Access More Netflix Movies and Shows + BBC iPlayer and Hulu Plus - $15 for 12 Months @ uFlix

1280
oeck

Edit: sorry everyone, didn't realise ozbargain expires the deal the day after it is set. We will keep the deal running through until Monday night (tonight).

Hi everyone,

This offer is for a 12 month subscription to uFlix for $15.

uFlix is a service that allows you to expand your Netflix content library using technology known as smartDNS. It also allows you to unblock Hulu and BBC iPlayer.

By masking your location and making you appear in a different country (region), Netflix will display different content depending on where you tell it you are. This is simply done by a click on your uFlix control panel.

How do I use my coupon?
Once you sign up for free, go to "subscription" in your control panel and type in "Oeck" in the coupon box and click save.

Deal Information:
After much discussion we have decided to run one last deal for uFlix. Later this year we are going to be changing the company name and expanding services we provide (Free VPN's, Paid VPN's, more channels, more devices, apps). OzBargain is a great community and we will run this deal one last time for the people who missed it last time. All uFlix customers will have free account upgrades with the release of uFlix v2 (which will change its name to Oeck).

Please note, you will only have until the 14th to make the payment. This deal can not be stacked on top of the two week free trial we offer.

I will be here to answer any questions you guys have and I look forward to speaking to all of you.

Thanks.

  • Looks a good deal, but what is the difference between getflix and uflix?
Getflix is dearer but gets a lot more channels? Am I missing something ?

  • Hi Rep. Couple of months ago I subscribed to trial and it did not work due to IPV6 cannot be disabled on my router (D-LINK DIR-850L), according to your technical support. I wonder this issue has been overcome?

    • Hi,

IPv6 will be available later on as a feature of Oeck. uFlix does not currently support it.

      Thanks.

  • +1

    Very happy user here.

Wish there were more regions now as only one has gone live since launch. Know there are all coming and I have sooooo much to watch atm but do want more regions.

Still, am a very happy user.

    • Hi Miso,

We have been focusing our efforts on Oeck. So we will add new regions to uFlix, but since uFlix is going to become Oeck, you will see a lot of new regions there.

I'm happy to hear you are a happy customer :)

      Thanks.

  • -5

Well I was interested. But my enquiry is clearly being ignored and I highly suspect it was the rep who negged my last comment. Lost a potential customer there. :)

    • +2

      You are kidding.
You expect a company representative to give a comparison of his companies product, to that of a rival?
What purpose would that serve? Would you really expect an unbiased reply?

To be clear, I'm not affiliated in anyway with Uflix. In fact, I'm currently using Getflix.

    • That was actually me. Hello.

    • You are quite welcome to compare yourself instead of leaving it to a rep. uflix lets you access other netflix country libraries and hulu, i believe unblockus does that and more, however you do pay more if i understand correctly.

  • Can someone explain the real benefit here? I wouldn't want the DNS on my router or even my xbox always set to a different countries DNS. Do you manually enable this everytime you want to watch a movie?

    • Hi carlitos,

The DNS set in your router or device will only make you appear in a different country for channels only. Anything else you do remains unaffected. You do not need to change your DNS once set.

      Thanks.

      • By channels do you mean netflix traffic only? Not sure what you mean by channels?

        • Hi carlitos,

Channels are things we unblock. So right now the channels are Netflix, Hulu and BBC.

          Thanks.

  • Anyone know if I change the DNS on my LG Smart TV with Freeview Plus will it kill the freeview plus content as Im thinking it might go crazy if it doesnt think im in AU??

    • Hi britta,

I am not sure what is on the Freeview Plus, but it should work. We only make you appear in a different country only when you access Netflix, Hulu, and BBC. But feel free to try it to make sure :)

      Thanks.

      • Worked a treat!!!! Awesome!!

        • Great :)

  • hi, if i am already a member on the monthly subscription, can i change to this?

    • Hi parismeow,

Yes. You can cancel your monthly membership and use this promo instead.

      Thanks.

  • Is it similar to unblock-us but cheaper?

