lowest this has been is around the $300 mark, so $319 is not too shabby?

    • +2

That's what i'm thinking. Especially for the triple black edition which look pretty sweet.

  • +4

$260 was the cheapest when Dick Smith and MOVE closed down. This is pretty much the cheapest you'll get without a store closing down!

    • +1

      Indeed!

    • I missed out on practically anything worth buying at DSE anyways, so this ain't bad!

  • Too bad they don't have android versions on their eBay page. Paid 369 for my QC25 2 days ago but thinking of getting another pair for my misses…

  • I have a pair but for APPLE - i have an android phone and these sales never seem to have android versions. So sad.
Any idea if buying a genuine BOSE android cable will do the trick?

    • Yea you can just buy a new cable if you already have a pair of headphones.

      • Ahh didn't know you could do that. So the mic and volume buttons work properly with just a cable switch? Neato!

      • +2

Thanks man, $80 for a new cable as well. B@ll breaker!

        • Yea I was thinking of grabbing one of these for my misses and then a android cable. But since the cable is so expensive I might as well just buy android version headphones for full price lol

        • +1

          @nagel:
The alternate cable is not an Android cable, it's a Samsung cable.

It may or may not work with whatever Android phone you have, but there is absolutely no guarantee unless it's Samsung.

        • @KentT:

          Won't know until we try!

Anyone have an android cable they wanna swap for apple in VIC? Lol!

        • @nagel:

Agreed. I thought yeah maybe $20-$30 no worries.. Lol but think again!

        • Thanks man, $80 for a new cable as well.

          Yikes.

You could try checking who does Bose warranty repairs on headphones in your area. Then call them up and say you broke your cable and would like a price for a replacement.

It might not be cheaper, but if you don't mind plastic bag packaging sometimes you can get "spare part" pricing instead of "retail" pricing.

        • @bigmez: You can get non genuine cables from eBay for that price or less. Not sure about the quality but atlest it should not affect the noise cancelling as that part is all in the headphones.

        • @KentT:

That's an idea! Thanks bud, might look into this and see if it's worth it.

        • @nagel:

Checked eBay - everywhere! I spent $300 on my QC25 - i think it's best i settle for top quality products for a 'higher' end brand. Can't trust the quality of generic stuff these days..

        • @bigmez: If you lives in Sydney, you can go to the BOSE shop in Bondi Junction. They are mostly willing to exchange as long as the box is unopened with or without receipt.

        • $80 for a replacement Bose replacement cable? Ouch.

          Maybe eBay has cheaper/generic alternatives?

Having read that, I'm thinking of buying a generic spare set (on eBay) since original Bose cables are so expensive.

While skimming the BOSE US site, they sell replacement cables for $30 USD, IIRC.

Cable replacement compatible for both Apple & Samsung devices: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Replace-Audio-Cable-Code-For-Bose…

      • Myer's return policy is pretty good and they are pretty chilled about it. Read what the deal with returns on their eBay store is but if you were to go into a store , say you bought the wrong headphones and need the android version they probably wouldn't have an issue with swapping them over.

    • What am I missing out on by using the Apple cable with an Android phone. I assume I could do almost everything except adjust volume, sounds like I'm probably wrong if people are happy to spend significantly more for the Android version? Thanks

    • The Android version has been on sale here for a long time: https://sydneyhificastlehill.com.au/shop/headphones/bose-qc2…

They have the Apple version for the same price but this Myer deal is cheaper. It doesn't look like they have the triple black colour but the others are nice enough too.

    • I'd trade my Android cable for your Apple one!

    • What about buying an Apple headphone to Android adapter ?

Something like this on eBay or Amazon etc "omtp to ctia adapter"

      -Tony

  • I nearly bought qc25 (since its got very good reviews) from myer since they were the only retailer that sells triple black version. I bought a pair online (no stock around me for black version) and had a chance to try them on that day in store. After trying them for a few minutes I immediately cancelled my online order. The noise cancellation is good (blocks about 70%) but more importantly the sound quality is not upto my expectation. Its ok sound but lacks the richness of bass and sounds very thin. I found qc20 sound better that qc25.

    • +7

The noise cancellation is good (blocks about 70%) but more importantly the sound quality is not upto my expectation. Its ok sound but lacks the richness of bass and sounds very thin.

