, has a nicer build quality and feels a bit sturdier. Also an easier manual mode to use.

Says on description comes with a Smart Grinder. Have called and confirmed this is the Breville Smart Grinder Pro BCG820 - Retails at $299 however cheapest on sale is around $199.

Only thing I added on was a Knock Bin so I could get 20% off as well. Cheapest for that model I could find currently, but has been much cheaper before. I am also pretty sure you can get much cheaper ones from elsewhere.

Also available for delivery from about $10 extra.

Don't forget your 2.5% back cash rewards.

  • Damn. Had it in my cart from yesterday. Now out of stock :-(

  • I got mine delivered today (yes I paid the extra 10 bucks for shipping) and it came within 2 days!
You definitely have to get two boxes. The grinder box is huge as well. the machine looks absolutely awesome!
Really happy with this purchase, just made our first coffee, but the beans were a bit old and I have to get used to the machine. In saying that, it was still better than our old Saeco automatic machine!
Sorry to the ones who missed out!

    • Mine is for delivery tomorrow. I hope they shipped both items. If it was organised by the back dock guys rather than the floor coffee machine people I guess it could have been missed.

    • So, I rang their support as I had received an email receipt which only had the machine listed and not the grinder. At this point I wasn't worried about not receiving both, just wanted a receipt as suggested about, should I ever need to claim warranty.

Just received a call back saying yes they have forwarded a receipt onto me, but also hadn't shipped the grinder to me in the first place. Had already missed the delivery for the machine today at home, so hopefully both will make it to me tomorrow for when i have rescheduled it.

Also as below, back in stock on eBay for anyone who missed out.

    BACK IN STOCK ON EBAY!!!!

only has the option for shipping so $1,088.85 all up

    • Lock it in.

    • Thanks, got one. I could still click and collect at my local (Gepps Cross, SA).

  • In stock again now!!

  • Thanks just ordered but was wondering if the price was worth the premium over the single boiler machine?

    • I guess it depends on how much you care about your coffee. Dual Boiler you wouldn't have to wait for machine to repressurise to start frothing milk. It would be instant steam straight from pulling a shot.

    FFS I missed it again.

    • Got one! Thanks OP for the great deal.

  • Purchased + pick up available in the Brighton store. Was at Myer tonight and asked if they'd price match as we'd been looking at this or the Oracle for a while and wanted to be able to use our engagement and wedding vouchers there - couldn't event get near it!

Fed me a heap of officeworks sounding excuses saying they're not a store front, different warehouses, yadda yadda yadda, I show him the deal and notice it's no longer expired! So I bite my tongue, 'thank' the man and head home, jump online and buy myself a new machine. Got myself a knock box to go with it. Pretty happy camper! Great deal.

Cheapest I'd seen this package month's back when we were looking was around the $1400 mark including the grinder.

Gonna see if they have any black ones in stock and if they'll let it fly, not fussed with the SS otherwise.

Cash rewards made it that little bit sweeter! ;)

Have asked a few times, both in store and on the phone at their central number, reckon they can't even order a black one. Really would have rathered but oh well.

      • Yeah not overly fussed, either will do! I actually prefer the SS, but the black just looks easier to keep clean (says the wifey). The SS looks classier IMO anyway.

        • Same reason I wanted a black model machine was easier to keep clean. Along with looking a bit nicer. The cranberry in store actually looks really nice too.

        • +2

The only bits that need wiping down are SS regardless of the model colour. So the colour is just aesthetics and won't make it any harder or easier based on choice. The only bits to wipe down are the tray and the panel with the water reservoir window.

  • Hopefully get to pick mine up today and start having a play.

This will personally be my first manual/automatic machine. Have had little experience with them previously, but nothing in terms of the whole fresh beans vs. pre-ground vs. roasting your own, etc. Gonna be doing my typical pedantic research (perfectionist/photograhper/over-analyst) and see what peeps in Melbourne have narrowed it down to seeing as this is such a common package people go for.

Any long term users recommend upgrading the warranty? I feel these machines can be a bit of a time bomb/hit and miss with things that can go wrong. The old "peace of mind" insurance is reasonably priced given the saving already, I'm usually one that adds it and it has saved me before with camera purchases.

This is where you need to pay for these things on a credit card with extended warranty insurance. Cards like the HSBC platinum card have this insurance and comes with zero annual fee. From memory they double the manufacturer warranty.

      • Hmm I paid using my credit card via PayPal, via the ebay app on my phone. Long story short, internet at home isn't working and didn't have access to a desktop.

Would that still qualify? Knowing PayPal and ebay aren't affiliated anymore, I was looking for a separate payment option in the app, but it only had PayPal, so I just went through with it rather than miss out on the deal.

Im a Commonwealth Diamond awards CC holder - used my AmEx one. Will have to look into it before I pick-up. Thanks for the reminder.

  • Sold out again.

  • Hey guys

Congratulations to those who pulled the trigger and received stock.

I can't seem to find the answer anywhere on coffeesnobs - but I understand that recent BES920 models have been shipped with a more square shaped double basket (single walled). It's meant to resemble more of a VST style basket.

Does anyone know how much coffee (18g, 19g or 20g or more) the "newer style" breville double basket is intended to hold? I've been experimenting between 18 to 22g using kitchen scales.

    Thanks

    • I've read so much stuff in the last few days its crazy.

Haven't used the double basket yet, but understand it should be 18 to 19g.

Trying to get the single basket dialled in still. Currently dosing to 13g, with the grind at 11. Getting quite a wet puck, but getting about 30ml in 30 seconds. Finding it really hard to tell blonding though with the spouted permafilter.

Also my milk skills are awful, getting much more cappuccino than latte.

      • Thanks. I too read that the double was meant to be about 18 or 19g, which I couldn't comprehend given the single basket uses 13g (I too am using 13g in the single basket).

I don't think it's an issue with a fairly wet puck.

I've only been using manual mode whilst getting used to grind, tamping and all other variables. I'm pulling reasonable shots at about the 35 second mark.

        • I wouldn't say any of the coffee I had made so far was "good". Going to book in some lessons soon.

  • I just received mine also. Leaving it unopened for now, as I am (unfortunately) strangely still attracted to the BES810 I have been using, as it makes coffee I like, and I will need to find more space to use the BES920.

    I may just return it.

    • I missed out on the deal. Let me know if you're still keen on letting it go.

      • Sorry toasty21 it's already gone back….

        • No dramas. It was a long shot ;)

      • i'm gutted i missed out too. Need to upgrade my current Silvia!
