$85 for $100 to Spend on Anything at eBay Via Groupon (Single Transaction, Multiple Items)

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

Update 4: Working again

Update 3: Despite the button showing up and being able to get to checkout, you can't purchase the vouchers anymore.

UPDATE 2(9/6): It appears the deal is active but you can't access it via clicking via OzBargain. Copy the link and paste in your browser. You may need to refresh a couple of times before it allows you to put it into your cart.

UPDATE (24/5): The deal is active again.

Groupon is offering $100 of eBay credit for only $85. You can buy multiple things via add to cart but must use the credit in one transaction. You can get $10 off for new Groupon accounts so $75 for $100. Groupon have fixed that.

  • eBay Voucher Code is valid for use in a single transaction only
  • Limit 1 transaction per voucher. Multiple items can be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction).
  • The voucher expires on 31 July 2016 and any voucher which is not redeemed by 23:59 (AEST) on 31 July 2016 will cease to be valid
  • eBay Voucher Code is valid for use on ebay.com.au only.
  • Your eBay Voucher Code will be emailed to you in approximately 2-4 business days from the email alias: Groupon ([email protected])
  • Not to be used in conjunction with any other eBay or PayPal coupon/voucher.

Groupon eBay T&Cs

3 bought as of 4:15PM. Found this deal through Groupon's cryptic Tweet earlier today. Not sure if you can use cashback but Pricepal has 9% for founders.

Buy anything on eBay like more gift cards (gift card inception)! no nevermind, T&Cs say you can't do that.

From lplau:

If you get a refund, the coupon will become active again with the amount. Therefore it can be re-used.

I just got a refund and on Paypal it will say "Refund Coupons to be sold on Groupon", but it actually goes to the coupon code that was used. Therefore it can be reused.

    OH YEAH!

  • this will be big

    • +17

      Its a good deal but

      • Your limited to $100
      • You need to spend the $100 in one transaction i.e you probably will find yourself buying junk you dont need so you dont waste the value of the voucher (i.e. spending more than you would have)
      • If you need to refund, you loose the value of the voucher
      • Short expiry
      • +25

        You're*

        Sorry.

      • +1

No refund when using voucher to purchase makes the whole buying process sketchy at best, and wipes out any perceived garuantee you may usually assosciate with eBay/Paypal. Been burnt before.

        • +1

I have refunded an item that was purchased with an eBay voucher before.

        • +6

eBay are relying on people either forgetting to use the voucher before expiry date, or these kind of transactions that result in no refund due to the use of a voucher. Paypal will only cover you for anything over the $100 value of the voucher.

My friend works in marketing research and was telling me the other day that over 25% of gift vouchers expire and are never used. That's a few hundred million dollars per year

        • +12

@easternculture: And relying on people like me that spent a $50 eBay voucher to buy $8 item. I was expecting change back.

        • +8

          @zealmax:

oh , you really got burned by eBay

        • +2

Groupon operate within Australia and must respect Australia warranty laws. They can say whatever you like, but the law guarantees you some safety nets.

      • If you need to refund, you loose the value of the voucher

Do you mean you lose the value of the voucher if you need to return an item you bought? If so, where does it say that?

        • its technically like a promo code you enter at checkout. Once it's used, it has no value.

      • "If you need to refund, you loose the value of the voucher".

I just made a computer purchase using the coupon and need to do a refund as the computer is not as described. Is it a certainty that I lose the $85 that I paid for the voucher?

  • Interesting deal. I guess we won't be able to combine with other ebay promotion as only 1 voucher/coupon in 1 transaction

    • COLLECT would be the Promo Code
But this is a Paid Voucher right?

      • +8

Ebay has a field called Redemption code in their checkout page. Both vouchers & promo go to this field and ebay only allows 1 entry in this field. So maximum discount of $15, its good if you have to buy something for around $100 -$105, but not a good option for big purchases

        • Thanks for the clarifcation.

  • Can one use more than one of these things per Transaction?

Ie if the item is $200, use two of these?

    • +2

Dont think eBay system allows two codes, from memory

  • How to use this voucher if I buy a $400 item? $60 off or only $15 off?

    • +1

      Only $15 off.

    • +1

It's a $15 saving on a voucher worth $100. The other $300 you'll have to pay by card, PP etc Essentially in that case it's a measly 3.75% discount

  • +1

Gift cards/certificates/vouchers are excluded from the use of the voucher.

  • Groupon promo codes are not available for use on this deal

    • Source?

      • +4

          That's a good source

@fruit: It is I dont know how else to say it..

          Click -> https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/ebay-au

Read and see "The Fine Print" (Right hand side of your screen or mobile I dunno) then Under the 2nd dot point it will say that.

        • +4

          @Turd: Wasn't being sarcastic :)

        • +4

          @fruit: Oh.

    • Technically it shouldn't work but it does work for new accounts.

