        • @jv: his brother is a famous English psychologist.

    • It's to (potentially? Automatically) turn off the tv after they fall asleep.

Anything IR controlled can be turned on/off via smartphone app.

Pretty sure I could use this to set an 8hr timer on a white noise generator (read: fan) so it turns off right at my wake up time. As long as it allows multiple "remote" IR presses to be sent.

    • I actually found this post from Google, so thought I'd reply. It connects to your Wifi and will receive commands over the internet, which it then transmits using infrared like your remote controls, to TVs, Air conditioners, whatever.

I always lock myself out, so I'm building a controller to sit on my balcony and with a motor, unspool some string with my key on the end. So when I'm locked out, I walk under my balcony, open the app, press a button, which triggers the device you linked, which triggers my controller, which lowers a key.

      Have a good one

  • Hi Monty, any discount for the Broadlink RM2? Interested to try it out.

  • Doh, I feel somewhat OzB unworthy for paying $15.81 AUD from this earlier deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245086 and haven't received it yet so this seems like a good deal.

EDIT: price now up to US $11.99 USD / ~$16 AUD so I feel better :-)

  • I notice the IR thingo has a micro USB power input, could you use a powerbank with one of these?

    • Don't see why not.

  • Thanks, got one. I'm sure this will be useful. Somewhere…

  • Never mind. Order went through as indicated. Good deal

  • Came up as $15.49

  • How can I get ORICO 2599US3-V1 2.5 for that price? I tried on mobile site, applied the coupon but I got USD6.35. Has the price gone up?

  • The A118C has the wrong price here. It is now USD $51.49

  • Can this convert signals from IR to wifi?

  • I ordered this exactly one month ago and still haven't received it. Pretty disappointing EB.
