    Waiting on Note 5 deal

    • +7

How is this comment relevant to the deal?

      • +4

Well he/she is giving a hint to tightarse and also mobile city… Kinda relevant.

        • Right, because they're going to see his comment and be like "oh, one person wants a Note 5, that should be our next deal!"

        • @tranqme: why don't you click and vote +ve on the deal it will make 2ppl maybe that will convince them ;)

  • +1

Thanks OP. Might pull trigger on G4. Is warranty through LG or store?

    • +2

      either, both, up to you

  • +4

think we might need to see the T&C's on the "Please note: If you find either of these handsets offered by any Australian retailer cheaper, Mobileciti will refund the difference up until Feb 29. Must be Australian stock." statement… is it applicable to bricks and mortar stores, or is online stores allowed too?

    • +1

Online store allowed too, limit to same AU stock. only thing excl trade-in and other credits.

      • Not a great deal for G4. Quite expensive.

      • What's the chance I can get a refund on the difference for accidentally purchasing it full-price?

  • +3

That's very cheap for the 5x..

    • -6

Still over priced. By nuts to buy that over the Nexus 6 (non P).

2GB has no place in any phone over $200 in 2015.

      • -2

Still over priced. By nuts to buy that over the Nexus 6 (non P).

And if they don't want or can't hold a 6" phone? But by all means continue to pretend that everyone has the same requirements as yourself.

2GB has no place in any phone over $200 in 2015.

What an absurd statement, so if a phone is $201 it's rubbish but if it's $199 it's great. Another great use of logic there, explain why 2GB in the Nexus 5X is such a problem?

        • -4

And if they don't want or can't hold a 6" phone? But by all means continue to pretend that everyone has the same requirements as yourself.

          Simply grow bigger hands.

explain why 2GB in the Nexus 5X is such a problem?

According to Marshmallow on my 6, during the last 3 hours (in which all I've done is check RSS, Facebook, some quick browsing with Chrome and streamed Spotify), my average memory usage has been 1.7GB. 2GB is cutting it to close if you want a phone that will last you years to come.

        • -3

@PainToad: 2 years. Then u buy a new one. Phones, amirite?

        • -2

          @RI4V4N:

2 years? Good luck. 2GB is already 2012 level specs (Nexus 4).

The real test will be Android N's memory usage.

        • +1

And if they don't want or can't hold a 6" phone

A lot of the forummers are holding on to at least 6" most of the time, particularly when they post comments

        • +1

@PainToad: even if you have a point about future-proofing, that's not how phone memory works. you should WANT your phone to use as much of the available memory as possible; why would you want your phone to only use 1gb of ram for the above tasks if 2gb is available?

        • @dltra:
You wouldn't. But memory requirements of OS and Apps increase with time.

If you want to avoid apps being automatically cleared out of memory all the time in the future, you should have an overhead.

Justify it all you want, the 5X specs are atrocious.

There's a reason they've already started having their price slashed in the US.

How's the 5X against the iPhone 5S? Looking for an upgrade finally and the 5X is a really nice price

    • +14

It kicks the iPhone 5S's arse. It's physically bigger, obviously. But it has a better screen, better camera, better processor, more RAM and a better fingerprint reader. It's a much newer design too, and includes 700Mhz 4G.

      • +1

        It's only 16Gb though.

        • +2

my 5S is 16GB anyway so no dramas

    • +3

I got the 5X (32Gb version) from google when it first came out. I find the camera quality is much improved from previous Nexus phones. I think if 16Gb storage is sufficient for your needs, then it will be good bang for buck compared to the 5S. Plus you get the unencumbered vanilla android with all the latest updates as soon as google rolls out a new version. My last phone was a Nexus 4 and it lasted me 4 years, which is like 100 smart phone years!

      • +4

You must have purchased the Nexus 4 one year before it was released.

        • +1

          25 smart phone years actually.

        • Apologies, you're absolutely correct. I recalled buying it in 2012, but forgot it was at the tail end. The funny thing is, it probably felt like I had it for 4 years towards the end there!

        • +1

@ozkiwi75: No worries, it sounded strange because I too purchased a Nexus 4 as soon as it was released, at the end of 2012.

  • +1

    Great price for the 5X.
EDIT: It's only the 16GB model which I'm sure some people will have a whinge about.

  • +1

Thanks for convincing mobileciti…. U do have the gift of the gab

    • +4

Why the neg? Your comment appears positive

      • Don't ask, just jump on the train.

  • +9

OP, if you could get a deal for the 5x with 32GB storage as well that would be awesome. 16GB is too little for today's requirements.

    • Also interested in 32gb

    • +4

      Thats why its on sale.

    • +1

OP, if you could get a deal for the 5x with 32GB storage as well that would be awesome. 16GB is too little for today's requirements.

Why is 16GB too little for todays requirements? Talk about a throwaway statement that means nothing when nearly everyone can get away with using a 16GB handset and don't need to load their phone with games, videos and mp3's.

      • Yeah 16 would be enough if u didn't need to use offline Spotify or something and only had a few games.

        • I use 16Gb and use Spotify. That only takes 2 Gb tops for me. Photos backup to Goggle and get deleted pretty quickly.

      • I've got Dropbox and a whole bunch of photo albums with high res pics. I want them available on my phone. That's already about 8gb gone.