      • Ya, quick get in before they close it! he he, and I bet the email linked to the voucher must be the same as your main eBay Account/paypal.

    • Just tried and it worked.

      • New account?

Beaware but I have a feeling the voucher is unique to that EMAIL, so if you use a random NEW email it may not work with eBay?

        • New account, using WELCOME. Actually was an old account but never used it to purchase anything.

        • @scotty: Fair enough! Lucky!

  • Don't Groupons have to be a minimum of 50% off?

  • I think no 1.25%-1.35% cashback when the Groupon eBay voucher is used.

    • You can get cashback via Groupon for the purchase now, 5-9% depending on who you use and what level.

      • Probably with PricePal,not Cashreward(more stringent IMO).

  • So basically only $15 off for one transaction, right?

    • Sounds like it.

  • +2

Don't forget to use a random referral!

    • +1

I forgot this when I bought the Wish card the other day with a new account and I was kicking myself. Then today I forgot again for this deal :(

  • Very frustrating to link via Cashback sites and searching for specific deals is like a needle in a haystack :(

    • I don't actually understand, you click on cash back site then reload the page you were on.

      • But

"After clicking the "Shop Here" button, complete your purchase without opening any other websites, as this may result in your cashback being awarded to another marketing channel"

Or am I doing it wrong?

        • +1

They are just being pedantic, it's always worked for me the way I do it.
I think what they are trying to say is if you browse the web it's possible the cookie that was set will be set with other company's referral token.

I just open it in Incognito -> cashback site -> copy paste url into same window, done.

Had like $20 of cashback already

        • You can copy the item code from ebay url and search it after going through cashreward

  • Purchase up to 2 eBay Voucher Codes!!

  • So do you need to spend the full $100 on the item/s as item im after is $94 can i use the remaining amount $6 with something else?

    • Yes, Limit 1 transaction per voucher. Multiple items can be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction).

    • It says in one transaction. So you have to "add to cart", and then add another item of at least $6 to your cart. The other item can be from any seller.

    • From the confirmation email:

Each eBay Voucher Code is valid for use in a single transaction only, so make sure you fill up your eBay shopping cart with at least $100 worth of value or more before entering your eBay Voucher Code at checkout

  • +4

You should list this condition: Not to be used in conjunction with any other eBay or PayPal coupon/voucher.

I'm guessing that means you can't combine it with the current 20% off discount.

    • Ye because ebay system is only one voucher/code per thing.

    • Done.

  • Drats it takes 2 - 4 biz days to arrive…by then the COLLECT code will be invalid.

    • Can you use coupon code and voucher code at the same time? I think should be OK, right?

      • Seems like you can't because eBay only have space to enter either promo or voucher code.

    • Just bought and the code shows up in your groupon account straight away

      • Code wont work, it is the standard Groupon code.

Your eBay Voucher Code will be emailed to you in approximately 2-4 business days from the email alias: Groupon ([email protected])

    • +1

      Can't combine them anyway unfortunately

    • +3

You can't use it with any other code anyway.

  • interesting even fascinating - but I bought anyway

    • Buy one more!!!!111oneoneoneonewonwonwon

  • purchased!

  • can you use stack the discounts ie referral + cashrewards ?

    • you can try, but probably won't be paid.

BEST DEAL EVER POSTED FOR GROUPON!!

  • +1

One thing I hate about using ebay gift voucher is there's no refund if something goes wrong with your purchase.

  • Contemplating making more accounts, but really cant be bothered. Any professionals here gonna buy more than 2?

    • +1

It's not worth it. No garauntee you'll even receive ordered items and there's no refunds. Cannot use multiple vouchers, so max discount is 15% on exact $100 spend which is unlikely.

    • I've bought 4.

I regularly buy items for my home based business that are around $40 to $60 each. So if I split my purchases into groups as close to $100 as I can, I can maximise the savings from these vouchers. It's free money for me, as I would of been purchasing these items regardless of the existence of this deal or not.

  • +1

I think the welcome code is now fixed

    • can confirm - the code doesn't work for me also

      • +3

Yep doesnt work for me either (or should i say any of my alter egos linked to any of their email addresses)

      • Not working for me either, never had a groupon account previously.

    • yeah cant use it

  • So I should be able to go through eBay.com.au and buy international like eBay US hopefully?

  • +1

Yay we got our 15% off… kinda

  • +1

    welcome not working

    • +1

Damn just made another account to take advantage now stuck with more spam :(

  • +7

I'm still gonna hold up to 20% sitewide discount..not giving in !

    • I'm with you on that one!

    • +3

According to this post of ebay promotions history, we should have a 15% off sitewide sometime in September, im guessing 12th or 19th of September

      • Damn Spackbace doing some legit analysis there.

        • +2

          Why thankyou :)

      • It's their birthday sale in't it when they do the 15%.

  • +1

$10 welcome credit has stopped working! but good luck to me i used it twice!

    • I am late for that :(

  • +1