  • Hi, just checking, if i get 1 subscription, would I be able to use it in two different sites? (home and office for example)

    • Hi Zinger,

Yes you will. However, you will only be able to use it at one location at a time. So you can't have someone at home using uFlix and you using it at the same time at the office. But you can use the service on either.

      Thanks.

      • Great. Thank you for clarifying!

        • You're welcome.

I should also mention. Oeck will allow multiple simultaneous connections to the service.

          Thanks.

  • +1

Does this work with other UK TV players, e.g ITV, C4 and channel 5?

    • Hi cooperdog,

Not yet. uFlix supports BBC iPlayer, Netflix and Hulu only. Oeck will support others.

      Thanks.

  • Do you support premierleaguepass?

    • Hi morgs640,

      Sorry, no we don't.

      Thanks.

      • No plan to?

        • We can add it to the list for Oeck, but I can not guarantee any sort of time. But it will be added at some point.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix: cheers will keep an eye out.

        • @morgs640:

          No problem :)

  • i am going to renew my subscription with netflix. good timing.

    • Excellent :D

  • hey reppy,
    Thnaks fot the deal :)

I have an odd question - I WiFi hotspot from my phone when using Netflix because I have a particularly awesome data deal.
Is there any work arounds that will work with an Android phone? Possible in the future if not?

    • +1

      Hi King,

uFlix can't get around this as 3G/4G is not compatible. Oeck however will be able to work on your 3G/4G network. Unfortunately uFlix is not compatible with it.

      Thanks.

  • can someone help me? i have a netflix account and i registered for hulu then changed my ipad dns settings like the instructions said. how do watch netflix in other regions now?

    • Hi endlless,

It should be automatic. If your uFlix control panel page has Netflix set to USA, go to Netflix and search for "Futurama". If it is there, it is working. If not, submit a ticket via your uFlix panel.

      Thanks.

      • haha great another issue for me! netflix isn't loading now. i'll submit another ticket :P you guys are freaking amazing at replying

        • +1

We take pride in customer service :) The faster we can help you out, the more movies you can watch :p

          Thanks.

  • Great deal, was umming and ahhing on so many services like this but for $15 def cant go wrong. Signed up, setup the xbox and straight only netflix US. fantastic. ill attempt to set up the router and chromecasts at a later date as i feel the netflix app is a bit clunky compared to the tablet versions

    • Great to hear :D Welcome to uFlix :)

      Thanks.

  • I have issues with this service where the region switching doesn't work.
I don't know if it's a user error, but I switch the region, wait for it to apply, keep hitting refresh on Netflix and it won't change regions.

I've logged two support tickets about this.
One ticket where switching regions actually stopped Netflix from working altogether, I could reach the main site but after logging in Netflix would time out, multiple region changes would not work and the only thing that fixed it was going back to the original region I started with that day.
The second ticket was where the region switching just didn't work, or would take several minutes to work.

I've had the same problem today, even setting the region to Turn Off still did nothing and I was stuck with US Netflix. I can't be bothered logging new support ticket about this as it seems it's just regular behaviour of the service.

I'm annoyed I paid for 12months up front, otherwise I'd be switching to Getflix.
If anyone else has had this experience please say so, or if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong causing it to fail.
I have it set up in the Network Card settings in Windows 8.1. I've tried clearing cookies to see if that helps but to no avail.

I hope other people get a more reliable service with uflix than I do.

    • Hi legiong,

There is most likely a cache issue on your device. Was your issue resolved in both tickets you submitted? I can look it up to confirm if you like?

      Thanks.

      • The issue was resolved in both tickets.
I've been with uflix for about 3 months and I've had region switching issues at least 5 times.
        It seems an unstable service.

Do you get many reports across your user base of region switching failing?

        • Hi legiong,

No we don't. The very vast majority of tickets are due to the customers IP changing and requiring them to just log back in to uFlix.

If your ticket was sorted both times, it sounds very much like a cache issue with your devices. If you run into this problem in the future, do the following.

          Computer -
Step 1. Clear cache in the browser.
          Step 2. Close the browser.
          Step 3. Flush your DNS.
          Step 4. Open browser.
          Step 5. Try again.

          Other Devices -
Step 1. Log out of Netflix and completely shut down the app.
          Step 2. Restart your device.
Step 3. Log back into Netflix via your app.
          Step 4. Try again.