In this price range you can definitely do better for sound quality.

There are two main reasons people swear by these things:

      1. The noise cancelling really is good.
      2. You can wear them for extended periods - even on a plane leaning your head against a rumbling fuselage - without your ears getting sore/hot/sweaty.

      Quiet Comfort.

    • You buy it for the noise cancellation, but not sound quality. In fact, you never buy Bose for sound quality, as you will be paying more than double the price! A $70 headphone has better sound quality than this.

      • I really loved original oe for its sound and comfort. But after oe bose has gone downhill though

      • +1

huh, someone had to sneak in an anti Bose SQ comment…

        • +1

It's not anti-Bose. Just value for money - we are ozbargain right?

        • Well if you cant hear the music because the surroundings are so loud, whats the point of a better sounding pair?

        • @ATangk: Yeh, that's why I said you buy it for noise cancellation, which is the main purpose of this headphone. :)
Just the original comment was about disappointment of sound quality of this headphone.
I personally recommend having a QC25 for travelling, and Audio Techinca (less than $100) to use at home.

        • @bargainshunter:
Pretty sure I was replying to dtc, not you. I own a pair :P

        • @ATangk: I know. Just giving you a high five for making a sensible comment. Just dtc missed the point of my post ;)

  • This is a decent price. I purchased for the same price a couple of months ago and then claimed the GST back at the airport. Net cost $290.

    • But when you return to Australia with the headphones again don't you have to pay the GST back?

      • +3

Only if you are over your allowance of duty free goods:

        From: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller

I claimed a TRS refund for some goods that I now want to bring back into Australia. What do I need to know?

If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring in up to A$900 worth of general goods into Australia duty-free, or A$450 if you are younger than 18. Families travelling together can pool this allowance (so a couple with a child can bring in a total of A$900 + $900 + A$450 = A$2250 worth of general goods into Australia without paying duty or tax). This is called your Passenger Concession.
General goods include gifts, souvenirs, cameras, electronic equipment, leather goods, perfume concentrates, jewellery, watches and sporting equipment.
If the total value of the goods you are bringing in is greater than your Passenger Concession, including goods for which you have previously claimed a tax refund under TRS:
you must declare all of these goods
for goods where you have previously claimed a tax refund under TRS, you will need to pay that refund back
duty and tax will apply to all items of this type, not just goods over the limit of your passenger concession.
Penalties may apply if you don’t declare that you have goods in excess of your concession.

      • If you get searched and caught with it. Which rarely happen. If feeling really paranoid, have someone else in your party carry it.

        • Yes, the odds are low. However, if you're caught and you haven't declared it then you're in for hurt. There is a penalty for making a false declaration and one day customs will smarten up and match people returning who have claimed large amounts of TRS on their departure.

Myself, I've been through SYD/MEL/BNE customs 10 times in the past 18 months and never once been stopped (except for a quick sniff from a Beagle once through SYD). But there is no way I'm going to try and sneak anything through for a couple of dollars. If you're caught, in addition to the GST and a fine, you'll also be subject to more rigorous searching each and every time you come back through customs.

As Matt said you can pool the duty free allowance between families travelling together. Pretty generous.

  • So are these the best Bose headphones available, i tried the new Bose BT 2 version but didn't sound much better than my Bose OE2 i am using, so sent back to Apple, they were $379.

  • I searched around and can't seem to find Triple Black for Android !! On Myers or anywhere else.

    • +1

Samsung/Android versions are only white or normal black. The triple black is only available for Apple. Unless you change the cord :-)

      • I got Samsung/Android triple black at Myer several months ago. Think I saw them at JB too. Possibly not online - or it really was limited edition?

        • +1

Can confirm. Have triple black with android cable.

        • Thanks

  • Whats the differene between the android compatibility and apple compatibility? I dont understand why a $350 product dosent have supporting compatibility for both OS.

    • The cable with mic that controls volume up/down and answer button.

  • Anyone know if you can purchase this in store because I would like to use my $20 Myer voucher with it.

    • Yes you can, you just won't get the 20% off.

    • Myer Gift Cards are only available for redemption in store, not even their own website accepts my gift cards or eGift Cards. lol

    • +1

Try. Tell them the eBay price in store at Myer.