  • +4

Good deal for the G4 if you want local stock and are planing on claiming TRS.

But if you are not planing on going oversea nor do you care about local stock you might be better off buying from QD ebay.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-G4-H815-32GB-4G-LTE-Factor…

Work out to be $502.2 delivered. For an direct import their warranty is not bad. You can send your phone to their Australian warehouse and they will take care of the warranty for you.

    • The Mobileciti one has H815 in its title. In the Item Specifics and Description, however, it has the specs of the H815T. Maybe someone could confirm whether they sell the H815 or H815T.

The qd_au listing appears to be the H815.

      • Hi chunky

sorry should be H815T (Au model), updated the listing

        • -1

T isn't au. Non T is also au. T includes 2300Mhz for Optus canberra.

        • @fatty:

          100% Au stock

          LTE band: 700(B28)/700(B17)/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2300/2600

        • @fatty: So qd is the better buy for bulk: Non TRS not Optus Canberra (majority)

G4 is the best phone on Android market for $450-$550 bracket. EBay second hand can be had for just under that bracket. Opportunity buys. Most G4 owners don't offload theirs on the 2nd hand market which is testimonial to the device capability.

        • @mobileciti:

Yeah 2300 is the extra in the T variant.

          http://oztowers.com/Home/Bands

        • @fatty:

Most G4 owners don't offload theirs on the 2nd hand market which is testimonial to the device capability.

The phone has been on the market for just over six months so it's hardly surprising that there are not a lot of second hand ones for sale on ebay.

        • -4

          @fatty:
I don't agree. The g4 does not run pure droid. The ui and bloat is horrible. Not Samsung level but not too far off. Impure!

          Moto or nexus 4 lyf.

  • +1

    Any deals on 6p

  • Nice price on the 5x, its like reasonable compared to launch prices. Same as the original nexus5 when i first bought it via google. Good deal as always TA.

  • -3

16GB for NEXUS 5X is far far far from enough…. and no MicroSD. What were they even thinking?

    • +3

It's so that you are more willing to pay extra for the 32g version

    • They were thinking that you'd use all of Google's services (Music, Photos, Drive, Docs) instead of storing stuff on the phone. Still, it's obviously not suitable for people that play games on their phones.

  • If you are looking for a high end new phone, both samsung and LG are going to show off there new devices Feb 21st. If u can wait with the LG G5, and Galaxy S7 to be shown

    • Not going to be anywhere near this price though

    • +1

      Also impure.
There still isnt a cyanogen running for the s6. I wouldn't risk an s7.

While the camera and specs won't be as good on the nexus 5x, I'm willing to bet it runs smoother and faster with less bugs than whatever Samsung is gonna poop out next.

      • Also impure

        Praise be to Duarte

        • And hallowed be his name.

  • +1

I purchased the Nexus 5x last month, it is good for the most part, though does lag a bit compared to my Note 4.

  • +1

On 2nd thought, I'll avoid the 5x like a plague after reading http://www.androidcentral.com/nexus-5x-three-months.

    • +1

Thanks for that, the reviewers cited a lot of issues I had way back on the Nexus 4. Starting to think that LG is no good at making Nexus phones.

  • +2

    Hmm… Nexus 5X for $458 or Nexus 6 for $481.32?

$23 more buys a bigger screen, more RAM, more storage.

    • +3

And a vastly inferior camera and display.

      • -6

5X is inferior camera and display, yeah?

      • Source? on paper the 6 looks like it's better all round.

        • It is in hand too.

The plastic on the 5X looks so tacky, it's something you'd expect on a Prepaid phone.

        • Yeah although MP is not always an indication of quality its a 12MP on 5X and 13MP on 6. The front camera is 5MP on 5X and 2MP on 6. So it wins there. Screen resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels (~423 ppi pixel density) on 5X and 1440 x 2560 pixels (~493 ppi pixel density) on the 6 so the 6 screen is a better res.

  • Any chance of doing a similar deal to this one that you did last week on the Huawei W1 watch (preferably black)?

    • +1

with the 10% off it'll be $536.22. if you use CR it'll be a further $7.45 off (1.25% off total before discount). if you use shopandmint it'll be a further $13.01 (2.5% off the discounted total)

  • +2

Ok, caved and bought! See you this afternoon or tomorrow.

    • +2

      Thank you very much!

      • +2

        No. Thank you very much!

      • Edit:

Rep, Do you guys issue proper Tax Invoices for TRS?

        • They do

        • @aldoduco:

          Thank you so much

  • Bought one. Couldn't resist as I will be overseas from Tuesday next week. Only if it arrives beforehand.. (Syd->Mel metro delivery)

        • @xarudo:

you can also call our storeb 0298938886 speak to online team about order status

  • +1

16GB is a bit tight guys, i have 8GB, upgraded to 16GB, still not enough.. if you use whatsapp, viber and apps, its not enough..

    • Used 16G Nexus 5 for two years, generally felt OK as long as I don't put any music in it and clean up bloated app occasionally.

  • Is that with the Australian plug charger?

    • Yes, its Au Stock

      • -1

        thanks, no other colour offerings?

        • Only black colour. Thanks

      • +2

        Hi rep,

        • @mobileciti: no luck on a 32gb deal?