You should not need to do this with every region change. However, sometimes devices do odd things, and usually it is cache related.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix:
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind for next time.

It just confused me as to why sometimes it works perfectly and other times it's terrible.

          Hopefully your suggested fix works.

        • @legiong:

          Hi legiong,

If not, submit a ticket. But chances are (from what you have said), it is a cache issue. I am 99.999% sure on that.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix:
I tried exactly as you said, and I'm unable to connect to Netflix Australia. Website times out.

I'm running a Windows 8.1 HTPC. I guess my device is doing something odd.

        • @legiong:

Did you set it to "Turn Off" in your uFlix region page?

        • @uFlix:
Nah I set it to Australia.

Interesting update though, I gave up that and decided to try Germany, when I refreshed the browser (I didn't clear anything this time) now it loads Netflix Australia.

        • @legiong:

Try switching it to "Turn Off" and see what it does. It should show AU Netflix. Then try another region.

Since you are in Australia, you should set your region to "Turn Off" when you want to view Australian content.

          Thanks.

  • Signed up for 12m. Super easy to use. Very happy :-)

    • Thank you very much! Welcome to uFlix :)

  • Sounds great!!

So I signed up, now I can't even find where to change my DNS.
Stupid PC says not connected to a network? But obviously on the internet????

Could have something to do with the Leffe beers I bought today from the Dans deal posted earlier!! (They let me buy them in store. hehehe…)

    Aaarghhh….
Wanted to watch season 4 of Suits tonight.

Even my phone is not letting me save the DNS settings??

Help please, I have been looking for a deal like this for weeks.

    • Hi brrtbudget,

Please submit a support ticket and you will get help.

      Thanks.

  • As this unblocks Hulu and BBC iPlayer, does it just unblock for the free trial period? Or is it unblocked permanently without a subscription?

    • +1

      Hi dazzza,

It permanently unblocks iPlayer as iPlayer is free. It will unblock Hulu during the hulu trial period and during the subscription period. You will however need a Hulu subscription once your Hulu free trial expires.

If you meant your uFlix trial - Once your uFlix trial runs out, nothing will be unblocked anymore.

      Thanks.

      • Thanks, yeh sorry I meant the hulu trial, didn't know BBC was free.
Totally understand when uflix trial is over so is the unblocking :)

        • No problem :)

  • Tunlr is free

  • Has anyone got this working with Netcomm NB604N wirless router ?
Somehow even if I disable Ipv6 on the router..it translates to IPV6 for netflix

    nslookup www.netflix.com
    Server: NB604N.Home
    Address: 192.168.1.1

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: www.us-west-2.prodaa.netflix.com
    Addresses: 2620:108:700f::36f4:7e07
    54.214.238.187
    Aliases: www.netflix.com
    www.us-west-2.netflix.com

It however works, if I configure DNS directly on my Windows and disable IPV6..

But I need to get this working by configuring the router itself ..as I don't have option to provide DNS in my TV :(

  • Does anybody know how to configure manual DNS on a Netgear CG3000 (that was provided by Optus)?
Not a lot of Advanced options and I don't see a way to do it from the menu…

    • Hi tpopi,

Optus routers have this option disabled. You will need to set it up directly on your device.

      Thanks.

      • I have done that on all my devices, but for some reason, I don't always get US Netflix connection - seems random - just not reliable enough. Was hoping setting DNS on router would stabilise it.

        • Disable IPv6 in your router. It is most likely causing the issue. Please submit a support ticket to confirm.

          Thanks.

  • I set it up in my router, uflix DNS set on the pppoe link and dhcp server. Set 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to have static routes to the routers IP as I use Chromecast. Rebooted everything. I could browse the Netflix library but couldn't play any videos without error… Any ideas?

    • Hi MrNeil,

Please submit a support ticket for troubleshooting.

      Thanks.

  • What's the difference between this and unotelly? Does this have NRL live stream proxy?

    • Hi komatosis,

Sorry, we don't have NRL available. We only do Netflix, Hulu and BBC iPlayer at the moment.