I got my qc20s for about this price by simply asking, when there was no sale.

  • +2

The android version is $349 at Wireless1.

    https://www.wireless1.com.au/bose-qc25-acoustic-noise-cancel…

  • Thanks for the info guys about Android / Apple cables. I never knew the solution, but investigate into it too much.

I just pulled my phone out of my pocket. :)

  • probably a stupid questions. Isnt it better to just buy the bose soundlink one which works for apple and android?

    Comments pls

  • I just bought the Apple version although I have a Sony (android) phone. As I only intend using the headphones while flying I'm not interested in using the phone as a phone with the headphones - just to listen to music.

My question: can I still listen to music using the Bose Apple version and my non-apple phone without getting a new cable? If not, could I just use a straight through cable with male plugs at each end?

    • +1

It's a normal 3.5 mm cable. The only thing that may not work is the remote.

As I said above, you could just take them back, say you accidentally bought the wrong version and ask to swap them over. Myers is pretty good with returns.

    • Apparently you can skip songs but can't use volume remote

  • The only thing that probably wont work is the cabled remote control. If, however, you have a smartwatch and can control your phone with that, it's not really an issue

  • These are unreal headphones. I got them for $280 at Melbourne Airport duty free about 1 year ago :) So so so good for flights (if you fly regularly.) Sometimes just use them for noise cancellation without any audio just to help me sleep better.

  • Anyone has link for inline cable for android phones. Possibly the only work around for this triple black model and an android phone for this price range

  • Does anyone know if we can claim back GST if we buy this from eBay??

    • +1

If Myer give you an invoice you should be able to claim back on the whole $399

      • does myer give an invoice for eBay purchases? lol

        • They should when they mail it to you

    • I would hope so

  • seems everyone prefers the triple black, is it cuz it's 'special'? Personally I feel the white one is nicer.

    • Personal preference, perhaps black would better complement work-dress.

  • whats the difference b/w normal model and triple black model?

    • colour

  • Is this 'Triple Black' version same as the normal black version?

  • Would using this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248701 get another $15 off ? Or can't they be used together ?

    • NO

      • did you try it or are you just going off the smallprint?

        • I tried. Only one code is allowed.

They have the bose qc25 for $299 and free shipping

    • +1

I have only heard bad things about this online store, proceed with caution (or better yet, stay away)!

      • That's right, they sell fake goods.

Here is a comment from WP.

        Do NOT order from boombeats.com.au!!!

They seem to plant ads on gumtree with an embedded link to the site in an attempt to give it validity. I've seen multiple ads very similarly constructed ( I purchased product x from www.boombeats.com.au for price y and they are no longer needed for some reason).

I've called Bose and it was stated that they are not an authorized reseller and they have had many complaints of counterfeit products (non-existing serial numbers).
If you purchase anything from the site, make sure you check the serial number and call the manufacturer to confirm its authenticity.

  • Just had my order cancelled .. paypal refund from Myer and all.

Can they do this? Are they required to fulfil order?

A bit bummed as triple blacks just what I wanted!

    • Wow what an absolute joke. I ordered mine early last week. I'm flying out of country Saturday and this morning also received a refund and order cancellation email. I wonder how many other products they oversold or never had stock of. Surely must be widespread. This type of mispractise should be reported to the ACCC.

      • This is the sequence of events for me:
        - Bought the Bose Triple Black QC25 from eBay AU using "Buy it now". Paid with Paypal.
        - Received two e-mails, one from eBay AU and from Myer saying you have bought the item.
        - Two days later (Thursday 26.5.16), received two e-mails, one from eBay AU and from Myer (which included the tax invoice) saying they had sent my item.
        - Now awaiting delivery of headphones. :/

To make sure we got a pair of headphones, maybe we should have bought the normal white or black QC25s?

        • +2

I've called their customer service (1800 811 611) after being on hold for 20 minutes, the representative helping me as been very helpful. Trying to line up another colour in store for same price. I was completely off myer but I need them for flight tomorrow and should be same price. Let you know how I go.

        • @S0041464: Great! Let us know how you go..

  • Has anyone received theirs yet?

    • Yup just got my order today!
