Omg seriously good deal. Love both these places and good points earner for velocity as well. If only I had more leave…

    • +1

What is it that makes it a good points earner for Velocity? Do you mean because you get 1 point per mile?

  • +1

I would love to go abu dhabi just for food i love food, i am looking in to it.

  • +17

What about deals for females? I find this post incredibly sexist!

    • I reckon you should neg the deal because of that ;)

      • +2

I would but a deal is a deal regardless of who is ineligible.

    • good one. funny bugger.

    • have you actually ever been though? or is this based on assumptions and hearsay?

      • +7

        Lol.

No. They are offering cheap flights from Australia to "Male"…

        • +13

I will see myself out. Need coffee obviously.

    • TRIGGERED

      • +15

Pretty sad tourists come to Australia, the very same country that keeps children locked up in prisons for not having the right bit of paper.

        • -3

You forgot to mention the parents, who just want to suck the Australian tax payer for all its worth.

Pretty pathetic you would even compare Ausrtalia and ISIS. One rapes, kills, beheads people on a daily basis…

        • -3

You do realise more mosques more Islamic schools means more paramattas.

The more of their culture you allow to be recreated here the more it will reproduce the violence and madness of their old homelands.

  • +1

Brilliant price with an ok airline!

  • +18

Cheaper than the flights to the Grand Finals this weekend

  • +4

Anyway of staying longer in abu dhabi ? Any flights in feb?

    • Any answers to this good question?

  • +46

What's the difference between Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

People in Dubai don't like the Flintstones, while people in Abu Dhabi dooooooo….

    I'll see myself out.

    • +6

Actually, I'm not even mad, that's amazing.

    • +1

      you got that from reddit?

      • +8

        Yes

        • +7

          +1 for honesty

    • +1

Ok I admit it. I don't get that.

      • Yabba Dabba Doo!

    • That got me a good loud chuckle at work.

    • They should totally rebrand UAE tourism promotion campaigns with this.

  • +3

Any ozbargainers keen to go on a meetup trip.

    • +3

      must be Male?

    • :) i packed my luggage lets gooooooo..

  • Note it is an Islamic state, outside of the resorts there is no alcohol and you may get abused, especially if you are female. This is my experience. I have been to other Islamic countries and never had an issue.

  • I love male.

    • +8

Can you get a flight from Male to Bangkok?
Or is that not a direct route?

      • +11

You wouldn't be able to fly straight there. You'd have to bi pass Thailand on the way.

      • Only if you're a ladyboy

  • +3

Bloody hell, now I'm wasting the whole afternoon planning a trip back to the Maldives, with little hope of affording it.

    • +4

Stick around this site and you'll ALWAYS be farting through silk, my son.

  • what's an ozbargain website for resort accomodation in Male?

  • +1

Gee thats cheap….$926 ex Hobart return. Bucketload of status and points to boot

    • how many SCs? I'm too lazy to do the calcs :P

  • This must be the funniest ozbargain post I read in a while. Jokes flying everywhere..

  • +6

Just letting everyone know… that decent hotels in the Maldives charge over $500 USD per night and that is not including food and drink.

Its the number one luxury honeymoon destination in the world so they jack up the prices hardcore……

Most people only stay there 3 or 4 nights so its the YOLO mentality

Plus when you get there food is crazy expensive.

    You have been warned

    • +1

there are smaller islands with cheaper accommodation. they are isolated from the masses and not a party haven.
These islands have a muslim local population, so alcohol is not available. If you can live with that and don't need "5 star" luxuries, you can save hundreds with the right research.

  • yes its the the airfares but the exxy accommodation. some of which you have to catch a resort plane to get to! very fancy and if i go i will want the whole experience. snorkelling from my over the water bungalow and star gazing and picnic in private beach etc

  • +17

the author of this post has copied the deal from http://www.fly4free.com/deal/australia-and-oceania/abu-dhabi…
giotrono, I think you should give credit where it is due

    • +2

      Agree.

Although it's a good deal, I revoked my vote to discourage such behaviour.

    • Agreed!
And I just noticed the author was you!
Props for not disclosing that in your comment. It would've been easy to be like, "um wtf I posted this first".

    • +11

Yeah let's all just stay here and let our ignorance of others grow while we make tin foil hats.

I'm all for Australian tourism but stop trolling.

      • +1

He does has a point. I mean Aussie politics is the best (If you like comedy) hehe.

      • What part of shariah law do you need to experience and learn from ?

    • Safest…the best…ha…hahahhahaHA~!

      • Better than Safer than any UAE city.

    • Where is the safest and best country on Earth? Lets all be too fearful to go anywhere in case 'They get us' hehe

      • +1

        best country on Earth?

        Depends on the individual

        safest

Arguably Japan. One of the few places where people don't steal wallets left by tourists. They even go one step further: they hand the wallet to the police. And the police don't steal it either, mind you.

      • -3

Well if Abu Dhabi is so great why dont you go live there ?

Thats right its a shithole that you wouldnt want to stay more than a short while. Your money is supporting their backward systems when you go there.

        • +1

Don't make me come over there and hug you nine cents. Here I am spreading love all over the world. I recommend meditation for you my friend:))

  • +1

Maldives is a very expensive destination in terms of accommodation and activities. Just keep this in mind before booking your flights

  • +1

Rate these countries in terms of human rights:

    1) UAE (Abu Dhabi)
    2) Saudi Arabia
    3) Qatar

    • -1

Depends on what human rights are to the individual. It's subjective.

      • I guess attitudes to atheists (nonchalant, jail, kill) would be a good start as any?

        • That would be a start. If all of us on earth could love each other a little more it would be a start.

    • +1

It is a good point. I'm not really an "ethical traveller" but when you consider countries that somehow manage to be the richest, most developed (i.e. are capable of rapid change) AND most cruel — I try to avoid them.

Especially when there is egregious, institutionalised barbarity that is supported by the majority in the country (e.g. treatment of women in general, particularly rape victims; LGBT, blasphemy/apostasy, anyone who dares challenge the status quo etc etc.)

      • Don't forget the racism. For all the flack Australia gets about being racist, other countries practically have racism enshrined in the law. In those countries, it is your patriotic duty to be racist!

  • OP, Any idea on when this deal may end ??
    Tks Mate

  • Just in case if any one interested.

Low coast deal - Air asia - Sydney to kochi(India) - when on sale return flight is around $400 to $500

Kochi to Male - www.spicejet.com - regular price is around $200-$250 return flight. it is fairly good airlines.

it is separate ticket so leave extra gap between 2 flights.

  • For those wishing to fly at other times, Air Asia will start flights into Male again from Oct 22, I think roughly around $390 return from KUL incl food/luggage/etc.
Still, I'd rather fly with pay more and fly with Singapore, etc.

If anyone would like a recommendation of a resort - Komandoo is fantastic. Yes, fairly expensive but I still reckon good value. Best place I've ever been, and I've travelled a decent amount.

  • +7

I think I'll get negged for negging this deal for this reason, but I feel it is immensely unfair that the OP still hasn't given credit to his source for finding this deal from here, as identified by Liu Yang almost 24 hours ago…

Not to mention the description of this post is a copy and paste job of bits and pieces of the source..

  • +2

@illumination, thank you for your support :) it took me some time and effort to find the deal, the sample dates etc.

    • Boo-urns! Have submitted report under "other" for you.

  • Anyone recommend any accom in abu dhabi or things to do etc ?

  • From my past experience, you can normally fly to Male for about 1k with Malaysia Airlines, so the saving is not that huge…

And when I went - the flight was the cheapest part of the holiday. Didn't even cover 1 night of accomodation.