  • This is fantastic. Fairly easy to set it up. It really allows me to see different movies & series which are available in different regions. Love it! Will definitely sign up for the offer. Really value for money, especially there will be further improvements in future.

    • +1

      Great! Welcome to uFlix :D

If you like it now, I can't wait to see your reaction when we launch Oeck :D

      Thanks.

      • May I know how do I use it on BBC iPlayer? On the uFlix, it gives the option for selecting region for Netflix but not BBC iPlayer. So how do I get it to Unblock BBC IPlayer? Lastly, if I do sign up for Hulu, will uFlix recognise it & also provide option to select "region-US" to access Hulu? Thanks again.

        • Hi alexykfu,

BBC iPlayer is automatically set. Just go to http://www.bbc.co.uk and it will work (it will not matter what Netflix region you have selected). Hulu is the same, it is automatic.

          Thanks.

        • @uFlix: Thanks for your usual prompt reply. Great customer service. Just purchase for 12 mths at your discounted price. Really happy with the trial period with Netflix of different region. Thanks again & look forward to future upgrade.

        • @alexykfu:

Thank you very much! I am sure you will be happy with the future features and added channels.

          Thanks.

  • Nice work rep. When will this offer end?

    • Hi ITveteran,

Sunday will be the last day you can subscribe. So feel free to test it out over the weekend and if you like the service purchase a subscription.

      Thanks :)

      • Thanks rep. My hat off for your excellent customer service. Cheers.

        • Thank you very much :)

  • Tried on a previous free-trial, but found that US Netflix was slow enough to cause the video to pixelate and break up.

I have a 100Mbps cable connection with an Apple TV connected via Ethernet, so I was unsure what was causing this - maybe Perth is at the end of a very long string of hops from the US?

(Will probably try again anyway with this deal, but any clues welcome)

    • Usually it takes several minutes before the software senses your connection is good enough for HD. I guess this may be due to the higher latency despite you are on 100mbps.

      • This is correct.

  • I am looking at doing this with my parents PS3

    2 questions

    1. I won't be able to update the IP address frequently - any issue with setting a Static address?
      per this - http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3…

    2. I believe i will also have to use port forwarding on the modem with this static address then it should work (is this assumption correct?)

    Thankyou

    • Hi sraven373,

The IP we use to identify you is from your ISP. This, unless it is static (to your modem), will change from time to time. To update it, you just need to login to uFlix from any device on your home network.

      Thanks.

      • +1

thanks for the fast response :)

        • You're welcome :)

  • Thanks
My husband even worked it out (with a little help )
    Grandsons very happy

    • Great to hear :)

  • I was trying out a dns service the other day on my la;top, I was able to stream netflix US on my PC but when I tried to push it to my chromecast it didn't work (cnat recall the exact message. Would this be because the chromecast knew I was in Aus so it crapped out?

    • Yer, chromecast uses google dns forced so it knows where you are regardless. Work around would be to stream the chrome tab rather than netflix itself. It's not as perfect but it gets the job done.

      • ah ok thanks, bit of a bugger as streaming the tab messes with the resolution

    • Hi ellave,

Just set up static routes ( https://uflix.com.au/troubleshooting/ ) and it should work.

      Thanks.

  • Thanks Rep.

    Will give it a go.

    • You're welcome :)

  • Hi Rep. Does this somehow affect unmetered netflix on internode? read somewhere that for netflix to be unmetered, internode DNS must be used

    • You are correct, if you use this service it will no longer be unmetered and will count towards your monthly quota. It is only unmetered if you are using you ISP's default DNS.

EDIT: I may not be correct, will wait for rep to confirm/destroy me.

    • Hi djprima,

If you set your Netflix region in uFlix to "Turn Off", you will keep unmetered data on Australian Netflix (no need to change our DNS back to your ISP's). However, watching any Netflix region other than Australia will incur data.

      Thanks.

      • Oh crap. Really! I did not even think about that! Bugger!

Im with Optus who offers unmetered Netflix

        • Hi britta,

Yep. Selecting "Turn Off" will make your Netflix unmetered. However, it is only Australian Netflix. The other regions will still be metered. However, there is no need to change your DNS once it is set.

          Thanks.
